They are very generous with the tofu and quite a few pieces of shrimp. Would definitely get this too Khao gra Pao Kai Dao (lunch special) comes with chicken wonton and soup. It was a bit too salty for me. Wish the Thai basil was a little more fragrant. There was a lot more pork than there was rice Penang curry - perfectly sweet with the coconut curry. We got a large rice and it was definitely the right choice to go with all that curry. Would definitely get this again Service was okay. Best Thai curry in town! So flavourful, creamy with coconut milk and lemongrass forward. I come here for this and their mango sticky rice. I need the number for their mango dealer because it's always so sweet and ripe! I always order pad thai at any Thai restaurant, and this is decent but the portion is on the smaller side. I would try another entree next time as I have tried many of their other dishes with rice and it has not let me down yet! Finally had a chance to try their dinner menu. The place is closed between lunch and dinner, so be sure to time things properly. Sukho thai noodle - availalbe with or without soup. I went for the soup option. Served with crushed peanuts, cilantro, some beans, and deep fried wonton skins. Good flavour. Available with beef/chicken/pork. Pad ki mao (drunken noodles) - also available with beef/chicken/pork. Wet noodles without too much sauce, which is nice. Once again, great flavour. Stir fried with onions, red peppers, and a bit of vegetables. For this one I went for the "Thai spicy" (4 levels of spice - mild, medium, hot, "Thai"/extra), which really means they add some more of those deadly red chili peppers. Just the right amount of kick, without melting one's face off or overwhelming the other flavours. Highly recommend this spice level for spice lovers. If you like supporting local family run businesses, Chad Thai is definitely for you. The food is healthy (everything made from scratch), fresh, delicious and surprisingly inexpensive, especially since the portions are generous. I would especially recommend the curries but it's all good and Chad Thai has 99 different dishes so there's something for everyone, including non-spicy and vegetarian dishes. It's been described as "friendly" but actually they treat their customers more like family if you visit regularly. This place has been around for years but somehow my schedule never matched their business hours but I finally got to try it recently. We came here for lunch as I wanted to try the lunch menu. It had a pretty good selection for lunch and prices were fair. I ordered their version of pad gra pow. It came with fried egg and choice of appetizer. 1 Spring roll with broth or 3 chicken wontons (fried or in soup). I had the wontons in soup. The wontons were forgettable. The pad gra pow was average. I found the sauce to be on the lighter side. It was not very flavorful. The saving grace was the fried egg which was done really nicely. I was pretty disappointed with the dish. It was not very busy during lunch though the take out was busier. I may come back again just to try a few more dishes as they have won several awards in the past for best Thai food in Burnaby. read more

I rarely eat Thai food in Vancouver so I was glad to try a different spot. We had the satay chicken skewers which had a really yummy peanut sauce and the chicken was well marinated. Thai iced tea was pretty good. We shared a Panang curry with chicken and it had a nice flavour to it and it was on the sweeter side. I only seem to like the pad thai that was made at the Thai House that used to be at Station Square. I don't even like the pad thai at any other Thai House. Whether it is authentic, I don't know. Mostly awful! We ordered four dishes for takeout last night, the pad Thai, drunken seafood, sweet-and-sour chicken and the pad eggplant. Only the pad Thai was good. Everything else was horrible. The drunken seafood squid was rubbery and flavorless. The sweet-and-sour chicken was horrendous. We couldn't even eat one bite. We threw it in the garbage, the eggplant was a bowl of mush like a three-year-old just boiled all the vegetables until they were a soggy mess. I love Thai food for the bold flavours but this all lacked herbs or flavor. It was all a soupy mess. Look at the photos. When I called to complain the manager couldn't care less. She just kept yapping saying it was probably the condensation that made it so watery. I told her this food was an embarrassment for the Thai culture and she should give me a refund for three of the four dishes because they were so horrible. She refused she's not the owner she doesn't care, I would never eat there again. I spent $75 and 80% of the food went into the garbage. I'm very annoyed that she thinks we as customers don't deserve better when we're paying good money. And by the way, if you place an order on the phone, they might forget part of your order, like they forgot the hot sauce for our order. The manager thinks that's fine that they just forget stuff so she says better to do it online, ridiculous and unprofessional that's for sure . When we came to Chad Thai the restaurant was seriously understaffed. It was very hard to flag down a server and they had one girl who was still in training so she didn't know what to do. It was so busy to the point where they just made me write down our own order on a piece of paper because no one was able to take it. We came because this place received a lot of awards, but we didn't expect our first experience to be like this. Best Thai restaurant in Burnaby HANDS DOWN!! I've been reccomended this place for years but finally got the chance to try last night! My boyfriend and I decided to order some take out since we wanted to just stay in. They opened at 4:30pm for dinner so we called then and they said that our order was ready to pickup in 15 minutes. We got there at 4:50 and the place was already flowing with customers and take out orders! The staff were so friendly. We ordered the chicken pad thai, crispy wontons, chicken satay, pork mussamun curry and a large coconut rice. Our total before tip was around $51 which was so good because we had tons of leftovers. We lived a 5 minute drive away so the food was still piping hot by the time that we got home and I liked how they they packaged it so that nothing leaked. The chicken satay skewers were packed in tinfoil so it was still really hot and tasted amazing with the peanut sauce, it was one of our favourite dishes of the night. The crispy wontons were also super tasty and werent dripping in oil and tasted so good with the sweet and sour dipping sauce. The pad thai is one of the best I've had in a while, it wasn't too overpowering or sweet - just the perfect amount of flavour and had tons of chicken and tofu. The pork mussamun curry was so creamy and we got it mild so it was perfect for us, it paired really well with the potatoes and pineapple and the coconut rice was soo good and affordable for a big box. Chad Thai will be our go-to thai place in the area from now on! read more

