$170 for this quality? My boyfriend decided to surprise me with a cake for my birthday. He's from out of town and decided to look for a bakery to custom make me a cake for my birthday. When I went to pick up the cake, the owner wasn't there so her son gave me the cake. Which was fine. But at first he tried to tell me that my boyfriend still owed $85 on the cake. Which my boyfriend had already paid in advance. I think he checked with his mom because after I told him it was already paid in full. He ended up going inside and then after gave me the cake. But when I saw the cake, I was immediately disappointed and didn't know what to say. It was a surprise so I didn't want to hurt my boyfriends feelings but the cake looked awful. I could tell the cake was meant to be a heart shape. But really it looked more like a triangle. The piping on the cake borders, the hearts and music notes, and even just the lettering was pretty bad. Some of the hearts don't even look like hearts. But I still didn't want to say anything to my boyfriend because it was sweet that he even tried to custom order a cake. But then, when he got there the next day and we cut the cake I was even more disappointed. It was at least 4 or 5 thin layers of cake with a thick layer of frosting in between to bulk up the cake. The outside icing was at least an inch to an inch and a half thick. I describe myself as someone with a big sweet tooth. But I honestly couldn't take more than 3 bites of the cake at a time before feeling sick from just how sweet it was. Also, the cake was moist, but super dense. Even a friend who is a chef said it seemed more like it was brownie batter than actual cake. I'm honestly super disappointed in the price and the quality. My boyfriend refused to tell me at first how much it was. But he finally told me it was $170. Which is honestly OUTRAGEOUS for the quality of the cake. And is what led to me wanting to leave a review. I wouldn't recommend getting a cake from here. The cake honestly looks like it was very rushed and I feel like the fact that my boyfriend was from out of town and paid in full prior to even receiving the cake, he was taken advantage of. My boyfriend ended up agreeing that the cake definitely did not meet expectations and we won't be ordering with this bakery again. I wish I had taken a picture of the inside of the cake so you could see just how thin the cake portion was and how many layers of icing were used to build it up. read more

My husband and I are BIG sweets people and did several cake tastings before our wedding in 2021 - we really took advantage of the socially acceptable reason to taste so many cake samples, haha! Karen's almond cake and cookie dough filling was by FAR our favorite. We booked her for our cake and also had her do a dessert table. She showed up on time and our dessert table was beautiful.
