Spicy Chicken Ramen
Tyler N.

I love myself a good late night meal of JINYA ramen with my family, though there are some issues that I've find myself having whenever I've eaten here the past two times. First, I find their seasonal specials to always be an afterthought, which makes sense given that these are new limited time items, but it makes for a sometimes disappointing experience. For example, while the Matcha they currently have is fairly good (though I feel as though its like 90% milk, 10% matcha), their Hokuriku Cabba-Chick Ramen I had ordered a while back was just filled with a buttload of cabbage with only around three pieces of small chicken. Next, I just feel as though the ramen begins to feel underwhelming after eating a few bites. Though I love their Tonkotsu Black and Spicy Creamy Shrimp Tempura, their Spicy Chicken Ramen was pretty one monotonous flavor throughout. Yes, it has pretty good flavor, but I feel as though the ingredients just don't seem to compliment each other to bring any of them out other than the egg. Service is good, though wait times during weekends are usually just too long, and the ambiance is nice and matches the vibe of the restaurant. Don't get me wrong, I still really enjoy this place and will keep coming back, I just feel as though I can't enjoy myself as much as I would want to.

Sandra did a great job taking care of us. I got the spicy ramen and she did a great job at explaining the spice levels which I'm glad she did because I was about to get a spice level 5 and she was like spicy level 1 or 2 is a good start which ended up being perfectly spicy.

Fantastic Vegan Opal Ramen w/ extra shiitake mushrooms !!!
Michael C.

I was in this area and came in yesterday night ordering the Vegan Opal Ramen with a side of extra shiitake mushrooms. It was a unique, exotic, very delicious and very aromatic meal all in one. The broth was oily, tangy, earthy and bitter in a very balanced, tasty manner. The noodles were thick, tasty and fresh. The shiitake mushrooms, cilantro, tofu and sourish vibes were all prominent ingredients you could really taste in it. The "vegan meat" piece was crunchy, kinda cool and was like a more tart jicama or something. The service was very friendly, welcoming and efficient as usual. Js, if u get dessert here, their chocolate mochi ice cream is very good and the matcha one is too.

Shrimp Ramen with Wontons.

Ordered a shrimp ramen and added a side of wontons. Love their flavorful broth. Noodles and wontons have a perfect texture.

I was feeling like trying a new Ramen place today, so my husband and I headed out to Webster to JINYA Ramen Bar. The place is beautiful, and so cozy. Staff is super nice and service is quick. We had the pork gyoza for appetizer, pan fried to perfection super juicy and tasty I ordered the JINYA tonkotzu black Ramen, it was amazing! so rich, the intense flavor of the charred pork comes through, the pork was very tender just melts in your mouth, great noodles, and fresh green onions, this was definitely my favorite. My husband had the Spicy Chicken ramen, this was so good, the flavor of the broth is like roasted chicken and fresh herbs, chicken is tender, great choice if you don't eat pork. We will come back for more.

Love the ambiance of this place. From the greeting to the end of the meal, they make you feel at home.

Pork Gyoza - Spicy Tuna Mini Tacos - Salmon Poke Mini Tacos - Yum!!!
Jamie G.

Awesome vibe and even better food. Had both the spicy tuna and salmon poke mini tacos - Amazing! Raw with unique tasty shell. Pork Gyoza (dumplings/potstickers) were the best I've had. Excellent service. Draft Hopadillo IPA was fresh and delicious.

Came here with my boyfriend a couple of weeks ago, we were put at the bar. I forgot to take pictures of the food but he ordered the Birria ramen and I got the Tonkatsu Black. Both were great! I ordered the E Tomo E Tomo E Tomorrow drink and it was absolutely amazing (pictured). We finished it off with a Matcha Tiramisu, which was also great. Service was good, and the interior and ambiance of the place are nice. :)

Takoyaki
Stanley S.

