No wok flavor in fried rice, pad see ew, or pad kee mao. Pad krapao is inauthentic American style that is watery, no options for kai dao. Moo ping wasn't great and tasted like it was over marinated. I went there yesterday with my husband. This place is reopening with a different name "Surreal Thai". It was a Saturday night and there was a soft opening with 20% discount so the place was packed. Regardless, we were seated immediately when we arrived around 6:40 pm. The ambiance is nice with unique overhead lighting. It's a cosy place. The menu has staple offerings such as noodles, rice and curries like you would expect a Thai restaurant. I ordered the chef special Khao Soi which was a chicken leg stew in a curry with egg noodle. I also ordered Eggplant delight with tofu. For appetizer we ordered grilled squid. The squid was very rubbery and smelled not fresh. The curry was good but the whole chicken leg was a bit tough and there's no knife to cut it. The most disappointing was the eggplant delight. Couldn't see the egg plant and it was cut too small and way too overcooked, not to mention it was covered in a soup like sauce. Taste wise it was ok. Both my husband and I had diarrhea within 8 hours. Not going back. read more

Apparently, Thai Kitchen was bought by the woman who owns/runs Surreal Global Kitchen in Arlington, VA. Now operating as Surreal Thai Kitchen and Bar (as of 3 April 2026), a friend and I just had lunch there. Wow!!! That is the best Thai food I've ever eaten! This place is a real find! The restaurant is currently doing a soft opening. While it has minimal staffing, there are almost no customers. Located in a shopping plaza, this location has plenty of parking and indoor seating. Food: I ordered the chicken panang curry and drunken noodles with beef. The panang curry was very flavorful and more on the coconut side which I liked. It was paired with broccoli and of course chicken. Interesting enough, there was bits of I believe peanuts inside this dish which was the first time I've seen it like this -- this didn't bother me much and thought it added an uniqueness to the dish. The dunked beef has great flavor but the some of the veggies were not cooked all the way which was a little disappointing. This dish had more packed veggies and less of the middles than other drunken noodles I've gotten where it was more noodles and less on the veggies. The beef was great in this dish! It was a disappointing experience for last nights take out. We ordered the pad see ew, asked if they can add additional noodles, they said they weren't able to do so. Most Thai places are able to do so, so not sure why they can't do the same as their competitors. The portion size was very disappointing for the price. We also ordered the Panang curry; this was good, but the amount of rice was half the size of a normal portion restaurants would offer. Had to add our own cooked rice... The lunch special seafood pad Thai was made to Order with light pad Thai sauce but it only came with 1 shrimp and 2 out of the 3 squids were huge and could've been sliced thinner and the one scallop was overcooked and rubbery. The lunch special pineapple chicken fried rice was tasty but not seasoned well. The "meats" were just about right, but too light on the fixings (i.e. - eggs, tofu, bean sprouts, etc.) Sweet, but not too sweet, and perhaps not enough sourness (a squirt of lemon or lime at home really made it perfect though). Thai-style Fried Rice Good! Wanted to order the basil fried rice but that had three pepper icons next to it on the menu. Good amount of beef included. Penang Curry Good for those with a sweet tooth. I went to Thai Kitchen, during the endless tain event we had over the weekend. Many roads were blocked from flooding. People Ina ditch from water pools in the road. I was glad to have arrived safely. The moment I opened the door the Host/Waiter immediately greeted me with a welcoming smile. He led to to a seat, and handed me a menu with glass of water. I took a couple min to look around. It was nice inside. Small but a little cozy. Nice lighting. I enjoyed seeing a couple people dining in! Nice! Makes the place feel better, you know? I ordered the Green Curry with chicken. First bite was eye opening. 5th bite a had a couple tears rolling down my cheek. Nose running and all. It was delicious! I'm a bit of a weeny with spicy foods, so just because my senses reacted like this, doesn't mean it's super spicy, but it was the most spicy Green Curry I've had. So there's that. A lot has changed since my last review. Apparently ownership has changed hands, and that means new chefs as well? The food has taken a turn for the worse. Massaman Curry - Disgustingly sugary sweet, almost inedible. Some of the beef was gristle. I should have returned it. Not to self, make sure you order without added sugar. Pineapple fried rice - Way too much curry powder and rice didn't seem fresh or else they use really cheap rice. Chicken Ka Praw - Very tasty, nice level of spice. I was excited to have some Thai food. I brought my family here after seeing the great reviews online, but I was left disappointed. I'm not sure if this place used to be better a few years ago and maybe management/chef has changed, but none of us enjoyed our food or thought it was anything exceptional. The restaurant was pretty empty considering it was a weekend at lunchtime, although more people started to come in a little later. It's a large restaurant with a lot of seating and decor. The service was okay. Initially, when we were one of the two parties in the restaurant, they were pretty attentive. By the end when there were a few more parties, we had to repeatedly ask for water refills or spicy condiments. Now on to the food. I think it was pretty mediocre. I got the vegetarian drunken noodles and they were a little sweeter than I'm used to. My dad got the Pad Cha Tilapia which was also nothing special. It was like fish and chips with the deep fried fish (not sure if this is traditional Thai cuisine) and even the accompanying red, spicy sauce came on the side and was unexpectedly peanut-y. read more

If I could give it 0 stars, I would. Right off the bat, their advertising states if you order from their specific website and over $35, you get a free order of spring rolls. My order was nearly $70....guess what, no spring rolls. 2nd, I ordered drunken noodles with mixed seafood....I received a whole bunch of noodles, 2 medium sized shrimp, 2 scallops and 9 rings of calamari, all of which could qualify as ​Goodyear tire pieces.... sooooo overcooked. 3rd, Flavor was weak and bland, not even close to the spice level I've had at other local Thai places. My daughter in law is from Thailand, so when we are looking for delicious authentic Thai food, she is the best judge. This review is for take out food from the restaurant for my sons birthday. We started off with the chicken satay. It is soaked in a curry marinade before cooking. The chicken was tender, tasty and served with a delicious peanut sauce. My son's favorite dish was the basil eggplant dish. It was delicious! The eggplant was fragrant and sautéed with some scrumptious veggies. It had a little kick, but not spicy. I loved the vegetable spring rolls. They had a yummy sweet sauce that enhanced the flavor. We also enjoyed the shrimp pad Thai. It was so good, that I had to go back for seconds. Then, there was the chicken with cashews. There were lots of veggies and a fabulous sauce. Lastly, the Thai fried rice. It was excellent. We were all stuffed to the gills. Having not been to the shopping center before, I stopped by to grab something and noticed Thai kitchen, after craving a Thai tea all morning. I placed my order and it was ready right away! I had to finish shopping and it took me longer than I thought to get over to their restaurant. When I got there, my drink was ready, but the super kind gentleman working had waited to put the ice in it until I got there, which was so thoughtful and really appreciated. Pre-pandemic, I really enjoyed this restaurant for a good lunch special. It was quick, tasty and a fair price. Due to the pandemic, the restaurant is currently available for take out only. I ordered a papaya salad and tofu kee maw (drunken noodle) along with a Thai iced tea. Each item was mediocre. The papaya salad lacked spice and acid. The noodles in the kee maw glommed together and the flavor was lacking (maybe if i had fish sauce and chili peppers, it could have improved) and the Thai iced tea was mostly ice.
