Spicy basil fried rice and pad see-ew ($15'ish)

Got the spicy basil stored fried rice ($16?). It ended up being 2 meals for me. I love this place and for the portion you get and incredibly quick service I would absolutely come back and highly recommend it!

Thai Chef Casual Cuisine is one of the few Thai restaurants along the North Road corridor between Burnaby and Coquitlam. That probably partly explains why this place was so busy when I visited for lunch on a weekday. The other reason is probably the value of their lunch specials. I have a fondness for green curry so I stuck with an order of Green Curry Chicken ($10 for the lunch special) which comes with rice, green salad, and a spring roll. The spring roll was fried up with a nice crispness to the wrapper and had a hot, tightly wrapped filling inside. The curry was actually pretty good with a nice creaminess from the coconut milk and a moderate heat from the green curry paste that gradually builds over time. In addition to the chicken, the curry had slices of eggplant, yellow and red peppers, and basil. This stuff goes perfect with a bowl of rice to sop it up with. Like the crisp spring roll, the seating here is fairly tightly packed and service seemed rushed (but that's to be expected with how busy they were). I returned a couple of weeks later and found that it wasn't as busy (but service was just as curt). This time, I picked the Red Curry Beef ($10 lunch special). Since it wasn't as busy, the food came out rather quick and it was both pleasing and filling. The red curry was creamy but not overly spicy and there was a plentiful amount of bamboo shoots that accompanied the strips of beef, bell peppers, and basil. On a subsequent visit, I tried their Pad Thai with Chicken. Again, another solid offering... the noodles have a nice, subtle tang and were pleasantly toothsome. The dish was a good portion size for lunch and came with bean sprouts, firm tofu, egg, and green onions. If you're looking for something a bit different than your usual curry item, you might try their Spicy Basil Beef ($11). Like all of their other lunch specials, this comes out really quick. There's a nice amount of heat from the chili peppers in this dish. I'm not usually a big fan of yellow curry... guess I'm too used to the typical Chinese yellow curry which tends to be on the flavourless side. I figured I might as well try it here since it was on the lunch menu. The Yellow Curry Chicken ($11) here had a pleasantly moderate level of spiciness in the curry sauce. It's a fairly simple take on yellow curry with just onions, large chunks of potatoes, and topped with fried shallots. As with their other curry dishes, you'll find yourself sopping up all of that curry sauce with your rice. After a number of visits here, the thing to know about this place is that there's not many surprises... each visit was pretty much exactly like the previous visit - very utilitarian (which can put some people off if they're looking for more service). Overall, the food's pretty good for the value.

Ok please excuse the drawn line in the middle of the picture. It was ment to show to my trainer that I am having a cheat meal BUT it's all about portion control right ‍ I obviously ate the veggie and protein portion not the carbs Ok like you have to come here!!! Small little place but food is so orgasmic. I usually over order but I didn't l. Yum yum!!! Are you looking for yummy home made Thai food? Well, this is your place!. This little location opened its doors about 6 months ago. The girls here are suuuper nice and they always want you to feel welcomed and happy. Their menu has lots of options! I have been here 3 times in one month and I just can't get enough of their green curry chicken! (My mouth waters just remembering the flavours): Yummy, creamy, rich, spicy, coconutty, delicious!!!. Their portions are good and prices are reasonable. Thai Chef is a great option in the area. The first time I went there, they gave me a 15% off coupon for my next visit and they also take the Foodie Card (bonus! 2x1 on everything!). They also have lunch specials for $9. I recommend this place, it is clean and they make you feel at home. It is not a fancy restaurant but it is definitely worth a visit (or many!).

Rice, tom kha ga soup (small), crispy wontons, peanut sauce with spinach and tofu = around $25? Good deal

Got take out on a rainy night this week. Pleasantly surprised by how much I loved everything! Good portions, great flavors, service with a smile and good prices! The small dining area was almost full when I went and they had a bunch of take-out orders getting pumped out if the kitchen. Think I found my new favorite Thai place in Coquitlam!

    Group deal: 1. Spring rolls
    Lo A.

Food was good. Fairly priced. The location was fairly cold. I felt like I wanted to eat with my jacket on. I went with a group and we got the group 10 set. So we got to try quite a few dishes. The spring rolls were so crispy fresh. Awesome! The chicken skewers were so soft. Just perfect. The yellow chicken curry was yum! The pad thai was a little disappointing cause it was fairly sweet. And I was so excited for dessert but was utterly disappointed. They gave us 2 small dishes for 10 people!!! Not proportioned right. Everyone got a tiny bite. I wouldn't even consider it desert. So for my 2 main issues I give them 3 stars. But overall it was a good restaurant. The staff very friendly.

Lunch special was only $10 and it came with a spring roll and salad. The price was good, service was friendly.

Red curry with beef a love the bamboo shoots!

Tom yum fried rice was their special and we gave it a try. It comes with some seafood with shrimps, and squid. The flavor and spices in this fried rice is out of this world. Massaman Kai: the chicken was fall off the bone tender. And the curry was very well seasoned. Even if I just have the curry sauce with plain rice it would be heaven. Mango sticky rice. Can't go wrong with this. But they added something crispy on top and elevated this dish even more. Will definitely come back. In fact my mouth is watering now so I need to come back here asap.

Big chunks of chicken and shrimp. T yum flavor really shone through. It's one of their specials so it might be limited time, I'm not sure. Massaman Kai 4.5/5. Chicken was tender, fall off the bone. Sauce was delicious and creamy. However, there were a few pieces of potato that wasn't completely cooked through, but some were perfectly fine so that was only a small miss for us. We only had a little bit leftover but still had to pack it home so none of it would go to waste. Mango sticky rice 5/5 not on their menu but so happy they had it this day. Delicious and the perfect way to end such a wonderful meal. Lots of mango, rice was wonderfully cooked and still warm. 100% coming back again!

The restaurant is located on a busy street and is unassuming/easy to miss so I'm glad my boyfriend pointed it out for us to try with some friends. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share. They all arrived relatively quickly and my favourites were the pad thai and the khao soi. The pad thai was fragrant and on the sweeter side which I like. I also liked the fresh raw bean sprouts on the side. The khao soi was curry noodles with tender beef and crispy egg noodles. The curry was very flavourful with a hint of heat and sweetness. This was also my first time trying curry noodles at a Thai restaurant. The green curry was filled with bamboo shoots, peppers, and a good amount of chicken. The flavour from the bamboo shoots really comes through as well. For the crab fried rice, it came with a spicy sauce and pickled vegetables. We've tried tofu (with egg), shrimp (plus $3) and chicken. They don't scrimp on the shrimp so the additional price isn't bad plus the serving size is quite big.
