I cannot say enough amazing things about Batter Up Bakery. I'm a wedding planner with over a decade of experience, and I have truly seen it all... but this was a first. Due to a major mistake on the venue's end, our couple's wedding cake was served to a different event the day before the wedding. Yes... the entire cake was gone. We were left without a cake for the bride and groom to cut on their wedding day, and with very little time to fix it. Enter Batter Up Bakery... and they absolutely saved the day. From the very first interaction, Samantha at the front counter was incredibly kind, responsive, and helpful. Selena, the decorator, did an unbelievable job recreating the cake exactly as originally designed. And Jim, the owner who handled delivery, was professional, communicative, and ensured everything arrived perfectly. They stepped in quickly and created a replacement cake that looked identical to what the couple originally ordered. Not only was it visually perfect, but it was also delicious. The entire process was seamless and handled with such care. The most incredible part? The bride had no idea anything had gone wrong until after the wedding. Everything felt flawless, and that is exactly what you hope for as a planner. In all my years in the industry, I have never experienced customer service like this. This is my second and last attempt to patronize this establishment. I came in for a coffee and a tart for my birthday before work but left with nothing as the girls working were unwelcoming and rude. When I walked in I was not greeted, I even made eye contact. Walked over to the pastry counter to see if they had tarts, the girl behind the counter didn't even look up and said if you want drinks order over there (pointed to kiosk) if you want food I'll be with you in a minute. The lady that greeted me was super helpful and nice. So I ordered a chicken w/salsa verde and a lemon bar. I wanted to eat my Tamale in my car but the lady said it was "COLD". She said they have a third party deliver them. Why would they sell "COLD" tamales. Specially for $6.99 each. OMG I couldn't believe the price. $6.99 a piece or $70.00 a dozen lol. Do not recommend to anyone. Scheduled a wedding dessert tasting here and had some hope as options are already limited in Temecula. The bakery looked promising with all of the fake cakes decorated around. However, all of the dessert truly missed the mark. The plate of desserts we received was clearly placed in the refrigerator overnight - which ruins some of the desserts we had. For example, the cannoli shells were so soft, when they are supposed to be crunchy. I understand these desserts are made beforehand and need to be refrigerated so obviously I was worried about my own wedding desserts because it would the same case and I cannot serve soft cannolis at my wedding. The cakes, creme puffs, and additional desserts all missed as well. Honestly we were there two minutes took a bite of each, paid $40 for the testing, and left. I went to Batter Up Bakery after Panera bread and though I enjoyed Panera I liked Batter up batter (better ;). Their Croissant ham and cheese is less, though I liked Panera's slightly better. Overall I liked Batter Up because their selection is huge and they are more reasonably priced than Panera. The service is friendly and though Panera's seating indoor and outdoor was nice, I preferred Batter up because they had a comfy leather couch and a huge outdoor seating area. Im left unhappy with this bakery and wont recommend them for custom orders. The food inside is great but my review is for my wedding cake order. We ordered 3 cakes, 2 house, 1 custom cake cutting cake. The custom cake was over $100 alone and looked like a new person decorated it and there was an ant on top. One of the other cakes was missing a lot of the blueberries and did not taste how it did in the original taste testing and was lopsided but whatever, i wanted my main cake the most. When i called they said i had sent them blurry images and thats why it looked the way it did but they would make a new one. ( i had sent them a lot of images and said i wanted a vintage cake). They did deliver a new cake but it was almost late and we didnt get a picture of the full dessert bar because of it. Super sad about this bakery. I went in and everything looked wonderful, didn't try anything. But I ordered 1 dozen "gluten friendly" cups cakes. Then I arrived to pick up my cupcakes, they showed me a beautiful box of 12 mini cupcakes. I asked if they were gluten friendly like I ordered (my email receipt confirms i ordered "gluten friendly". They said they made a mistake and the cupcakes are not gluten free. So instead they offered me 4 full sized gluten free cupcakes and a slice of their gluten free chocolate cake. . I thought it was very nice and I accepted. Then I got home and opened the box. I got 4 huge, stale bricks of cake, no frosting. They tasted like cardboard and were terrible. I was given frosting on the side, odd, but it was crunchy and flavorless. I was tasting these hoping to order a gluten free cake for my wedding in March, but I just can't. I would give this a 1 star if it wasn't for the kind women at the counter, they were very sweet and I appreciate their help. As you can see from my inside pics, Batter Up is a well-stocked bakery and coffee shop. Also you can see from my menu pics, they offer quite the coffee selection. While we were there in the middle of the summer, I'm sure their outdoor patio is quite comfortable in the other seasons (see outdoor pics). The staff was quick and efficient. We saw their lemon bars in the case (see pic for tempting options). The sweetness and tang of a lemon bar seems to pair well with the boldness of coffee. Their lemon bar was good: not too sweet, very mild on the lemon flavor, the crust was firm and still moist, and the bar was amplied sized (see pic). The coffee was okay. The environment had a comfortable feel, albeit it felt busy with the POS items, and was a good travelling stop option. read more

