Hmm... I have very mixed feelings about this place. I think I might need to come back one more time to give it a fair second review. I came here on a Sunday with my boyfriend for a late lunch / early dinner. When you first walk in, the place seems pretty empty and has a slightly rustic, older look to it--which honestly isn't too surprising for an Italian restaurant. What did surprise me though was how busy it got around 5pm. The place filled up quickly. As soon as we sat down, the host brought out bread and it was delicious. You could tell it was fresh, warm, and super tasty--it definitely left us wanting more. For our starter, we wanted to try a little bit of everything so we ordered the Capriccio sampler, which comes with bruschetta, scampi, and calamari. The scampi was good but I do think it needed a bit more flavor. The bruschetta was actually really good and I loved that the bread wasn't soggy, which I always appreciate. The calamari wasn't my favorite--it wasn't as crispy as I usually like it--but it wasn't terrible either. Next we ordered the Dominic pizza and OMG... this was the star of the night. The pizza was out of this world! It was creamy, packed with flavor, and honestly I couldn't get enough of it. I would genuinely come back just for the pizza alone. For our main dish we ordered the ravioli, and this is where I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting more flavor, but it ended up tasting pretty bland and just didn't hit the way I hoped it would. Overall, I wasn't completely blown away by everything, but maybe we just didn't order the right dishes (aside from the pizza, which was amazing). This place is a Ventura staple. It's always crowded for dinner. We made a reservation but still waited a few minutes. The wait staff are very nice. We ordered the fettuccine with scallops, pizza sofia with ham and mushrooms, and pasta with sausage. Unfortunately the scallops pasta was overcooked and scallops were tough but the sauce was good. The sausage was excellent. The pizza was also very good. The Cesar salad was great. I like the lively crowd, it was very festive for the holidays. This place says that it's Italian. This isn't Italian, it's a the worse Italian I've ever eaten in my life. I have had better Italian in China. I had the salmon with a red cream sauce which they think that it maybe vodka sauce,it's not.they chopped the salmon in small pieces and drowned it in the sauce. Not good. Service was slow getting to our table but when they finally got to our table she did a good job, but they suggest to start tipping at 20 pct. They'll tell you what dishes are really good and worth getting. Food: 4/5 Their house bread is so good! It was a bit hard on the outside- but super warm and soft on the inside. I ordered a lobster bisque soup, and it was amazing! Dip that bread in there and mmmm. Chefs kiss! Next up, I ordered the seafood pasta. I am not a pasta girl- but this one was really tasty. I felt like it needed salt, but then the sever walked around with freshly grated Parmesan. It was perfect after that! I wish I ordered a bit more sauce in the side, but nevertheless it was still really good! Lastly, I ordered a dessert. I took a slice of key lime Pie to go. My husband and I were in town with a friend and wanted something local to eat and stumbled upon this place! It didn't seem bad! We had a dog and they allowed us to sit in the back as we told them dog is good and quiet so they allowed it! We ordered two pasta dishes! We had the . As I was eating, I found hair which really upset me! I didn't continue because I get grossed out! I mean it's a restaurant! When I brought it up to the server, her response was rude! " a lot of people tell us that they find hair and it's from the napkin" really? What do you wash your napkins with? Why is there hair! It's a restaurant and the response I got isn't appropriate! Yikes! I love a good Italian restaurant, unfortunately Capriccio is not the place for me. We ended up sending our meals back and leaving. The service was extremely slow, but we were out on the patio and the only people out there, so I think they just forgot. We elected to sit on the patio due to having our dogs. We got chicken piccata and some seafood pasta (scallops). The chicken piccata was Olive Garden status. It was edible and I would have kept it, my the seafood pasta was inedible. We had a lovely dinner here! Starting out, our waitress brought us the table bread and we were in heaven. The bread is so good that we thought it was the best we've ever had. Our waitress was also super friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. For an appetizer we tried the pizza caprese and it was super cheesy but light. The crust was crunchy and we loved it. The risotto wasn't even fully cooked. One is not meant to have to chew through risotto... ugh. The vegetables were large chunks and completely under-cooked. We had a wonderful dinner at Capriccio last night! The food and service were perfect. We never felt rushed as at most restaurants where they bring the courses too fast. We had seafood pesto, seafood linguini, chicken Parmesan and salted fish. Everything was cooked perfectly and melted in our mouths. This definitely one of our favorite restaurants. Tasty Italian food, I always feel like I'm coming here for a nice, home cooked meal. Really gives off that family dining room vibe and is just so relaxing to sit down and enjoy the food. They always start you off with a delicious loaf of fresh, fluffy bread complete with the necessary olive and vinegar. One of my favorite parts about coming to Capriccio. They always do great lunch specials. Their pizzas are delicious, but their eggplant parmigiana is where it's at. A fat piece of eggplant with plenty of sauce but could use a bit more cheese. The star of this place right off the bat is their bread. Baked daily throughout the day it's as fresh as you're going to get and it's wonderful! The server was very nice and quick. I had the capellini and shrimp and my friend had the salmon salad. We both thought they were ok. I think my shrimp needed some seasoning. The dish was light which was a plus. After searching up different places to have dinner for my moms birthday I came across Capriccio. I was able to get same day reservations for 9 ppl on a Saturday which I was so thankful for. The staff was very welcoming, and we were sat right when we arrived and served rosemary bread which was delicious. They had a great wine selection. I had a Pinot Grigio that was so good. I definitely enjoyed my food just as much as my wine. I had the bolognese, and I literally ate my entire plate of food. It was delicious. My mom had the ravioli and really enjoyed it! I came here on a valentines date with a friend. The food was delicious! And the portions were hefty. I had enough to take for lunch the next day. Let me start off by saying the manager is not the greatest. Typically managers are warm and inviting but here the gentleman with the bun is always very callous and in some ways quite rude. He a long time ago was very inviting, but the last few times we've been there he hasn't been welcoming, especially as a manger. Our waitress Kassie was absolutely incredible which was the reason we decided to stay rather than leaving. The next problem however was when one of us got up to use the restroom, the table was so wobbly and his wine spilt all over himself when he scooted his chair back without touching the table. Insane. Our food was pretty average as it was okay food, it just felt like it was missing something. After eyeballing this place for sometime. My girlfriend and I decided to finally stop by on a Friday at 5pm and to our suprise we were seated right away. Cute resteraunt on Main Street and nice ambiance on the inside. Great menu, good variety of options. Great selection of wine here to our suprise. Our server was very helpful and kind and our food was out in minutes which was awesome . We ordered the Mushroom Ravioli that's in a lemon sauce and dear lord that dish was so good!!! I would rate that dish a 10 out of 10. Very good portion as well for the price. We also ordered tbe chicken parm and that dish was the opposite. HORRIBLE. Soggy and no flavor/seasoning on the chicken. The pasta and the sauce is axtually good and we ate that part of the dish but I was so dissapointed with the chicken. I honestly was going to rate this place 3 stars but my gf and I really loved that ravioli and that was their saving grace for a 4 star rating. Right off the bat service was iffy on a Thursday night. Nobody greeted us and we stood there for a while until seated. It seemed that there were only two workers doing everything and there were about 8 tables and the service was slow. The ambiance in there is odd, tables in the middle feel crammed and are facing the other tables next to you directly. Feels cramped and not like a usual italian restaurant with nice lighting and music. We ordered two different pasta dishes and the calamari. Food was all good!
