Great bar. Strong drinks. Great prices. Our bartender was Savanna! She was very welcoming! We will absolutely come back to this bar. This place is packed. It is a Saturday afternoon. Thank you AXXESS card for having a buy 1 get 1 here. They have 2 pool tables, 2 dart boards, and a long long thing that stands up. Hubby says it is shuffleboard. He just confirmed it. My bad, I thought shuffleboard was on the ground. This place is fun, loud, and is full of happy, smiling men. I dig the vibe. Thank you Savanna for the warm welcome and conversation read more

Came in here yesterday for the first time. They were pretty steady. Was greeted right away. Even though she was busy, I was served right away, awesome beer that she recommended. Then I tried the whiskey sour which was amazing. Selena was very attentive and friendly. I'll be back read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. A friend said to come here for karaoke so I tried it. I'm a fairly friendly person and the bartenders were rude as hell AND overcharged me. When I politely asked for it to be corrected she supposedly made the change but today my account has the original charge. IF you venture here take cash, bring your patience, and a thick skin. I enjoy a good dive bar but this experience was total crap. Will never go here again. read more

For a neighborhood bar, this place is decent. Met up with a friend and her fiancé for a few rounds of margaritas for National Margaritas Day. She invited us to meet here at this dive bar, which is an very interesting spot that has old school video games, darts, pool tables and TVs. When you walk in, there might be a slightly awkward feeling because the local, regulars stare you down because they know you aren't normally from here and you stand out. Once the initial stare down is done they mind there business and carry on with their conversations. Would I go back for second time, probably not. This place is truly a "locals" spot, that's meant for locals (aka people that live nearby) not for personable, outgoing people like me and my friends.... Plus the bar music they play is old, not classic. read more

Nice staff and hood crowd. Many locals so keep the drama at home. The pool tables need to be regulated other than that all good.

Place where everybody knows your name. Walk in and your favorite beer is at bar before you are! Bartenders are awesome all of the Ladies n Kyle. 2 pool tables, shuffle board and owners the best. Love this place! read more

Great place , great drinks reasonably priced and a decent crowd. NOT A LEFTIST BAR in the least. In response to the political allegations by the last reviewer .....GROWWW UP! Every bar has their trumpsters and their left wingers.... your ranting and Raving just shows how egotistical you are. BTW, sexual harassment is illegal and that's Exactly what why you got called out. Everyone is fed up with the constant sexual innuendos and comments that you impose on ALL the females in the bar. And Then you got mad because you could NOT bully the owner into firing the person you harassed. Annnddd now you resort to spewing lies because you didn't get Your way. Booo hoooo read more

This review is for Tanya (spelling?) My boyfriend, friends and i really love coming here but tonight was the first time tanya, and she was the best bartender! So nice and attentive! She made sure we were taken care of! My boyfriends baby cousin just turned 21, so she was drinking a madori sour, but when we went back for our second round, she said, "the little lady you're with is a cutie! Can I make her something special?" I told her she had just turned 21, and she made her a "scooby snack," hashtag #ohtobe21again, and she gave me the rest to shoot after making her drink. GODDAMN.. it was delicious. The kind gesture made me a happy camper, and I love how thoughtful she was. Thank you Tanya! We will be back on Monday nights to see you! Thank you for the amazing service! read more

It is the worst bar I ever been.. the bartenders are the worst.. I stopped by two different times and sat at the bar for 15 - 20 minutes and not one asked me if I needed anything.. even I asked.. the shores is a little better.. but I think the management or owner needs to get it together... read more

Decent environment, main problem is that this place smells like smoke.

