    Green Curry Chicken
    PennyandRusty P.

Recently, a new take-out restaurant opened on Kingsway called Twinkle Thai (in the former location of First Choice Chinese). This new Thai restaurant is the brain child of the former owners of Sticky Rice Thai & Asian Cuisine in Surrey. While Sticky Rice Thai was a full-scale sit-down restaurant, the owners decided to scale things back and just focus on take-out now. That being said, there is a small bar-like area by the entrance with 6 side-by-side seats to accommodate individuals that just want to eat their food on-site. On my first visit, I ordered their Green Curry Chicken with Rice lunch special ($13.95). The curry was quite good (they make their own sauces) and had crunchy red and green peppers, large chunks of tender eggplant and chicken, as well as basil. There's just a hint of medium spice level here that's not overwhelming. On my next visit, I tried their Pad Thai ($11.95) with chicken, tofu, carrots, sprouts, egg, and onions with a mild sauce. The rice noodles that they use here are of the thinner variety but are nice and toothsome. At the end of November, I ordered their Red Curry Chicken lunch special ($14.95) which comes with a hot and spicy sauce, big cut pieces of tender chicken, bamboo shoots, basil, and peppers. Unfortunately, they decided to stop serving lunch and just focus on take-out during dinnertime.

Pineapple fried rice, pad Thai, green papaya salad.

Food was ok, nothing special. Tasted more like Thai and Chinese fusion. Spring roll was cold. The price was expensive for this type of food at a only take out place.

As the…read moresister restaurant to Maenam, you can really taste that same attention to balance, depth, and quality in every dish. My partner and I are regulars here. Some of our go-to favourites: green curry, pad see ew, gai lan with pork belly, and the Thai fried rice with grilled pork. The flavours are super consistent every single visit, which honestly is half the battle with takeout spots. Their rotating specials are also worth watching for m, and are always fun when there's something new in the mix. (my pictures don't do justice) It's definitely a bit pricier than your average quick Thai spot... however, the ingredients taste fresh and the portions are satisfying. Love the little thoughtful touches too: self-serve water station, compostable containers and cutlery, and an easy casual setup that works perfectly for a Quay lunch or dinner. I'm giving it a 4-star because the place closes at 6pm Mon-Thu and at 7pm on all other days. I always feel like I need to rush or have early dinner if I wanted to grab food from here. All in all, this is a solid Thai food option in New West. Basically, if Thai street food and elevated comfort food had a waterfront glow-up, this would be it!

Although it is a bit hard to find (it is tucked inside the food court of the River Market), it is getting busy through word of mouth. Since it is part of the food court, you order your food at the counter and then find a table to sit at. They will usually bring out the food to you when it is ready. When we go, we usually order their deep fried chicken wings and fish balls to go with a tofu pad thai. Nothing beats their fresh off the wok pad thai!

The inside is very small (only 3-4 tables) but very clean. Looks like they have one table outside if you're interested. The chef and host were super friendly. Food came out lightning quick and was very fresh. I had the spicy combo and it was the right mix of spice - not so spicy you face melts but just enough. Serving sizes are pretty generous and good value. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area. It's a bit to miss sushi joint.

It's away from the shopping area. It's in the residential area on Ewen where Queens hotel is. Free parking along the street. I have been here a few times. It's Korean Japanese food. Besides sushi, you can also get tteokbokki and Korean fried chicken. I also spied wonton soup on the menu, the only Chinese dish. I have tried the lunch bento which is pretty good. My favorite is the double spicy tuna roll. Their futomaki roll is more like the house roll at other sushi places. Lots of ingredients in it, including tuna and salmon. If you live in the QB area, this is the nearest place to get your Japanese food fix. Otherwise it's either driving into Richmond or crossing the bridge to New West downtown.
