Came here the other night to celebrate an anniversary. Didn't have any issues making a reservation for the same day. The décor and ambiance of this place is perfect for special occasions. I appreciate the COVID installed glass panels separating the booths not looking tacky like some other restaurants. It actually fits in seamlessly. If it wasn't for a pandemic, you wouldn't even know that that's what its purpose is. The food, unfortunately, was just alright. It didn't taste bad, however it was definitely not memorable. -Complimentary Rolls: This was memorable because it was hard as a rock. Had a difficult time just trying to tear a piece off. -Octopus Salad: When it was first brought out, all we saw was a pile of greens on top. It wasn't until we dug into it that we saw there were slices of octopus. The jalapeno vinaigrette gives this appetizer a kick. Presentation was lacking. -Mediterranean Sea Bass: Ordered this because it was one of their signature dishes. Honestly, the fish reminds me of when you go to 99 Ranch and you order/buy a fish and they fry it for you. Except this is deboned with the head removed. With that being said, the skin is fried perfectly. It's a mild fish so it's great for those who may not like seafood that is "fishy." The lemon foam makes this dish fancy. Our waiter was a straight to the point type of guy, very dry. No small chat. I wished the evening would have gone differently considering we were celebrating a special occasion. I have not dined in Pasadena for awhile because I thought it would be the same basic restaurant with no new concept until I found The Arbour. Randomly saw it on Yelp as we had a family member staying at the Langham and he wanted Italian. I was really impressed with everything we ordered, also the decor and ambience was above my expectation. Is The Arbour the newest hotspot for new culinary experience in Pasadena? Or maybe the only one? What we ordered for party of 3: Bucatini spaghetti-love love this spaghetti, super drench into the parmesan cheese infused alla vodka sauce almost like noodle soup. Highly recommend. Red Beet Salad- the presentation was nice, and the herb vinaigrette was delicious. Potato Croquettes- it was like a croquette nacho topped with bacon, can't go wrong with this appetizer. California Ceasar Salad-I love the generous large shave of the San Joaquin cheese, and the crispy almonds. Spicy Beef Chili- I could not stop staring at this edible candle, it lasted pretty long and was impressed there was such a thing. It was such a delightful presentation, and the chili was delicious with the toasted ciabatta. Highly recommend. Warm Apple Strudel- better than an apple pie in my opinion, though we should've asked for an additional scoop of ice cream because we were sharing. In preparation for my visit to Pasadena, I asked a local friend for recommendations and The Arbour was one of them. My friends and I were also in the mood for seafood and were celebrating a birthday so we chose to eat here. This is a cute spot with a very pleasant ambiance and a little greenhouse-like eating area in the front where we were seated. For drinks we ordered Chardonnay and cab sav by the glass and an old fashioned which were good all around. For food we selected the following, and naturally I tried them all: - Seabass: one of my favorite fish and it did not disappoint, the flavor was great and liked the side pairings - Shrimp Penne: lots of garlic and chive flavor but think it could have used something else in there and was a tad bit on the salty side for me. The shrimp was cut instead of whole but satisfied my pasta/seafood craving - Seared Tuna: also good but a tad too much wasabi (or what I thought was wasabi). - Chocolate Mousse: decadent and delicious and excellent pairing with the raspberries. This was birthday dessert that came with 2 bday candles. In conclusion, while the penne pasta dish was large, the other dishes not so much but everything overall was good. I also think it would've been nice to have a complimentary birthday dessert (we paid for the chocolate mousse) especially since we mentioned it was a birthday on the reservation. read more

