3/11/18 Well, I guess if this place was any better than average I would have called it a huge win... but alas, it was pretty much as you would expect of a Thai restaurant on the fringes of civilization. Well, heck, I suppose I would even say it was a tad better than what I was expecting. I mean, they did make the effort to make authentic dishes after all which does count for something, though not particularly well made, and with plenty of corners cut. So, how did I end up here? Well, me and my friend Laura just finished up a great day at Kirkwood. Decent snow, good runs, and no one had to leave in an ambulance... Win! Tired and happy, we drove and drove. For some reason Waze took us on a route through the country-side, far from Sacramento where we were planning to Yelp originally. So, we prayed to the Yelp gods on the way, and the light guided us here. In a strip mall. In an area I never knew existed. So the adventure continues! Looking at the place from the outside, at first I thought it was closed. All the windows were covered up in tan one-way film and we couldn't see inside. There was no indication of life from the outside. But the door did open... As we walked in, I knew immediately this was gonna be trippy. It was sooooo DARK. Yet, those one-way windows did let in some light which basically just made the place all black and shadows as your eyes try to adjust. Just totally weird. It's too bad as it looks like the place has pretty decent Thai decor. But anyway, let's talk the food... 1. Thai Beer (Singha) $4.00: Not the worst. I just had Indian Taj Mahal beer a few days ago, and I'd just put that in the same category as Miller lite--straight piss. This is like piss mixed with a little bit of real beer. 3/10 2. Spicy Catfish $11.95 "deep fried catfish [cooked] to golden crispy with thai house spicy sauce": Well, at least it looked good. The fish fillets themselves were quite tender and tasty. JUST the white flesh though. They were all covered in a gelatinous goo that probably at one time was fried but now was just the ghost busters orange goo. Sauce was half oil, but did have some flavor. Alas, mushy fish ain't my thing. 4/10 3. Honey Ribs - A House Special $10.95 "marinated spare ribs cooked to perfection": NOTE--they said specifically "house special" okay? So, when I bite into super tough, ultra dry, flavorless pork I knew at that point this place wouldn't be categorized any better than the Sucky category in my book, a point above Hell. Also I call attention to the word "honey" used in the name. Um... Owner, WHAT FRICKIN' HONEY!?!? I gotta warn you--don't bite too big cause you're gonna choke on these bricks. 1/10 4. Spicy & Sour Coconut Milk Soup - Tom Kha with Prawn $11.50 "spicy and sour coconut milk soup with lemon grass and mushrooms seasoned with lime juice, lemon leaves, and galanga": They used white button mushrooms. Need I say more? 4/10 5. Sticky Rice $1.75: Served in aluminum foil. Not bamboo. Again, I think that's all you need to know. 3/10 Yeah so... pretty much as you'd expect. I'm tempted to give a higher score just cause its location is so remote. Honestly, as I said, it was more authentic than what I was expecting. I have always liked this place. Have eaten here a lot over the last 5 years. Today was the worst. They changed their Thai rolls to some little rolls that look like lumpia that were not good at all and my drunken noodles were the worst. The noodles were mushy and I asked for mild and they were hot. I live 10 miles away and it was to go so I was basically stuck with it. Looks like I won't be going back! read more

I love it here! Easily my favorite restaurant in Jackson. We always order pineapple fried rice and Pad Thai. Just make sure that if you don't want your mouth to catch on fire, that you specify Mild. Medium will kill you. That is all. read more

Food and the service here are wonderful, the ambience is very nice for a small town Asian restaurant. Try the pineapple curry and the Bangkok city chicken. They are amazing. I eat here often with my mom as we both love Thai. It may be our only Thai restaurant in town but it's still one of the best I've been to and I've been to quite a few in sacramento area and in the bay area so yes they have good food. read more

We were in the mood for something different. Walked in at 4 and had no crowd - already a positive. We were seated immediately and drinks and apps were ordered and brought out. The ice water was citrus infused - another positive. We ordered the (steamed) postickers and chicken wontons. They were good - hit the spot. Next came the Tom Kha soup - we added prawns - delicious!!! Hits the hot, creamy, lime spot any day ending in y. Next, we ordered the garlic lover and added chicken. Healthy amount of chicken and the garlic did not overpower. The spicy fried rice was perfect - we added beef - which was thinly sliced and not fatty or chewy. We ended with the chilli and thai basil and added prawns. It came with huge prawns and perfectly cooked string beans. Great service and friendly staff. Same flavor profile as Coconut on T and Thai Terrace down the hill in Sac. We will definitely come back and bring family and friends. Yum! read more

