This is one of my favorite bars in the Ojai valley. Very divey, no pretensions, good strong drinks at reasonable prices.

Absolutely incredible experience at Joplins in Ojai--this place is a must-visit…read more The smoked pork belly rice bowl was outstanding--packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and incredibly satisfying. Every bite hit. You can tell a lot of care goes into the food here, and it shows. And the banana pudding... next level. Easily one of the best desserts I've had in a long time--rich, balanced, and impossible to stop eating. What really elevated the whole experience was the service. A true 10/10. A special shoutout to the owner, Brittany, who was amazing--so accommodating, friendly, and clearly passionate about what she's built. This is one of those places you leave already planning your next visit. Highly, highly recommend.

It honestly tasted and felt like it had been sitting out for hours. When I told the server, she took it back to the kitchen and brought it back less than 5 minutes later. The plate came back extremely hot, but it was clearly the exact same broccolini and same plate since I had added a little cheese on the side. They clearly microwaving it, but the whole situation felt disappointing, especially for a $15 side dish. It honestly ruined my experience because that was one of the dishes I was most excited to try.

The brewery is super cute and cozy, with wood/black accents and a boutique shop in the corner featuring local artists. There is plenty of places to sit inside or outside or at the bar. The bartender helped me pick a beer, and it was happy hour, so I only spent $5 on my 16oz pour :) We shared the Krupuk and pickle plate. Krupuk = airy tapioca chips, melt-in-your-mouth or crispy, with two flavorful sauces. It was a pretty large bowl so great for sharing. The pickle plate was lovely, 4 types of pickled vegetables (cucumbers, red/white onions, and bell peppers) which went great with the krupuk. Great place to pass the time!

Their selection of brews are pretty extensive, so we selected a couple of samplers. I got The Tux, a nitro milk stout, and a seasonal cider (something with Harvest in the name), while my friend got the Good Good and Light Hike. Everything tasted great, though I'd probably ordered the cider again. We also ordered food from Sama Sama, a serving of their Wagyu Beef Sando and Chicken Sando. Wait time was roughly 10 minutes and was surprisingly served with a side of prawn crackers. I kept thinking that the wagyu was incredibly easy to eat and was done before I knew. Portion-wise it's a bit on the small side, but it had great flavor. All in all, a good place to past the time.

The wrap was delicious, but the chicken was pretty dry. I couldn't finish the second half of my wrap because of that. The matcha was honestly more milk than matcha. I actually had to ask for a side of vanilla syrup to pour in, but ended up making it sweet than I'd like. Service was great! I loved the outdoor seating because the big tree in the middle also provided some shade. Overall, it's a nice place to have brunch! I'd probably look at different menu items though.

Pickled carrots and cauliflower taste like white vinegar, adding some aromatics could help. I've gotten the bodega sando. 1st was great 2nd time was lacking. The server was confused on how the eggs were prepared and kept asking me how I wanted them after telling her I'd take it as is from the menu. 2nd time I was unimpressed, released it was just a potato hamburger bun with scrambled egg and the sauce that comes on it 2nd time just tasted like salt. Egg to bun ratio was off. It was too much bun not enough egg. Their drip coffee is not my favorite. It has a strong sour berry taste. First visit service was great and we got refills on our coffee promptly. 2nd time drip coffees took longer than our food to come out and no refills were offered. Servers were standing around but we were unable to get their attention despite sitting at the bar. Atmosphere is nice. Will most likely try a few more things on the menu.

Ojai Valley Brewery - East End: Belgian Strong Golden Ale with prickly pear & hibiscus. Tart, dry, lightly sweet, and super drinkable even for non-beer drinkers.

There's both beer and wine to choose from, and you can get glasses or tasting of either! You get to choose which 4 you want in your tasting. I opted for wine and my boyfriend beer. As a dark beer fan that one was his favorite, and I enjoyed all of mine but liked the Syrah best. Good vibes and I can see how this place probably gets packed in the summertime. We will be back!

After seeing how crowded the main strip was, we wanted to get away from the crowd and have something nice and cold. We could have just done our usual at one of the tasting room's nearby but a nice cold beer was definitely needed. This place popped up on maps while trying to find something cold. It's a couple min drive from downtown or a nice walk if it wasn't that hot. Hidden on a side street, we came upon this cute little gem. Brewery itself was quite big in size. There's a small parking lot along the side as well as street parking. When we arrived it was mellow. A couple of people sitting outside. They offer a nice big patio with picnic style tables and covered umbrellas. It's also pet friendly which was perfect as we had our little pup with us. Not only beer, there's wine tasting as well. When we walked in, there was a pool table which was being utilized by one of the staff or owner. A sweet gentleman. Having a round while it was mellow. The bar area, pretty big in size with counter seating. The selections of beer and wine were nice. Also size options available. A good selection to choose from but we narrowed it down to the Mexican lager and hard lemonade. I know, completely different but it was worth the try. Both very refreshing and went down really well with the heat. Within 10 minutes or so after we sat down, it started to pick up with people coming in. Good thing we found a seat as it was getting pretty full. Not only that, there was a band setting up. Could be the reason that's what brought people in for the show. They also happened to have a food vendor on hand. Shuck Brothers, fresh oyster and seafood. Everything on the menu sounded delicious but we literally ate half an hour prior. But they had me at oyster. Half dozen of the west and east coast shucked right there for you. The gentleman working was a hoot. Very sweet and friendly and even through we just meet, it was like chit chatting with a friend. First taste, very fresh and tasty. There's also all condiments on hand to add to your oysters. It was great and would definitely order more. The band was quite nice. I'm not sure how often a band performs but they did bring a nice crowd with them this afternoon. Overall, we were glad that we found this gem. Would we be back, definitely. Pet friendly, great service, friendly vibe. What more to say.
