Craving ice cream after our dinner in Old Town, we discovered this Lil gem en eoute to another ice cream shop we were heading to. So glad we stopped in! Plenty of Thrifty ice cream flavors to choose from, prices weren't bad (7.50 for 2 full sized scoops). Cashier was super nice! Plenty of indoor seating, there's some patio seating in front to people watch. Also, the ice cream parlor is separate from the candy store side which is adjoining. read more

I really wanted to support Old Town Sweet Shop, especially as a local Temecula business, but I was incredibly disappointed by the pricing of their NeeDoh products. They appear to be one of the few authorized local retailers carrying some of the harder-to-find NeeDoh releases, yet I recently saw individual Halloween NeeDohs priced at nearly $25 EACH. When I asked about the significant markup, I was told that this was "fair market value" because resellers are selling them for similar prices. That explanation really bothered me. An authorized retailer purchasing directly through the brand is very different from a reseller on the secondary market. Families shouldn't have to pay reseller-level prices at a local authorized retailer simply because an item is popular or difficult to find. I love supporting small businesses and understand that they need to make a profit, but nearly $25 for an individual NeeDoh that is intended to retail for significantly less feels excessive. There are so many families and kids searching for these products, and I wish the pricing reflected that rather than what resellers are able to get online. Unfortunately, the experience left me really disappointed and hesitant to shop here again. read more

After a late lunch, I was in the mood for ice cream, and this place has Thrifty's ice cream. I haven't had this brand since I was a kid after the store closed, so this was a real treat to go back to that era. I got pralines and cream and cookies and cream for my two scoops and had peanut butter sauce added. That was perfect serving, and I enjoyed it a lot. Inside is cool, and there is ample space to sit down and relax, so I took my time relishing the flavors of childhood. The workers get through the line pretty fast, but I wouldn't be in such a hurry to hang out anyway. Enjoy if you go! read more

Such a fun place! You can find lots of old-school, viral, and hard-to-find candy and toys here. It's probably a good thing I came without my kids, because I definitely would've spent way more. The chocolate-covered bacon looked interesting, and they also have NeeDohs, just at a much higher price. The ladies were very sweet and helpful. I'll try their store made goodies next time. read more

$3 marshmallow wands in milk or dark $14-17 (I forget & didn't take a picture) weighed bulk candy; jelly beans, individual candies, nostalgic, etc I absolutely LOVE candy and old towne soda fountains, etc. I buy Big Hunks and Chic-o-sticks from Staters for my fix but I will 100% never pass up a candy opportunity. I appreciated the nostalgic candies, glass case with chocolate dipped cookies, fruit, etc. The $3 marshmallow wands came as either milk or dark and rivaled the $8 Disneyland ones. Both were delicious! I didn't get the baklava but they looked delicious & well crafted. Staff was helpful but I knew my faves. I got pre-bagged Dr Pepper Jelly Bellys and the by the pound Green apple and Very cherry since they didn't come in bags. The buy the pound were unfortunately quite stale but the flavor was still there. Bummer, I spent so much(!) Definitely take a look around, they have import Japanese gummis, the trending Peeling gummis, gifts and knickknacks from Archie McPhee like finger hands IYKYK. It was hard to maneuver with so many customers shopping but manageable. Great sugary energy & vibe! Haha Connected to the candy shop is the ice cream parlor with giant waffle cones. Yum! read more

We stopped by the Sweet Candy Shop in Temecula before dinner just to check it out quickly, and we were blown away by how huge it was! They have everything you could possibly imagine, including their own ice cream parlor! We met Milad, who was incredibly kind and welcoming. He told us he would stay open until we came back after dinner, which was around 9:30 PM. We ended up getting back at 9:25, and sure enough, he stayed open just for us! His kindness and amazing customer service really made our experience special. We felt so welcomed and truly appreciated him going out of his way for us. This will definitely be a must-stop every time we visit Temecula. Highly recommend! read more

We came here after the Yelp event at Ten Hut. We were just like kids in a candy store-literally! We all bought baskets of sweets. My friend and I had ice cream. I had the mango sorbet with Taijin & Chamoy, which was tasty & refreshing! The young ladies working there were so sweet & friendly. The interior made you feel joyful & reminiscent of a candy store of a bygone era. The variety seemed endless with candies from different parts of the world as well as domestic favorites. I had a bit of the Dubai chocolate and loved it! My friend got the entire bar and she enjoyed it! This is such a fun shop and their ice cream is always on point! read more

