I found Bill's post on craigslist and called to inquire about the terms i'm looking for in buying my next vehicle. We came to an agreement and i drove the 2.5 hours to his beautiful and well kept establishment. His office was very clean. Even his restroom was above standard. The appearance of his cars and his lot shows detail and cleanliness. They don't have crap cars on their lot. All their vehicles are nice and well kept. My Toyota Tundra that i bought from him is a great shape. I love it! it's a beautiful machine in which we worked out a great deal that met both our terms. I can tell that Bill and his wife are very honest and hardworking business people and i was able to get a sense of family and integrity in their business. We sat there in the office just chatting openly about many things, even when it was already closing time, they entertained our conversations and didn't just kick us out. I'm not too open to making comments about business establishments, but when i do it's because i want to show my appreciation in the honesty of hardworking people who show their customers the utmost respect. Thank you again Bill. My soon to be wife and I look forward to doing business with you again. =) One thing i must recommend to ANYONE buying a USED car is to do your research. Also know that a USED car is that. it's a USED car. A dealer can only check so much, therefore, before signing that contract. DO YOU HOMEWORK. There will be scratches or little door dings but expect that with age. Get the car inspected if you feel it's necessary. OR make sure you get a warranty by your bank or financial institution. I've owned and bought over 130+ cars in my lifetime. And I've dealt with numerous good and bad people along the way. I can tell you that Bill and his family are good people to do business with.

I purchased a 5 series BMW from this junk yard of a car lot the last day of JulAlong with the car, I purchased an extended warranty. In 3 days the engine blew and I contacted Bill. Man what a crooked liar of a business man. If this guy says he's your friend and cares about you and your family, watch out because he's about to get you GOOOOOD. Be very wary of a car dealership that has a body shop and mechanic off site. (Which was also cited for operating without a license.) Highline Auto Repair in Montclair just in case you're wondering. I was told that the car would be taken to somewhere and then they ended up taking it to a BMW dealership that said the engine needed to be replaced and would be in the neighborhood of $28,000. Since the car was under the dealerships "30 day" warranty AND my extended warranty, I figured it would be no worries and I'd have a new engine. Or some suitable solution. Boy was I wrong. I was told that my problem would be "pre-existing" and that the warranty company would not cover the repairs. Bill said he'd find an engine and we would discuss moving forward. What he actually did was replace the engine without my consent with some junk yard engine that had 20,000 MORE miles on it than the car actually had!! He then had the audacity to tell me that I owed him 1/2 of the repair. Which was only $3,000. How it went from $28,000 to $6,000 you could probably figure out. At any rate, I didn't want to go that route but I wasn't given a choice. He did the repairs even after I implicitly told him not to. I guess he forgot when we signed the contract it was MY car and MY property. After I refused to pay, he had my car on his lot for about 4 months. I was making the payments and got fed up. I had a spare key so I went to pick it up. Keep in mind these guys held my plates and registration. On the same day I freed my car from this guy I had a drivetrain malfunction light come on and the car didn't idle right. It had no power and acted like it was going to die. So I took it to a mechanic who said the spark plugs were all corroded and one of the coils needed to be replaced. Also the air filter was nearly completely clogged. So after $555 I was back on the road. What Bill didn't know was at the time the engine blew I contacted an attorney. I asked Bill several times to just take the car back and let's unwind the deal. At least 5 times I asked him in about 10 days. He said my only option was to pay to fix the car. I told him there was another option, but I'd rather not go there. I gave him several chances to make it right but the greed of this guy made him act like he had me pinned. The Auto Fraud Legal Center in San Diego immediately got on it and although it did take some time because this slimeball likes to stall, Bill finally took the car back and returned my down payment, all of my monthly payments, the insurance premium paid while he held my car hostage, the $555 repair bill, my court costs and my attorneys fees. All in all like $30,000 plus he ate the cost of the used motor. So, if you're there and see a White BMW 535i cream colored interior with za little hole in the passenger seat with 62 or 63K miles, just know the car actually has like 85,000 miles. I'm sure they'll show you a Carfax and everything. But I've got the invoice from BMW with the VIN that says otherwise. Oh, and I have the settlement agreement too. Just do yourself a favor keep driving past this cesspool. Because yes, dealerships don't have a crystal ball to see how a car will be a few days after it leaves their lot. I understand that. Most dealerships use that as a defense. But they have COMPLETE control over how they handle the situation if it arises. Frankly, Bill did a fantastically poor job of handling this situation like a professional. It took a court case to get him to budge. Very sad. I hope this helps anyone reading this. Thanks for paying me my money back. Enjoy the car! Avoid this dealership....

