It's hard to find a Thai restaurant that stands out, they are all usually pretty good, just not memorable. But Thai Siam really stands out! I'd say it's probably the best Thai I've ever had, what a find in little Jackson, CA. Every dish we've had has been excellent; we go every time we're in Jackson. Veggies are cooked perfectly, and spice level is spot on. Just know if you order it hot, it will be hot! I had to dial down the level because it was a bit too spicy. Really nice staff too, and very clean. If we lived closer, we'd probably be there every week. read more

My husband and I have been to Thai Siam a handful of times since moving to the foothills, but I have never seen a review about the lunch combos this restaurant offers, so this review will be mainly for the lunch combo I had this afternoon while waiting for my tire rotation service. The interior of Thai Siam is dark and cozy, with peaceful music playing in the background. Service is attentive and fast. The food here is solid, especially for the only Thai place in the area. I ordered the red curry lunch combo. For $15 it comes with a small salad, choice of egg rolls, fried wontons, or potstickers. I've ordered another lunch combo in the past and got the potstickers (did not take any photos, alas), and what I received was definitely not potstickers. They are dumplings with a gyoza-type dipping sauce, so be forewarned if you do choose the "potstickers" as your side. All lunch combos that are from the entrees section come with a side of white rice. The rice was fluffy and cooked perfectly. I chose medium spicy for my curry. When I received my food, were fresh chilies in the curry itself, but I also found a dollop of chilies sitting on top of the food (see photo). I was amused and scooped it out of my bowl. This place does NOT fall short (like some other Thai places I've been to) when it comes to their spice, so make sure you have a good spice tolerance if you order anything spicy. If I had mixed in the extra chilies the dish would have been too spicy for me for sure. I am mentioning the chilies on the side as usually they come pre-mixed into the dishes. Perhaps it's different for their curries. Either way, just something to note. I have had their red curry in the past and really enjoy the flavor and creaminess of the dish, and it comes packed with various veggies such as eggplant, bamboo shoots, and beans. I highly recommend getting this dish. I'm sharing a few other photos from the past showing some of the other dishes we've had in the past, as well as the fresh roll appetizer (which is on the pricier end). We've also tried their noodle soups and enjoyed them (however, not their strongest dishes). Thai Siam is also conveniently located in a clean shopping area by Safeway, Lowe's, and America's Tire. If you are in the area and craving Thai food, I would definitely recommend coming here! Almost all of the food is reasonably priced, especially for the area, and it's a quiet place to enjoy a solid meal. And certainly don't sleep on the lunch combo prices! We will continue to support this local business whole-heartedly. read more

I had dinner on Wednesday at Thai Siam. We came in at 8:15 p.m. and found the waitress full of life, happy and ready to serve, as though she had just began her day. The food was even better than I remembered it. The satay was so fresh and grilled to perfection. Everything, right down to the ice tea , had been prepared with care. In a time, where it seems to me, that just about every restaurant in Amador County fails to impress, except for the bill (that usually is breathtaking), I find this restaurant stands out and even has improved upon itself and I highly recommend the food and service. Here you will find your hard earned money has been spent on excellent ingredients as well as service from a waitress who is endearing and professional. This is all I really ever expected from a good restaurant and repeatedly fail to get until tonight, only 45 minutes from closing time. This is an unassuming little Thai restaurant right next to Jamba. It's one of those hole in the walls that will knock your socks off! We ordered the chili & basil chicken and spicy fried rice. We asked for medium spice and both dishes were perfectly balanced with the flavors and just the right amount of heat. The spicy fried rice had such a depth to it, very impressed. We have lived in the Sacramento region for almost a decade and have yet to find a Thai restaurant as good as what we had in the Bay Area, till we came here. It is authentic tasting and not "watered down". We live along the 99 and will be making the 40 min drive to this place monthly-it's that good. It didn't look like much from the outside, but stepping inside we found a very tastefully designed room, much better than we expected. The food was presented on lacquered trays - a very nice touch. Stopped in Jackson on the way home, decided to take a dinner break and not have the typical fast food. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at the delicious entrees at Thai Siam. We ordered the Green Curry with seafood, Pad Thai with Chicken, spring rolls and Thai Iced teas. Food came out quickly with friendly attentive service. The curry was rich with an array of colorful vegetables, eggplant, bell peppers, green beans, along with fresh seafood: shrimp, mussels, fish, and calamari. The pad thai was great with yummy flavor, generous pieces of chicken and tofu provided texture and protein. It was a good balance of flavors and we washed it all down with their Thai Iced Tea, so refreshing and sweet. This is a lovely restaurant and my family and I look forward visiting again! read more

Lots of good things to say about Thai Siam! First of all, this restaurant is small inside, which is a plus for me. There are maybe 15 - 20 tables total. Second, the interior is warm and dark with natural wood an stone which adds cozy ambiance. Third, prices are good and the curry and pad thai are delicious options! Be aware that they close from 3-4 pm which I understand but can seem needless and odd, especially considering there are typically only a few tables occupied at a time. Also, I wouldn't recommend apps here...they are overpriced and usually not good and they will always try and get you to order one. Service is ok. Overall, this is a nice, quiet little spot to enjoy a lunch special. read more

We ate here before and liked the food. But this time tasted like a different chef cooked the food. We did not finish any of the food. We ordered: 1. Pra Ram Rong Song Lunch Special and the pork meat was too salty for us. 2. Eggplant - Pad Ma Kua Yao Lunch Special with chicken. Ask us how spicy and we opted for the least which was mild. Too spicy! Not the mild we are use to from other Thai restaurants. Could not finish the dish. 3. Yellow Curry - Kaeng Kra Ree Lunch Special with pork. Pork did not taste salty. Liked that had plenty of potatoes, carrots, and onions. Once again, too spicy compared to other Thai restaurants. When we sat down we did hear a customer eating say to the waiter "That is okay, I do not have time." Later when he approached the waiter by the table used for take out orders and where they keep the water pitchers, I heard the customer ask, "Are you the owner?" The waiter replied, "No". Customer asked "Do they not know there is suppose to be shrimp? Sure taste different." Waiter replied that he will inform the owner. read more

While the people who work here are very kind, the restaurant itself needs some help. While I usually order the same items each time I visit, I have never had the same dish twice. Not sure if it is a different cook or if the order goes in wrong. There are usually only one or two people to handle the entire restaurant; meaning two people to take orders, bus, answer phones and run orders out.
