Well I was hoping that I wouldn't have to write this. Because the food really is good. But I won't be ordering from here again and here's why: I found a SCREW in my food. We ordered from Postmates so of course first I called the restaurant to let them know what had happened so they didn't serve anymore to other people. Like I literally found it in my mouth, I could have chipped a tooth, god forbid I'd swallowed it. What happens? I'm told over the phone that Comcast had been by earlier and they were laying wire or something and that's probably what caused it. I got a very rushed apology and then was told to call postmates and get a refund. Well, we did. Next morning were told we can get a refund for the item, but nothing else because the restaurant refused to refund. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I nearly swallowed a screw and oh not only did we get awful customer service but they called me back to remind us there's another location that it may have been, I was doubly sure because I triple checked before calling so this didn't happen to someone else. So you probably shouldn't eat here because they clearly didn't care for my health and safety, which means they won't for you either. read more

A girl can only eat Mexican or steak sammiches so much! Instead of a typical dinner at the Mexican place next door or the restaurant with the awesome HH I thought we'd try some thai. Had dinner here just the other night with my man who, by the way, was pretty reluctant to go here... he even called our neighbor to ask him what he thought of it and to make sure he thought it was good!!! SHEESH... Arrived a little after 6. Service was great and we sat down right away. We both had a pint of Sapporo (so good!!). I got the chicken rad nah 1 star, he got the garlic beef dish 1 star (I'm a wuss so he ordered 1 star and then asked for hot sauce so we could share). Food was great! Beer was great! Watching my guy drown his food in soy sauce after putting WAY TOO MUCH hot sauce on it was great! This is the very best Thai food in Seattle, in my opinion. I almost always get the Pad See Yew. It's got a more rich black bean paste sauce then you find at most Thai places that use some kind of sweet soy sauce. This is a rich, sweet and a bit smoky flavor. Seriously the best. Outrageously bad name for an only so-so place. I mean people, come on, if you're going to name yourself after a binge, at least serve some super fine cocktails and offer them up with delish bar food. The cocktails are half-hearted. The bar is an afterthought. Where are the fricken chairs? You gotta go hunt for them. And FYI, sitting next to the pile of highchairs doesn't usually put most gals I know in a drinkin' mood. The appetizers are not appetizing, if they come at all. Can I get a side of spring rolls with my puddle of grease? There is one important thing that recommends this place: its proximity to my daughter's gym. Definitely Thai One On when you're in a hurry! My friend and I stopped in after grueling workout and were completely famished. Service was great - we sat down right away and the waitress brought water before we could even blink. We both already knew what we wanted - cashew chicken, fried tofu/beef panang curry and some veggie wraps. Again, we blinked and the food was out. Super fast and attentive service. The wraps were great. The panang curry was good, but the tofu was a little rubbery - I've had better tofu. However the cashew chicken was quite nice -I would definitely recommend! The portions were a lot larger than I expected and we had leftovers! Great spot for a quick bite to eat... there are tons of things to choose from. I also have to admit - the soups looked fantastic - esp. the spicy noodles soups with wontons & rice noodles. I'm actually regretting not ordering the soup! Next time right? :) p.s. Their food is really good but their portions and spice are not consistent. I got take out from here last night and almost ate the whole thing for dinner. As I mentioned in a previous review I used to be able to get 3 meals out of a take out entree. The spice consistency is just not there. My 4 start pad see ew was more like a low 3. Their Five Spice Duck Soup is worth ordering. Very yummy. The noodles are done just right and I love the flavor of the food. I just wish they were more consistent. read more

Previously was a regular at this location primarily due to the fact that it was the only Thai restaurant close to my work for some time. However, even during that time of being a regular and with staff knowing me by name, I would receive poor service. I always felt rushed and sometimes disrespected. On many occasions, I would practically be chastised for not knowing to call in my order a certain way or for requesting to add something to my order when I showed up to pick up. Without overdoing it, I will forgo providing the other details of my many other bad experiences here. Sometimes I can overlook poor service if the food is just amazing, but this is definitely not the case here. I always only ate there to satiate my craving for thai. Honestly, if you are looking for really good Thai and are in the Lake City area, then make your way down the street to 2C Thai which is new and provides good service and excellent quality dishes unlike here. read more