We ordered a custom cake, approved a detailed design, and paid $217 total including add-ons like gold leaf, fresh strawberries, fondant house/clipboard/book stack, and a graduation cap. All of this was confirmed in writing over email before the order was finalized, so there was no ambiguity about what was agreed to. What we received still fell short in several ways. The lime green ombré band that was part of the approved design was not on the cake at all, just a plain white base. The fondant house was missing its key. The graduation cap was charged for but never actually added to the cake. "Happy Birthday My Love" was written on the cardboard cake board instead of on the cake itself, and we were never told beforehand that this would happen or why. When we followed up, the bakery acknowledged the missing key, the missing graduation cap, and the lettering placement issue, but maintained the ombré band was included, which it was not, and we have photos of the finished cake showing a plain white base. They also told us after the fact that the fondant detail work typically needs two weeks' notice, and only explained the lettering placement change as being due to space constraints from the strawberry topping after we complained, never before or during the order, despite everything being handled over email where they had every opportunity to raise it. If a bakery knows upfront that a timeframe isn't enough to properly execute a design, that should be communicated before the order is accepted and paid for, not used afterward to explain a lower-quality result. We understand a hand-decorated cake will never look exactly like an AI-generated rendering, and we weren't expecting that, but we did expect the core elements we paid for, and agreed to in writing, to actually be on the cake. Their offered resolution was a $20 store credit, which doesn't come close to reflecting the gap between what was approved and what we received on a $217 order. We won't be ordering from here again and would encourage others to confirm every detail in writing and ask direct questions about timeline limitations before paying for custom work, though in our case even having it all in writing wasn't enough to guarantee it would be honored. read more

Mainly stopped by because owners at my favorite coffee shop in Garden Grove recommended this place. Wasn't sure what this place is known for so just went with a slice of tiramisu cake and flourless chocolate cake. Tiramisu was really good. Texture was soft and creamy. I'm glad it wasn't frozen or too cold like some places. Flourless chocolate cake was good too but texture could've been better. it was a bit too dense for me. Kind of fitting with the heatwave and craziness on the planet. Soda was 10/10! Unfortunately the carrot cake fell short. I love a traditional carrot cake. This slice was very dry. No moisture and crumbled immediately as the fork was used on it. The top was a cheesecake topper? Just was not for me. But, so many other sweet treats to try next time. I've been to this establishment quite often for their matcha and it seems that the young ladies at the front really dislike their jobs. The first few times they had slight attitudes mostly coming from one specific lady every time. Today I came in to order food and one of the young ladies started grunting pretty loud in what seems like frustration because she had just shut off the oven. I then asked the other lady what time they stop serving food and she said 1 hour before closing which would be 4pm on Mondays. I came in around 3:20. Sadly I will no longer give them my business since they make me feel like an inconvenience every time I have came in. With our upcoming Temecula wedding we were on the hunt for our perfect dessert spread and ended up scheduling a to-go tasting with The Batter Up Bakery. When we arrived it almost appeared that no one knew about our tasting order however they then brought our pink box of goodies. What we tried: Cakes: Carrot, Pink Champagne, Wedding White, Red Velvet Mini Desserts: Chocolate chip cookie, Brookie, Peanut butter cookie and Mini cheesecakes. I also added on a marshmallow, pretzel chocolate chip cookie because that sounded interesting as well. Unfortunately, our tasting started on a rough note as soon as we touched the marshmallow pretzel chocolate chip cookie that was pulled out of the case. First I expected the marshmallow and pretzel to be chopped up within the dough and cooked within but they were just stuffed on top of the cookie and marshmallow wasn't even melted. Immediately we could tell it was hard as a rock and just crumbled into pieces. We both agreed the wedding white cake was the best of the cakes. I didnt mind the pink champagne (it was fluffy and light) or red velvet. However the carrot was not good at all, it was dense and just did not have good flavor. The cookies in our tasting box were softer than the one pulled out of the case however we did not really enjoy any of them all that much. The cheesecakes were terrible. One was strawberry and while I expected regular cheesecake with real strawberry, it was some sort of pink flavored cheesecake that resembled medicine more than strawberries. The brookie however stole the show but we cant book an entire wedding with just a brookie alone. We opted for the to-go option for a multitude of reasons: we had places to be, it was less expensive than the in shop option and I don't like being put on the spot when trying things. It was nice to pull up a sunny spot on the patio and taste at our speed and be able to discuss honestly amongst ourselves without feeling watched over. I also ordered us two iced lattes at the coffee bar and unfortunately on top of I think being charged for a larger size than I received, they were almost undrinkable and ended up just being tossed :( read more

Mostly everything was great! We did have 2 problems with our order. One was the cake was supposed to have the German chocolate filling on top of the cake as well. It arrived with none. Which wasn't the biggest deal because the cake still looked great but it was a little bit of a bummer. The second problem was in one of the pecan tarts someone bit into a big ball of hair which was quite disappointing.  Other than that everything was great and tasted really good!
