I cannot say enough amazing things about Batter Up Bakery. I'm a wedding planner with over a decade of experience, and I have truly seen it all... but this was a first. Due to a major mistake on the venue's end, our couple's wedding cake was served to a different event the day before the wedding. Yes... the entire cake was gone. We were left without a cake for the bride and groom to cut on their wedding day, and with very little time to fix it. Enter Batter Up Bakery... and they absolutely saved the day. From the very first interaction, Samantha at the front counter was incredibly kind, responsive, and helpful. Selena, the decorator, did an unbelievable job recreating the cake exactly as originally designed. And Jim, the owner who handled delivery, was professional, communicative, and ensured everything arrived perfectly. They stepped in quickly and created a replacement cake that looked identical to what the couple originally ordered. Not only was it visually perfect, but it was also delicious. The entire process was seamless and handled with such care. The most incredible part? The bride had no idea anything had gone wrong until after the wedding. Everything felt flawless, and that is exactly what you hope for as a planner. In all my years in the industry, I have never experienced customer service like this. Batter Up turned what could have been a disaster into a perfect moment. I will be recommending them to every single one of my future couples. The lady that greeted me was super helpful and nice. So I ordered a chicken w/salsa verde and a lemon bar. I wanted to eat my Tamale in my car but the lady said it was "COLD". She said they have a third party deliver them. Why would they sell "COLD" tamales. Specially for $6.99 each. OMG I couldn't believe the price. $6.99 a piece or $70.00 a dozen lol. I said to my self they are probably a good size but when I got home this tamale was so small. I think a Snicker is probably bigger. I'm so disappointed never ever going back. This is my second and last attempt to patronize this establishment. I came in for a coffee and a tart for my birthday before work but left with nothing as the girls working were unwelcoming and rude. When I walked in I was not greeted, I even made eye contact. Walked over to the pastry counter to see if they had tarts, the girl behind the counter didn't even look up and said if you want drinks order over there (pointed to kiosk) if you want food I'll be with you in a minute. Me and the guy next to me looked at each other like well ok then. I head over to the kiosk to look at the drink menu and it's kinda confusing. Poor customer service. Do not recommend to anyone. Scheduled a wedding dessert tasting here and had some hope as options are already limited in Temecula. The bakery looked promising with all of the fake cakes decorated around. However, all of the dessert truly missed the mark. The plate of desserts we received was clearly placed in the refrigerator overnight - which ruins some of the desserts we had. For example, the cannoli shells were so soft, when they are supposed to be crunchy. I understand these desserts are made beforehand and need to be refrigerated so obviously I was worried about my own wedding desserts because it would the same case and I cannot serve soft cannolis at my wedding. The cakes, creme puffs, and additional desserts all missed as well. Honestly we were there two minutes took a bite of each, paid $40 for the testing, and left. Super sad about this bakery. I went in and everything looked wonderful, didn't try anything. But I ordered 1 dozen "gluten friendly" cups cakes. Then I arrived to pick up my cupcakes, they showed me a beautiful box of 12 mini cupcakes. I asked if they were gluten friendly like I ordered (my email receipt confirms i ordered "gluten friendly". They said they made a mistake and the cupcakes are not gluten free. So instead they offered me 4 full sized gluten free cupcakes and a slice of their gluten free chocolate cake. . I thought it was very nice and I accepted. Then I got home and opened the box. I got 4 huge, stale bricks of cake, no frosting. They tasted like cardboard and were terrible. I was given frosting on the side, odd, but it was crunchy and flavorless. I was tasting these hoping to order a gluten free cake for my wedding in March, but I just can't. I would give this a 1 star if it wasn't for the kind women at the counter, they were very sweet and I appreciate their help. I often feel like my business isn't appreciated when I visit. The counter staff tend to just go through the motions, and there's rarely a greeting or a thank you. A little acknowledgment would go a long way in making customers feel welcome. I do like the desserts. read more

As you can see from my inside pics, Batter Up is a well-stocked bakery and coffee shop. Also you can see from my menu pics, they offer quite the coffee selection. While we were there in the middle of the summer, I'm sure their outdoor patio is quite comfortable in the other seasons (see outdoor pics). The staff was quick and efficient. We saw their lemon bars in the case (see pic for tempting options). The sweetness and tang of a lemon bar seems to pair well with the boldness of coffee. Their lemon bar was good: not too sweet, very mild on the lemon flavor, the crust was firm and still moist, and the bar was amplied sized (see pic). The coffee was okay. The environment had a comfortable feel, albeit it felt busy with the POS items, and was a good travelling stop option. read more