When we moved here in July 2005, we stumbled upon Thai One On on a lark. We figured, cute name, probably cute place. And it was ... is. The decor is uber-trendy, while the staff is uber-average. But the food? My god, the food is uber-yummy (enough with the ubers!). Fave dishes include: tom yum, pahd thai, pahd kee mao, pahd see yiu and green curry. The Thai iced teas are sickingly sweet, but cool and smooth, which goes well with the level of spice they offer. We've been back there several times, and we often order take out. The prices are reasonable, the food tastes good. 'Nuff said. read more

I've only eaten here once before, but from this limited experience it was a positve one. The inside decor is pretty and spacious. The wait staff was attentive and friendlier than I've experienced at other Thai restaurants. I was going light that day so I ordered fresh spring rolls. I felt they were on the smallish side, but were very delicious. The peanut sauce was top notch. I also had a bite of my boyfriend's dish , which was orange chicken. It tasted very fresh and was very good. I ordered jasmine tea and they didn't have a french press, instead just a single tea bag. That is fine, but I really love having a pot of tea at my table when I am enjoying a good Thai dinner. My favorite thing we had was the black sticky rice pudding topped with coconut milk. I love the unsweetened coconut milk mixed with the sweet and thick sticky rice. Overall prices were on the average side. I would definitely go back based on this experience. I'd like to taste some curry and pad thai before having a truly solid feel for the restaurant. read more

The food, service, and ambiance are all nice, but it's nothing spectacular. I think that in the lake city area, this place is probably the best place around. I would give this place a solid 3.5 stars, rounding up since there really isn't much competition nearby in terms of Thai food. The portions are pretty generous, but nothing you couldn't finish on your own. My friends regularly come here so they have become friends with the chefs and have convinced them to cook some of the local dishes that they have eaten in Thailand. I would say that definitely makes them a bit special, now if only I could order that too! read more

Ever have one of those dining experiences when you're having so much fun with the group of people you're with that you can't for certain determine how many "Yelp stars" an establishment deserves? Well, that's me at Thai One On. I imagine a three-star review would have been possible, but I had such a little party with four good friends that four stars seemed to be in order. The restaurant environment was pleasant. The lighting was appropriate for evening, the decor was very bright and colorful, and the space was 2/3 full of customers. The wait person, a young gentleman, was pretty patient with all five of us chatterboxes. After 15 minutes we finally decided on our drinks and appetizers. Unfortunately, I couldn't indulge in the app's because they contained gluten. Bummer. The others in my group, however, seemed to enjoy the calamari and coconut-battered prawns. I was about ready to order what appeared to be a gluten-free rice paper-wrapped spring roll, until the server informed me the rolls, or some of the rolls' contents, come from Vietnam, and that I shouldn't trust the contents to be gluten free. Er...thanks for the tip...but I wondered how much of their other stuff comes from Vietnam. The ladies at our table enjoyed our cocktails. I had a lychee cranberry fru-fru drink, quite sweet. The five of us shared four entrees and a large side of rice, and there proved to be plenty of food for the gang. We ordered two-star dishes with beef, duck, chicken and tofu, and all were tasty. The two-star rating tasted more like 1-1.5 stars, but the group did not seem to mind. During a lull in the laughter and conversation, we noticed the restaurant seemed to be closed, with servers waiting for us to finish. Embarrassed, we settled our bill: $91 for appetizers, drinks and food for five people. I would certainly try to "Thai One On" again in Lake City, to make sure the place is indeed worth four stars, and especially if I get another chance for a mini-party. read more

This is definitely one of my favorite Thai Restaurants. I used to work right down the street so I ate there weekly, sometimes more than once. I don't get there as often as I did back then but it's still a great spot. the ambiance is warm and comfortable. The service is good and the food is fresh and delicious. My favorite dish there is the Rard Nah. They have the best sauce of anyplace I've ever eaten this dish. They also do a great job of preparing it. Many places overcook or dry out those big, fat rice noodles. that's never happened to me here. The prices are average and if I got to Lake City more often, I'd eat there all the time. Why Seattle goes crazy over Thai is beyond me but when in Rome. I have eaten here twice with very different results. The restaurant had a very friendly atmosphere and good seating choices. The first time I went got the BBQ and thought it was decent even for $9.99. Thai rice is a weird way to serve rice though, it's like eating a tough piece of bread made of rice, out of a Ziploc bag in a steam basket. I say it's like that cause it is that to a tee. Well that was my first try and I came out thinking if I were hungry I would stop in again. Well I got hungry again and this time I wanted to mix it up. I went with the Coconut Ginger Soup and it tasted horrible. I forget whenever I eat food from the orient if on the menu it says comes with beef to expect flecks of it not a sizable contribution to the dish. So not only did I get little actual food I got a soup that tasted like scrubbing bubbles. I was told Thai food is "the bomb" so many times but I have not been convinced and evidently this is one of the big guys. read more