Imagine stumbling into a candy wonderland so magical it makes Willy Wonka look like an amateur. That's exactly what happened, and so no Oompa Loompas at the Sweet Shop.... I walked in and was immediately hit w a sugar rush just from looking around! Rare M&M flavors I didn't even know existed? They have it!!! A bar of trendy Dubai chocolate my daughter has been dying to get her hands on? Absolutely!!! And yes, it cost a small fortune, but worth every bite!!! Rich pistachio flavor, crunchy kataifi, and just the right sweetness level? Amazing!!! Then came the plot twist..... white chocolate-covered gummy bears!! I repeat, WHITE CHOCOLATE gummy bears!! Mind blown!!! And as if the nostalgia gods were watching, I spotted candy cigarettes from my childhood ice cream truck days. Total sugar-fueled time machine!!! So many other nostalgic candy that you've got to see for yourself!!! Massive shoutout to Juliana for being the sweetest of the bunch. I'll definitely be back.... that Dubai chocolate is fire and has a hold on me!!! Stop by Zoltar outside so he can tell you your fortune!! read more

Another great Sweet Shop in Old Town Temecula. They have just about everything nostalgic sweet you can imagine plus a few new ones. They have fudge, baklavas, chocolate turtles, taffy, jaw breakers and much much more. The Carmel and Candied Apples are so so good. There is so much here that it would take too long to list . I highly recommend checking this place out and get your sweet tooth satisfied. The ambience of the store takes me back to the ole sweet shops when I was young. Tuesday 1/14/26 This establishment has an assortment of candies. You can find some interesting ones for adults and some fun-for-the-kids. Some items are toy and candy combo which kids can enjoy playing with. They even have popular retro candies. It's fun to look through all of the shelves and discover the many variations. However, the day I stopped by, one girl was stocking while the other one was at the other side of the store where they serve ice cream. Service could improve if they would focus on the customers and point out items that otherwise we would miss. (A selling technique) We also ordered shaved ice. It was way too big for the cup they serve them in. They were a mess and tasted awful. I threw them away. Cost me $5 each. (Please improve the serving cup and flavor syrups). The store had two other customers ordering ice cream. Not busy at all. Overall, this store could improve by; making better use of space and by providing attention to the customers. Make it fun and interactive and you'll sell more! read more

I think I enjoy it just as much as my kids! From nostalgic favorites like Sugar Daddies, Big Hunks, and caramels to rich toffee, Peanut Butter Cups, bottle caps, novelty drinks and chocolate fudge -- there's something sweet for everyone. They've got everything: Jelly Belly jelly beans, salt water taffy, Mexican candy, and even sugar-free options. You can mix and match or buy your favorites by the pound. No free samples, but the shop stays open late -- perfect for those after-dinner cravings or spontaneous candy runs! read more

While walking around on a warm day in Temecula, I stumbled upon this charming vintage-style ice cream shop and I'm so glad I did! I went with the peanut butter chocolate and made it into a sundae, which turned out to be a fantastic choice. It wasn't overly sweet, and the whipped cream and fudge were perfectly balanced not too heavy at all. They serve a wide variety of Thrifty ice cream, and the prices were very reasonable. While they don't offer samples, it wasn't a deal breaker for me. The shop was extremely clean, and the staff were polite and welcoming. Great stop for a sweet treat!!! read more

This review is just for the ice cream shop side of the business. We decided to stop in for some ice cream on a warm afternoon. The first impression was not too good as the interior tables were filthy with trash and other items not cleaned up as well as sticky stains on tables. Also, this is not locally made ice cream. It is Thrifty brand. That was disappointing after visiting several other nearby businesses that sell locally made products. Also, they do not let you sample any flavors. We have visited numerous ice cream shops around the world. Small businesses, major chain stores, etc. Every single one would let you sample flavors. Here the worker said this is not allowed, but she could "describe the flavors." Yikes! We tried the praline pecan ice cream as well as one of the frozen bananas. The ice cream was decent. Nothing amazing but perfectly fine. The banana unfortunately was not very flavorful. I could barely taste the chocolate coating, and the banana inside just did not taste very robust. This was a disappointing visit on many levels. I don't think we will visit again. read more

