    Green Curry Chicken
    PennyandRusty P.

Recently, a new take-out restaurant opened on Kingsway called Twinkle Thai (in the former location of First Choice Chinese). This new Thai restaurant is the brain child of the former owners of Sticky Rice Thai & Asian Cuisine in Surrey. While Sticky Rice Thai was a full-scale sit-down restaurant, the owners decided to scale things back and just focus on take-out now. That being said, there is a small bar-like area by the entrance with 6 side-by-side seats to accommodate individuals that just want to eat their food on-site. On my first visit, I ordered their Green Curry Chicken with Rice lunch special ($13.95). The curry was quite good (they make their own sauces) and had crunchy red and green peppers, large chunks of tender eggplant and chicken, as well as basil. There's just a hint of medium spice level here that's not overwhelming. On my next visit, I tried their Pad Thai ($11.95) with chicken, tofu, carrots, sprouts, egg, and onions with a mild sauce. The rice noodles that they use here are of the thinner variety but are nice and toothsome. At the end of November, I ordered their Red Curry Chicken lunch special ($14.95) which comes with a hot and spicy sauce, big cut pieces of tender chicken, bamboo shoots, basil, and peppers. Unfortunately, they decided to stop serving lunch and just focus on take-out during dinnertime.

Pineapple fried rice, pad Thai, green papaya salad.

Food was ok, nothing special. Tasted more like Thai and Chinese fusion. Spring roll was cold. The price was expensive for this type of food at a only take out place.

One dining companion was Vegan and Gluten Free which can be a challenge at any restaurant but our server kept up with the multiple modifications and special requests and did it all pleasantly and with kindness the entire time which is a testament to the service standard at Siam Le Bien. All dishes we had were delicious and well spiced per our individual requests. We enjoyed Crispy Spring Rolls, Drunken Noodles, Paad Si Ew, Vegan GF Pineapple Fried Rice "add tofu, no onions no bell peppers, curry powder on the side", and a Thai Spice 8* Tom Yum Prawn Soup that we who dared try it, enjoyed immensely. Prices were fair, quality was exceptional & service was outstanding. Cannot wait to return and Merci Siam Le Bien!

(4.5/5) Was craving Thai food and finally tried this amazing restaurant on Hastings. We came in on…read morea Saturday evening and were sat immediately with no reso (yay!). The server was really nice and introduced the specials to us. Our group of 4 decided to share a variety of dishes and overall, everything was amazing. For appetizers, we selected the magic noodle salad and chicken satay skewers. The salad was indeed magic...when pouring the spicy and sweet sauce over the noodles, they changed colours from blue to purple. This was a very entertaining touch, although I'm not sure how attracted I was to eating the blue noodles. If you enjoy novelty and a sweet/sour salad dressing, this dish can be for you. The skewers were well seasoned and the dipping sauces were delicious - especially the cucumber one. Onto the mains - my goodness everything was so good! While the tom yum and drunken noodles tasted exactly as advertised, I was quite impressed with the crispy pork and duck curry. The pork was crispy and was an aromatic dance of flavours. It paired well with string beans and the fragrance of the fried basil. I did not believe that lychee and curry could go together, but the duck curry proved otherwise. It was intriguing to have something sweet and fruity pair so well with the red curry. The duck meat was also tender and well cooked. Overall, all the flavours of sweet, sour, and spicy satisfied us deeply and definitely put us into a partial food coma afterwards. After sharing everything, the cost was around $45-50 per person, and we had leftovers from the curry. My only comment is that medium spice felt more like mild for us so definitely choose hot if you enjoy spicy food. I would love to come back to try other items on their menu!

Bite after bite, I could not find the zest of flavors that's distinctive of Thai food. It lacks the tamarind, lime, chili and fish sauce in every dish. Very disappointed! *Garlic Wings: tasted so plain, barely marinated *Crispy Fish with Tamarind Sauce: very crispy breading, sauce was too sweet no trace of tanginess *Tom Kha Soup: not spicy, not tangy *Pineapple Fried Rice: very plain *Pad Thai: we chose beef for protein. Beef was not velvety tender although the redeeming factor of this dish is the very al dente noodles *Pad Pak: tasted like any Asian mixed veggies *Durian Sticky Rice: tasted more salty than sweet, the saltiness failed to bring out the sweetness of the durian *Mango Sticky Rice: this dish failed as the three ingredients didn't blend its flavors together.

Restaurant has a very nice ambiance with warm colour tone. The food is very good, we had red curry with pork that comes with a plate of rice. The curry was very good & rich in coconut milk. Lots of pork slices with bell peppers & bamboo shoots. It was total YUM! We had Pad Thai (shrimp) & Pad See Ew (chicken). Great "wok hei" on the noodles, great flavour, I requested for cut fresh chili with fish sauce for the Pad See Ew... it was freshly cut bird eye chili that packed a punch in your taste buds. My friend had stir fry eggplant with chicken, she requested for minimal sauce in her stir fry & they delivered it, she was very pleased & satisfied with her stir fry dish. Service was good, water gets refilled constantly They also have a small convenience stall that carries some Thai products. Great food to be had by all. Go check it out, totally worthwhile!

After that, we ordered from them again many, many times through the Fantuan app. The menu is simple. Basically rice and noodles, just as the name of the shop implies. They cook their food soooo well though! There's a deep "wok hei" flavor to their rice and noodles. They do also have a few other side dishes like gyoza and spring rolls which you can order, but basically we go to this place for the rice and noodles. This was the first time we actually dined in the restaurant instead of getting takeout. Highly recommend dining in! So good to eat the food fresh and hot. It's a great place to stop for a quicky, filling and tasty meal. You choose your base, then your protein, and then your level of spice. Pay at the counter, then sit down and they will bring the food out to you when it's ready. In our group we ordered some gyoza, chow mein, pad thai noodles and pad see ew noodles. I must have been hungrier than I realized, or else the food just tasted soooo good that I ended up eating my entire plate of noodles, when I really only needed about half the plate. This place is a "must try"!.