Thai One On, besides having an awesome name, is a hop skip and a jump from my work but even with that being the case Thai One On serves some great Thai food. I haven't varied much on my orders here but their 5 star chicken pad Thai is awesome! I call my orders in and by the time I get down the street my food is ready to go. On the few occasions it hasn't be ready they've given me a little cup of soup to enjoy while I wait. The staff is always quick and friendly which is exactly what I want for a take out order. Parking can be a little tricky here but if you go around back they have a few dedicated parking spots right next to their rear entrance. If you need a Thai fix and are in the area this should be your spot. I'm a huge fan! read more

Thai One On is in my hood and they do take-out/delivery. There's some stars right there. I've ordered take-out at least 10 times and they are always sweet and efficient on the phone. Food is always ready and piping hot when I pick it up. Delivery seems to take a while, but no biggie. The food itself is delish. My fave is the Classic Thai Fried Rice - try it, it's amazing. Spice scale is tricky; one 2-star dish will be perfect, and the next will be smoke-coming-out-of-your-face too hot. I think that's sometimes true at many Thai restaurants though, depends on who is cooking. Re: eating in/ambiance...Dim lighting, intimate, good for a date. I've also seen karaoke on a random night, I was confused by that. But it was entertaining to watch :) read more

Pretty solid thai food. Service is usually quite quick. Lots of food. Great bar area, late hours & yummy thai iced tea. Vegetarian friendly but other unique options like duck + seafood. One thing to note... They run pretty spicy. I ordered three stars and had a hard time eating my food. One of our friends ordered zero stars & we all agreed his was pretty spicy. Last night they told us they were out of Peanut Sauce. Then one of our friends arrived late and ordered Swimming Rama. Good Americanized Thai joint. It's nothing terribly special but the restaurant does well because service is fast, friendly and attentive, food is well made and well-priced, and the restaurant is comfortable and stylish. In other words, this is a solid, quality Thai restaurant. I was most impressed by the service---we were seated immediately and our waitress was always around filling our glasses, etc. I got the deep fried tofu as an appetizer and pork phad seo (sp?)---wide noodles with onions, tomatoes, broccoli and other things. The appetizer was deep fried tofu with a very easy dipping sauce you can buy in an Asian supermarket. Exactly what was advertised, nothing more and nothing less. They did give lots of tofu though! It lasted us throughout the whole meal. The phad seo was delicious. Nothing more to say. Solid Thai food. They have a five star system for indicating your level of spiciness. I got one star and asked for the spice rack, which I suggest asking for at any Thai restaurant. I also asked for more crushed peanuts (!!!) which I looove in Thai food. Our waitress was more than happy to bring those out. I also tried my friend's basil fried rice with no meat. Very good as well. Prices were good. I think it came out to be less than $25 for the two of us---an appetizer to share and two entrees. In all, very happy with this restaurant. I live in the area so I'm glad there's solid Thai only a few blocks away. read more

This was the site of my first date with mah new main, who is Thai, and therefore I figured it had to be good if he chose it. We had a late dinner here, so the place was fairly empty. We bonded over some kickin papaya salad, grilled beef, and I shamefully can't remember the rest because I was a little caught up in the moment. That being said, they served us up a great dinner. While the date was 5 stars, it could've been at least a 4-star experience had they not started to PINE SOL THE FLOORS toward the end of our meal. A return visit for appetizers yielded some wonderfully crisp and fluffy crab-stuffed won tons, some spring rolls with a slightly rubbery wrapper, and a very generous pour of whiskey (yay!). After reading other user reviews, I've got to go back and try the crispy pork over rice. This place merits my return business because it is so close to home, has a nice atmosphere and bar area, and--thanks to a successful new relationship--it now has nostalgic value. read more

