My husband and I decided to come here on a whim since we live nearby. We love live music and jazz bars! We walked in and the place was so lively. There was already a band performing and the main stage room was full. We got in the line that had formed at the bar and it definitely took awhile to order but we had heard that the bar was very short staffed that night so we weren't bothered. I appreciated that the bartenders were still taking their time with the drinks even with the back up. We stayed and enjoyed the music from the room with the bar and our drinks were delicious. We also enjoyed pleasant conversations with other patrons, some of which are regulars and I can see why they keep coming back! Super fun, light hearted, and welcoming energy. Excellent music, not overly crowded, and couches right next to the stage where you can drink a cocktail and listen to some of the best musicians out there? The experience really can't be beat. It's so nice to find a jazz club that's not too loud where everyone is comfy and the atmosphere is intimate. To give an idea of the vibes, the crowd is on the older side, so everyone is just chilling and having a nice time. The space has two areas: the bar and the main performance room (ticketed), and people generally aren't having conversation in the performance room but instead are just enjoying the music. My boyfriend and I showed up around 9:00 p.m. on a Friday to check it out. I love live jazz music. As we walked in we made our way to the bar and the bar tender asked if we'd like anything. I asked if they had a drink menu and they did. There was quite a selection and I'm sure I got asked 2 times while looking at the menu if I'd like anything. Feeling rushed I ordered the Negroni. It'd been a while since I tried Campari so they made my drink but it honestly tasted like medicine. I was regretting my selection. I let the bar tender know my dilemma and she mentioned that she'd ask the owner since it wasn't a mistake. Luckily the owner gave her the okay and I tried a lemonade or lavender spritz with Gin. It was delicious. I read that the music played until 10 pm so luckily we were able to watch from the bar area as they had a tv screen that showed the stage. The bar tenders seemed a bit pushy. Not sure if they were in a bad mood or wanted us to feel uncomfortable. Just be mindful that you may be rushed to order a drink but take your time so you don't make a mistake. The music is elevating and beautiful definitely worth visiting for live music. Don't let the bartenders mess with your vibe. read more

Go here for a great night out. The music and venue were on point. Reminded me of a New Orleans jazz club I visited once. The deep dark purples on the wall with the hanging plants had a total New Orleans vibe. Awesome drink selection with skilled bar tenders. I would recommend any drink on the list but my favorite was the Black Gold and espresso martini. The staff was very friendly and the layout comfortable with a great view from any angle. If you like to dance, this is your place. I was very pleasantly surprised by the amount of professional dancers, so cool to watch. read more

My wife googled 'jazz bar' and was elated to find a place with live performances. Adam the owner and his team were very accommodating and made you feel extremely welcome. 2 different bands played with different amazing sounds. Very pleasant atmosphere. I enjoyed the old fashions while my wife enjoyed the Pinot Grigio. Additionally, they now serve food from a snack menu with Paninis from the local business next door and charcuterie options that were satisfying. It was a fun relaxing night and I look for forward to seeing the atmosphere again during our next visit in town. You would be doing yourself a disservice to not check this place out. read more

(2733 E Main St, Ventura, CA 93003... just steps away from the Community Memorial Hospital ; ) I had forgotten that one needn't go to major metros to hear some of the best Jazz & Blues musicians in the world. The Grape is the place where the Best Performers come to unwind from the Metro grind. Accordingly, the musicians are present and approachable. The Grape's staff is friendly and accommodating. We were in town for the weekend and found this gem! If you like live music and a great bar this is the place we had the opportunity to see Azar Lawrence , and his group did not disappoint. I recommend reserving your seats ahead of time to get a great vantage point stay away from table 8 if you don't want the air conditioning blowing right on top of you. Bringing your own food in is allowed the staff was great and parking was very easy. Support the independent business the owner was on site and very welcoming. My husband Don and I went to the Grape last night for a concert, the Tony Maddox Band, which was fantastic. The venue was comfortable and intimate and the service was fine. We ordered a charcuterie which was below average, 2 beers and 1 Irish coffee. The beers were good; however, the Irish coffee wasn't good. read more

We , and another couple, went Saturday afternoon to celebrate a birthday with some blues courtesy of the Dennis Jones Band. We started in the main room but opted for the bar, where we could watch the band on screen, to chat and catch up. Ordered a round by friendly bartender Josh who spotted my Corralitos Brewing Company t-shirt , my daughter and son-in-law are the owners, and he recommended a tasty Topa Topa IPA and house wines for the others. Our friends had brought us a grilled chicken sandwich from Meridian, you can bring your own food, and we all spent a very nice couple of hours enjoying the music and company. All the bartenders were very friendly, taking some photos and getting the folks to sing along with Happy Birthday during a set break. Looking forward to my next visit. read more