Ventura is an interesting place. When I say interesting, I mean they'll have a little bar in a business park. Now I'm not saying that's not a place where a bar belongs, but it is a little surprising to find a place called Oleary's Sidebar in one of those black cube-looking, oh so modern buildings. Small, space, large bar. I can see the place getting pretty cramped on a good night. They have a pool table and a shuffleboard table where they keep their pucks neatly stowed away in a Crown Royal bag ($0.50 a game). The band that was there that night is semi-regular, and they do a good job of covering the rock classics (extra prop to the lady bassist who sings AND rocks out with her wireless pickup!). It's a shame that the bartenders in the back didn't have the better sense to make a Colaweizen (1/3-1/4 pint glass filled with cola, top with hefenweizen) by pouring the cola first, THEN the beer, which caused problems aplenty. Oh well. You can't win 'em all. Either way, a bar is a bar and you can get your drink on here just fine. read more

Prices are decent. Service is very hit or miss. Ran into a few racist inside before. Not the best atmosphere even for dive bar standards. I've lived in walking distance for 5 years and haven't stepped foot in here in 3 years. read more

This was the scene of the crime. Where the Grey Goose bit me. They pour a STRONG drink here. I take responsibility for my actions and poor decisions. I went from being buzzed to being another person in a few minutes (almost). I was apparently petting my friend's hair like a cat. (Well, she does have nice hair). When I got home (my sober husband drove) I went from the ultimate dog mama to leaving my dog and my jeans outside in the rain. (After sitting in a water filled chair outside.) What I'm saying is, be wise. And, it's good to have a responsible husband. Especially when you're an idiot. I wish they had more food other than the popcorn, but I heard that the Comfort Food truck comes here. That would be super helpful if you ever found yourself in my situation. read more

I'm all of the few regulars at this bar, I'm non white with my own views and opinions. From the moment I started coming to this bar I have always felt welcomed and respected, the regulars have always been amazing and so has the staff. The manager makes sure her girls are aware of the people coming in to the bar so they can be helped as soon as possible. Mel, Miranda, cristal and Jackie put up with a lot and they are still nice and sweet and patient. As a customer service worker I have to say that I've become a regular at this place for a reason...I'm not a big Yelp reviewer, it's most for cry babies bit this place deserves the effort and the read more

Great crowd, good pool tables, friendly staff, lots of specials and deals that keep this a poppin' place!

O'Learys is my favorite bar in town, and I'll tell you why. There's a constantly friendly atmosphere there that's unmatched anywhere else I've been. Drink prices are reasonable and during the week you get a very mixed crowd. I've been here dozens of times and never seen anybody get out of control. I've never seen this place have a bouncer on staff, and as far as I can tell it's because they really don't need one. During the week, this is where I go with friends to chat and just hang out. Electronic darts, full shuffleboard table, two pool tables, and AIR HOCKEY(!) are available for your entertainment. read more

Dive bar, heavy-handed bartenders, unpredictable crowd - you can never know if it'll be some old biker dudes, young hipsters, or completely deserted. Always bring a friend, and you'll probably have a decent time. Definitely the best place for bar games, offering shuffle board, darts, pool, occassional beer pong, bar trivia, air hockey table, karaoke, and probably more. Nice if you don't want to throw on more than jeans and flippy-floppies while imbibing and eating popcorn (their offered bar fare). Not so great for meeting your next fling or making long-lasting friendships. read more

Reading time: 1 minute I recently moved right next door to this bar. In addition, my work actually shares a parking lot with the bar as well. So I could walk to work, stop by for a drink after work and walk home after, perfect set up right? Wrong! Since I moved here from Hollywood, let's play the scene out on the screen. Fade in. Exterior. A black couple pulls into a parking spot in front of a bar. Pan to bar sign, it reads Oleary's. A couple of old men standing outside smoking. They all stare at the couple as they exit the car. Fade in. Interior. Setting: Smoky dive bar. Jukebox playing an inaudible country tune. The place is empty except for 3 old men sitting at the bar having an excited discussion about something. The couple walks in. Bar goes silent. All occupants stare, one sneers and looks down at his drink, obviously irritated by something. The other two patron's gaze follows the couple to their sits. The couple orders drinks from a friendly bartender and sip nervously, looking around and noticing looks from occupants including the ones that were smoking outside. One old man, maybe an owner given the acknowledgment from all patrons, stares at the couple incessantly. He changes his sitting direction to face the couple and stares unabashedly. the Couple chugs their drinks, pays, and leaves. Close scene. No "thank you for coming" as we leave. No "have a good day". Just glares ushering us out. I read a review above that claimed this place was racist because patrons complained about Spanish music, that is accurate. I really wanted to like this place. To have a dive bar within walking distance to my abode would have been ideal. But I feel I am not welcome here. I have lived in small towns in the Midwest and been to small-town dives where I was the only black patron in years, but this was unnerving. The fact that this yelp listing is unclaimed, shows the disinterest of the owners in their customer's experience. Go elsewhere unless you are a (white) local. read more

