The line. Food was meh.
Craig Y.

There's a reason this place only has 3 1/2 stars. We didn't find anything good about it. But again there was nothing bad about it either. It was just kind of meh. I really wanted to like it because I love supporting local businesses and I also love Chinese food. Especially fast food, Chinese food. I want Panda Express does it better, that says a lot. FOOD: service and cost were great, so it was in this area that they really failed to come through. The sesame chicken did not taste like sesame chicken that I've ever had. The orange chicken was blah. Did not have any spice or any flavor that I could discern. It was basically fried chicken in liquid. The combo chicken was not spicy at all and in fact, it was kind of sweet, which is weird for Compal chicken compared to everywhere else I've ever had it. The teriyaki chicken was the only part that I thought was reasonably good and even that was only OK. SERVICE: service was OK. The portion sizes were huge and the quantity great so no complaints there. COST: again, cost was very reasonable, especially for how much they give you. If the food was better, this place could easily be a 5 Star Pl. but instead, the best I could give it is three stars.

Haven't been here in a long time I wanted some Chinese food and it was nearby very mid at best sizzling walk inside of Raleys drastically better and cheaper $12 for a three entrée combo compared to $17 for a two item here. Also, they missed saucing half my orange chicken

Sub par waste of $14

Disappointing. $14.70 down the drain. Actually $14.95 they charged me. .25 cent for a stale fortune cookie. I actually was looking forward to trying this place. Luke warm not fresh. Staff pretty cold not friendly. I got a combo plate. After they filled up my portion with chow mein , another worker dumped fresh chow mein on top of the old stuff in the bin. The broccoli tasted like it was out of a can. Same story with the rice and chow mein. Hot stale garbage. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Not coming back

Dear D.

I LOVE HOP HINGS KITCHEN! As a college student, it is hard to find food in Napa that is cost effective and gives you as much food as they can stuff into their boxes. My favorite is the fried rice! I think about it all the time and I'm craving it as we speak!!! My friends always know that my go-to for food in Napa is Hop Hings Kitchen. The service is fast and I would prefer this place to Panda Express. I love Hop Hings Kitchen!

Steam table of entree's- Kudos for keeping it clean and orderly.

Good selections of freshly cooked entries. Only sad part is they are closed Saturday and Sunday.

This was so bad we paid and left it on the table uneaten. All the food tasted the same -no flavor.

The restaurant is fabulous with a glass view of Napa and patio. We came in as a group of 10 and the…read morerestaurant was packed! From 5-7 PM they have Happy Hour where I enjoyed my lychee martini. The maki rolls came with 6 rolls, with the sushi being 1 pc each. The spicy tuna roll was very affordable with fresh high quality fish. I like how the sushi was fairly simple, which amplified the deep flavor of the fish. I also ordered one fatty tuna sashimi, which was melt in your mouth! Miso soup, which had homemade tofu is rich, but the tofu was average. Gyoza was average, more on the dryer side. The salmon taretare was very good, coming with different sauces. I tasted a bit of my coworker's unagi bowl, which came with seaweed to create a roll. I thought the unagi was grilled well, but the marinade on top was too sweet. The sweetness of the sauce overpowered the natural flavor of the eel. A highlight was their dessert lime sago. It was not too sweet and came with ice cream. There were pop rocks sprinkled in that gave a unique texture.

Morimoto Napa: A deeply disappointing dining experience…read more My wife and I recently returned to Napa, one of our favorite places, and decided to try Morimoto while celebrating 40 years since we first met. We ordered the $180-per-person omakase and added the $95 A5 Wagyu supplement for each of us. With drinks, tax, and tip, our final bill was over $800. We were perfectly comfortable spending that kind of money for a special occasion, but unfortunately, the experience was a tremendous disappointment. And to be clear, this isn't about the money. Even if the entire meal had cost $50, I would have been disappointed. The food simply wasn't good. The omakase nigiri was particularly bad. The rice was atrocious, and the preparation of the fish was hardly better. Sushi rice is fundamental to good nigiri, and getting that wrong undermines the entire dish. Several of the other courses were excessively salty, with little of the balance or refinement we expected. The presentation was also surprisingly uninspired. My wife commented on how ordinary everything looked, especially for an omakase experience where you would expect some thought and craftsmanship in how each course is presented. Then there was the A5 Wagyu. Before ordering, I asked our waitress about it, and she described it as wonderfully buttery. We've had excellent Wagyu in Japan, so we had a reasonable idea of what to expect. Unfortunately, this wasn't remotely close. The appearance was unappealing, the flavor disappointing, and the texture lacked the richness and tenderness we were looking forward to. At $95 for a small portion, it was a particularly poor addition to an already underwhelming meal. My wife is Japanese, and we travel to Japan regularly, so we're familiar with excellent sushi and Wagyu. But I wasn't expecting Morimoto to replicate a traditional Japanese restaurant. I knew it was fusion, and I have no problem with that. Good cooking is good cooking, regardless of the style. What I expected was quality, proper technique, balanced flavors, and some genuine attention to detail. Unfortunately, we found very little of that here. The service didn't help matters. When our waitress asked how we enjoyed the nigiri, I told her directly that it was terrible and explained why, particularly the rice. I made clear that I wasn't blaming her personally. She seemed genuinely surprised by the criticism, but there was no apology, no meaningful acknowledgment, and no attempt during that conversation to address our dissatisfaction. She was pleasant enough otherwise, but there's a difference between being superficially pleasant and actually caring about a guest's experience. What bothers me most is the disconnect between Morimoto's reputation and what actually arrived at our table. I've had far better food at small, unpretentious restaurants where the people preparing it clearly care about what they're doing. A celebrity chef's name and an impressive bill don't substitute for craftsmanship. We went there to celebrate something meaningful, and instead we spent the evening wondering how a restaurant with this reputation could get so many basic things wrong. Perhaps others have had better experiences, but ours was genuinely awful. I wouldn't return, and I certainly wouldn't recommend the omakase. Not because it was expensive, but because the food wasn't good. The price just made the disappointment that much worse.