Excellent experience at Jinya near NASA. I ordered the spicy pork Tonkatsu, fried japanese chicken, and the takoyaki. The ramen broth was rich and savory and the char sieu was very tender and not too fatty. The chicken Karaage was especially good - very crispy, flavorful and including the skin which almost made it taste like chicharron. The takoyaki was excellent as well. Service was prompt and friendly as well.

lowkey a roach on the walls but the spot was good, good servers and good food 4 stars

Lychee mojito

Flavor flavor flavor!!! I tried this place after leaving the space center. Was in the mood for Pho and it was nearby. My brother ordered the spicy chicken pho and loved every bite. I love that you can get a noodle refill for your remaining broth. I ordered a vegan bao bun taco small plate. It was okay. Tasted as expected. But my main dish was a vegan rice bowl. It was so good!!!! Very flavorful and the perfect amount of food. I ordered the small bowl which left me satisfied and not stuffed. But after tasting it I wish I had gotten a large to have more for later. Drink wise I ordered a lychee mojito that was pretty refreshing. It had a bit more sprite than I cared for but it was still good. My brother and I both got margaritas. His peach margarita was very tasty and was festive. It came with a "light show" lol. I ordered the mango pineapple margarita....so good. Perfect. Lastly I wanted to to try the salmon poke tacos. The salmon isn't cooked just fyi. They were tasty. Kind of give ceviche vibes. The service was great here. We were greeted and seated right away. Our server Arturo was patient and explained a lot of dishes to us and checked for any food allergies. Overall we enjoyed this place and I will be back again when I visit Houston

Shrimp fried rice?

They do not have shrimp fried rice but they have a really good shrimp wonton ramen.

Do they have gluten free options for noodles?

No, although they did make rice noodles for someone in a large party I had there once -- but we had to let them know in advance

How is the iced green made? With a tea bag or powdered green tea? I love it and want to make some at home

Is it possible to substitute veggie broth in any of the ramen bowls? I know they have a vegetarian and a vegan bowl, but I was really hoping to try more of their menu

i think their broths are separate from the noodles and other ingredients so I'm sure you can customize your order

Flying V Harvest was fantastic. I drank that broth like I just came out of the Sahara. So good. The Impossible meat fusion is a funny add but a good protein bump. It was a few days ago but I think I'm still full from that ramen bowl. The vibe is modern high ceiling bumping music; my in-laws found it to be too loud. I think they are giving you an excuse to lean in and get a little closer to your companion. The vibe is chic yet also casual so bring whoever you want but this would work for date night. The font on the menus is squint inducing so do your research ahead of time or prepare to spend more time perusing the menu than usual, especially with the dim lighting. They offer thin or thick noodles and can mix some broth options to adjust spice level. Drinks- the smoked in front of your face whiskey is a treat and a show. Solid spot. No regrets. Salivating at the thought of the next visit.

We decided we wanted ramen on a recent cold Houston night and went to one of our consistent places,…read moreJINYA. JINYA is located in the heart of midtown in a popular restaurant strip. Their ramen is flavorful and solid and their service is consistent. Parking: parking is free in the garage around the corner from JINYA. We went during the week and the garage was not packed. There's also paid street parking around the restaurant that you can find but look for signs to know when you have to pay and when you don't. Service: service here is very good. They have an army of waitresses and waiters who check on tables and we never had to ask for refills or never had to flag down someone. Our food came out in a timely manner. The one thing I will say about service is the appetizers we ordered came out right before our ramen so we had all of our food at one time which was a lot. I wish they would've spaced out the food timing a little more. Ambiance: JINYA has a modern interior and open concept. They have tables, booths, and 2 big community tables in the center of the restaurant. The restaurant playlist is hip and modern. The inside of the restaurant is dimly lit so if you have bad eyesight, get ready to use your flashlight to read the menu. Food: we ordered two ramens and the gyoza and edamame. Gyoza: these were fried well and had a gyoza sauce that came on the table. The wrapper was thin and they were not too oily. We would order this again. Edamame: this was typical edamame. Nothing too special. Would not get this again when we come back. Creamy Classic Tori-Paitian: this is a chicken ramen with wavy noodles that came with fried enoki mushrooms, chicken chasu, butter, spinach and a corn rib. This ramen was rich in flavor and had so many fun, delicious toppings. The corn run was grilled nicely and I wish I had more of them in my bowl. I'm a sucker for enoki mushrooms and this did not disappoint. I took the enoki mushrooms out of the ramen immediately so they didn't get soggy fast and that was the move if you want the mushrooms to stay crunchy. The chicken broth was rich and light which was a great combo. I finished this bowl to the last drop. JINYA Chicken Ramen: my girlfriend got the chicken ramen with a side of bamboo. Warning on the bamboo: the bamboo comes dressed in sesame oil and sole hot oil so they are a little spicy. The chicken ramen broth was once again rich with flavor and light. The chicken chase was good and this ramen comes with thin noodles instead of wavy noodles. Overall JINYA hits the spot when craving ramen or some hot soup on a cold day. The chicken broth is legit and I will be closing back to try the pork broth soon. My only qualm with JINYA is the price at over $17 per bowl of ramen. There are cheaper ramen places but JINYA flavor makes up for the priciness.

