Great way to cap off a day along the Ventura County coast! I haven't been to Ottavio's since they had a location in Thousand Oaks in the 80s. Man! That was a HH the likes of which will never be seen again. But I digress...TODAY is today! Great, private parking lot with easy in/out. We came in for a lovely dinner and got just that. Seated immediately and in a comfy booth along the wall, perfect for people watching. SO. MANY. PEOPLE! I wasn't expecting a restaurant to be so full on a Tuesday night, but when you're as good as Ottavio's you develop a loyal following of locals who enjoy their time here. Many celebrations were obviously being had in just our little portion of the restaurant. There are multiple rooms, accommodating various sized parties, and the hot, delicious Italian faire just kept coming. Fresh, warm bread was delivered with our water and we dove into that doughy deliciousness strait away. Hubs went with a 50/50 plate of spaghetti and cheese ravioli with a meat sauce and added meatballs. I snuck a bite of the meatballs and they were very good, as was the sauce. I opted for the Tortellini Silvana, which was described as cheese tortellini w/sauteed chicken, fresh spinach, basil and sun dried tomato cream sauce. It was FABulous! Light and delicate sauce with full flavor. A generous portion, I took about 1/2 home! Our entrees each came with a choice of soup or salad. Hubs chose Italian Wedding and I went with Minestrone. (Side note: I knew well and good I would be having 2 soups, so I wanted to try both. ;-D) Both were made from scratch and delicious! I was impressed with how fluid the staff worked along side one another. Drinks then food then boxing and the check and - voila! - table turned and on to the next group, all while maintaining a welcoming and pleasurable attitude and friendly service. We are sure to have another meal here, next time we're craving old school Italian, homemade, handed down family recipes in Camarillo. Cheers! "CC"

Had a wonderful dinner this evening at Octavio's. I was greeted by two lovely hostesses and seated at a nice hightop table near the bar area. Sophia was my amazing and kind server and approached right away asking for my drink order after a brief introduction. Sophia also offered me some fresh bread and butter with my iced tea. The other staff members were also very kind and efficient. Sophia returned and took my entree order of chicken parmesean and it came with soup or salad and I opted for the minestrone soup. The soup was terrific and another staff member brought out my entree which was delicious and plentiful. I could not eat all of it but focused on the chicken and veggies. A terrific meal and popular establishment. They also have a deli/market. Highly recommended

I've been hearing that their lunch buffet is back. We gave it a try and it was delicious. Best salad bar in town and you can go back as many times as you want. There were dairy free vegan options for me. I didn't feel deprived. The minestrone soup & endless variety at the salad bar made it the perfect lunch. Friendly service & I love supporting a Camarillo classic. Give them a try :)

This restaurant has been on our 'Try' list for some time. We decided that we would order take-out and check out the cuisine. Upon arrival, the place was packed, but got lucky and found parking at the To-Go area. We ordered some basics, just to get an idea of the food tastings. My wife ordered the Sausage & Pepper Plate which she loved !! The sausage was plump and juicy with just the right amount of spiciness, while the peppers added a nice texture and subtle sweetness. The pasta was cooked al dente and the sauce was balanced with nice sweet and spicy notes. Her Bruschetta was made with a traditional Balsamic vinegar and tomato seasoning that paired perfectly with the bite-sized, crunchy bread bites. My Caesar's salad was ok, plain, but ok,. However, the dressing, in my opinion, had way too much parmesan cheese, overly creamy, and not enough sharp tanginess, that usually comes from the sardines. My shrimp were packaged separately, which is to be expected. They had a basic garlic flavour, but some were sadly, still wearing their shells. The gnocchi were so disappointing. I first noticed that they were just rolled into a long, round, thin shape then cut into big chunks, then boiled. Traditionally, they are to be cut into smaller pieces, then rolled back with the thumb, marked on top with a fork, then cooked / boiled until al dente. Unfortunately, each bite of my gnocchi had such a mushy texture with virtually, no firmness. My gravy's seasoning was also too acidic and lacked a savory boldness. I rounded out my order with a meatball and a sausage link. The meatball was undercooked, under-seasoned, and was falling apart. However, my sausage had a firm, yet juicy bite while have a light spicy note at the end. The restaurant itself held a nostalgic tone and energy and the staff were all bustling. It was nice to see a dry goods / deli attached for any extras, one may need in a pinch. This place gets four stars, on account of, I believe this may have been an off night. I grew up making homemades in my grandmother's basement, and hold the term 'Traditional' in a different light than most, making my reviews sometimes a bit harsher, due to my high standards. Next time, my visit will have me sitting and dining, to immerse myself in the full experience that is Ottavio's. I really want to love this place in my heart !! Looking forward to it ! Salute!

Hidden Gem Deli Vibes! This review is just for the Deli side of this amazing, comforting spot--a place you walk into and immediately know you'll be back for a full dinner someday! The deli is open Tues-Sat, 10:30-2:30, and it's worth making time for. Grab a sandwich, pizza, or their clam chowder on Fridays (so good). Don't skip the Italian market section--I always snag Lupini beans there (iykyk). It honestly feels like stumbling upon a little slice of Italy in a hidden corner. Very nice employees who care about what you are ordering. There's outdoor seating out back to enjoy your food, and you can even peek into the restaurant's lobby to tempt yourself for a future visit. Plenty of parking, great vibes, and zero regrets. Mangia!

