I do like this place. The service is always friendly. The Phad Tai and the Phad Kee Mow are what I usually get there. This place is cheaper than most of the Thai places I've been to. The Phad Tai is 7 something and most places are about 10 bucks. I work near the place. So I usually get my Thai food cravings satisfied. The only thing I would say that I don't like is that the spicy level is not constant. Sometimes a four star would taste like a 6 or even a 2. At the suggestion of a friend who works in the area, we dined at Thai Ocean tonight. I was thankful for the suggestion as I had been craving Thai food - and Thai Ocean did not disappoint. It is not a fancy atmosphere in regards to decor, but service is friendly and the food was great and authentic. We had mini Thai fried spring rolls, panaang curry and pad thai. We ordered 3 stars and it was pretty spicy (out of 5)... We both can handle some spice (especially my husband), but I think I'll order the 2 stars next time. :) While we'd love to try other things on the menu when we go back, we loved both dishes so much it's likely we'd order them again and again. :) read more

Food is amazing and the price is right! My dining partner was complaining that most places only give you "American spicy", not real Thai spice. Guess what, I got to hear sniffling, sneezing, coughing, and got to look at his teary eyes. Hahhahaaha They did it right because he said it was delicious! Amazing little place in Greenlake I happened to find. Called in an order for dinner, phad kee meo, pineapple fried rice and order of fresh spring rolls, ready in 10 minutes. They have a little parking lot out front, which was nice. Total for our dinner was about $28...but I can tell you it was worth it. I could barely lift the bag when I carried it out to the car, it was super heavy. My bf had complained earlier about the other Thai place near us about how expensive it is and the tiny portions, so that is why I decided to try here. When I got home, we were both pleasantly surprised at the large amounts of food we got. My bf was very happy, as was I, with our dinners. They were full of flavor and the stars requested was right on target. The peanut sauce with the 3 rolls was amazing, too. We will order dinner here again soon. read more

This place is near my apartment, so I would think it should be my go to place for thai, but it's not. It's more expensive than what it should be. It doesn't blow me away by any standard, but it's solid. The value just isn't there. read more

This is probably the first 4-star rating I've given to a restaurant to which I will NOT return. The main reason for the high rating: the service was superb. The waitstaff anticipated the needs of our family (multiple small kids) better that we've experienced at probably any other restaurant. Kudos and thanks. My fiance and I LOVE Thai Ocean. We live only a few blocks away and on the rare occasion that we decide to eat out, this place is a no-brainer. We eat in, as well as take out. Service has always been prompt when we're in the restaurant, and for take out our order is ready in 10-15 minutes. We're huge fans of the Pad See Ew in particular :) read more

My sister and I were looking for a Thai restaurant to have dinner at near Greenlake. Thai Ocean was convenient, so we chose to come here. She is gluten free so we always need to be a little careful about the food we order, etc., but the staff was SO helpful and considerate of her allergy. They seemed to check and double check that all of the food was okay for her to eat. I was really impressed by the friendliness and the service. The food was delicious as well. The peanut sauce alone is worth returning to this restaurant for. Highly recommended. I'll definitely be returning. During our meal, my sister said she was already trying to figure out when she could come back. Prices are very reasonable as well. read more

Service wasn't great for me, I was the only customer in the entire restaurant.. They bring complimentary soup, there's a cool fish tank and a lot of bamboo plants. It looks clean, Bathroom was clean. Food was great, tofu amazing. As a vegan I'm very critical of tofu. I've had better thia food, but I've had much much worse. I will be returning. read more

But, it's very close for me, my standard thai takeout joint due to convenience/location, and I'll continue to go there on occasion. My family has been coming to this restaurant for years. The service is always terrific, and the food is fabulous. There aren't any trendy new items on the menu (I can attest that it has not changed for the past 10 years, and the plates of Pad Thai I devoured here in middle school were as delicious then as they are today), but they do have all the staples. Keep in mind that this is a family run, down home Thai restaurant, and it is decorated accordingly. I've been to many thai reastaurants, but not all of them give good customer service. Some restaurant like Thai bistro have a very nice setting inside, but does not know how to give good customer service. When i go out to eat the first thing i look for is customer service, taste of the food, and how good of a service they can give. The first time i went to Thai Ocean i felt as if i know the owner. It's a family own restaurant, but i felt comfortable asking for what i want to add on to the dish that i odered. I odered papaya salad, Pad Thai, and tum yum. I never really liked pad thai, but after i had pad thai at Thai Ocean i knew right then and there that i would be going back there. The lady that serve me was really nice and she constantly check up to see if i needed anything else. Anyways Thai Ocean is a small family dinning restaurant, but it is a place that would satisfied your need. Plus i just went there again yesterday. :) read more

I like this place. It's a typical asian family style restaurant on the inside. The food is good and the staff are really nice. The food is american style Thai. It's not the best I've had but good. I typically order Pad Thai. It's ok, albeit, it is almost all noodles. The last time I ordered, the owner was cooking, so I'm guessing that would explain the lack of chicken, etc, in it. Noodles are cheaper. It's a tad sweet, but still good and a good portion. It is not nearly as good as Thai Tom, but the place is much more clean. The chicken satays are good. Don't bother with the Shrimp. You get 6 previously frozen small sized shrimp fried up on plain lettuce. Not good value and really just a waste of $6.5. Staff are very friendly. read more

Wanting to make a quick 9:30pm dash for Thai food, we ended up at the nearby Thai Ocean. Even though it was close to closing time, the hostess/waitress was very friendly and allowed us to eat in. I was a little worried the place would look run down based on other reviews and other shabbier restaurants in the area, but I was pleasantly surprised. It seemed nice and clean, and the lighting level was just right. We started with the fresh rolls, which were excellently wrapped but a little dry. The accompanying peanut sauce was abundant and delicious. Two of us asked for more than 5 stars of spiciness, to which the waitress confirmed "Thai hot", but as usual, it didn't end up making any difference. Fortunately, she immediately brought us the DIY spice tray, which featured four different weapons of ass destruction. I ordered my staple "chicken, basil, bell pepper, onion, and mushroom in chili paste" dish, and found it satisfying, especially for the $7.95 price and covered with briny sliced chilies and red chili paste from the tray. While I wouldn't rave about it, my friend was raving about his duck curry, and was quite excited to have enough for leftovers the next day. (My friends commented that Asian food seems to taste better the next day, perhaps due to extra marination. This led to an informal feasibility study for a "Second Day Asian" restaurant. We ended up shelving the idea, in hopes that it too would improve with age.) Anyway, while it didn't end up displacing any of my favorite Thai joints, I'm sure I'll be back before long. read more

I live about 3 blocks from this place but I was always under the impression that it was a seafood joint. Being a veg that kept me from trying it. But then one day I decided to stop in and check it out. Man am I glad I did. Their Pad Thai is among the best ive had, ive gotten in 3 times in the past month. Last time I went in I decided to try something new. I got flustered and just picked a random number from the veggie menu. Basil something, it was pretty amazing itself. i just picked up some takeout from ocean thai for the 1st time-WOW! the duck curry pretty much rocked my husband's world and my phad thai tofu is PERFECT. not dry at all and very flavorful-delish. Not the cheapest eats not the most expensive-i think well worth the quality. The Duck curry is very affordable if you get one order & split it over rice. whats that? they're open until 9:30pm?