However, since crawfish season is one of my favorite times of the year, I had to come back to try their limited edition ramen. Just like my first visit, the staff were extremely friendly, the food came out incredibly quickly, and the overall experience felt comforting and welcoming. I ordered the seasonal bowl, The Crawmen, which came with crawfish tonkotsu broth, andouille sausage, bayou butter, corn, and peppers. While the bowl was clearly inspired by a crawfish boil, I felt like it could have leaned even further into those flavors with more crawfish and a stronger boil seasoning overall. The ramen was definitely delicious, but the broth did not quite have enough crawfish boil flavor to fully separate it from their standard tonkotsu ramen. At times, it mostly tasted like the original broth with andouille sausage added in. Even so, it was still an enjoyable bowl of ramen, though I would probably stick to one of their regular menu options over this seasonal special. My mom and I also shared the Karaage, which arrived very quickly while still being piping hot, crispy, and juicy inside. On the other hand, I would personally skip the Sakura Sweet Tea and Strawberry Yuzu Lemonade in the future since they mostly tasted like their regular counterparts without adding anything particularly unique. Overall, I still really enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and reliable quality of this place, especially the ramen and karaage. While the seasonal bowl did not fully live up to its concept for me, the experience itself was still enjoyable enough that I would gladly return again.

We arrived around 5:40pm on a Friday night and there was plenty of seating. However, by the time we finished around 6:30pm the restaurant was bustling. I was seriously tempted to order another plate since it only came with 6-7 pieces. Next, all the ramens came out. I got the shoyu truffle which I enjoyed a lot. I liked that you can taste the truffle flavor without it being overpowering. Also liked that the broth itself wasn't as salty as some ramen places. Noodles were al dente and all the toppings were tasty! Loved that the char sui actually had a good amount of lean meat versus it being mostly fat. The char grilled bamboo shoots were a nice touch as well. I tried my son's tonkotsu shoyu and enjoyed it too. I think my least favorite was my husband's tonkotsu gachi ramen, but he enjoyed it. They deserve 4.5 stars because come on it's 24/7 ramen. Parking is cool but limited. First impression walking in was that it has this really unique and dope vibe. I love the set up and it was giving spacious. There were cassette tapes aligned on the wall in the booth we sat in, which I thought was very creative. There was Anime characters above the doors when you first walk in, with Anime playing on the TVs at the bar. Oh yeah, THERES A FULL BAR if you ready to get your drink on. Now, off rip the host was annoying. She was kinda rushy and caught an attitude when we asked for a booth. We can't even describe the vibe she gave off fr. It was just BLEH. Our table was clean which is very important to us and our waitress Yasmin was kind and patient with our questions, and dietary substitutions. We ordered the Super Saiyan Nachos as an appetizer for $16. Maaann, these were so delicious!!!!! We actually substituted the pork for shiitake mushrooms and when I tell y'all we were surprised at the portion We both looked at each other like "YAAASSSSSS" Next came our Ramen orders which didn't take long at all. Not that we were counting because we were INDULGED in those nachos LOL Babii rated her Oxtail Ramen a '7/10' for $25. She would've preferred to get shiitake mushrooms because she particularly didn't like the fact that the Oxtails were shredded and not on the bone (which is what we both expected when reading it). She also would've liked if they gave her a spice option since she likes spicy ramen. Unfortunately, we had to purchase a nasty 'Kappa' sauce which was not worth the $1.50. To her the portion size was A1, however we paid for the meat so it wasn't worth the $25. Now, the Vegetable Garden to me was a '8.5/10' it was good, had amazing portion size and they were not lacking in the texture department. I mean, the spinach noodles were delish, vegetable cooked very Al dente. I cannot complain on that part. To me it was missing a bit of flavor, maybe salt would've done the trick. Overall though, it did have the flavor of the mushrooms which wasn't bad. Most importantly though, I felt light after consuming my meal. Therefore, I have to give it all a high rating. GO TRY THIS PLACE OUT, ITS WORTH THE TRY