We have been to this restaurant many times. This time we brought a friend who has never been. All was ok. But if I wanted ok I could have gone to another restaurant. The Belvedere salad was the disappointment of the evening. Picuters speak volumes. Iceberg lettuce was fine as it is the norm to cut costs. The insult is clearly the single half slices of the one cheese and three meats. The one black olive, one green olive and one pepper made for a good laugh.

Had a great experience at Ottavios last night! Our waitress was great! She was sweet and quick! I was with two friends and we decided to share a couple meals. The pizza was amazing! Tons of cheese and toppings. The chicken parmigiana was so tasty and a huge meal! My favorite was the bruschetta! So flavorful and fresh! The only complaint i have is the cocktails were so strong, it only tasted like alcohol not any other flavor!

Hello, my wife is a vegetarian and curious on your new lunch buffet if you have pizza without meat like cheese pizza and the two pasta dishes does either one not have meat and your salad bar does it have spinach type lettuce?

The fettuccine Alfredo, baked ziiti, spaghetti marinara may satisfy the vegetarian menu. The bread and salad also fit your scenario. I am not sure if they have spinach yet they do have a mixed green salad. They may also take a special request due to…

    Do they take Reservations?

    Yes, they prefer it!

Planning a Birthday luncheon at Ottaveos in July. I was wondering if their air works well? Has anyone had a large party on a hot day in the middle of summer?

hahaha great question! I go to Ottavio's so often and their air works GREAT! You can request to the manager to set the air on high ,they are very accommodating (they do have a private party room for larger parties). Hope that helps!

We waited over 40 minutes just for our appetizer. The waitstaff seemed confused and unorganized, and we never really knew what was going on with our order. I even noticed another table sending a sandwich back, so it seemed like we weren't the only ones having a bad experience. What really upset me was that my husband ended up getting sick after eating the food. That was the last thing we expected when we came out just trying to have a nice meal together. I hate leaving bad reviews, but this was just too much. Long wait, confused service, soup spilled on my husband's phone, terrible food, and my husband getting sick afterward. First time here and definitely never again.

I don't think there's a bad seat in the house, but we always love to sit outside so that we have a really good view of the aircraft coming and going. I tried the BLT and, oh my!!! One of the best I've had, with lots of thick cut bacon, very crisp, lots of lettuce, tomato and mayo (I ordered it as-is). Half was the size of a regular sandwich so the other half went home with me! RRR ordered the triple decker club on sourdough and loved his as well. Half of his went home also. We both got the cole slaw as our side which has a little pineapple in it. I found it ok, RRR really liked it. We shared a special milkshake, pistachio, and it was heavenly, highly recommended. Service was perfect, there when needed but not overbearing. We so appreciate well-trained staff! Highly recommended.

Dear Hubby and I have been to Waypoint Cafe a few times over the years. Because of how popular…read morethey are, it's not somewhere we try to go to on a weekend. Today we had to be out of the house due to Edison maintenance in your neighborhood. We were originally headed for Ojai, but we were hungry and didn't want to wait that long to get food. I suggested Waypoint since it was a weekday and hopefully wouldn't be that crowded. We hit them just before a lunch rush came along about 30 minutes later. it's probably been a while, but their ordering procedure has changed since the last time we were there. Now you enter, go to the host stand, and order and pay there. Then they give you a number for your order and a host takes you out to a table. It's a variation on fast casual. The idea is that they will start cooking your food as soon as you pay, and the process will flow smoothly from there. They have a lot of runners bringing out the food, and offering additional condiments or other things you might need, like more water or napkins. There are several reasons that I'm downgrading the rating from a previous visit. $18 for a plain Belgian waffle? No fruit, garnish, whipped cream, just melted butter and a very small amount of syrup. It looked more substantial because we added eggs and bacon for $3 more. The latter seems like a good deal, because the eggs were well prepared. Only two slices of bacon, though. DH and I split the plate. $21 for a plain waffle, scrambled eggs, and two pieces of bacon does seem excessive. We added a side of hash browns, which were plentiful, but were also oily. I don't remember having hash browns in another restaurant which were that greasy, so that was a fail. $9 for two cups of decaf coffee? That also seemed on the high side, especially when a tiny (and I do mean tiny!) addition of oat milk for creamer was $1.50. Really? And yet, they offered mini portions of hazelnut or French vanilla creamer for free. But we didn't know that ahead of time. A large glass of lukewarm pineapple juice was $6. I had to ask for a glass of ice cubes to be able to chill the juice down to where it tasted good. By the way, the waffle was slightly overcooked for my preference, making it more crunchy than I enjoy. Overall, it was $50 for a breakfast that DH and I split, just adding the hash browns and juice to stretch the meal. Service was good. It was the kitchen that let down the team. Also, ambiance-wise, the airport has added a large row of hangars to the northwest of the restaurant, which dramatically cuts down the view of the planes taking off and landing. That's actually another fail for the appeal of dining here. It's likely going to be a while before we return. Sad to report today's experience, but that's what it turned out to be - not the lovely little secret getaway of the past.
