Pineapple fried rice came with a cherry but not a single piece of pineapple.
    Dianne C.

Ordered pineapple fried rice and Tom kha gai for takeout . The pineapple fried rice had not a single piece of pineapple but had an array of other stuff but hardly any flavor. First time seeing a cherry in fried rice too. Tom Kha Gai was underwhelming, was hoping this was gonna be a simple hole in the wall with good food and it's just a hole a whole in a wall with no flavor. On to the next Thai place.

Very tasty stir fry and red curry with shrimp, full at lunch. Generous portions. Definitely definitely go back

Although I appreciate this place being one of the few options for Asian cuisine in the area, the food tasted so bland for my liking.

Stuffed Chicken Wings: aokay! Wish they had sticky rice to serve along side.

What a sweet little find. Located in a small strip mall on Trancas this unassuming spot is dishing out tasty Thai cookery all served with a welcoming smile. On a side note, this strip mall is surprisingly busy as at lunch time so parking can be a bit scarce, just be warned. Being new to Thai Kitchen I ordered a few different dishes to get a feel for the place. Please see below for the items I ordered along with some tasting notes. Thai Iced Tea: I loved on this tall glass of yum pretty hard, to the point of almost ordering a second one. Creamy and intensely flavored, this is a classic must have beverage. For some it might be too sweet, so order a glass of iced water so you may dilute to your liking. Stuffed Chicken Wings: really good. Making these is a laborious process of removing the meat and bones from the wing, all while not tearing the skin. The meat is mixed with glass noodles and other ingredients which are stuffed back into the wing, breaded and deep fried to perfection. My only wish is that they served sticky rice along side, Thai Kitchen doesn't offer sticky rice as an option. Thai BBQ Chicken: moist, juicy and flavorful. The dish came with a sweet and vinegary dipping sauce along with a steaming mound of fragrant rice. The sauce reminded me of Thai Original BBQ Restaurant in Las Vegas, so many delicious memories. Thai Kitchen does serve beer and wine so Im looking forward to having dinner there really soon. Sweet whites pair amazingly with spicy food, one of life's many little pleasures. Can't wait.

The food came out pretty quickly and was a good portion size. Everything is very saucy which I like. I enjoy my noodles with more sauce. I liked that they had a special on the pad Thai. It was a soft shell crab pad Thai with shrimp. Their sauces tend to be on the sweeter side and may get overwhelming after you eat half of it. The batter on the crab was not my favorite but I still ate it. They offer a sweet and sour sauce and a salad dressing (white) sauce that tastes similar to Japanese salad dressing. The waitress offered us friend garlic for the duck and it was delicious. I also loved all the hot sauces they brought out for us. I'd definitely come back here!

Everything else needs serious work…read more We came in on March 16, 2026 around 6 PM and ordered the crispy chicken fried rice and yellow beef curry. Both dishes were genuinely great. Flavorful, fresh, and exactly what you'd hope for. That's the only reason this isn't a lower rating. Service, on the other hand, has been consistently disappointing across multiple visits. No greeting when we walked in. No acknowledgment when we left. Not a single check in during the meal. And this isn't just a one off experience. It's happened before. What makes it worse is the contrast. While we were being completely overlooked, I watched the server be noticeably more attentive and friendly with other tables. It wasn't subtle. It's uncomfortable to sit there and feel like you're being treated as an afterthought while others are getting actual service. To top it off, my partner's iced tea was forgotten again. Something that also happened during a previous visit. At that point, it stops feeling like a simple mistake and starts feeling like a pattern of carelessness. And let's be real. The overall attitude comes off unnecessarily bougie for a casual Thai restaurant. Yes, this is near Napa Valley wine country, but that doesn't justify selective hospitality or a cold, dismissive vibe. Take that energy somewhere else if it means certain customers are going to be treated differently. I'm not here to speculate on intent, but I am calling out the experience. As returning customers, we've repeatedly felt unwelcome and overlooked. That's not acceptable in any restaurant, especially one that clearly has the potential to be great based on the food alone. Right now, the front of house is dragging this place down. Good food can't make up for service that makes people feel invisible.

There's limited parking in the area, but it can be tight. We had a reservation for a late afternoon and the restaurant was getting pretty busy. I would definitely recommend reservations during peak times dinner hours. We were pleasantly greeted and had an opportunity to walk through a very cool bar area. The restaurants surrounds a courtyard, which would be lovely in warmer weather. Just beyond the courtyard you can see from just about every area of the restaurant right into the kitchen, which is always fun. Without any surprise, there's an extensive wine list available as well as a fantastic list of mixed drinks and mocktails. Every dish was amazingly flavorful with attention to every detail. As visually beautiful as all the dishes tasted. Everything was made with quality ingredients and flawlessly executed. I'm not sure I have enough adjectives to describe how wonderful a dining experience this can be. Highly recommend that you find your way to this tucked away gem.

