The coffee & pastries here are great. However I couldn't help but notice (While waiting for my coffee) the amount of flies around the counter where coffee drinks are place and utensil area. My friend and I often visited this place after class when I was attending UCR. The food is good but can be a hit or miss. The first time I came here I got avocado toast and the bread was as hard as a rock. However, I recommend getting the tri tip sandiwch; it's so good! I came here on a Sunday morning around noon and the wait time for food was god-awful! I ordered around 12:00 and I didn't get my food for at least 40-50 minutes. Everyone else at my table got their food at least 20 minutes before I did, so they may have just forgotten to make mine but didn't acknowledge it at all. The outdoor/ indoor ambiance is pretty nice but I wouldn't come here to study because of how loud it gets unless you bring headphones. Heard from friends that their coffee was good and after research found out they also opened a second location with a bake shop. I tried their espresso and it was nice and simple. Not saying "simple" in a negative way but very enjoyable. Nice acidity and balanced throughout the mid while leaving slight sweetness at the end. The tri tip sando was great too. Since it is a bakeshop it looks like they bake their own biscuits for the sando. I would say the biscuit is what makes the sando stand out. Their baked goods are on another level. Their pastry chef must have aced their culinary school because it's rare to find light, crispy, buttery croissants like those served. But I am leaving my review for The Bakehouse since we would visit this location most often. To set the scene: We would often arrive, order a coffee and pastry, find a seat and proceed to do homework together. Staff was rarely friendly or welcoming, if at all. And we continued to drop by, thinking maybe we caught staff on a bad day. Nope, they're consistently rude. I've been a customer at their original location the past few years and always wished they would serve brunch food on the weekdays as well. Now they have delivered! We ordered the vanilla pine latte, croissant, and green shakshuka. The vanilla pine latte was okay - I thought the pine scent was a little overwhelming. The shakshuka was pretty good but on the saltier side. I enjoyed the tangy flavor of the green salsa, and the pita bread was good. But omg I have to say that croissant was the most buttery, delicious, fluffy cloud I have ever taken a bite out of. Wow. 10/10. I guess that's why they named this place the Bakehouse. The coffee and food are both exceptional. Staff is always friendly and greet customers with a smile. They are also super accommodating and just generally super customer focused. Coffee is great, the espresso I've had from here tends to lean towards the lighter side and helped me develop a more nuanced palate for lighter roasts. Best staff. This place feels like family. I Love the coffee here... its so good I drive here multiple times a week.... even with a small 10 Oz latte costing about $8 + with tax and tip... It's worth it. Promise. All the syrups are homemade. Riverside doesn't have many quality coffee shops so this place takes the gold medal. When they first opened the avocado toast was really good and worth $12 but they changed it and now it's okay. I like to get the side of scrambled eggs and toast with butter.
