Conveniently located close to Coquitlam Mall, I came here for dinner out of curiosity and it didn't disappoint. Portions were generous and very satisfying. I ordered the pad thai, chada fried rice, mango sticky rice (just in time while mango was still in season), and coconut ice cream. Everything was delicious, but the standout for me was the chili flakes--made in-house using hand-picked, authentic Thai chilies. The coconut ice cream was also amazing and freshly made. I love coming here for lunch with my mom because it is in the neighbourhood and something that I am always craving! They have a great lunch special where you also get coleslaw and little fried wonton with your main dish. If you are looking for a bigger portion, you can also get the regular size and get the rest to take home. The staff are so kind and the seating is intimate. The server was rude and gave a lot of attitude when we asked for extra napkins. (we each only had 1) The summer rolls were filled with sooo much lettuce, and were extremely messy. I was craving Thai and this spot was great! My fave dish was the red curry (chicken) - I loved the flavor! And it was mild and enjoyable for me. The spice level is determined by you! Also ordered the pad Thai and it was great. We got it with tofu and tofu was crispy. Last dish we ordered was garlic pepper sauce tofu. You get to choose what you want for protein, but I just wanted tofu. The dish was okay, sauce was good but I think better to get shrimp or another protein. Service was fast and they checked up on us a few times. Food was on the table within 15 minutes. The space has Asian/Thai decor and I think it's a great spot for big groups too. Stopped by Chada Thai over the weekend. It was my first time there. Generally I love Thai food and this place did good. The food was spot on and very delicious! The service was wonderful. Can't really complain. I found the portion to be pretty decent. We had a bunch of left over to take home which was great. And one of my wife's favourite dish is Pad Thai. There's not a lot of options for Thai food in the area then I found this little gem. Good thing we came soon after they opened. This place is small and a lot of the tables were marked reserved and they only had one table for 4 that's not. They're also pretty busy for takeouts. The Pad Thai and Pa-Nang Curry were really good. The spice level we picked for both dishes is medium. Flavourful, tasty, satisfying. Had a good kick. We highly recommend these dishes. The Pad See Iew is quite tasty as well. A good level of soy sauce flavour, not too strong. We have not found a Pad See Iew that our kids liked until tonight. Our kids really liked this dish. We will definitely come back to Chada Thai if we're ever around the area. read more

