Let's "Thai One On!" were the words uttered when we realized that Toyoda Sushi was closed today, but we still wanted to get "some kind of asian food" with an out-of-town friend. The spring rolls were tasty, the calamari was tasty, the Tom Kha (soup) was tasty, the curries were tasty, and I hear their desserts are delicious. The cost was a bit more than I like to pay for my Thai food, but... I guess the nicer interior (than that of most cheaper spots) and the existence of a full bar (so you're not limited to beer and wine) is worth something? The service was good. Just don't try to pay with a card if your purchase is under $7, because they have a $2 charge for that! read more

Love this place!! Thai food is my favorite and I've been eating Thai all of my life. Been coming to this particular restaurant for over ten years. Jeeb is the sweetest waitress and kindest person. The Pad Thai is great but it's even better if you order the Panang curry and have that together with the Cashew Chicken. Definitely the best three dishes in my opinion. In addition depending on the weather and my mood sometimes I will bet it all on the Tom kah.. usually order all with chicken but if with some of the vegetarians the fried tofu is the way to go. Or just extra vegetables.. also a side of peanut sauce or red curry sauce is great too. Often we come here with 8-10 people and they are great at accommodating us with no reservation.. great people.. but it can get busy depending on the time and day but it's because this is one of the best places in town. Always bring new friends here not to mention I think everyone in our family knows this is where we are meeting for family dinner anytime it happens! When we come with bigger groups of people .. other dishes we order and are great are the yellow curry fried rice .. add pineapple.. as well as two orders of the cashew nut and pad Thai.. usually enough for 10 people.. During the week.. the tofu soup that comes with the lunch special is great ... especially with a little soy sauce and hot sauce (you must ask for both) .. What to get here: Crying Tiger, Crispy Pork Over Rice, Pad See Ew I dine here every now and then. But always order a take out once a week from this place. I always park at the back 'parking lot' because street parking kinda freaks me out.. so I always enter the restaurant from the back door, which is next to the kitchen. Really love the foods specially Crying Tiger, their (strong) homemade spicy lime juice makes this dish really really good. Crispy pork over rice is also pretty good, which is my friends and family's favorite. I love this place and I'm surprised they don't have a higher rating here on yelp! read more

Well I don't know what has changed but my peanut sauce was the chef scooping peanut butter, heating it up and putting it in a cup. My chicken satay was drier than dry. So disappointed. I stopped going before because of the peanut sauce and it got better...now we are back to just a heated up scoop of peanut butter. read more

This place is good - but hard to say they're awesome (I've reserved that distinction for Thai Tom). * I give this place 3.5 stars * Fushion Thai? Traditional Thai? I wasn't impressed with their papaya salad and basil chicken. The papaya salad seemed like there were more carrots than the papaya. There wasn't much flavor to it. As for the basil chicken, we requested it to be made with the ground chicken but they ran out. I didn't think the basil chicken was tasty. HOWEVER, the phad see ew and pineapple curry was good. The phad see ew was very tasteful and mouth watering. The pineapple curry was creamy and thick! The curry was very good with the sticky rice. This is more of a 3.5 star review I've come to Thai one on numerous times over the years and have concluded that it's fairly reliable. The phad thai is good, as well as the larb gai, and basically any noodle dish you get there. Portions are good and price is within normal range for thai around the area. However, some of the other dishes I've tried have been misses. Last time, I ordered an eggplant and beef dish, which lacked in flavor and the eggplant seemed undercooked while the beef was a bit tough. I've also tried their duck noodle soup which was tasty, but overly oily and salty. I think I'll be sticking to what I know is good (stir fried noodle dishes) next time instead of venturing out a bit. Overall, a good thai place if you order the right thing. Service is prompt and satisfactory and compared to some other places around the area, this one is one of the better ones. read more

The food that I ordered home were not properly packed. When I got home the soup leaked on my car floor. And two items mixes up in the plastic bag. (To their wait staffs, if you don't care to give services please find a different job.) I used to work in a restaurant, my mom always told me that packing to-go items are as important as giving good services; you do want the food to not spilled and mixed up in the bag and not really edible!! My partner and I come here about once per week and have since we moved into the neighborhood about three years ago. We've both ordered a variety of dishes and appetizers from the menu and have always been completely satisfied. The staff have always been kind, friendly and accommodating, whether we are staying in to dine or ordering out and food is ready promptly. I was last her this past Friday and ordered the Pad Thai with chicken and a friend of mine ordered pineapple curry and both of us thought the food was delicious. I also ordered crab wontons, which is my favorite appetizer. I've tried several Thai restaurants in this neighborhood and Thai One On is by far my favorite. read more

