I don't know what it used to be but I heard that it was a new place and since my ride wanted to try it out with his wife, I had no choice. Well, glad that they did because I truly enjoyed this visit! My friend's wife called ahead and said that we were coming and it was amazing because the host was just casually doing her job and then noticed us three and immediately began to get our table ready. Like literally, I watched her prepare our table by removing things and she knew it was us. The interior is nice and I love the walls that looked like hardwood floors. It's something where I hope my floors are like one day.
But yeah, enough about the floor wall stuff and let's get to the food. I tried some of the Drunken Noodles and I really liked the smokey flavor that it provided. It was pretty decent and although it wasn't that spicy, I would imagine one would be able to request it spicier. I asked the waiter if I should get the Pad Thai or the Basil Duck and he, without hesitation, recommended the duck and so I tried it out. It was amazing! Now, for those of you health conscious people (as much as you can be when eating duck), there was a good portion of green beans and broccoli. Enough to be filling and it's actually a really good cup to cup and a half of veggies. Oh, and the duck was great! You got the crispiness of the duck (fried so it balances out with the veggies?) with the tenderness of the meat and it just was really good! The sauce was really good and the only criticism was that it was salty because it was all at the bottom of the plate. I would recommend paying more attention and mopping up that sauce with your veggies because who cares about nutritional value! ;P
While they offered us dessert and we passed, the brought the fried banana dessert on the house. It was rice paper wrapped in a banana and fried. It wasn't too greasy or heavy and it was a very light fry. They also drizzle it with honey and while you think it would be overly sweet, it truly wasn't! The crunch from the fried rice paper paired well with the lightly sweet but hot and gooey banana. The honey made the dessert a bit sweeter but again, not enough to make it too sweet. Some may want more sweetness because I am sensitive to sweetness but I definitely enjoyed it.
I would come back again and it's a shame I don't live closer to Centreville/Chantilly area because I would come here more often. I can't wait to my next visit because I want to try some of their curry and Pad Thai. The wait staff is super attentive and really nice and polite and were ready to help us if we needed anything. read more
