I drove from San Diego to Highline Auto Group dealership in Montclair this past Sunday to purchase a 2012 Toyota Tundra Crewmax that i have been researching for days. I found Bill's post on craigslist and called to inquire about the terms i'm looking for in buying my next vehicle. We came to an agreement and i drove the 2.5 hours to his beautiful and well kept establishment. His office was very clean. Even his restroom was above standard. The appearance of his cars and his lot shows detail and cleanliness. They don't have crap cars on their lot. All their vehicles are nice and well kept. My Toyota Tundra that i bought from him is a great shape. I love it! it's a beautiful machine in which we worked out a great deal that met both our terms. I can tell that Bill and his wife are very honest and hardworking business people and i was able to get a sense of family and integrity in their business. We sat there in the office just chatting openly about many things, even when it was already closing time, they entertained our conversations and didn't just kick us out. I'm not too open to making comments about business establishments, but when i do it's because i want to show my appreciation in the honesty of hardworking people who show their customers the utmost respect. Thank you again Bill. My soon to be wife and I look forward to doing business with you again. =) One thing i must recommend to ANYONE buying a USED car is to do your research. Also know that a USED car is that. it's a USED car. A dealer can only check so much, therefore, before signing that contract. DO YOU HOMEWORK. There will be scratches or little door dings but expect that with age. Get the car inspected if you feel it's necessary. OR make sure you get a warranty by your bank or financial institution. I've owned and bought over 130+ cars in my lifetime. And I've dealt with numerous good and bad people along the way. Where do I begin? This is going to be long, but trust me you'll be better off reading the entire post. I purchased a 5 series BMW from this junk yard of a car lot the last day of JulAlong with the car, I purchased an extended warranty. In 3 days the engine blew and I contacted Bill. Man what a crooked liar of a business man. If this guy says he's your friend and cares about you and your family, watch out because he's about to get you GOOOOOD. Be very wary of a car dealership that has a body shop and mechanic off site. (Which was also cited for operating without a license.) Highline Auto Repair in Montclair just in case you're wondering. I was told that the car would be taken to somewhere and then they ended up taking it to a BMW dealership that said the engine needed to be replaced and would be in the neighborhood of $28,000. Since the car was under the dealerships "30 day" warranty AND my extended warranty, I figured it would be no worries and I'd have a new engine. Or some suitable solution. Boy was I wrong. I was told that my problem would be "pre-existing" and that the warranty company would not cover the repairs. Bill said he'd find an engine and we would discuss moving forward. What he actually did was replace the engine without my consent with some junk yard engine that had 20,000 MORE miles on it than the car actually had!! He then had the audacity to tell me that I owed him 1/2 of the repair. Which was only $3,000. How it went from $28,000 to $6,000 you could probably figure out. At any rate, I didn't want to go that route but I wasn't given a choice. He did the repairs even after I implicitly told him not to. I guess he forgot when we signed the contract it was MY car and MY property. After I refused to pay, he had my car on his lot for about 4 months. I was making the payments and got fed up. I had a spare key so I went to pick it up. Keep in mind these guys held my plates and registration. On the same day I freed my car from this guy I had a drivetrain malfunction light come on and the car didn't idle right. It had no power and acted like it was going to die. So I took it to a mechanic who said the spark plugs were all corroded and one of the coils needed to be replaced. Also the air filter was nearly completely clogged. So after $555 I was back on the road. What Bill didn't know was at the time the engine blew I contacted an attorney. I asked Bill several times to just take the car back and let's unwind the deal. At least 5 times I asked him in about 10 days. He said my only option was to pay to fix the car. I told him there was another option, but I'd rather not go there. I gave him several chances to make it right but the greed of this guy made him act like he had me pinned. The Auto Fraud Legal Center in San Diego immediately got on it and although it did take some time because this slimeball likes to stall, Bill finally took the car back and returned my down payment, all of my monthly payments, the insurance premium paid while he held my car hostage, the $555 repair bill, my court costs