As such, it was extremely noisy and you could see that couples on dates had a hard time even talking to one another, and eventually just stopped. I could barely hear my wife talking next to me. Most of the servers would even have to lean in to hear the orders. As for the food, nothing really stood out. We ordered a large variety as we were a group of 10 eating family style and nothing really stood out. The quality of the food I would say was akin to fast food or mall food court level, but you're paying 3 times as much. The price belied the food quality. For example, 3 small pieces of ribs as an appetizer for more than $30, I'd expect it to be uniquely spiced, flavorful and juicy, but it was rather dry and tasted as like sauce from Panda Express. Their Wagyu beef carpaccio had too many strong flavors so the taste of the beef itself was lost. Heck, it didn't even really have the notable creamy-like texture that wagyu was supposed to have either (likely a lower grade of wagyu, probably somewhere between USDA Choice and Prime). A lot of their items feel gimmicky too: the unagi clay pot came with some seaweed, a seaweed holder, and two small bottles of sauces. The sauces were bland and contributed nothing to the dish. Making your own "hand rolls" with the seaweed did nothing for this dish other than get your hands dirty. I've watched enough Iron Chef back in the day to understand that this is very Morimoto, as he tries to make the dishes fun. The unagi itself was quite nice, though it might be my personal bias. The Halibut we got was overcooked and dry. Yes halibut is a firmer meat, but man this was hard to eat. The best dish was likely the Ishiyaki Buri Bop, which came with some tables idea theatrics. Nevertheless, for the price, you could do much better at a place like Kunjip Tofu in the bay. Overall, a bad experience. Based on the price point, I thought we'd be getting better food and better ambience, but it was overall mediocre - a blemish on the Morimoto name.

*** Vegetarian Review ***…read more None of their dishes have fish sauce so you don't get knocked over the head with the smell when you walk in. They remind me every time I order, but as a vegetarian, we've all had that fish smell delivered to us at a Thai restaurant at least once (probably twice, more likely three times) in our eating lifetimes. It is such a relief to not have to worry about that here. Would I Come Back? Yes, when I'm in town, I make it a point to come here. Did I mention they don't use fish sauce!? Parking is is incredibly easy so that's never an issue. It's a shared parking lot with many stores and other restaurants. I typically go on a Sunday for lunch, and even with a party of 5, I haven't had to wait for a table. Seating capacity is probably 45-50 guests so if you're planning a large party, definitely best to call ahead and make a reservation. The Food: Roti & Yellow Curry ($14, Grade A+): Fried roti with a yellow curry dipping sauce. It's a super savory dish, and honestly, I should have had you at "fried." If you're wondering what roti is, think of it as a buttery, flaky, pan-fried flatbread. It's large enough appetizer to share with 3 people, but you're pushing your luck with 4. Pad Thai with Fried Tofu ($16, Grade A): I've had this dish 5 times now. To be completely transparent, it's the exact reason why I can't give Pearl Thai a full 5-star rating, purely because of consistency. The first time I got it, it was perfect. The second and third times, it had no sauce and was dry. The fourth time, I asked them to make it saucy, and they obliged to an almost soupy level. For this fifth time, I just ordered it straight up and zipped my lip on any alterations. As they say, the fifth time was a charm! When it's made with the perfect amount of sauce, this dish is excellent. The noodles have that exact texture you look for in a pad thai, and the egg gets that great scorch from the wok for an added layer of flavor. Also, the tofu has been incredibly fresh every single time. It never tastes slightly spoiled, which happens a lot in smaller towns that don't heavily support plant-based diets where tofu just sits in a fridge eagerly awaiting someone to order it. Mixed Vegetables ($14, Grade A): Sautéed wood ear mushrooms and mixed vegetables in a garlic soy sauce. If you've ever had Pad Pak, you already know this flavor profile. I really enjoyed it, but next time I'll ask for no carrots and maybe half the garlic. Overall, it's a perfect dish that absolutely requires steamed rice to soak up all that great flavor. Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango ($8, Grade A): The classic dessert we see at all Thai restaurants, but they serve it with purple sticky rice, making it a visually yummy dish. It's plenty of food to share between two people. Bottom Line: The service here is great and very friendly. It's a small, local shop with "Best in Town" awards highlighted on the walls. The environment is clean, and the food is served hot and arrives at the table quick. One Last Word: Don't leave here without ordering the roti with yellow curry for an appetizer. Pure savory goodness!