I'm so glad that the food is just as good as it was 4 years ago when I lived around Lake City! My best friend/old roomie & I decided to come here since we were shopping at Northgate Mall. We went a little before 6pm and it was busy. We ordered a curry chicken dish and chicken phad thai, both with 4 stars. The chicken phad thai wasn't that spicy to me but the curry dish had a little of a kick but no tummyache so yay! I hate getting old... It took awhile to get our food b/c it was so darn busy. They were filling phone orders, to-go orders and orders from seated customers. I was so hungry... we finally got our food (yay!) and it was soooo good. The flavor was perfect, not too bland (curry & phad thai) nor too greasy (phad thai). The servers made sure that our water cups were always full and made sure we had everything we needed. It got busier as time passed-tons of people were waiting for available tables around 7pm. All-in-all, a great dinner! read more

This lovely neighborhood Thai place is consistently good - I've been here for dinner (or ordered to go) on average about once a week for the past few months! Dishes I love: - Goy See Mee (I normally get 3-4* spicy but for this one I get 5*) - Snowpeas & seafood entrée - Prawns in the Blanket - Basil fried rice - Rice pudding Dishes that are good, but not my fave: - Phad Thai - Phad See Ew - Rad Nah - Crispy Crab Wontons I once ordered a stir-fry eggplant dish that I would not get again, but I haven't seen it on the menu since. The food is ready quickly, and even 4-5 entrees + appetizers to-go can be ready in 15 minutes (SWEET). The dine-in service is excellent and the restaurant seems quite clean. The curries are o-k. I definitely think the stir-fry dishes here are better options. Perhaps Thai One On isn't the bestest Thai food I've ever had in my life, but I couldn't have asked for a better restaurant on LCW. read more

I used to go here frequently whether solo, groups, or for take out. I was kindly invited to lunch by a college friend and had the opportunity to revisit this Lake City neighborhood restaurant yesterday 11/4/13. Lunch selections ($7.99) are generous and served piping hot to your table. I love that the Phad Thai doesn't arrive congealed and strangely ketchup red. The preceding cup of soup was like an egg drop with a peppery kick. Service was spare, but understood since it was just one person covering waiting tables, dealing with takeout, and covering bussing too. While it's not on par with Pestle Rock in Ballard, May in Wallingford, or Little Uncle in Capitol Hill and Pioneer Square - it is has been going strong after all these years. read more

Hmm. I wrote a decent review for this place a while back, but now that I've recently had their Pad Thai again, I'm downgrading a star. I ordered a 5-star chicken pad thai and fresh rolls to-go, and the entire meal was pretty miserable. Every single part of that meal was bland. I have to say I had never had a bland peanut sauce until I tried Thai One On's. Fresh rolls were not great, which is astounding since it's so hard to screw those up. Oh, and the 5-star chicken pad thai? Not spicy, not tamarind-y, not a whole lot of any flavor whatsoever. Yikes. I haven't had their other dishes yet so I guess if I'm really desperate for Thai food and not in the drive very far I'll come back here, but Pad Thai is definitely not their specialty. read more