and my attorneys fees. All in all like $30,000 plus he ate the cost of the used motor. So, if you're there and see a White BMW 535i cream colored interior with za little hole in the passenger seat with 62 or 63K miles, just know the car actually has like 85,000 miles. I'm sure they'll show you a Carfax and everything. But I've got the invoice from BMW with the VIN that says otherwise. Oh, and I have the settlement agreement too. Just do yourself a favor keep driving past this cesspool. Because yes, dealerships don't have a crystal ball to see how a car will be a few days after it leaves their lot. I understand that. Most dealerships use that as a defense. But they have COMPLETE control over how they handle the situation if it arises. Frankly, Bill did a fantastically poor job of handling this situation like a professional. It took a court case to get him to budge. Very sad. I hope this helps anyone reading this. I agree with Juan C. STAY AWAY. I almost didn't bother with this dealer after experiencing the female sales rep who was EXTREMELY rude and had a tenuous grasp on the English language as a whole, but after talking to Bill who made some questionable promises, I flew down from SF to view a car I was sworn was "in perfect condition". I show up to take it to get inspected and 10 feet off the lot the windshield gasket flies off the car!! The interior headliner was falling down and had water stains all over it, the DVD player didn't work, the paint and body was in OKAY condition at best. The AC wasn't charged either and the car had an oil leak. I must be the idiot for taking the word of a used car dealer, but this car was in far from the great condition promised over the phone. Integrity. Integrity. Integrity. Bill is a great man, and he backs everything he does. Proof? He just paid out of his own pocket to have the ENGINE replaced. What is his fault? No. What is our fault? No. Most likely it was the previous owner's fault, but Bill took care of us, and went over and above, spending thousands to make us happy with the purchase. You don't find people out there anymore like Bill. I'd absolutely trust him. REMEMBER THIS ONE THING when leaving a bad review for ANY used auto dealer - they don't have control over their inventory. They weren't the previous owners. It's a tough biz to be in... First off, I have to give it to Bill and his wife Suzan for being so hospitable and friendly. Bill is a straight shooter and doesnt BS. I'm a first time buyer and they really worked with me since I was on some what of a budget and my dad purchased a car from then a few months back so they were more trusting of me when it came down to the money. Once Suzan pointed out the cars in my price range, I spotted an '07 Camry and she immediately offered me the test drive and I fell in love with the car the second I left the lot. If you've stumbled upon this "dealer" during your search for a car; move along. These unethical excuse for sales people are not even worth your time or frustration. take a look at how long they have had the cars sitting on the lot and that will be a great indication of how great they are. The other review is correct, they really refuse to talk to women. They'll start by extorting them if they do call asking for more money up front when you've offered them plenty and been approved for financing already. They just want more. Then when you have a man call the guy will try the "owner" will talk over you and get angry when you tell them to you are walking away because of the issues. He will then begin to lecture you and try and tell you why you aren't even worthy of buying one of their over priced, busted ass cars. What are you even trying to prove? That'll make me say "OH YOU'RE RIGHT, I'M SORRY! LET'S DO BUSINESS!" Nope. Save yourself some time and money and get a better car by going somewhere real. By far the worst place to ever by a vehicle. Took them almost 2 months to get me my license plates. Vehicles are not checked out at all, bought at an auctions and thrown for sale. Worst experience ever. The owner, Gary Sr. was yelling obscenities at me over the phone loud enough for my children to hear because in his words (leaving the swearing out) " a $5000 car isn't worth his time". After I paid over $200 for repairs just to get the car to a sellable condition, prior to the sale, and over $1000 to replace bald tires, 2 valve cover gaskets, and other repairs, the original engine code which has been consistent since prior to the sale and has returned each time after 3 trips to their mechanics, they refused to do anything further to fix it. A code that should have prevented the inspection to begin with. However they reset the code each time claiming it was fixed. Don't believe the positive reviews, more than likely these have been written by employees... Do NOT do business with these people. They will lie, hide damage, and refuse to keep their written or verbal promises. read more
