Great way to cap off a day along the Ventura County coast! I haven't been to Ottavio's since they had a location in Thousand Oaks in the 80s. Man! That was a HH the likes of which will never be seen again. But I digress...TODAY is today! Great, private parking lot with easy in/out. We came in for a lovely dinner and got just that. Seated immediately and in a comfy booth along the wall, perfect for people watching. SO. MANY. PEOPLE! I wasn't expecting a restaurant to be so full on a Tuesday night, but when you're as good as Ottavio's you develop a loyal following of locals who enjoy their time here. Many celebrations were obviously being had in just our little portion of the restaurant. There are multiple rooms, accommodating various sized parties, and the hot, delicious Italian faire just kept coming. Fresh, warm bread was delivered with our water and we dove into that doughy deliciousness strait away. Hubs went with a 50/50 plate of spaghetti and cheese ravioli with a meat sauce and added meatballs. I snuck a bite of the meatballs and they were very good, as was the sauce. I opted for the Tortellini Silvana, which was described as cheese tortellini w/sauteed chicken, fresh spinach, basil and sun dried tomato cream sauce. It was FABulous! Light and delicate sauce with full flavor. A generous portion, I took about 1/2 home! Our entrees each came with a choice of soup or salad. Hubs chose Italian Wedding and I went with Minestrone. (Side note: I knew well and good I would be having 2 soups, so I wanted to try both. ;-D) Both were made from scratch and delicious! I was impressed with how fluid the staff worked along side one another. Drinks then food then boxing and the check and - voila! - table turned and on to the next group, all while maintaining a welcoming and pleasurable attitude and friendly service. We have been to this restaurant many times. This time we brought a friend who has never been. All was ok. But if I wanted ok I could have gone to another restaurant. The Belvedere salad was the disappointment of the evening. Picuters speak volumes. Iceberg lettuce was fine as it is the norm to cut costs. I've been hearing that their lunch buffet is back. We gave it a try and it was delicious. Best salad bar in town and you can go back as many times as you want. There were dairy free vegan options for me. I didn't feel deprived. The minestrone soup & endless variety at the salad bar made it the perfect lunch. What an amazing dinner this evening at Octavio's in Camarillo. The place was very busy and the hostess welcomed me and sat me at a nice cozy booth. Jerry was my server and was assisted by two other team members. Fantastic service. I ordered the chicken parm and a side of one meatball and one sausage with an iced tea. The fresh bread was excellent as was the meal. The chicken parm was cooked perfectly and so juicy. Probably the best chicken parm I have tasted in years. Hidden Gem Deli Vibes! This review is just for the Deli side of this amazing, comforting spot--a place you walk into and immediately know you'll be back for a full dinner someday! The deli is open Tues-Sat, 10:30-2:30, and it's worth making time for. Grab a sandwich, pizza, or their clam chowder on Fridays (so good). Don't skip the Italian market section--I always snag Lupini beans there (iykyk). It honestly feels like stumbling upon a little slice of Italy in a hidden corner. Very nice employees who care about what you are ordering. There's outdoor seating out back to enjoy your food, and you can even peek into the restaurant's lobby to tempt yourself for a future visit. Ohhh Ottavios! EXCELLENT! I cannot say enough about this family owned Italian restaurant! Great location in the heart of old town Camarillo, easy to get to, plenty of parking, large bar with seating and lots of room in the regular dining areas! If you're looking for a place for a birthday party or any other celebration THIS IS A FANTASTIC OPTION! We had my 60th Birthday party and the private room was perfect! They seat up to 50 but our party of 34 fit perfectly for dining and dancing! We brought in our own sound w/mics and had plenty of space to work with! EXCELLENT SERVICE! Big shout out to Audy & Jaxon who were so amazing! I think there might have been one other too (can't remember their name) They were so attentive, friendly and thorough from start to finish! Our food ordering went so smoothly and everything was served hot off the stove! And delicious! Our guests loved the food and couldn't say enough about it! Same with the service, always making sure our water glasses were filled, drink orders covered as well as clearing plates away! So on top of it all! And...loved the room! We eat here occasionally. The food is always great. My wife had the chicken piccata and I had the sausage and peppers dish. Both were outstanding. Service was very good. It is fairly expensive but worth going from time to time. There were also quite a few vegetarian options. read more

What happened to Ottavios in Camarillo?? We went the day before Mother's Day to enjoy lunch. Had to pay at reception, no menu just buffet, no waiter came, food was cold. Ask the receptionist if we could order drinks and was told to go to the bar! There was no one at the bar! Ridiculous. I went here last year for a function and then finally last week my son and I went. It was incredible! The minestrone warmed me from the bottom of my feet to the top of my head. I had the Capellini del Pomodoro which was so full of flavor. And gave me enough to take home for lunch. Bravo! read more

