Small bugs in the Wonton Soup/

Small bugs in wonton soup due to not cleaning cabbage properly. I would advise not to eat here.

"Comfort Food When I Needed It Most" I wasn't feeling my best, and one of my best friends came through by ordering me a comforting delivery from Jade Garden. She knows my go-to when I'm feeling under the weather: wonton soup. While I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had, it definitely hit the spot when I needed something warm, simple, and soothing. The broth could've used a little more depth and flavor it leaned on the mild side but the inclusion of bok choy was a lovely surprise and gave it that wholesome, homey feel. It wasn't overly salty or heavy, which made it a perfect recovery meal. I also tried the chow mein, and while it wasn't life-changing, it was satisfying and solid. The kind of food that doesn't necessarily make your taste buds sing but feels like a warm hug when you need one. Would I crave it on a random Tuesday night? Maybe not. But if I'm ever feeling under the weather again and need something cozy and reliable, I'd absolutely order from Jade Garden again. Looking forward to trying more items from their menu when I'm back to full strength!

This Chinese food restaurant is tucked in with several other restaurants in the area next to hwy 29. It does not look like much from the outside, but it does have a nice clean interior. They definitely do a fair amount of to go business, but we decided to dine in. They do have a reasonably priced lunch menu, but they do have three family dinner choices, which can save you some money. We decided on the beef and broccoli, fried vegetable rice, and tofu dinners. The broccoli was definitely fresh and cooked al dente. Then it went downhill, the tofu was unpleasantly hard and rubbery which we left uneaten. We did point it out, but it was not removed from the bill. I love hot and sour soup, but theirs is not the best. The vegetable fried rice was just OK. I thought it was odd that they would just give you a fork without a knife and one small napkin. We asked for some chili sauce because it needed a little spice. Not the best, but not the worst Chinese I've ever had. Overall, for almost $50 for 2 with no drinks or tip, seems overpriced and not such a great value. Service was somewhat attentive. I personally would not visit this place again. Informative photos included.

Jade Garden is our new go-to spot for Chinese food in Napa. I love that they offer dim sum all day, except for between 2:30 and 4:30. We ordered the shrimp and crab dumplings, barbecue pork bun and the custard buns off of the dim sum menu. All were delicious! We also split a large wonton soup, barbecue pork fried rice and mushu shrimp. It was a lot of food and we had two days worth of leftovers, but it was great getting to try a variety of items. The wonton soup was honestly a surprise favorite. 10/10. The broth was flavorful without being too salty and the wontons were delicious! If I were coming here and ordering just for one meal (and no leftovers), I'd probably be full with just the soup and a few dim sum items. The pricing is also super reasonable.

I got a double fortune cookie!

As such, it was extremely noisy and you could see that couples on dates had a hard time even talking to one another, and eventually just stopped. I could barely hear my wife talking next to me. Most of the servers would even have to lean in to hear the orders. As for the food, nothing really stood out. We ordered a large variety as we were a group of 10 eating family style and nothing really stood out. The quality of the food I would say was akin to fast food or mall food court level, but you're paying 3 times as much. The price belied the food quality. For example, 3 small pieces of ribs as an appetizer for more than $30, I'd expect it to be uniquely spiced, flavorful and juicy, but it was rather dry and tasted as like sauce from Panda Express. Their Wagyu beef carpaccio had too many strong flavors so the taste of the beef itself was lost. Heck, it didn't even really have the notable creamy-like texture that wagyu was supposed to have either (likely a lower grade of wagyu, probably somewhere between USDA Choice and Prime). A lot of their items feel gimmicky too: the unagi clay pot came with some seaweed, a seaweed holder, and two small bottles of sauces. The sauces were bland and contributed nothing to the dish. Making your own "hand rolls" with the seaweed did nothing for this dish other than get your hands dirty. I've watched enough Iron Chef back in the day to understand that this is very Morimoto, as he tries to make the dishes fun. The unagi itself was quite nice, though it might be my personal bias. The Halibut we got was overcooked and dry. Yes halibut is a firmer meat, but man this was hard to eat. The best dish was likely the Ishiyaki Buri Bop, which came with some tables idea theatrics. Nevertheless, for the price, you could do much better at a place like Kunjip Tofu in the bay. Overall, a bad experience. Based on the price point, I thought we'd be getting better food and better ambience, but it was overall mediocre - a blemish on the Morimoto name.

Some mishaps have happened with service on prior visits but management and servers are always concerned and make it right. That's why I keep coming back. I Popped in Thursday afternoon for Pho. It was not busy only two other couples eating when we arrived. We sat at our usual table And noted service was a bit slow right off the bat. When I received my Pho, which I thought was a longer wait than usual, it was luke warm if that. The Korean ribs and chicken wings arrived temperature appropriate. I pushed my soup aside but no one checked back until my lunch mate finished. When the waiter came to clear the table I asked for a to go and thought he would ask if there was anything wrong. He did not so I told him the Pho was served luke warm so I did not eat it and that no one had checked back or even passed by us or I would have sent it back to heat it up. We were done now so I'd just take it to go. Our waiter apologized and when he brought the bill said The Pho was comped and apologized again for the breakdown in service. When I dine I like to relax and enjoy a meal With who I came with. So receiving temperature appropriate food is important. The KD does a good job. They have a diverse menu with flavorful food and great cocktails. When there is a hiccup in service or the food there is a genuine concern. Sometimes it's caught by them and others it's brought to their attention. It's how things are dealt with when those mishaps happen. The KD addresses your concerns with sincerity and want their diner to have an all around great experience. If you have not been give KD a try when in downtown Napa.
