It's a wild mix in the food court. The Hunan China Express served sushi and stir fry. It was actually easy to pick out a diabetic friendly order. I went with the sushi. It was delicious freshly made-the flavors were carefully composed so you got different tastes as you bit into the roll. There was just a hint of smoke to the seaweed. Much more than expected from a food court offering. All for 6.99. A nice price, just enough food to take the edge off. Customer service was literally the best Asia could offer. My second visit to this family owned food court restaurant. The first time we enjoyed the Mongolian beef which was very tender with a flavorful sauce! Today we visited and bought their pork egg rolls. These are the best egg rolls I've had since we moved here earlier this year. Will definitely be returning to buy more! Given this was the only spot to get a meal in the outlet mall, we appreciated their food! It was well priced for what we got. Personally I think the fried rice and chow mein didn't have enough flavor but the meats were great. The spicy chicken was delicious in flavor and perfect amount of crispy-ness. The potstickers took 5 minutes for them to make but we're done fresh and we're very yummy. Service was good, wonton was fresh took a few mins to make but was quick. Rest of good was meh, chicken chow mein noodles were really soft and more like a pasta with no sauce. Broccoli beef was meh, and the spicy chicken was ok good sauce but the chicken was dry. Then it really killed the meal when I found the hair. This is steam table Chinese. As long as you know what you're getting into, it's pretty good. There are a lot of choices available, but I'll be honest that a lot of them look similar and kind of dried out. They'll let you sample any thought, so you can check to be sure! This will probably be one of the cheapest places in Napa you can find. $7.89 will get you two entrees and chicken lo main, as opposed to $12 getting you a tiny tapa. I went here when I needed to sober up from a Napa Valley Distillery event, and it did the job great. I got the spicy chicken and the king's chicken (basically kung pao), and both were quite tasty. The spice isn't too intense but it's definitely there. If you're spice sensitive, I'd recommend trying first. I highly recommend adding their hot sauce too. Delicious. The chicken low mein was better than most mall Chinese starches, but you'll still find they're skimpy on the chicken. Overall, I'd happy come back here, but I won't be going out of my way to tell people about it. read more

I was at the Outlets doing some shopping and thought I'd check out the "food court". I hadn't been in there in years and was surprised to find just 2 choices, Suppertime and Hunan China. I thought I'd opt for the "healthier" choice and went to Hunan. I ordered Broccoli Beef and mixed veggies. No rice or noodles. With a bottle of water my total was almost $10. It looked good and fresh. I took my tray and went directly to a table. The first bite was ok. The second bite was stone cold. COLD! It came off a "steam table", yet upon further inspection, there was no steam. I asked the employee to touch the broccoli to see how completely COLD it was. She wouldn't. I asked for, and got, a full refund. It's pretty bad if you can't serve HOT food without having to microwave it first. Never again. read more

The Napa Premium Outlets once had several restaurants- now they're down to three: Subway, Suppertime, and this one. It's a rather bleak dining area. Despite the fact the outlet mall was packed, the tables were mostly empty. The visitor information section no longer has an array of pamphlets&booklets.... but you can get a brochure for Robert Mondavi Winery in Chinese. Hunan China Express has good service.... and that's it. They give free samples, they're a smiling, friendly group. If only their food was as top notch as their service. The owners are incredibly nice. Sweet&Sour Fish- It is neither. Just bland, and with a fishy taste (maybe partially uncooked?) MaPo Tofu- It's labeled as spicy. While Hunan cuisine is famous for being spicier than Sichuan, thanks to vinegar and fermentation, this is spicy in name only. Sad! Fried Rice- Really odd, with a strangely sweet aftertaste. Gross. Though Hunan China Express is a short drive from my place, the food was already lukewarm/cold when I came home. While Hunan is renowned for its spice, Hunan China Express is blandness. The Mongolian beef tasted like it had been sitting for days and might have been reheated several times. The flavor in the sauce was funky and the texture of the beef was unappealing. The chicken in the chow mein looked white and plasticky. The fried rice was basically heavily salted instant rice with bits of bright yellow egg (fake?) and carrots. Low quality food with bad flavor that isn't fresh. Skip it. It won't satisfy a craving for Chinese Food. You're better off buying the frozen Chinese food at Trader Joe's, which is actually pretty good. read more

Not good. I ordered a "small amount" of rice w a spicy chicken dish. She filled about two thirds of the plate w rice and threw on a spoonful of the chicken. I asked for a bit more of the spicy chicken, and she started picking out chili peppers from a different dish. I explained that I meant wanted more of the original chicken dish, not chili peppers from a different dish, and she came back w, "I think you like the other one better" Yeah, ok. Umm. What was left (I came at 1:20 for lunch and they were completely out of most of the popular dishes) was heavy, greasy, and generally lacking in flavor. We are always looking for good Chinese food here in Napa. This is not it. The noodles was just spaghetti with nothing in it. Chow Mein should have veges and maybe chicken or pork in it. The dishes we got were so Salty that I got dizzy and had to lie down. We live near this restaurant and our policy is not to say bad things about Napa business' but this was not worth it.