Sadly this place isn't what it used to be. I hadn't been there in a few years. Met old friends for lunch today. No menu items. Only the lunch buffet or order from the deli counter. The buffet included a very small salad bar and two warmers with pasta dishes. Neither looked appealing so we went to the counter. We waited several minutes before anyone bothered to take our order. The food was delivered to our table in to go boxes so we asked for plates so we could mix our salads. The food was not even as good as presto pasta (which i do not especially care for). Let me start with this: Ottavio's is a Camarillo staple. This is tradition. This is where you go on birthdays. This is Camarillo. It holds a very special place in my heart. I love it here and I'd never give it less than 5 stars. With that said, I know it's not the world's best Italian food. It's a very American version of Italian food, but it's perfect for what it is. I understand this is different than a meal you'd get in Italy. But sometimes dinner is more than that. The menu has every classic you want and it's full of classic Italian dishes that will warm your heart. It's consistent, it's always good, and it always makes me happy. And for me, that's what food should be. Food should bring me joy, and Ottavio's brings me joy every time. The inside is perfect. It's old school Italian American and I pray it never changes. It has an old school 70s vibe and I'd probably die if they ever changed the decor. The service is always top notch. While it might not be perfect, every employee has always been so kind to me and my family. I've been coming to Ottavio's since I was a kid (so for 30 + years), and I truly love it every time. 5 stars based on tonight's experience with a pizza pick up order. I haven't been here in years, but since returning to the area, I have been wanting to come. Was shopping at the outlets tonight and trying to figure out dinner and thought of Ottavio's for a pizza take out. It was 10 minutes to 8, they close at 8, and called to see if I still had time to order. They said no problem. Small pizza with olives $17-ish. Little mishap upon picking it up (they mistakenly made the wrong pizza) Had to wait a bit for the correct pizza, Jerry offered water, rolls, butter, olive oil and balsamic to pass the extra wait time. You can't go wrong with their roles so of course we accepted. They were as good as I remembered. It's such a old world ambiance sitting in there. Not only did we get what we ordered (olive) we we're also given the incorrect pizza (pepperoni) as well. (No sense in waste) Decided to have 1 piece of each for dinner, and it was delicious. This is my first time here and I've lived here since 1985! I've missed out! We celebrated a friend's birthday and they come here all the time. We had a booth in the bar and the service was friendly but a little slow. Once we received out drinks and their wonderful warm bread we were settled in for a wonderful dining experience. I hadn't had Lambrusco for ages and I really enjoyed it! I ate a late lunch so I wasn't too hungry so I ordered their famous clam chowder and it did not disappoint. It is on par with Spencer Mackenzies except no bread bowl. The rest of my group loved their spaghetti and meat balls and tortellini. One issue that I personally had was, as a retired Asst. Fire Marshal, that two emergency exits appeared to be blocked by dining tables and chairs. I urge the local fire department to evaluate this hazard and mitigate this fire/life safety issue. We'll be back but won't sit in those areas if it's not corrected. read more

I have had their pizza, wings, (Belvedere) salad, & artichoke appetizer. All were very tasty and reasonably priced. Great service provided by Christina, Audi and Devin. They have indoors seating, outdoor seating, and a bar area with several TVs. I believe they recently started a daily lunch buffet which I look forward to trying when I am back in that area again. This review is for their market and deli. How have I not known about this place??!!?? You'll come across the entrance as you exit the parking lot for Ottavio's. I came in to try one a sandwhich. I ordered their Italian dip sandwich which came with a side of jous (the real stuff, not crappy beef broth) and tapenade. They bake their own bread onsite. I enjoyed it tremendously. The deli manager was extremely friendly. Within a minute he offered me a taste of their Cotswold cheese. Well, I got a pound of that. I mentioned that I have to drive to Granada Hills to get finocchiona (fennel) salami and Calabresr. He had both in the counter. That'll save me time and money! There are a couple of tables outside, so it's more of a take out situation. I'll definitely be back to try their othet sandwiches and check out their grocery goodies. read more

I had the eggplant parm and it was so tasty that i didn't even touch the spaghetti it came with. I did try it but it was ok, the marinara sauce tasted a little bland and jar like but the main dishes were absolutely delish! I was told the salmon was so good and the chicken piccata had the perfect lemon and caper taste. On top of the tasty food and drinks I was so surprised to see the prices were so reasonable! First time at Ottavio's and had a quite satisfying meal! The portions are very generous, and by the time my entree arrived I was already pretty filled from the fresh baked bread and soup that came with the entree. We enjoyed the calamari for its balance of crispy, chewy, and light seasoning. Seafood Tatte de Mare had plenty of seafood and I opted for the creamy white sauce. The pasta noodles were perfectly cooked al dente which I liked. The food is very homey and comfortable. It's not exceptional but I would be happy to come again. I also tried the linguini con shrimp e clam which I liked better than mine. The lasagna was classic and well done. The gnocchi was plentiful. The restaurant's seating itself is fairly cramped and we were next to a large group that was kinda loud. If you're looking for a quiet restaurant this may not be the spot since it's hard to hear another person at the table. read more

We went for an early dinner with friends. We hadn't been there in a while, so we took our friends' recommendation for the double-cut pork chop with mushroom risotto. The side was a sautéed spinach that was very flavorful. I wish there was more of it. We shared the pork, but it wasn't the best I've had. The risotto made up for it and had huge slices of mushrooms. The portion was ample to share and still allow leftovers. We also shared a cup of lobster bisque that was very good. It was quiet, maybe because we were early. Our server was very attentive . I recently had the angel hair and it was covered and chopped tomato. There was barely any pasta in the dish just tomato.. I've had the pizza here and it was not good at all, I had the chicken piccata and it was boring and flavorless I've had the tortellini and cream sauce and it was way too rich. Custom sandwich was delicious, the fresh bread soaked up all the oils and vinegar. The pasta with meats sauce and sauce was made fresh, and great price for the lunch combo.
