Zaidee's Bar & Grill in Ojai, California.
    Bill H.

You don't just arrive at Zaidee's Bar & Grill--you end up there, like everyone in Ojai eventually does. It's a local hangout, the kind of place where regulars know each other by name, newcomers are welcomed without question, and good food and cold drinks seem to pull people in from every direction. The place hums with a kind of joyful chaos: sunlight slanting through the windows, laughter rolling off the bar, and that unmistakable glow of a room where everyone's exactly where they need to be. The beer flows cold and steady, pints sweating on the counter like they've been hauled straight from a mountain stream. The Old Fashioned is a quiet masterpiece--strong, smooth, and dangerously balanced. One sip and you feel the static of the world fade into something manageable. The food walks the fine line between comfort and class--dishes you'd expect to find at an expensive restaurant, but served without a hint of stuffiness or pretense. Every plate feels handcrafted, purposeful, and alive with flavor. The Zaidee burger drips with richness, the fries hit that impossible balance of crisp and tender, and even the salads have that fresh, deliberate touch that tells you someone in the kitchen cares deeply about getting it right. The energy in the room is pure Ojai--laid-back, sunlit, and pleasantly unpredictable. You might stop in for lunch and find yourself still there long after dark, trading stories with strangers who feel like old friends. No pretense, no rush--just good people, good food, and time that seems to stretch in all the right ways. Zaidee's isn't just a restaurant--it's a state of mind. A rare place where the drinks are honest, the food hits the mark, and the world slows down just long enough to remind you what matters. Five stars, without hesitation.

Good food, loved the smaller menu (you know they specialize their stuff- too much on a menu makes me think their food is kinda all over the place and nothing can get the care it needs), but to be honest the food was nothing special. I dont have any complaints, loved the view and the ambiance with the stone fireplace theyve got. Everything is pretty reasonably portioned. My omelet was great and well made. Pretty place in Ojai, check it out!

Nice relaxing spot to eat located in the golf course grounds. Open to the public. Comfortable restrooms and plenty of seating inside and outside with gorgeous views. They have a full bar with delicious drinks and wine. Salads are huge, tacos were good too. We also tried a burger and all the toppings were cery flavorful except for the patty (it needed salt and spices) Overall a pleasant experience. Service is friendly.

    Beet & Arugula Salad

With all the hot new restaurants piling into town (ahem, Rory's), it'd be easy to discount a more humble establishment like Zaidee's, but I encourage you to run-not-walk there. Regardless of the food, the views of the mountain range overlooking the golf course are objectively stunning. But to make matters better, the food is killer in its own right. Enjoying dinner while gazing at the sunset's shifting shadows is idyllic as it gets. I got the Beet & Arugula Salad; when I order some version of that salad, I know there's a strong likelihood it will be a tired offering of the same old ingredients. To my delight, this rendition was primo. The beets, oranges, pistachios and goat cheese were individually well-prepared and collectively inspired. The ratios were on point, never making me wish I'd left more beets or goat cheese for my final bites. Moreover, they let me sub lemon vinaigrette for balsamic vinaigrette. Note: this salad is only available for dinner. Along with the stellar scenery and above average service, Zaidee's deserves to be an Ojai staple.

Such a pretty place to eat! The food was great and reasonably priced, I wouldn't get the Caesar salad again but everything else I would.

Such an amazing experience! Food was delicious and our server Betsy was so kind! Definitely will be coming back!

Comfort food, classic choice for a chilly day.

Went out for an early dinner at 4 PM. We ordered off the lunch menu. The view from the restaurant is spectacular. The food was delicious and the service was great. Look forward to returning again sometime soon. Two of our group had the grilled cheese and tomato soup and I ordered the beet salad, generous servings for a reasonable price.

Zaidee's Grill and Bar is the Soule Park Golf Course's clubhouse. Full bar, great menu, friendly staff, and great service. What more can you ask for? How about one of Ojai's best places to have a sunset cocktail? The view of the hills and golfcourse can't be beat from the patio. The light and airy interior tables offer great vista's, as well.

What a pleasant sunset dinner! We were in search of a sunset view cocktail, which surprisingly is hard to find in Ventura County, but we drove the 33 and up Camp Comfort's scenic route to avoid afternoon rush hour, and I remembered Yelpers raving about this place. We hit it perfectly, with time to order a Cape Cod and an Old Fashioned from their full bar, enjoy a warm evening on the patio overlooking the wooded golf course, and watch the sun set. My husband and I shared the large serving of tasty rockfish baja tacos and a delicious berry cobbler loaded with two scoops of vanilla ice cream. Our server was friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful, which made the beautiful idyllic setting even more memorable. We will definitely be back.