Poor to Average food quality depending on what you order (to verify this just order in for lunch and check out that free soup, haha) 3. Dimly lit interior Here's my number one reason for not going back: customer service. I was a regular there only because I love Thai, and it was the only Thai place close to my work. Even though they knew me by name and knew my regular orders, they never changed their poor customer service and if anything it got worse. I'd be chastised for not ordering something like my to go Thai tea earlier with my food order, and the server would get noticeably frustrated. Anyway, there's so many examples from every time I have visited and this could go on forever! I just recommend that if you want Thai and are in the area to just walk a little further down the street to 2C Thai where food is amazing for comparable prices and significantly better service. read more

Only been here once, thanks to a gift certificate for my birthday. On the card, my friend specifically said to order Crispy Pork over Rice, which is not on the menu. He said it would make me cry from its sheer goodness. I didnt cry, but I thought it was.. YUM times 1100 Pieces of super fatty pork with some sweet glazing served over green beans with garlic sauce. Not much to look at on the outside of a busy Lake City street, you might hesitate to dine here. But don't pass by this gem of a place! I've been here twice and I've been satisfied and stuffed beyond belief. Recently went here for lunch and enjoyed their reasonably priced $7 entrees. Pad Kee Mao was delicious as was their accompanying soup. Pad Thai is just as flavorful. Servings are bountiful, too! My only gripe is that for 5 stars, I should be seeing stars, not wondering where the heat was. I don't like flames exiting my nostrils, but I am a gal who enjoys spice. So, I was disappointed by the lack of it in my dishes. Atmosphere is warm, inviting, and even a little chic. Towards the back is a lounge/bar area, which would be perfect for a large group. One of the first places I visited after moving to my new Lake City 'hood was Thai One. I had just gotten a shiny new Iphone 3G and downloaded that wonderful app known as the Urban Spoon (before I discovered the Yelp app of course!). Not knowing what I wanted to eat or where to go to get it, I locked in Lake City and left my culinary fate to the Urban Spoon oracle. It led me to Thai One and I put on my walking shoes and made my way on over. I have to say that some of the places on Lake City Way are kind of shady looking despite the constant stream of customers. I have standards people! I can't eat just anywhere! So, when I walked into Thai One, I was happy to see that it was clean, nicely decorated and full. Although the hostess never came over to greet me, I didn't let that stop me from appeasing the Urban Spoon oracle. I walked to the cashier and asked for a take out menu, ordered my food and waited. The crowd was lively and everyone seemed happy. When my food came, it was nice and hot and smelled delish. I almost changed my mind about dinning at home and grabbed a table. But I had a movie from the Blockbuster on the corner waiting for me and home I went. I ordered the phad thai because you have to go safe when trying a place for the first time and it was pretty fabulous. I tore into it and watched my movie as I drifted off into happy plate heaven. I have yet to return because I'm on a mission to try as many restaurants as possible in Seattle, but the next time I get a hankering for Thai, I will happily find myself at Thai One. read more

When someone calls to place a takeout order, if you happen to know that every street within a 5-block radius is CLOSED for a parade, and every street within a 5-block radius of that is gridlocked on account of all the other streets being closed, making it virtually impossible to get anywhere near the restaurant, the polite thing to do would be to mention that on the phone. This is one of my favorite restaurants. The wait staff is very attentive and friendly without interfering too much. The menu is tasty and has a lot of variety. My favorite dish is phad kee mao. One of the things I appreciate about this place is how they prepare their fried tofu. A lot of places don't thoroughly dry the tofu so it is soggy in the middle. That is not the case at Thai One On. I really enjoy the fried tofu appetizer as well is in my phad thai. I'm not vegetarian or anything the chicken is great here too. Reasonable prices for excellent food. read more

Oh man...someone must have turned on the spice factor in here cause they make it spicy! I LOVE it! None of that weak American level standards of spiciness cause I like it hot! I was a bit skeptical before trying this place since it was situated in the middle of Lake City (not trying to hate!). I was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful the food here was. Everything I've tried here was delicious. I've had the green curry, basil and pad khee mao. I took my family here for lunch once and they really enjoyed it too...even my dad liked it and he can be very picky. They have daily lunch specials from 11am - 3pm that includes rice and soup for around $8 which is a pretty good deal! The staff is friendly and they bring out the food pretty quick. This will be my go-to spot for some good Thai food in my neighborhood! read more