First time and looking forward to a return. After reading about how great the carrot cake is, I ordered a slice. Went for the Italian Soda Blackberry Doom! Kind of fitting with the heatwave and craziness on the planet. Soda was 10/10! Unfortunately the carrot cake fell short. I love a traditional carrot cake. This slice was very dry. No moisture and crumbled immediately as the fork was used on it. The top was a cheesecake topper? Just was not for me. But, so many other sweet treats to try next time. Hello Stephanie , To be clear it did not appear to be busy at all when I walked in ,there were only two other patrons there,this employee not being trained to perform the writing on a cake is in deed understandable, however her response what was alarming "I don't know " how about "let me check if I have someone available to assist with that", her expectation was to make me pay for it without checking if that was going to be possible, and she visibly got upset that I asked of she could . I can see my review upset you but based off of other reviews ,this amongst others is not an isolated situation, within the past month you've had multiple negative reviews ,maybe it's time to re evaluate how business is being operated and make proper adjustments. read more

I've been to this establishment quite often for their matcha and it seems that the young ladies at the front really dislike their jobs. The first few times they had slight attitudes mostly coming from one specific lady every time. Today I came in to order food and one of the young ladies started grunting pretty loud in what seems like frustration because she had just shut off the oven. I then asked the other lady what time they stop serving food and she said 1 hour before closing which would be 4pm on Mondays. I came in around 3:20. Sadly I will no longer give them my business since they make me feel like an inconvenience every time I have came in. Mostly everything was great! We did have 2 problems with our order. One was the cake was supposed to have the German chocolate filling on top of the cake as well. It arrived with none. Which wasn't the biggest deal because the cake still looked great but it was a little bit of a bummer. The second problem was in one of the pecan tarts someone bit into a big ball of hair which was quite disappointing.  Other than that everything was great and tasted really good! We got a lot of compliments on the desserts especially the pecan tarts. With our upcoming Temecula wedding we were on the hunt for our perfect dessert spread and ended up scheduling a to-go tasting with The Batter Up Bakery. When we arrived it almost appeared that no one knew about our tasting order however they then brought our pink box of goodies. What we tried: Cakes: Carrot, Pink Champagne, Wedding White, Red Velvet Mini Desserts: Chocolate chip cookie, Brookie, Peanut butter cookie and Mini cheesecakes. I also added on a marshmallow, pretzel chocolate chip cookie because that sounded interesting as well. Unfortunately, our tasting started on a rough note as soon as we touched the marshmallow pretzel chocolate chip cookie that was pulled out of the case. First I expected the marshmallow and pretzel to be chopped up within the dough and cooked within but they were just stuffed on top of the cookie and marshmallow wasn't even melted. Immediately we could tell it was hard as a rock and just crumbled into pieces. We both agreed the wedding white cake was the best of the cakes. I didnt mind the pink champagne (it was fluffy and light) or red velvet. However the carrot was not good at all, it was dense and just did not have good flavor. The cookies in our tasting box were softer than the one pulled out of the case however we did not really enjoy any of them all that much. The cheesecakes were terrible. One was strawberry and while I expected regular cheesecake with real strawberry, it was some sort of pink flavored cheesecake that resembled medicine more than strawberries. The brookie however stole the show but we cant book an entire wedding with just a brookie alone. We opted for the to-go option for a multitude of reasons: we had places to be, it was less expensive than the in shop option and I don't like being put on the spot when trying things. It was nice to pull up a sunny spot on the patio and taste at our speed and be able to discuss honestly amongst ourselves without feeling watched over. I also ordered us two iced lattes at the coffee bar and unfortunately on top of I think being charged for a larger size than I received, they were almost undrinkable and ended up just being tossed :( read more

Mainly stopped by because owners at my favorite coffee shop in Garden Grove recommended this place. Wasn't sure what this place is known for so just went with a slice of tiramisu cake and flourless chocolate cake. Tiramisu was really good. Texture was soft and creamy. I'm glad it wasn't frozen or too cold like some places. Flourless chocolate cake was good too but texture could've been better. it was a bit too dense for me. It's probably a good bakery in this area, but I've been spoiled by excellent bakeries where I live so will have to go with 4 stars. read more

When I went to the store, the person at the counter did not even look at me, just said that they require at least week's notice (which this was) and that now they are slammed and can't take orders. I understand this is a busy time w of year, so I asked what ready-made cakes are available. She barely lifted her finger to point to a display on the side and said the only customization she could offer was to write happy birthday. The attitude was so dejected, I felt like I was bothering her, as she barely glanced at me, let alone make any effort to acknowledge my presence as a customer. I knew I wanted a special cake for my 45th Birthday. After doing some research, I went with The Batter Up Bakery! Ian was such a sweetheart. The whole staff was kind, polite, professional and helpful. I ended up going with a 4 layer white and chocolate cake (all though the almond rum flavor sounded divine) with white chocolate mousse and chocolate ganache filling and buttercream frosting with a chocolate drip. It. Was. So. Good. This cake was not cheap (however, affordable). I had extremely high expectations and I was going to be livid if it was not good. The cake was moist and flavorful. The white chocolate mousse & chocolate ganache filling was smooth and perfectly sweet. The coloring and decorations were on point. (I provided the cake decorations, and some pictures for inspiration.) I gave Ian free reign on the rest of the cake. He did beautifully. ((Also, I'm assuming Ian is the one that did my cake, but if it was someone else, please correct me.)) Bottom line... the cake was beautiful, delicious and absolutely perfect.