Pros, Cons, then summary. PROs--It's a bit of a dive bar...which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It has an older crowd vibe to it, and mostly white folk, but that isn't always bad. Nice place to pop in every now and then, as opposed to the trendy type of bars downtown. Here, you can just hang and don't need to worry about dress codes. The juke box is nice and connected to the internet, so you can play almost any song ever released. The bartenders are generally nice, and the bouncer does his job. Free popcorn! LOL, hey, food is food when your really drunk. CONs--Once in awhile you get the younger crowed, which isn't always bad, but can be knuckleheads. The shuffleboard is busted, or at least the scorekeeping part. It's been broken for a couple years now, so it looks as if they can't find parts for it or don't care. It could use a TV on the wall across from the bar too. Would I go back? Yes, it's got a nice dive aspect to it, and the pretentious college kids usually leave for trendier spots later in the night (if they go here at all) read more

Normally a place I love to go! Small little bar, good vibes and music, and super cheap drinks. Pool table, dart board, shuffle board and a juke box.. there's plenty to do! My only complaint is from when I went on a Sunday morning and ordered a Bloody Mary. Honestly it was the worst one I've ever had. But if you're just looking for a jack n coke or a vodka cran, the well drinks are good and strong. read more

Fun local bar where everyone knows your name and the bartender is pouring your favorite drink as you are walking thru the door! New owner Bill has made great improvements making this an enticing place to meet up with friends, not really "divey" anymore. We have been coming here weekly for years, have made lots of friends, and still enjoy it! read more

You would think that O' Leary's would be a big-time Irish Pub located on a main drag or bustling area, but it's actually tucked in a small business center right next to the Ventura Govt. Center. This doesn't mean one bit that because it is a small bar, it doesn't ring big-time feel, atmosphere, good company & great bartenders to take care of you right! With 2 pool tables, shuffleboard, air hockey (Yes, I did say air hokey!), 3 TV's, and a great Juke Box; this is definitely one place you should make a stop for a quick drink. Need a place to get away from it all, catch a game, and spend some time with friends? O'Leary's side bar is your "Neighborhood Comfort Zone." This bar is nestled in a corporate complex (Center Promenade) on the corner of Telephone and Promenade. It offers a clean environment and massive drink selection. The bartender staff is personable and tentative to customer needs. The laid back atmosphere is matched with plenty of entertainment options. They have an air hockey table, high tech juke box, genuine shuffle board, big screen televisions, and two pool tables. What makes this bar stand out compared to others like it in Ventura is how comfortable they make you feel. When visiting O'Leary's it feels as if you just walked into your own game room. I highly recommend stopping by O'Leary's to get away from it all, get comfortable, and meet the neighborhood. CHEERS! read more

This place was annoyingly difficult to find for us using waze the first go around. It is somewhere in or around the Kaiser health center in a spot you would not expect a bar to be. It is too bad they are so hidden as it is a really cute and fun place and would get more business I am sure, if people could spot it from the road. They had a nice selection of beer on tap and no food, but munchies you could purchase. They had something like Touch Tunes but a different system (Jukebox) that you could play and people were playing some good music. They had pool tables and the bar was nice and long. We enjoyed a couple of beers here on a lazy Saturday afternoon. We would definitely return if in the area. read more