I've had food court, mediocre and authentic thai food. This is better than food court, but not as good as authentic thai food! Although this place is given 4 stars on yelp and has won an award in 2014, i give this place 3 stars. Menu is not as extensive but has your staple foods such as pad thai, skewers and curry. However, its a bit overrated and in comparison to Vancouver thai food, (especially when its rates the best in Poco), it deserves a 4. All your curry/main dishes come with rice, an is entree style. Convenient but i wanted family style servings. Ie: order a bucket of rice and get a full size curry dish. Therefore, portions are small for the price they charge. Ie, curry chicken $18 Service was good, the main man tried really hard but ended up dipping his finger in my sauce to taste it? Nice guy, i wont hold it against him but was a bit weird. Came here after doing the Coquitlam Crunch and walk around Glen Park, I decided to go have a quick lunch. It wasn't as busy as I thought it would be so was able to get a seat pretty quickly. The food was okay, I've had better thai food. Had the beef curry. It lacked some flavor and the beef was a little tougher than expected. Not sure if it was a new batch and it hasn't simmered enough to blend in the flavor more. Maybe next time, I'll try a different dish. The service is a little slow and not as friendly. It took a little while to get my food and my water wasn't topped up as quickly, I had to ask a couple of times to top up the water. It could be that I had another drink but I like to have water too so it would be nice to have the glass of water topped up every so often. The lunch menu is simple - one page - all $10 and all served with the soup, rice and crispy wraps (delish!) My chicken basil was fabulous. I devoured the entire bamboo-basily thing! They don't offer take-out at dinnertime, but it's fair game at lunch. Food was fine. It's in a strip mall but trying to be upscale. Service was okay. We were mostly bothered by the floor manager who seemed stressed and kept checking in with us on whether 2 people in our party were coming. They arrived within 5 minutes of our being seated but we were asked three times about their whereabouts and the restaurant was only half occupied. They have a good set lunch menu but no appetizers which we thought was strange. Also the soup that comes with the lunch set tastes like sweetened bland warm water and and was brought out after we had finished our meals. Definitely not the best in the tricities. Ordered a large take out order and it was all well packed and labelled which was appreciated. The pad Thai was just not up to par for me. Too dry and too much fish sauce. Said it has a tamarind base but I could not taste any. Prawns were good. Container though was 1/3 shredded cabbage so although it looked like a large portion it was not. The pad Thai also did not seem to excite those in the group who had never had pad thaI before so that was a fail. Curries were fine as was the rice. We ordered coconut rice and got regular. Cashew chicken had just way too much green pepper and few other veg. all in all it's basically mall food court level so if you are hungry and have to go there it will be fine. It's really a 3.5. I rounded up to 4 as it's better than most Thai places in coquitlam/port moody area. Chicken satay was good. Curries were over pretty tasty and comes with rice. Enjoyed the green Thai curry the most. The beef massassu Ok, so we ordered again recently and now I'm going to have to scale it back to 3. The prawn pad Thai was bad bad bad. Super fishy, couldn't eat it. It had a bad small, the moment we opened the container. We still tried it but couldn't get pass the smell. The curry and the chicken satay were still good. The best Thai food I've ever had. This place will seem a little strange at first because of its location. Across from a Taco Bell? Huh? But let me assure you... It is amazing, authentic Thai food. Creamy and Rich sauce unlike most Thai restaurants I've been to where the sauce is watery. Their summer rolls are incredible as well! The pad thai is good which is what my wife orders and she loves it but I usually get the green curry or the red. Both have so much flavor it's incredible! Although the restaurant has changed over several owners, they seem to consistently keep the food and atmosphere fantastic! Customer service is also very good. The most authentic Thai food in the TriCities maybe even the Lower Mainland. So delicious! We now come here once a week just to satisfy our Tom Kha Kai which we are seriously addicted. Their Panang Chicken is also amazing. The peppers and onions in the sauce are roasted and caramelized and the Panang sauce is creamy and full of of flavour without being heavy. Prices are very, very reasonable for the quality of food. This is a small, family run restaurant with friendly service. A menu is a basic part of any dining experience - It should be a given. After 5 minutes waiting at the table with no menu we walked out. Terrible attention in service. Side note for another party that arrived right after we did: They asked the server/host that they called in earlier for a table for 5, but apparently when they arrived, the restaurant had told them they only heard 4 and will not be able to make room for 5. Took my parents out to Chada Thai in Pinetree Village in Coquitlam. We went because of its reputation and good reviews. They have proven us right. The food was a decent portion unlike many other Thai restaurants in the area and it was very tasty and spicy as expected. We felt we got the value. We ordered 3 dishes for 3 people and had too much left over. The decor is nice and upscale-ish. It is cozy and small. The servers were very attentive. The cost was reasonable. I am insanely picky about Thai food. I've traveled around Thailand and even taken traditional cooking lessons there! That being said, I really love the food at Chada Thai. I used to find any excuse to share the restaurant with friends- it's the kind of food that begs you to have more dinner-as your desert! yum yum yum..... The happy story took a turn, however, after a visit with my fiance. The service was great, and he absolutely loved the food as much as I did. We each wished we could stay there, enjoying the flavors all night although as soon as we got to the car, he started to itch and broke out in hives over the blood vessels on the inside of his wrists. We both know this is how he reacts to exposure to MSG because his parents cook with it sometimes and will admit to it after he has a reaction. :( We were both very disappointed because we want so badly to keep eating there but don't want to have to ask about MSG or wonder if he's going to leave with hives again. Even writing about it makes me feel sad...I'm so in love with the food! :( read more

The green curry was excellent! I probably won't order the stuffed chicken wings again. Same with the fish cakes. They were good but I prefer the bold flavours of Thai food and these starters are more subtle. The restaurant was clean. We went on a week day for dinner and didn't have to wait for a seat. My Pad Kee-Mow was fantastic but my biggest problem with this place is that they charge the same price for tofu as they do prawn. That is crazy!! Everywhere else, tofu and veggie dishes are always cheaper. A lot of people choose veg options for ethical, environmental and health reasons. Charging them extra is like punishing them for that choice when it's the most sustainable choice of all. When you give it the same price as prawn (the worst of all meats), you are sending the wrong message. Until they change this pricing policy, I can't go back or even recommend this to anyone. read more

Great thai food, In fact I would rate this as one of the best thai restaurants in the lower mainland. The dishes are well thought out, tasty and the ingredients are always fresh. The service is good and they pay attention to the little details (cucumber water for example). The restaurant itself is small and cozy so it can be busy at times but it's a nice atmosphere. Why 4 stars instead of 5? It's a tad on the pricey side but don't that deter you, just know that going in. On a sad note, the genius behind this place, Brian Marchesi, passed away last year. I only can hope that his vision remains in tact and they are able to honour his legacy by continuing to serve fresh quality products. read more

