As a transplant from Santa Barbara CA, I had yet to test the BAR scene in the Oxnard area. My barber "DeRay" recommended SeaRounders for It's local "CHEERS" feel & appeal & they did not Disappoint. The Staff was incredible w the feel of college friends, not bar employees. From the doorman to bartender, they made us feel right at home. The pool tables were a plus. I came here one time to pass the time as I waited for my girlfriend to get off work. It definitely is a dive bar they were having some issues that day with the Stella but luckily they had a fireball machine so I made it work. They've also got a shit ton of pool tables for a dive bar so I could see how this could be fun on a Friday night. This place is not getting a 4 star review for being a bar. It's getting a 4 star review for being a dive bar. This is a great little dive bar if you're looking to get away from the young party crowd. I went in on a Wednesday night and it was packed with random small groups playing pool, softball teams finishing off their night, and solo people just out to have a drink. The bartender was very friendly and had a good pour. The jukebox played music all night. I would recommend this place to anyone going out looking to have some fun and drinks without paying the high end bar price. Update: changed my review from 4 star to 1. They have a security guard now that is a real piece of work. I understand the need here for security but this guy is a real piece of work. Avoid this place on weekends please! I gotta be honest, the actual place was nothing like the pictures, any of them. It reminded me of a biker bar, and a locals only hang out. That in itself is not bad, but you have to very slow-moving waitresses so everybody seems to be waiting for a drink at the same time. The people who are actually customers are pretty friendly so I love that. They're very unpretentious so that's totally cool as well. They do pour a pretty mean drink over rocks meaning that the glass tends to be more full than empty, so thank you for that, but again the crowd is pretty much all the same, so there's not a lot of diversity in the bar which for me makes it just a little bit boring... So one of the reviews below complained that the bartenders over pour their drinks just to get you drunk so they can skim money of you. First, that's the first time I've heard anybody use "over pour" as a negative for a bartender, and second, if you get so drunk that you don't know what your doing with your money, that's on you. Yes, it's divey and the vibe can vary widely from night to night but it's not a big deal because this isn't the kind of place you plan your night around. You pop in, you like what you see, you stay. If not, you keep it moving. Final word: You're not at The Collection and you're not heading to downtown Ventura or Santa Barbara so you're here for a reason... and whatever that reason is, it's good enough for me. Where do I begin... this spot is pretty chill. Kind of a step up from a dive. If they had food it would be a hot spot for Port Hueneme and Oxnard. We initially waited for a drink up to the "please order here red sign" but our bartender never acknowledged us. She was too busy fumbling at the register for a good 5-7 minutes not turning to look at the bar to even see who needed drinks. Are you kidding? We changed our mind and rather than getting drinks we just wanted to close out. So after someone from the end of the bar called her over and we realized she wasn't really busy she just wasnt turning to help the customers, I asked if we could close out. So she took another good 10 minutes to get our card. My boyfriend swears by this place and loves coming here, this has to be the worst service we've ever received. Have you ever walked into a place where the music stopped and you could hear the record scratch and everyone turns and looks at you? That's exactly what happened when we (me and a friend) walked into this place. This is the sort of place you order a modelo and it might be the bestest, coldest, most ratchet experience ever... this is the place where you might get the hardware on your sweater (zipper) jacked... and if you look at someone wrong or too long in the eyes... believe you me, my fellow yelper, you will get stabbed, jumped, rocked-frankly that may be your last modelo on earth... north of Los Angeles. I don't ever have to go back and I wish my eyes never saw what I saw in there. Went it wanted to have a drink and play some pool, waited at bar for about 20-25 mins waiting to be served while waiting the bartender makes eye contact with me and she's aware that I needed to be assisted. What's ends up happening is she chit chats with the bouncer and skips me for some other people that had just gotten there and another person (note: I'm standing right in front of the bartender lady, not across the bar) I try calling her and she ignores me.
