Pad Thai and pad kee mao (drunken noodles)
Loren P.

My husband and I have been to Thai Siam a handful of times since moving to the foothills, but I have never seen a review about the lunch combos this restaurant offers, so this review will be mainly for the lunch combo I had this afternoon while waiting for my tire rotation service. The interior of Thai Siam is dark and cozy, with peaceful music playing in the background. Service is attentive and fast. The food here is solid, especially for the only Thai place in the area. I ordered the red curry lunch combo. For $15 it comes with a small salad, choice of egg rolls, fried wontons, or potstickers. I've ordered another lunch combo in the past and got the potstickers (did not take any photos, alas), and what I received was definitely not potstickers. They are dumplings with a gyoza-type dipping sauce, so be forewarned if you do choose the "potstickers" as your side. All lunch combos that are from the entrees section come with a side of white rice. The rice was fluffy and cooked perfectly. I chose medium spicy for my curry. When I received my food, were fresh chilies in the curry itself, but I also found a dollop of chilies sitting on top of the food (see photo). I was amused and scooped it out of my bowl. This place does NOT fall short (like some other Thai places I've been to) when it comes to their spice, so make sure you have a good spice tolerance if you order anything spicy. If I had mixed in the extra chilies the dish would have been too spicy for me for sure. I am mentioning the chilies on the side as usually they come pre-mixed into the dishes. Perhaps it's different for their curries. Either way, just something to note. I have had their red curry in the past and really enjoy the flavor and creaminess of the dish, and it comes packed with various veggies such as eggplant, bamboo shoots, and beans. I highly recommend getting this dish. I'm sharing a few other photos from the past showing some of the other dishes we've had in the past, as well as the fresh roll appetizer (which is on the pricier end). We've also tried their noodle soups and enjoyed them (however, not their strongest dishes). Thai Siam is also conveniently located in a clean shopping area by Safeway, Lowe's, and America's Tire. If you are in the area and craving Thai food, I would definitely recommend coming here! Almost all of the food is reasonably priced, especially for the area, and it's a quiet place to enjoy a solid meal. And certainly don't sleep on the lunch combo prices! We will continue to support this local business whole-heartedly.

This is an unassuming little Thai restaurant right next to Jamba. It's one of those hole in the walls that will knock your socks off! We ordered the chili & basil chicken and spicy fried rice. We asked for medium spice and both dishes were perfectly balanced with the flavors and just the right amount of heat. The spicy fried rice had such a depth to it, very impressed. We have lived in the Sacramento region for almost a decade and have yet to find a Thai restaurant as good as what we had in the Bay Area, till we came here. It is authentic tasting and not "watered down". We live along the 99 and will be making the 40 min drive to this place monthly-it's that good. The owners would just LOVE for u to give them a chance, they are very sweet. Don't sleep on this place bc it's unfamiliar or unassuming! It's worth a try.

Super accommodating for a to go order. i just wanted a lunch plate size order. Nicely cooked thai pork and eggplant. Nice flavor. Brown rice was fresh and nicely textured. I got chopsticks too. Restaurant dine in seating in store front near Round Table. Nice large menu.

Bangkok chicken, tempura broccoli, shrimp, sweet potato ate several pieces before picture lol

The Bangkok chicken is fried to ultra crispy perfection and the flavor? Mwah!! Husband had the garlic lovers dish with beef, he loved it but too spicy for me (he ordered "Thai Hot!). Will definitely be back for this dish fantastic food extremely picky. This place satisfies!

We were in town for wine tasting and hadn't had Thai food in a while, so we decided to stop by. What can I say...? Same great iced Thai coffee, deliciously fresh spring rolls, and the green curry couldn't have been better. We didn't see too many veggie dishes on the menu, yet at my wife's request, the kitchen made her fresh green beans in a garlic sauce. Thats right - fresh crisp green beans with plenty of "crunch" in a velvety garlic sauce. The prices are very reasonable considering today's crazy economy and we took food home! This is a family run business and the care and attention to customers is worth giving Thai Kitchen your support. We understand that they will be moving soon (just two storefronts away from the current location) and will have more room for more clientele. Judy and Sonny are very welcoming and personable. We wish them great success in the new location and we can't wait to be back to check it out!!!