This one has won my heart. When I crave Thai, I'm off to Chada Thai. Note that this restaurant does get busy on the weekends as it is small and highly recommend making a reservation. We hadn't been there for a couple of years and were expecting a repeat of the great food and service. For my drink I ordered Perrier on ice, which turned out to be the best tasting thing on the menu! There were eight of us, including two kids and the consensus was unanimous - the food SUCKED...big time. Thai food in Vancouver pretty much matches the infamous temperamental weather. I have yet to find a consistently good quality Thai place in the GVRD. This place was packed when we arrived and I believe the culprit may have been the G-word. Dear Groupon. I think the 1500 sold may be stressing this place out a bit. The staff sure showed it. Service was a little spotty as she forgot to enter an order and was not very attentive. Turns out the Summer Rolls aren't fried but are just salad rolls which I never like. Flavour only came from the satay sauce. Pad Thai was OK. Chicken with black pepper sauce and veggies was OK as well. Prices are the highest I've seen for Thai food, so value isn't great. However, the three of us were pretty full sharing the three dishes. Not that I didn't top up with chicken nuggets after dinner at The One. Would I drive 1hr to get here again. Me say no. read more

Who knew Coquitlam would have such a GEM!!! I came here for dinner one night with the Mr a couple months ago and I couldn't believe at how great this little place is! I was super impressed by the service and food...hard to have both nowadays don't you think?! LOL Anyways, I don't know if we were lucky..but we managed to get the last 2 seater in the resto on a Friday night. From the outside I knew it looked small..but until you walk in there...small is turned into SUPER small. I think the resto can only seat about..20~ people so if you're planning on coming here with a group..MAKE RESERVATIONS! HOwever, I liked the coziness and the decor made me feel...really calm if that makes any sense. Maybe it was the yellow walls..or the perfect amount of lighting..I don't know. For food: we ordered a green chicken curry, fish cakes, and pad thai. I noticed someone mentioned about the price being a little steep---that I can agree to, very comparable to restos I frequently eat at in YT. I don't mind paying a bit more if the quality/taste is there + the portions are VERY generous. Worth it. I've been to Thailand before, as well as dined at authentic thai places over the world so I feel I have a good background on what thai food should taste like..and this was spot on!! The green chicken curry (my must have at any thai resto) was delish and had the right amount of spice. Pad thai, now some places I find can make it OVERLY sweet...but Chada Thai has a nice balance between sweet/salty. The 2 tastes never overbear one another which is great. Fishcakes were good...but I think this was the only thing I was a little meh on. Didn't super excite me but they weren't terrible either. Service. Grade A. Waiters/Hosts were constantly checking up on us to refill waters and get whatever we needed. And by constantly, I don't mean every second but enough to never have us be the first to request something and they aren't overly pushy. The manager is always walking around to make sure the resto is running smoothly and will ask for feedback at the end of each meal. I normally do not venture outside of my bubble where I know I can count on good eats but I found myself beyond my comfort zone, lost in a jungle of plazas and strip malls in suburbia world. It was dizzying and I was slightly terrified when I felt my stomach grumble. I was hungry and the food snob in me did not want to succumb to court food fare or some mediocre chain restaurant. Fortunately, my companions were familiar with these parts and told me to shut up and fear not. They led me to Chada Thai which I quickly did a search on Yelp and sure enough it had gleaming reviews. I nodded approvingly and breathed a sigh of relief. My companions and I decided to order the basics which is what I normally do when trying out new restaurants. If the tried and true are executed well then I figure that's a solid springboard for other dishes on the menu. First off, the presentation was quite fancy schmancy for a thai restaurant! Mounds of bowl-shaped rice with sauce drizzlage, a salad and garnishes accompanied each dish. If that's not fancy, I'm not quite sure what is. The service was excellent. We were asked right off the bat if there were any allergies, given some recommendations and had our glasses refilled with cucumber infused water continuously. The green curry was really flavourful and chock-full of eggplant and vegetables. On too many occasions have I fished out only a couple pitiful pieces of eggplant, so this was a pleasant surprise. The pad thai was also very well done with the right amount of tamarind sauce and topped with lots of chicken. Tom yum soup was done right as well and hit the spot. The downside is the price point. I could get the same quality (minus the bowl-shaped pile of rice) of thai food elsewhere for cheaper but considering the service, ambiance and attention to detail, it was worth it.