I only had one thing on the menu, and it was the Tom Ka soup. I was sick with a head cold and my favorite place to get it, Thai Bistro, does not deliver or belong to DoorDash, so I was kinda stuck. Thai one on was highly rated and with nothing else to go on, what is a gal suppose to do? So I am of course comparing to my favorite place, but it was not worthy. It was pretty flavorless and the chicken was dry. It promises lemongrass, mushrooms, lime leaves, cilantro and galangal. I saw mushrooms, dry chicken, and I believe big chunks of lemongrass. Are you supposed to have to pick these out, because I spent a lot of time doing that. They certainly are not edible as they had the texture of wood chips. I wasn't offered a level of spice either, so it did not have any kick. Based on my soup, which should be pretty easy IMHO to get right, I would not recommend Thai One On. DISGUSTING!!! Ordered through door dash. Chicken Satay was beyond raw, not just pink. RAW. So gross. Also ordered Pad See Ew - beef and after calling they confirmed it was beef even though the meat is white in color. Fried rice was ok but had a big mass of connected meat. Which we had to throw out. Spring rolls were delivered cold even though we live approx 5 miles from the restaurant. Overall the food we picked at was completely devoid of flavor. Fortunately DoorDash provided a full refund. I got an order to go, and I couldn't decide what I wanted, so I got two things, yellow curry with tofu and pad sea ew with tofu. The pad sea ew had a good flavor, although it was a bit sweet. I liked that they had a choice between soft or fried tofu. Unfortunately their yellow curry was not what I was hankering for. It was thicker than typical curry and wasn't as yellow as other places. It didn't have any potatoes or mushrooms or carrots like other places either. Instead, it was a whole lot of celery and a few pieces of bell peppers... Both of which I am not a fan of. Vegans and lactose intolerant beware! I was a long-time customer of Thai One On. I will no longer eat there because they substituted cows milk for coconut milk in my dish without telling me. So, here's the story. I have been going to Thai One On forever....maybe a decade. Over the past year it seems like the quality of the food is decreasing. And people are not as friendly. Last week I had an awful experience that I almost didn't share here, but feel I should for the health of the neighborhood. Just for some background, I am lactose intolerant, so don't drink cows milk. I have a reliable unpleasant response to cows milk that I do my best to avoid. I love Thai curries and soups because they give me the creaminess without the stomach upset. I eat them about once a week. Last week we went to Thai One On, our trusted spot. The folks didn't seem friendly, there were new staff, and the place was empty. It used to be hopping. That was strange. I ordered a traditional curry soup that is supposed to be made with coconut milk according to their menu. I have had it many times at Thai One On over the years. As I was eating the soup, it tasted different than usual, kind of like cows milk. I thought it was just me or maybe the spice. Bad move! Note to self: trust your pallet. I should have stopped right there, but I thought my decade-long trusted Thai place would never substitute cows milk for coconut as listed on their menu. That would be a violation of the tenants of Thai cooking and a breach of customer trust. When I got home, sure enough the painful and distinctive signs of lactose intolerance kicked in. That's a nearly scientific measure for me that I drank cow's milk. I was pissed at Thai One On for doing that to people, but also for not trusting my pallet. Double whammy! It pains me to say, as I am a long time customer, but I won't be back. I am grateful to Thai One On for the decade of good food. Also because they helped me learn to trust myself - the painful way. Previously, I had rated this restaurant with 5 stars; however, my most recent experience with them has made me adjust my review. Especially, since they've raised their prices and the delivery minimum... :( I ordered the Pad Kee Mao, Green Curry, and steamed rice- pretty much my go-to. I ordered everything with mild or no spice, this time, as I was planning on sharing with my 1 year-Old. Not only was the curry spicier than usual, but they definitely brought me sticky rice instead of the steamed rice. Oh, and I'm pretty sure their was beef in my curry instead of the chicken I requested... The Pad Kee Mao was delicious as usual, and the only part of the order that was correct. Ordered shrimp fried rice and crispy garlic chicken to go and decided to dine in. The food was gross. The crispy garlic chicken is hard and chewy, somewhat stringy. I asked the worker if it was fresh and he replied that they deep fry "white meat" only and it just comes out that way. The meal was $26 dollars and not worth it at all! I strongly recommend going somewhere else... even the Panda Express down the street is better. To be honest, I love Thai food and I have my standards but this place needs to provide fresh food. I've ordered delivery here a few times so far. I live nearby and my heritage on my mothers side is Thai so I can appreciate good authentic Thai food. The convenience of delivery is ideal for those afternoons that I don't feel like going out to eat. Thai One On's value prices and offer of 'Free Delivery' brought them to my attention, and here's my summary of my experience with them. The first time around seemed pretty fair. Just ordered my Pad-Thai and Pad-See-Ew to test the place out, see how they treat my favorite noodle dishes. Everything was good, except for needing to call me to help find my place (happens a lot, my address is on the wrong side of the street so it's understandable.) Second time around is when I tried ordering the Pad-Thai with duck to get above that $20+ limit for the free delivery, which is tougher than it sounds when most of the dishes are priced at $9.99, and tax is not counted towards your $20 goal. This is when I realized I received a massive duck ribcage bone in my dish after biting into a smaller, somewhat sharp one, and I've got the picture on my phone to prove it. (I felt like a dinosaur chewing on that one.) Third time around, my latest attempt at ordering delivery which was just a few days ago, already very put off from my past experience though willing to give them another chance. I ordered the Swimming Rama chicken and Pad-See-Ew beef, each $9.99 as well as a pineapple juice drink for $3.50 to get that counter above $20, and there was no way I was going to venture on ordering specialty meats again after what happened last time. Well this time around my delivery guy forgot to give me my pineapple drink before he took off and the beef in the Pad-See-Ew tasted rather odd like maybe it was old or improperly stored at some point. Blegh. While the chicken was decent in the taste, it was somewhat dry and overall not spiced very well at all to how I ordered it. TL;DR I am very disappointed in most of my experience with this place and I won't be ordering from here anymore. The price may be somewhat cheaper than other Thai places, and the food may taste okay (*most of the time) but it's definitely not worth the lack of care and attention shown.
