Food and the service here are wonderful, the ambience is very nice for a small town Asian restaurant. Try the pineapple curry and the Bangkok city chicken. They are amazing. We were in the mood for something different. Walked in at 4 and had no crowd - already a positive. We were seated immediately and drinks and apps were ordered and brought out. The ice water was citrus infused - another positive. We ordered the (steamed) postickers and chicken wontons. They were good - hit the spot. Next came the Tom Kha soup - we added prawns - delicious!!! Hits the hot, creamy, lime spot any day ending in y. Next, we ordered the garlic lover and added chicken. Healthy amount of chicken and the garlic did not overpower. The spicy fried rice was perfect - we added beef - which was thinly sliced and not fatty or chewy. We ended with the chilli and thai basil and added prawns. It came with huge prawns and perfectly cooked string beans. Great service and friendly staff. This is probably the best Thai food you can get in Jackson as we were passing through on our way to Yosemite. The dishes were edible but not great. Probably not ordering their better dishes. Also there seems to be a lot of inconsistency in the reviews. I guess there are off days where the chef is not there. Stumbled onto this place and all I can say is I'm VERY impressed. We were on the fence at first, but a couple patrons told us it was their favorite Thai restaurant and now it's my favorite. I never ever leave bad reviews but I've been eating at this restaurant for years and am so upset at what has happened to the quality of their food, I won't waste a penny here again. Every time I've ordered food here in the last year, it has been inedible. The meat is gross, the flavors are all weird and we end up with stomach aches. My friends and I came here at 2:40pm on our way back from a snowboarding trip. They close at 3pm, so they only let us order to-go; luckily, there are a lot of tables outside and the weather was still nice, so we ate outside. The food came out decently quickly and was alright. I shared the pad kee mao and the eggplant with my boyfriend. The noodles were a little thicker and skinnier than the rice noodles at most Thai places. One of our friends liked her pumpkin curry with shrimp and said the shrimp was very fresh. We have been going here for a few years. Don't ever mind waiting because the food is so good. For the past two times we've gone there, they have a new girl taking orders. Made sure to tell her very "mild" each time we ordered...on our entire order. Both times we got at home... and all three dishes over $40 total, we're so hot and spicy none of us could eat it. When I called back and let them know I was upset, the help told me not to raise my voice at her and that the new cook was over 60 and he doesn't speak the language very well. I wasn't raising my voice or yelling at her...I was explaining to her how upset we were. She stated I should come back and exchange the order. We live 40 minutes away. Anyway, owners are great, they need good help. And if the cook is older now, he should still be able to read the writing on an order slip to keep it mild. We had a total of about $80 worth of food we weren't able to eat. The girl there needs to find a different line of work, where she is not personally offended, when someone is trying to explain they were not satisfied with what they had ordered. She needs a little more patience to hear the customers request and not to threaten to hang up on us...while we were trying to explain what transpired, again. Firstly, I've only been to one Thai restaurant where the chicken wasn't overcooked. I don't know what Thai restaurants do with food prep, but most have it wrong when it comes to meat. This place is no different. Therefore, I either go all veg, tofu or shrimp. Aside from that, I throughly enjoyed every dish I've tried so far. That said, I usually go for the more common/popular Thai dishes. So far, I've had the pineapple curry, drunken noodle and Pad Thai, which are my go to dishes at any Thai restaurant. I just moved from Sacramento County and have eaten at many Thai restaurants there. This place is on par, and in many instances, better than the Thai restaurants in Sacramento. I gave one less star, because they messed up my Pad Thai order once and brought it out with chicken. The chicken was as dry and chewy as I've come to expect at Thai restaurants, so I asked them to correct it. I had ordered the pork, hoping it would be better, but it was only slightly better. It was a good reminder to stick with veggie only, tofu or shrimp. They forgot to give me peanuts on my corrected order, then said they were out and brought me peanut sauce. Actually, the peanut sauce was pretty good and made the pork taste better. Overall, I recommend this place. Thai food is one of my favorites, so I'm grateful to have this place in Jackson. I'm happy that it's just as good or better than the Thai restaurants I'm used to. read more