I was not expecting a candy store to be this cool. Nostalgia flooded my eyes and ears upon my first step inside. Literally felt like Willy Wonka opened the doors, invited me in, and started singing that song - you know the one. A vast assortment of freshly made chocolates and fudge, as well as all the candies you can think of. Zero bars? So good! Plus Knick knacks and toys and an ice cream shop next-door. Friendly staff and pretty affordable. We will come back again! read more

We went in there today and upon entering the young lady was scolding one of the parent customers about the store's poorly installed Christmas decor that was falling on its own. We watched in embarrassment for the customer and he was being scolded in front of his family and other guest while the other working girls were backbiting about the incident rather than promptly ensuring service. It was awkward for myself and outside family whom I wanted to impress with good hospitality to be a witness to conflict during an outing for ice cream of all things. The inability to try flavors was disappointing as was the description that was more comical to me but condescending to my out of town family. Here is where I was left completely confused because the young ladies seemed very much aware of their actions by encouraging each other and feeding off of each other's petty energy. It is my understanding that a tip is granted to those who ensure prompt and amicable service. She knew that wasn't the case because I was forced to intervene for family, remove them from foreign embarrassment and sacrifice myself to the subordinate comportment. She then very boldly proceeded to requested a tip after her poor comportment. I had to dismiss myself to help my disgust subside and reframe my mindset after that experience. The candy store is visually lovely though. I wish I would've been inspired to walk around and explore. Regarding the ice cream and experience I truly hope they were just having an off day and not being openly poor. Cold stone would have been a better option. read more

We went here last weekend as we needed dessert after our dinner! This place is attached to the ice cream shop. The sweet shop is a blast from the past! Very nostalgic with the variety of candies they have and knick knacks of toys and trading cards which is a big plus as I am a Star Wars fan! They sell baklava, fudge, caramel apples on a stick and SF (sugar free) treats! We went over to the ice cream shop and I got malted ice cream and rocky road. This is a magical candy store that you could probably spend hours in if you wanted. They have all kinds of candy and tchotchkes from present day to retro stuff. It brought back so many memories and I bought some candies and a yo-yo and a wooden flute for my sister that reminded me of the 60s. She loved the assortment of things that i bought her. For my myself I bought chocolate bacon, yum!! The store was just so chock full of interesting things and the owner was so sweet and kind and helpful. Our Old Town is the best! We have the cutest shops & restaurants. OT Sweet Shop is one of them. Their selection of candy and sweets is just beyond crazy. From the colorful bins of Jelly Belly's to salt water taffy and gummies sour & regular, they have what you want. Behind the glass counter there are dipped chocolates marshmallows, dipped bacon, caramel apples, & fudge the list goes on and on. If you're looking for old time candy this is your place, they also have all the current trendy stuff like freeze dried favorites, along with Swedish options & Mexican & Japanese. I love coming in here and just taking my time to grab a few pieces and try something new. Seriously, you want it they've got it. In the back there is a little section with retro toys from days gone by and just a little something for everyone. Next door is their little attached ice cream shop with more treats. Such a fun place to visit after dinner or grab some goodies before a show at our community theater a few steps away. It is a cute little ice cream shop but not too impressed with Thrifty ice cream. In a place like Old Town Temecula where the vibe is locally made products it would be great if there was a unique ice cream shop where the ice cream is made with unique flavors and seasonal options (as you can find at other little local ice cream shops). Mostly disappointed by the strict policy of no samples allowed. Even though you may or may not know what Thrifty ice cream already tastes like you may be feeling adventurous and try something new (which really could be the difference between making the sale for the ice cream or not) in my opinion. Decor and vibe is a bit outdated - service was just basic (really not much of a friendly smile or welcome) read more

My family and I came right when they opened on a saturday. What a big sweet shop! They had a good amount of retail candy in large variety. They also had candy/chocolate you can purchase by the pound. Then they also had homemade sweets behind the counter. Attached to the building was the ice cream shop. I was greeted kindly by the gentleman behind the counter. Service was great. I actually had a much better experience here compared to the other sweet shop that's not too far away ( the owner at sweet spot accused my husband of stealing a candy flashlight my toddler was holding that was actually purchased here). This is probably the only sweet shop I encountered that had home made turkish delights. My husband bought me some as a surprise. It was so delicious and tasted better than the ones you buy in a box from a chain store. Will come back in the future. read more