Once of the best choices I have ever made was going here. I have taken some time to write this…read morebecause I did not want to write a review that was without merit or value. In other words I truly wanted this review to be full of truth of experience and worth. Couple of things I was worried about. Buying a Car off Holt. Lets be honest there are not a lot of things that I have known that are good to buy off Holt other than street tacos. Not exactly the place I would think I would have an amazing customer service experience with great people and great product. Steve, and the Team here is what I would call Magnificent. I was not exactly what you would call an easy sale. I was also a bit strangely organized financially because of my type of business so I proved to be a bit of a challenge for them. Calm and collected they were never worried. Only me. I left this place driving an excellent car with great milage and what I would call no buyer remorse. Mostly because of the experience which I thought would or could get salted over time but it has not. There were a few issues with my purchase that involved the navigation and control module. Steve assured me he would help me take care of it and another minor issue was that the lights are so fogged up they hardly look they are on. Once I get to a place where I can drop this car off I will have it handled but either way I can say this. There is reason why this organization is 5 Stars. They do everything right. They have the cars you are looking for and more importantly the attitude needed to make a good experience. In sales its about the CAN DO attitude. I was frustrated and felt a bit hopeless and they made me feel like I mattered. Steve Knows Sales and the Finance Guy not only knew finances but also computers. It feels good to be treated with respect. This is going to be the place my entire family and friends get their cars from. Here are the reasons. GREAT PEOPLE GREAT PRICES STAND MY THEIR SALES AFTER SALES AND AFTER SALES CARE WORK WITH YOU TO MAKE WHATEVER THEY CAN HAPPEN THEY GO THE EXTRA MILE. THEY WORK WITH BAD CREDIT / ISSUES WITH CREDIT THEY WILL DO WHAT IS IN THEIR POWER TO MAKE THINGS WORK I won't share what Steve did for me as I closed the sale with him and took my new used car home but it was very kind and I think he does it for alot of people. A Little bit counts and goes a long way. I am thankful and grateful for LA COSTA Sales and look forward to more reviews and my family buys their next cars here. There is NOTHING and I do mean nothing that could have done better. Excellent work guys. Sorry for the delay but I really wanted this review to be full of truth, reflection and longevity. CONS: Holt Ave is not somewhere you want to be late at night. CONS: A Little Stuffy in the Sales Room CONS: Issues with Car / PRO - Not an issue for a team of people who want your experience to be a good one. They know what to do, how to do it and where to go if anything does come up. Used Cars are not exactly iron clad anything can happen but they seem to have most of the things you need covered or can handle any minor issues you need to take care of or the direction to point you to. 30 Years + Years of Business and Integrity and Experience makes this place a no brainer to shop for your next used car. If you are going to buy a used car and have no choice the good part is the choice of where to buy it has already been made up. Reviews like this for a car dealership like this is unheard of. Truly A Diamond in the Rough. BUY YOUR CAR here!

The 2 Lacosta brothers running this business are the most honest and trustworthy salesmen you can find in the area. They specialize in affordable used cars! Come here to buy, sell or trade! My family has been coming here since our struggling origins. When I say struggles, I mean, we were a ONE CAR household. My dad would drop my mom off at work in the mornings and either he or my aunt would pick my mom up from work. We had a humble living and even with one car, we couldn't afford anything too new. The La Costa brothers were there to provide their automotive knowledge and extremely reliable recommendations. The cars we purchased from them throughout the years had no headaches. When it was time to afford to budget a second car into our household, it was legendary. We felt extremely blessed and fulfilled to have what others would imagine to be basic necessities. La Costa Auto Sales was a major factor in making that transition possible for their reasonable rates and reliability. I will always always feel grateful that they were able to be there for us during tough times. Pass forward to the present, we are blessed to afford to buy newer cars from the Honda dealership, but that leaves us with an "old" car on hand. Honda offered quite an insulting value, and my dad immediately said No thank you! We knew selling it to La Costa Auto Sales would be an honest amount, whatever the offer would be. We saw Steve, and he did a thorough inspection and pulled up the car's official reports, and gave us his professional opinion. We knew it wouldn't be much, but we definitely trusted and appreciated any "value". That car has been good to our family for two decades, and it was really hard to let go. We trust that it will be good to its' new owner, and still keep the car in our prayers. As a family who has bought, traded and sold cars with La Costa Auto Sales for nearly three decades, I can in all honestly give them the ultimate seal of approval. When we have relatives or friends who are just starting out, need a used car for a beginning driver, or looking for a reliable used car, we would always direct them here and trust that a positive transaction would take place for both parties.

Car looked in great condition and beautifully detailed And it was definitely something that I was interested in. And I sent the information to my mechanic friend, and he said that the mileage that it was at was going to require it To get a certain service. After verifying that with toyota about this specific Highlander. I was so willing to get this vehicle, but I wanted it to be discounted for the price of the repairs that I was going to do on it within a week because of the mileage that required it to be done at that time. And without it it would not be a good outcome for this car. So I ask for the discount in between the price that both my friend mechanic and toyota quoted. And there was no budge. Great interaction, great communication, great cars. But yeah, if you're aware, and I'm aware a situation that requires a price discount. I think I should get it if i'm still willing to buy the vehicle just my thought.

Having to buy a car unexpectedly is never fun, and having an unexpected car note after 15 years isn't either. I'd been saying for years that I needed a larger vehicle since I now have several grandchildren, so I decided to purchase a minivan. After shopping several websites, I selected a van at STG in Montclair. I made an appointment, but when I arrived I was told to wait and after 15 minutes of being ignored I walked out. Went around the corner to Enterprise Car Sales. Best decision I ever made. Was greeted promptly by Sam, told him what I wanted and he got it for me. Test drove the van, the price was fair, but I needed to be sure. Went to a different place the next day, no luck. Sam called me he next morning to say he had another van for me to look at. Went in, test drove it, test drove the one I'd looked at previously for comparison, and decided to go with my original choice. The finance process was quick, everything was above board, no price switching or hidden charges. Plus Sam himself is a sweetheart; we are seniors and he explained all the new technology in the car and showed us how everything worked. It was like buying from my son.