It's been a number of years since my last visit to Chad Thai in the Burnaby Heights area... mainly because I wasn't really thrilled with the food the first time around. However, finding us in the area on a rainy Sunday with a hankering for Thai food convinced me to give them another go. This narrow and deep restaurant was quite humid inside when we arrived and we quickly decided to order from their lunch special menu which comes with a chicken broth soup with cilantro and your choice of either crispy chicken wontons or a veggie spring roll. Both options were freshly fried up and had a pleasant crispness to the bite. The filling wasn't anything exciting (or plentiful) but as a freebie, it's okay. The clear broth was hot and served its purpose of warming us up on this dreary day. The Khao Gang ($10.99) green curry chicken with eggplant, peppers, and basil actually turned out pretty good. The sauce was nice and creamy with a slight hint of spiciness (we had asked for "medium"). If you like your curry with a bit more bite, you might want to opt for the spicy version. Interestingly, we ordered the Pad Thai with Prawns ($11.99) and also asked for "medium" spiciness but we found that it seemed spicier than the curry. Chad Thai is a little restaurant on Hasting Street in Burnaby. Although there is no parking at the restaurant, it is easy to find parking on the streets in the neighbourhood. The owner and waiters were very friendly when my parents and I went there for lunch. Who served my table was probably the owner? She was super friendly and told us what were the most popular dishes advising which dishes we should be trying. During the meal, she dropped by my table asking if everything was good at least a few times. She gave us a tray of four different types of spicy sauces and seasonings. My parents and I ordered three lunch combos. Each combo came with a small bowl of daikon soup and three small friend dumplings. The soup and fried dumplings were okay but not the best. We ordered 1) Pad Thai Goong with prawn, 2) Pad Siew and 3) Khao Moo Kratiem Kai Dao. The portion of each of these three dishes were kind of small but all of them tasted delicious. Only the stir fried pork of the third dish was greasy with a lot of oil on the plate. After we left the restaurant, we started to feel thirsty. Probably the Thai food got a lot of seasonings, soy sauce and MSG. We had to drink a lot of water after lunch. I would recommend others to try this restaurant if they are around the neighbourhood. But be expected that it is really thirsty after the meal. read more

This is our go to Thai Food restaurant and from the looks of it, also the favourite of many others, as it gets fairly busy during dinner time, especially with the amount of take out orders they receive. If you're looking for great Thai food, give them a try. There are several convenient free city parking lots scattered around the heights, and usually finding parking is no problem. The restaurant itself is not that large, but we haven't ever had to wait too long for a table. As mentioned, they do get pretty busy, so the wait staff sometimes seems a bit overwhelmed, but it doesn't impact the experience a great deal. Our favourites include Pad Thai, they Yellow Curry, or the Musamun Curry. We usually get a large bowl of the coconut rice as well! If you are not entirely full (we usually are though!) after eating, Glenburn's Ice Cream Shop is just east down the same block! read more

Small and quaint place with a wide variety of Thai food at reasonable prices. I liked that the menu indicated different levels of spicy level. I chose the mildest which had enough taste for a flavourful meal without burning my throat. Spicy enthusiasts can challenge themselves to the spiciest level. I ordered tom yum noodle soup with prawn. The soup was the best part of the dish. The prawns could have been chewier and some of the noodles might be better off replaced with tofu or something to make the dish feel less carb heavy but overall it was a satisfying meal. My friend enjoyed his sweet and sour lunch deal which came with rice, spring roll and a small bowl of soup.
