For over 25 years, this spot has remained a "go to" in the community, and we love seeing these old school treasures continue to thrive. From the moment you walk in, you get those nostalgic, old-school vibes. Loved all of the decor and pictures of fisherman throughout the place. The service here was awesome. Super friendly and welcoming, and the gentleman at the register gave great recommendations. He knew the menu well and was able to help me out with some suggestions. Honestly, the menu is so extensive it was hard to choose, but here's what I went with: Fish & Chips (2 piece plate): 5/5. The batter was light yet perfectly crispy, not overly heavy, and the fish itself was fresh, flaky, and high quality. Paired with a solid tartar sauce, this is a must order dish. The French fries were classic and I loved their coleslaw. Grilled Thresher Shark Plate: 4.5/5. This one was a standout for me given how hard it is to find shark on menus nowadays. I actually grew up eating shark, so this felt super nostalgic. The staff highly recommended it, and I'm so glad I listened. The grilled shark was mild, tender, and full of flavor thanks to their delicious balsamic glaze marinade. If you've ever been curious about trying shark, this is the place to do it. I'll be back again for this soon. Overall, the food was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying and the best part? It doesn't break the bank. Prices were reasonable and portions were generous. We decided to try a seafood staple in Oxnard during our latest jaunt down south…read more We parked on the street in front but there also was a parking lot right next door. Dinner that weekend was quiet with a couple other tables occupied. The wall showcasing the generations of Otani's in Oxnard was a good read while we waited for our order. A large white board was the menu. Lots of options to pick from. However with the variety we ordered the food was just ok with the grilled snapper and fries being the stand outs. The fried fish seemed a bit too oily, the tempura batter too thick on the vegetables and the clam chowder needed more flavor. Given the years in business, I was hoping for more from the food.

Not bad, just different. It didn't like it was a happy place. We immediately were seated, looked over the menu and decided. My wife had a BLT, the bacon looked like it had been sitting out, not a fresh appearance at all. She said it had a lack luster flavor, I ordered the traditional breakfast with sausage links, scrambled eggs, hash browns and toast. Everything other than the hash browns were luke warm. Sausage appeared to have been sitting out as well, didn't seem freshly cooked. Something we usually do prior to trying different places, we look over their reviews, like I said we tried this place on a whim. We learned our lesson, with this one. It's seems like it's trying to be a bar that serves food, instead of a restaurant with a bar.
