Went here after a long day at work and school. The waitress was sweet. It was a karaoke night and the guys singing were having great time. We had one drink and left. I would go back I love dive bars!

Chicken mulita and birria tacos

For drinks, great place to get your thirst quenched. For food, actually not too bad either. I opted for birria tacos, chicken mulita and fried pickles. The mulita was hands down the favorite with a close second on the birria tacos. The fried pickles were stringy shaped, all different sizes resulting in inconsistent bites and taste. The female bartender was a badass at service and taking care of our larger sized group.

Been coming on a regular basis after tasting Cheo's food. Drinks are good and the environment is very relaxed. Food is BOMB and looks like me and the wifey will be routine regulars with great drinks and an amazing Chef providing consistent food with quality taste in every bite.

Terrible bartenders, sketchy group of regulars. Only reason for 2-stars is the pool tables

I absolutely cannot get enough of this place…read more The basement here is really the place to be. I love the ambiance, and the history on the walls. The cocktails change so it's always fun to come back! I always try to be there when this section opens. I love the calmness of the space and it gets livelier as the night progresses and it does get packed Always one of my highly recommended spots for people who want great drinks, fantastic atmosphere and delicious food. I'm looking forward to my next stop in!

If you're going to hang your hat on the speakeasy aesthetic--dim lights, hushed tones, whispers of…read moreexclusivity--then understand this: you're entering into an unspoken pact with your patrons. We expect a certain standard, a level of care that borders on obsession. So when I catch Evan Williams--respectable, questionable, but barely twelve bucks a bottle--making an appearance behind the bar, it feels like a breach of trust. A quiet betrayal under low lighting. The illusion only works if the details hold up under scrutiny... and that pour? It broke the spell. And then comes the real offense: discovering that your Old Fashioned--the crown jewel of any respectable cocktail program--are built on bottom-shelf, dust-collecting bourbon. That's not just a letdown, it's a slap in the face. A cocktail like that deserves reverence, not shortcuts. And as if to twist the knife, there it was--a massive can of red maraschino cherries sitting shamelessly atop the bar, like some relic from a dive that's given up on finesse. It wasn't just a misstep. It was disrespect. In a place claiming the speakeasy mantle, details like these matter. They're the difference between theater and parody. The cocktails did not warrant the $15 price tag. Moreover, I would have paid more had I know the class of bourbon upfront. What ultimately redeems the space is its ambiance. The low flicker of the fireplace, the soft embrace of worn leather sofas, the curated hum of music floating just above conversation--it's seductive, even soulful. The room itself is small, intimate--the kind of place where you're bound to recognize a face, or at the very least, feel inclined to invite a stranger to share the sofa and maybe a story. And then there's the setting--tucked beneath a historic relic, a basement bar built into the bones of old Americana. The building dates back to the early 1900s, echoing with a past that deserves to be honored, not phoned in. That's exactly why I expected more from the cocktails. A place with this much atmosphere shouldn't fall flat when it comes to what's in the glass. It's a mismatch--a beautiful stage, but a script that doesn't quite rise to meet it.

Their parking is interesting but they have multiple entrances so you can get in from the shop or the main door, etc. They only have one sour beer, which I did not like so I did not end up getting beer. However, their food was good. We had multiple salads. The pesto chicken was good, we also had the barbecue chicken, bacon salad, but without the bacon. It came with a bacon and I asked Alex and they ended up making a new one without the bacon, which was really good. I have to say this is my favorite one. We also have the Carne Asada pizza, veggie pizza, tri-tip pizza, soft pretzel. Food was good, good atmosphere, good service despite being really busy. I highly recommend this place and will definitely return.

My friend had an open tab and realized once we got to the parking lot that he had forgotten to close it. He immediately went back inside. It was only around 11:05 PM, about five minutes after closing, and there were still other customers inside the establishment. When he asked to close out his tab, he was told he would be charged an additional fee because the tab had been left open and they closed at 11:00 PM. I understand having a policy for tabs that are actually abandoned, especially if someone leaves for the night and staff have to close everything out after everyone is gone. But that was not the situation here. He had not left the premises, came back in immediately, and there were still customers inside. Charging someone an extra fee under those circumstances felt unnecessary and unfair, especially over a matter of five minutes. My whole group has been repeat customers and have always left satisfied, so it was disappointing to be treated this way over something that could have been handled very easily. Unfortunately, this experience definitely changed our impression of a place we previously enjoyed coming to. Especially considering we come here to celebrate birthdays many times a year!

I love slipping into Oak & Iron for a quick drink, and one of the best parts is that you can bring over tacos from Bad Ass Tacos--or really whatever you're eating--and enjoy them with your drink. They don't mind at all. On certain nights, they also serve some seriously high-end BBQ that's definitely worth checking out. The vibe is calm, cool and just a little speakeasy-ish. It's the kind of place where you can actually relax and have a conversation without screaming across the table. They also have a really fun trivia night, and the staff has always been attentive, friendly and completely chill. Bring a friend. Bring a group. Have some food and a couple of drinks. Just please don't tell too many other people about it. Because if I show up and can't get a seat, I'm sitting with you.

Fire Brewery…read more.. Stopped into Topo while in town for work... What a cool place. Great outdoor seating area, friendly staff, and excellent brews. In this case, he went for a sampler when we were dining at Shooby's. The four options he chose were on the light side, with a hint of fruity flavors. There was only one that I really cared for - which made me long for the good old days of pizza and beer. One was too bitter for me, and the other two didn't really make much of an impression. DH did better - he enjoyed 3 of the 4. He said that none of them was a huge standout, but he appreciated that they had such a variety of choices available. Apparently, there's not much in the way of inexpensive drinking these days. The four samplers came up to a whopping $16, before tax and tip. Whew! I think the concept of having Shooby's (burgers & chicken), Rori's (artisanal ice cream), and Topa Topa Brewing Company all under one roof in Old Town Camarillo is quite brilliant. There are lots of tables available for dining and drinking. I suspect that we'll be returning to this location for casual dining and imbibing.