It could just be my imagination but I think this restaurant is supposed to be a bit of a parody on Thai restaurants. The food is the real thing, garlicky, spicy, or peanuty and good. The decor though is Thai with a twist. The name (Thai One On) suggests and in fact there is a full bar and interestingly the Karaoke is Thai too, with the lyrics spelled out in syllables as the video plays. We went to help my daughter celebrate the beginning of spring break. I suspect we were annoying the customers who wanted a quiet dinner, but the servers were great fun and we had a good time. This place is a great choice when in the mood for thai. Or "Thigh" as my midwest mom calls it. Price won't break the bank, though not overly cheap. You get some quality food. I have yet to eat in, but take out is great and always hot and ready when I get there. It looks very nice in there though, and it is usually pretty busy. Having moved to Lake City from Fremont (home of 7 Thai Restaurants in about 2 blocks) I was happy that there was two Thai places nearby. Thai One On has great food and interesting modern decor. The food is so good in fact that the people at another Thai restaurant I used to go to near where I used to work told me about this place and how good it was. The one major downfall of this place, and the reason why it doesn't get 5 stars is that the service is frequently slow, even when the place isn't busy. If you don't mind sitting with an empty water glass for awhile though, it's a good place to fill up on some Thai food. read more

I'm no Thai food expert but I'm pretty sure I know a good Thai food place when I see one. Thai One On is one of those places you wish you found a lot sooner (I wish I found it sooner than Siam's). The lunch special is awesome--everything is at lunch is $6.95 and comes with yummy tofu soup and rice. My favorite dish (next to the staple Beef Phad See Yew) is the Northern Thai Curry Noodles (Kao Soy) with beef. Kao Soy is so deluxe. If you want to try something different, that would be the dish to get. Overall the service was great, and the food quality and portions are definitely worth the price. If you're around the LC and you need something to eat for lunch, you won't be disappointed with this place. read more

We found this place just driving down Lake City Way. My son and I drove up from the SF Bay Area in August since he was moving up to Seattle. Nice decor and decent service...yes, very fast as others have posted so probably a good place to go for lunch. The food is pretty good, nothing spectacular and actually went again when we returned in Sept. to help with my son's move. I ordered the Pad Thai which I always do at Thai restaurants and found it tasty. My husband said too sweet for him, but he's more into Chinese food which is more salty than sweet. Also he asked for 4 stars in hotness. He didn't find it to be very hot at all. I also tried the basil chicken which was not very good. Not much taste or sauce; they used chicken breast which was a little overcooked and dry. My son had tried the chicken satay and garlic beef. He said the satay was ok, but the garlic beef was out of the ballpark! I tried it too and I think it was the best dish of the ones we tried. I'd come back here when visiting my son. The homeowner told my son that the the owner of the building told the restaurant owners that if he rented the space to them they would have to name the restaurant "Thai One On". Can anyone else verify this claim? read more

Only had 2 things: seafood salad and a vegetable w/ chicken dish. Both very fresh, healthy, and delicious, with (and I asked for "4/4 star Thai spicy") enough spice for someone who likes spice w/o drowning out the flavor nuances. That puts it up there with one of my other favorite Thai places, Kwanjai, in Fremont. The service was good. The atmosphere was surprisingly pleasant. Not a hole in the wall like Kwanjai, but still intimate-feeling, and also clean, which is always reassuring. They also have a nice looking little bar in the back (it was too early maybe for anything to be going on there, but I'd come back to check that out). Final verdict: RECOMMEND, if you're looking for thai food in the Lake City/Northgate area. That said, if you're undecided between that or Mai Thaiku in Greenwood/Phinney Ridge, I'd lean toward the latter. Everything is slightly better there, including the location of course. This is by far the best Thai place in Seattle and I'm actually shocked it doesn't have more stars. After moving across town, we tried other Thai restaurants that were closer, but none could compete with this place. Their noodles--pad see ew and pad thai--are the most flavorful of any place I've tried by far, and their curries are seriously delicious. I revisited this old favorite again last night, and I'm glad that my memory served me well on how much I liked it. The Larb Gai was packed with flavor and served with fresh spinach (Pop-eye would have been proud). I always enjoy the different curries, and tonight was no exception. The helpings were generous, and I'm already getting excited for left overs for dinner! A big plus was that the waiter offered to give us extra rice to take home. Bonus!
