Under new management and EXCELLENT!!! I was invited to a ladies dinner here. Everything was so great! The atmosphere is very modern but comfortable. Supposedly the place has been completely remodeled. It felt very clean. The staff was attentive and friendly but not overbearing. The food was amazing!! We tried the spring rolls, sushi, dumplings, yellow curry chicken, summer palace, chicken pad thai and a shrimp dish I think with oyster sauce. The owner came out and thanked us and was very nice. This place was really good. Then they shut down for several weeks to remodel. Well they also remodeled the menu and Americanized it. What used to have flavor and spice, is now boring and bland. I asked for Hot spiciness and there was no heat at all. My peanut sauce had no peanuts in it? Mussaman curry is off the menu? I visited Thai Spice a few times already. I have tried several dishes but my first choice is the Pad Thai. I also like anything that has curry on it, beef, pork, chicken or shrimp. I like my curry medium to high spice. If you never ate thai food, I better warn you that the highest spice level will make you either cry or sweat a lot. It's a small place but I like the ambiance, cozy, good service and good food. For dessert I usually have, when in season, the mango with rice. Prices are reasonable and I am glad Thai Spice opened a location in the Clear Lake area. read more

Not impressed. Pad Thai and Papaya Salad I believe are two simple and staple dishes in Thai food. Here at Thai Spice, the flavors were bland and not very good. Went here for lunch during work the other day. I've always eyed this place from the Chipotle in the same strip and wondered what it was all about. Now I know... it's about decent Thai food in a nice atmosphere. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors. Some Thai places are over the top, but this place has it dialed in pretty well. The decor is nicer than you would suspect from the outside, and the service is attentive. Try the Tom Yum Goong soup, very delicious! Really pretty bad. Have been to other Thai Spice locations and enjoyed but this was maybe the worst Thai I've had. I walked in at dinner time and place was empty so that probably should have been a sign. Entree that was supposed to be spicy was super bland, and chicken had grizzle. My hot tea was a pot of water with one cheap teabag that never materialized into tea. Servers were inattentive and seemed put out by having customers (one other set of customers came in as I dined). I've been to this restaurant on three separate occasions. Each time I wait an average of 15 minutes after being seated to have a waitress assist me. This may not seem like a long period of time but it is. Typically when I go I am one of three tables to be served, each time everyone else is served while I am not. I'm not sure why this is the case but I am a frequent traveler for business so I have been to many restaurants over the years. This is a very unique occurrence I am not used to. I eat alone and leave a tip. I don't make special requests and I eat fairly quickly. I am thoroughly disappointed in this style of service but it leaves a lot to the imagination. This place is a complete let down. I asked the meeto for spice sauces and she responded with we dont have them when I corrected her that I had it the last time, I came 3 weeks earlier, my waiter brought it right away. She was beyond rude (meeto sp? Asian female ). I asked to sub noodles for the rice in the kids bento box they could not i was recommended to buy an extra side. Ordered sushi and wanted to add one thing spicy tuna topping, they are not flexible on additions even if im willing to pay, in the end there was a miscommunication to the point where I received an entirely different roll i sent it back and it was taken off the bill. Tom kah soup first came out under half full it was sent back then returned watered down. It was send back a third time and the soup was creamier but the spices more dulled than the first time. All the food in my opinion was sub par and not worth the price. The only good thing was Cody out waiter tried his best to be helpful he remembered us from the first time and was very kind, but had little knowledge on menu and billing options it seemed like he wasn't provided well training despite his willingness and good disposition for customer service. Over all we won't be returning. Deserves no stars for the price, quality of food, over all service, cleanliness (my table had food remnants from the last customers before us and had to ask to have it cleaned). I got the Penang curry chicken which was quite good but not a great value for a lunch item. I went to this location hoping they had the same buffet option as the West University site but unfortunately they didn't have it. There were surprisingly few people in the restaurant for lunch which I found a bit odd. However, having read the reviews, it sounds like this isn't the most popular lunch option. I probably won't go back in spite of the food being good -- cost-wise, just not a good place for lunch. read more

My wife and I tried to have lunch there today. We ordered, and drinking our iced tea when the wife noticed a ROACH climbing the wall behind us. We were seated in the booth closest to the kitchen. The wife hit the door before she had to vomit. I told the waitress to cancel our order, pointing to the roach. She smiled and said sorry. I've gone to this location countless times over the years and have never had an experience like I did last night. I usually encounter the same lady whether I dine in or place a to go order, however last night there happened to be a lady I've never seen before along with the lady I usually encounter with. So let's just start. First off, me and my fiancé (whom never eaten there before) was taken her time looking over the menu as we were standing there to place our to go order, the lady I usually encounter proceeded to take our order but as time went on the new lady took over. Any changes or question we had or wanted to make her response was "NO" we don't have or "NO" we can't do it. So that began to rub me in the wrong way because we are customers. So then my fiancé was asking about a side of broccoli and obviously the new lady didn't know the answer because she walked off to ask the original lady. She said the side of broccoli would be $1 extra which was fine. My fiancé specified that she didn't want the broccoli tossed in the sauce and the lady walks off again and then the original lady comes back to tell us "well it will be $2". Even though I didn't understand the difference and explained to them the price wasn't an issue just don't toss the broccoli. So as we are sitting at a table waiting for the to go order, we decide we want to eat there. So as the new lady brought over our order as she said not a single word, we began to un bag the order to eat there-might I add that I have the right to do! As the new lady notices we are eating there she rudely walks over and says "oh your eating here", in the most disgusted tone and digusted look then walks off. Then for some odd reason she walks back to our table, rudely stares down at the food and walk off again. The entire time we ate there, neither one of the ladies even asked if we needed anything. I am beyond disgusted with the actions and behavior that occurred last time at this establishment. While the food was $40 and beyond mediocre. The new smaller framed lady with the glasses needs to pick a job at a warehouse where she doesn't have to interact with customers because that prejudice attitude and behavior was despicable and for that I will never step foot back into this restaurant. read more

Went to this place while on a work trip to Johnson Space Center when I was in the mood for some Thai food for dinner. With the exception of the NASA douche-bag that kept talking shop and uttering every f'ing marketing buzzword he knew across the restaurant for all to hear, this was a great place to dine.
