Came to try Pho Barr for the first time today. We ordered the Bò Lúc Lắc on the hot stone plate and the Bún Bò Huế. The Bún Bò Huế lacked the traditional rich flavor I'm used to, but it tasted clean and wasn't oily. It also didn't include the traditional pork blood, but mixing in shrimp paste, lime, fish sauce, and chili helped bring it closer to the authentic flavor. The food stayed hot in the metal bowl which was nice. The Bò Lúc Lắc arrived hot and sizzling, just as advertised. The beef was flavorful and cooked well. One thing to note is that it came with white rice rather than the fried rice shown on the menu description. The food was good, and I'd probably come back, but I'd try a different location because the service at this one was disappointing and ruined the experience. Andrew was very helpful, but the other two employees spent most of the time on their phones with their backs turned toward the dining room, making it difficult to get their attention. We had to get up ourselves to ask for a water refill. While in the middle of eating, one of the girls brought our check and said, "Whenever you're ready, no rush." It felt like we were being rushed out while I was still actively eating and it wasn't busy. What was especially disappointing was that she never asked how our food was or whether we wanted to order anything else before closing out our tab. Amazing restaurant in an otherwise unassuming strip mall! The Pho Bo broth had a great, hearty flavor that made it a very enjoyable dish. The Thai Milk Tea is also very tasty because it's not overly sweet. Although she was sometimes hard to get the attention of, our server was very kind and quick to follow through with requests. Hubbs and I have been coming here for years since before we had baby. We came today with our infant baby and were told to have a seat anywhere so naturally we choose to sit in the very back away from people because we had the baby in the car seat. We get settled just for the same person that told us to "have a seat anywhere" tell us "oh it's Just 3 people? My manager said to move you, this is for party of 5 people or more" It was so annoying and awkward because we literally just scooted over to the next set of tables- but decided to leave instead. We were by Clear Lake Methodist starving and looking for something close. It was less than 10 mins away. Pho Barr is tucked inside a retail shopping strip. I almost want to say it took over a Filipino restaurant that used to be here. It was awhile back, I've moved so I'm not 100 % sure. When you walk in it's very dark and gloomy with the blinds closed to keep out the heat. I know you can't beat this Texas heat, but I felt it was too dark inside. We ordered 2 wonton soups, shrimp spring rolls, and 2 pork banh mi sandwiches. My husband and I were disappointed with the quality and taste of the food. The banh mis were sloppy and too much butter, the bread completely soggy from it. The grilled pork was too sweet and saucy not what we were used to. It didn't taste like it was authentic charbroiled grilled pork. I didn't taste any lemongrass either. The spring rolls were ok nothing great about them. Lastly, the wonton noodle soup was just ok too. We were hoping it was good since they're opening one close to our office in Deer Park. I have to say the first time was better than the 2nd, maybe because they were extremely busy the second time around. Considering this isn't a boba tea spot, it taste just as good. The peach black tea had a lot of tea flavor in it. The watermelon juice tasted like how I would've made it, fresh with a hint of water & sugar. Both drinks were refreshing. Overall, I'm quite impressed. I will say that this location can compete with other Pho spots in Chinatown. I am happy that there is a good Vietnamese restaurant in Webster especially since I'm in the area more often now. Found this place via Yelp by looking for Vietnamese options around the Clear Lake/Webster area and it did not disappoint! Usually the Viet options are limited in this area, so glad we got the chance to try this newer place. It's a little hidden inside a recessed shopping center right off busy Nasa Rd 1. Came in around 1:00 on a Tuesday for weekday lunch and there were only 2 tables open, good sized crowd! I LOVE the decor throughout the interior with all of the pho puns (I'm a sucker for cheesy dad jokes like all of these). Menu was simple and straightforward with plenty of options for appetizers, banh mi, rice plates, vermicelli bowls, pho, and a few other specialty entrees. We got the ultimate fries, which came with a choice of meat. We went for the grilled pork (thit nuong), which was an excellent choice. The fries were crispy and the pork was sweet and flavorful. These were topped with onions, cilantro, spicy mayo, and sriracha, which all made for a bombin' combination. The pho only comes in one size (large) and because the two of us got the hearty portion of fries, we were hoping to split a bowl of beef pho (pho bo). The staff was happy to accommodate! They gave us each a smaller bowl of pho, which was simply the large pho split half ways, and each portion came with an individual plate of bean sprouts, mint, basil, jalapeño, and lime. I love this concept! Each person gets their own plentiful plate of toppings and doesn't have to fight for the one shared plate at the middle of the table. Pho tasted great -- the broth was rich with bone marrow flavor and meat-to-noodle ratio was perfect. The pho bo came with a combination of beef meats: meatball, brisket, and flank steak. We were too full for any of the dessert or drink options but I wish I could've tried their boba. This gives me a reason to come back, as well as trying out their banh mi and vermicelli bowls.