I was craving Japanese food last week and decided to finally try out Oko Sushi while waiting for my…read moretires to get rotated next door at America's Tire. My husband came along as well. I had scoured the reviews of this place and it *seemed* like the reviews had gone up. I am generally distrusting of Japanese restaurants in small towns, but I figured Oko Sushi would be worth a try. Our first visit unfortunately looks like it will be our last. We were pretty hungry and both ordered the dinner bento boxes. I got the salmon teriyaki with veggie tempura, while my husband got the chicken katsu with gyoza. The first red flag was seeing the extremely limited selections of the bento boxes. At other (better) Japanese restaurants, there are far more options to choose your sides from, such as shrimp tempura or even sashimi. Oko only had a California roll, gyoza, and veggie tempura to choose from. Fine, just small-town things I guess, but not really an excuse when you're the only Japanese restaurant in a pretty wide radius. However, what honestly annoyed us both was that neither the lunch nor the dinner bentos boxes came with miso soup, which is a standard appetizer, and our meals were still $19 each. I have never been to a Japanese restaurant that doesn't provide miso soup with their bento boxes (or any set menu items, for that matter). Anyway, on to the next part of my review. Now it pains me to write this section as the entree portions of our bento boxes were actually pretty well-executed. My husband enjoyed the breading and flavor of his katsu, and I enjoyed the tenderness and the crispy skin of my salmon teriyaki. The gyoza were pretty good as well, and I had plenty of tempura, which were nicely breaded. The California roll was fine. Nothing to write home about. The ginger was fine as well. Now the rice that came with our entree on the other hand was absolutely not it. I'm not sure how an Asian restaurant can mess up rice, but Oko did. The juxtaposition of mushy yet undercooked rice was so unappealing. We finished our rice as we hate wasting food, but it's been a long time (I'm talking years) since I've had rice this bad. Tell me how the sushi rice was perfectly fine while the rice for the entree was undercooked?? This goes to show that the restaurant doesn't use the same kind of rice for their entrees as their sushi, which if you go to a good Japanese restaurant, it should be Japanese rice for both sushi and regular rice bowls. The salad was also mid, and seemed to cater to the country folk who frequent this establishment. Upon finishing our meal, we were also asked if we wanted dessert right away. Not a thing with other authentic Japanese restaurants we've been to. Service was fine, but nothing to write home about again. The presentation overall was also not exactly refined. Everything was packed into the bento boxes, and we actually had to take our rice bowls off the bento boxes themselves to have more space to eat. The best part of our meal was enjoying the beautiful fish in the multiple salt-water tanks they had. At other Japanese restaurants, the staff usually have beautiful cuts of their sashimi being shown off through glass counters. Here, the view was blocked by yet another fish tank. I do not see myself returning to Oko Sushi. Unfortunate, but I do not wish to spend my money on subpar food. Do yourself a favor and drive to Sacramento (or even north Stockton) for far better Japanese food.

We don't have sushi often, but I had a hankering and everything was delicious. Our waitress was so personable and suggested substitutions since my husband is not crazy about a particular type of fish. It seems subtle, but I so appreciated the choice of music - background not blaring, and relaxing instead of the heavy rock/rap that you usually hear in restaurants. In all, a delightful dining experience.

I found myself there for lunch one afternoon after about blowing all my cash at the slots. I had nothing to left in my pockets, except for some lint, an old paper clip, and my well used American Express card. Defeated, I called it quits and put a fried chicken sandwich and some tots on the plastic. After a chat with a friendly cashier, my food arrived in a few short minutes. Boy was I impressed! I didn't hit any jackpots at the slots, but I did with their tots! They gave me a mountain of those crispy, golden-brown, little nuggets. Each one was perfectly cooked and they came with plenty of ranch for dipping. The chicken sandwich was just as crispy, juicy in the middle, and full of fresh produce. The whole thing was only $13.00, so I couldn't be happier. Well, my pockets were empty, but my belly was full. Pacific Grill, you made me feel like a winner.