They did sit us right on time though. ::app:: Spicy beef chili 4/5 very fresh and full of flavor, I thought the beef candle was really a nice touch. This did give me heart burn that night and I rarely get heart burn so bring tums lol. Potato croquettes 4/5 crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I enjoyed it but wish there was more. ::main course:: Parradelle pasta 4/5 the pasta tasted very fresh and it came out really hot. The pesto was really good and you could tell it was made that day. The only thing about this dish is that I wish it had more cheese. Great vegetarian option though. Seared raw yellowfin tuna 5/5 I do not care for seafood but this was very good. Had reservations for Mother's Day and was not disappointed! I love the ambiance here. Next Time I will try to sit near the open kitchen so I can watch the magic happen. I had the fusilli with pesto, also tried the filet mignon, potato croquettes, and spice chili appetizers. My pasta was delicious and was a huge portion, definitely two meals worth for me. The filet was great, I just didn't love the roasted veggies and gnocchi that came on the side. Potato croquettes are just fancy tater tots (as far as I could tell?), but they were yummy tater tots! I didn't try the spicy chili bread dip, but it came with a beef tallow candle which was a unique touch. You let the candle melt and then stir the tallow in to the chili before eating. Others in my party enjoyed it! The menu changes semi often, I would like to go back and try some different options next time. It's a little loud (typical of a busy weekend no matter where you go). The waitress asked my bourbon preference for my old fashioned, which I greatly appreciated, and showed the level of care they take with their customers. The environment balances warmth and class, and it's a great place to catch up for a great meal with dear friends, or would be a lovely date night option, as the menu has something for everyone, and the quality is worth it. We've lived in Pasadena for over 5 yrs and this was our first time at Arbours. Food was fantastic. We had the croquettes, the prosciutto toast and flatbread and they were all great. Absolutely delicious dinner meal. I came because I thought they still have a happy hour menu, but they do not. However, the meal I had was amazing! I really came for just the oysters, but I was so impressed by the bread that I had a second helping. The pasta (which is an appetizer) was a perfect size for me as a small woman with a big appetite. I was so stuffed I couldn't order dessert. I need to come back and get the duck next time and more drinks because all I had room for was an Arnold Palmer. The ambiance was great and the staff are very attentive. I was impressed because even the guests were all masked (before arriving), and that's a rarity anywhere these days. Made a reservation for 7pm today, arrived and spoke to the lady at the front. She first tried to tell me my reservation passed and was made for 5pm but I made it around 6pm for a 7pm reservation. She began saying "I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do." with an attitude. I even showed her my email confirmation with the time stamp saying I made it at 6pm. She took a quick glance at it and still said "Sorry, it was made for 5pm." It clearly stated 7pm but she just didn't look at the time. Shocker, turns out that reservation was for a different party with the same first name. Maybe try confirming the full name before turning away guests. She apologized for the mixup but it definitely was not a great first impression on the restaurant. Other than that, our server Judy was amazing and attentive. Such a lovely woman. We were celebrating my birthday and she sang happy birthday to me when the dessert was brought out. The food was lovely and large portions. Definitely suitable for a family style dinner. If you like warm neutrals, and the weather washed natural look, book a table and enjoy. Now about the "farm to table, local ingredients". Does the Arbour source their ingredients from local farms, and direct acquisition from a farmer? I suppose my salad greens may have been. The Salad greens may not have traveled far, but the chef who made my salad has a long way to go. There is nothing worse than over dressing a salad. Salads are supposed to be light, bright, and full of life, this one hit the table flat, limp, and soggy, with lots of dressing at the bottom of the bowl. - 1 Star. Appetizers are the prelude to a meal that help stimulate the appetite. Appetizers loaded with calories, fat, and sodium are often the most tempting items on a restaurant menu. At The Arbour, moderation is key. The potato croquettes ($15) sit on a bed of creme franchise, and topped with bacon and cheese. The problem here is the size (5 tot size) and preparation. The potato was under seasoned and was not masked by the toppings. Seasoning should bring out or intensify the natural flavor of the potato. Amateur fail here -1 Star. The Penne with Shrimp was well made as was the sea bass. Oysters were fresh and nicely prepared. Cocktails were adequate. Service is attentive and quick. If upscale is what you seek while dining, Pasadena a has many options. Upscale dining is a restaurant experience that is typically more sophisticated, unique, and expensive than one you will find at this restaurant. But the restaurant itself is lovely - the vibe is like an upscale neighborhood gastropub. It was bustling but spacious and has a pretty open kitchen. Service and food were both great, and we both said to each other towards the end of our meal "we should definitely come back here" to try more of the delicious-sounding menu. They're a farm to table restaurant, really focused on local ingredients. First of all, our server Pam, is/was awesome. She's a real salt-of-the-earth type. Her recommendations are great, and she's super attentive. Secondly, the food is top, and I mean TOP notch. The filet mignon dish is out of this world. The salmon is solid. The Lobster risotto is very good. Big pieces of lobster throughout - though they didn't remove the cartilage in one of the claws. I'm from Boston though, so I knew what to look for and expect when biting into claw meat. They do shell the lobster expertly though, and the claw meat comes out fully intact. The Apps are maybe better than the entrees?? The tagliatelle is literally the greatest pasta dish in existence. Absolutely mind-numbingly delicious. The beef chili with the fat candle is super rich and hearty. Can't wait for the weather to get cold and I'm gonna order that thing again. Drinks are also very nicely poured. The bartender knows how to actually make a drink. It's not all mixer. You taste the booze, and get a nice head change off one drink. When your work says you are going to the Coldplay concert at the Rose Bowl and to bring 5 clients, my answer was, easy work. What was tough was where to bring clients for food and drinks before. My colleague Jeaneen said she heard the Arbour was the diamond in the rough. I will say it now, this establishment deserves a Michelin star for sure. From the start, Paige and the whole staff were 5 stars. They had smiles, recommended dishes, and ensured everyone was having a great time. My boss and I ordered for the whole table based on the fact he is from Milano, Italy and there were many pastas on the menu. I mean the bread with thyme butter already knocked the socks off the whole table. The beet salad and the tagliatelle were the appetizers that just kept everyone saying I can't wait for the entrees cause it was so delicious. We had a peach and burrata dish that was Italian approved by my boss. I'm a fisherman and the whole table chose fish for the entrees since it is a seafood heavy restaurant. My boss noticed the carbonara was a cream base but the bacon/pork belly that came with it made up for the blemish. I vouch for the yellowfin tuna and sea-bass dishes. Pure bliss for sure. I don't have pictures of everything just due to work etiquette but rest assured, your money is worth every penny here. Had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Arbour and here's what I thought. Getting seating was easy for last minute party of 3. We booked online. And had a table an hour later. This was during weekday. In comparison, we tried to book at several other nearby spots with no luck. Staff was friendly and efficient. We ordered, the lobster risotto, sea bass, and potato appetizers and also the tuna. The sea bass reminded me of a Chinese salty fish dish my mom used to make. It was crispy and delicious. My girlfriend loved the risotto (a little salty for my taste) and the tuna was also a big hit with my friend. Outdoor dining on the sidewalk or in their covered patio in the front. Service: Hit and miss. On our first visit (two years ago) the server was very friendly and attentive, but it was a different story on our recent visit. Service was a bit slow and at times I had to repeat myself couple of times. Food Of Choice: 1) Complimentary bread rolls: Quite addicting. Guilty of stuffing my face with these before the main entrees come out. 2) Sauteed mussels, white wine, garlic, english peas, chili flakes, toasted ciabatta: Very good. Mussel meat was small in size, but was very fresh. I was quite happy that I didn't taste any sand. The english peas was a pleasant surprize. Never had mussels with peas before, but it went quite well with the entree. Wasn't crazy about the chili flakes and the toasted ciabatta was sooo good. Make sure you put some of that white wine sauce into the bread. Soaks it quite nicely and was very yum with every bite. 3) Bacon tart, puff pastry crust, bechamel sauce, onion, parmesan cheese, wild greens. Wasn't pleasing to the eye, but it was quite yum! Flaky and quite flavorful. 4) Mediterranean sea bass, polenta cake, roasted fennel, baby bok choy, celery root puree, lemon foam. Preferred this entree over the duck. It was delicious. The sea bass was fresh, polenta cake was yum, and was quite impressed with the usage the of baby bok choy. 5) Duo Of Duck, Roasted breast and leg confit, parnip puree, baby turnip, spinach, peppercorn sauce. Due to covid, there's no more fancy smoke effect when they bring out the duck like two years ago. Duck was tender, moist, and the leg confit fell off the bone quite nicely. Wasn't feeling the peppercorn sauce. 6. Vanilla Panna Cotta: I thought the dessert was okay. i did like the use of the short bread cookies.