My wife and I really enjoyed our Dinner. My wife had the Drunkin Noodles and I had the Chicken on Fire and Fried Rice. The Druckin Noodles and Fried Rice were the standouts. We noticed there were quite a few takeout orders while we were eating too. read more

Tried this place for the first time and wasn't really impressed. The food was greasy and tasted old and it was super expensive. I'd expect the quality to be a little bit better considering that i spent $30+ on two entrees. Portions are also not great. read more

This restaurant is located in what appears to be a "newer" section of Jackson/Martell. The ambience was nice with beautiful wood decor/walls. The food was delicious and served hot. The price was decent and I'd definitely return. Love the spicy fried rice! read more

This is probably the best Thai food you can get in Jackson as we were passing through on our way to Yosemite. The dishes were edible but not great. Probably not ordering their better dishes. Also there seems to be a lot of inconsistency in the reviews. I guess there are off days where the chef is not there. I have experience that myself at several of my favorites restaurants when there are days the food is just not what I usually expected it to be. read more

Stumbled onto this place and all I can say is I'm VERY impressed. We were on the fence at first, but a couple patrons told us it was their favorite Thai restaurant and now it's my favorite. We had the Pineapple fried rice and the bamboo shoot with chicken. They were absolutely devine! The pineapple fried rice wasn't too sweet, but still had a pineapple taste. Their food is pretty good especially their tom kha soup, deep fried rolls, and satay. My only beef with this place is the customer service, which is rather short and can be unfriendly at times depending on the day and time when you're there. read more

Good food be aware that a 15 minute wait will be a 45 at least. Had lunch there and I was given someone else's order. Four people back to back were extremely upset. Haven't been here in quite some time. Quit going because the food was just so so. Will not go again for the same reason. Had Angel Wings that were very spicy, hard skin, not crispy and dry inside. Pad Tai was so glommed together we had to use both forks to separate. The dish was so sweet, with very little chicken, 3 or so green onion tops and no other vegetables. We won't be back here. I was very surprised it wasn't as good as I anticipated. I had the Tom Yum Goong. Shrimp were big & nice but the soup itself wasn't sour at all & no hint of spiciness in it. To me, it didn't taste anywhere close to tom yum goong. But because it is the only Thai place in town, I plan on coming back to try their other dishes. Yummy food. They have a pretty big menu and most items can be made vegan. If you want an extra protein you can order your dish with tofu. I had the cashew nut vegetables with tofu. It was very flavourful. Service was quick and attentive as well. read more

I never ever leave bad reviews but I've been eating at this restaurant for years and am so upset at what has happened to the quality of their food, I won't waste a penny here again. Every time I've ordered food here in the last year, it has been inedible. The meat is gross, the flavors are all weird and we end up with stomach aches. They used to be good, but now they are clearly using such bad quality ingredients. I don't know what happened. Thai food is my favorite and the people are so nice. Very sad. read more

My friends and I came here at 2:40pm on our way back from a snowboarding trip. They close at 3pm, so they only let us order to-go; luckily, there are a lot of tables outside and the weather was still nice, so we ate outside. The food came out decently quickly and was alright. I shared the pad kee mao and the eggplant with my boyfriend. The noodles were a little thicker and skinnier than the rice noodles at most Thai places. One of our friends liked her pumpkin curry with shrimp and said the shrimp was very fresh. This place was probably a good pick over the other places around, and a nice stop on the way back from Tahoe, but I have also had better Thai food. read more

We have been going here for a few years. Don't ever mind waiting because the food is so good. For the past two times we've gone there, they have a new girl taking orders. Made sure to tell her very "mild" each time we ordered...on our entire order. Both times we got at home... and all three dishes over $40 total, we're so hot and spicy none of us could eat it. When I called back and let them know I was upset, the help told me not to raise my voice at her and that the new cook was over 60 and he doesn't speak the language very well. I wasn't raising my voice or yelling at her...I was explaining to her how upset we were. She stated I should come back and exchange the order. We live 40 minutes away. Anyway, owners are great, they need good help. And if the cook is older now, he should still be able to read the writing on an order slip to keep it mild. We had a total of about $80 worth of food we weren't able to eat. The girl there needs to find a different line of work, where she is not personally offended, when someone is trying to explain they were not satisfied with what they had ordered. She needs a little more patience to hear the customers request and not to threaten to hang up on us...while we were trying to explain what transpired, again. Pork tasted off, possibly old. Pad Thai was greasy and very few vegetables. Chicken was dry and overcooked. Dishwasher was missing today so all indoor dinning is served on styrofoam to go dishes. We were overcharged too. Avoid this place! Use to be a reputable Thai restaurant. read more