    The view was nice

I love the view as it might be obvious. We sat outside to absorb the sun radiance and feel the fresh breeze. The food was fine. Nice presentation and pleasant flavor. Service was so pleasant. All the servers were pleasant.

A lot of food in Ojai is super creative and sometimes you just want the basics done well. That is Zaidee's.

Baja tacos were a swing and a miss. They skimped on the sauce and the food was bland.

The brewery is super cute and cozy, with wood/black accents and a boutique shop in the corner featuring local artists. There is plenty of places to sit inside or outside or at the bar. The bartender helped me pick a beer, and it was happy hour, so I only spent $5 on my 16oz pour :) We shared the Krupuk and pickle plate. Krupuk = airy tapioca chips, melt-in-your-mouth or crispy, with two flavorful sauces. It was a pretty large bowl so great for sharing. The pickle plate was lovely, 4 types of pickled vegetables (cucumbers, red/white onions, and bell peppers) which went great with the krupuk. Great place to pass the time!

I got The Tux, a nitro milk stout, and a seasonal cider (something with Harvest in the name), while my friend got the Good Good and Light Hike. Everything tasted great, though I'd probably ordered the cider again. We also ordered food from Sama Sama, a serving of their Wagyu Beef Sando and Chicken Sando. Wait time was roughly 10 minutes and was surprisingly served with a side of prawn crackers. I kept thinking that the wagyu was incredibly easy to eat and was done before I knew. Portion-wise it's a bit on the small side, but it had great flavor. All in all, a good place to past the time.

We are rarely in the area, but since we had some errands to take care of that led us to be in the nearby, and we didn't know what to eat, then my wife said how about some fish and chips from a different place, then it hit me that I had this place bookmarked and saved for some time now, and now was the perfect time. We came there and parked in the public parking building that was free. We came inside and there was a party of two in front of us waiting. The waiter, seemed to be the only one, came by and said hi to everyone and his thanks for our patience and wait. He later came by and took them to their seats. They requested outside, and the took them. We waited a few more minutes, then it was our turn and he was ready to lead us to our seats, but we asked for outside as well. He asked us to give him a few minutes to clean up a table for us. After so, he sat us and gave us menus. The service is good, considering he is the only one, but he moves about pretty quickly and still giving everyone his all. The table was pretty nasty. It was sticky. But we wiped it down and proceeded onto our night. We ended up ordering the two piece fish and chips and their pub burger with no cheese as my wife is lactose intolerant. People really need to realize that smoking is smoking, it does not mean that vaping is ok. Respect others by keep that to yourself, especially in a restaurant. The food came out pretty fast, and very hot and fresh. One of the fish was perfect and crispy, the second pieces was lacking. It was soggy and not fried long enough. The fish itself was great. It had a nice texture, firmness, and lightly salted. The batter was bland and could use some salt. However, eating it with the tartar sauce was amazing. The tartar sauce is perfection. Definitely a good fish and chips combo when consuming with the tartar. The steak fries were perfect. The burger was completely lacking. I thought it should be sent back. The idea was ok, but the execution was wrong. The burger was overcooked, way too overcooked. If it was cooked correctly, it would have been a great burger. The onion rings are great though. Great flavor, great batter, good frying. Overall, the waiter made the experience good because he was on top of it. The food was ok, as there are things that would make it better. But if you have never been here, definitely come try it. Remember, the atmosphere is still a pub, not a family type restaurant, but is ok for a family to come here as well.

I liked how comfortable everything felt, and I appreciated that I could enjoy my time without feeling pressured or hurried. I noticed a lot of teenagers at this location, which made sense because the place has a fun, friendly vibe that younger people would enjoy a lot. Seeing them there made me realize how much teenagers would love spending time at The Perch, especially since it gives them a spot where they can eat good food, talk, laugh, and feel like they belong. Even though this restaurant was new to me, I didn't realize how much there was to enjoy until I walked around and settled in. I've only visited The Perch one time in my life before writing this review, but that one visit was enough for me to understand why people speak so positively about it. It's one of the most comfortable and enjoyable restaurants I've been to in a while, and I would highly recommend that teenagers go there because it gives them a place to enjoy good food, spend time with friends, and feel part of a lively environment.
