Great price for the food. The seatings aren't that good but the food is great. The service is fast too although you have to pay at the counter first. The food is flavorful as expected of thai restaurant.

    Chicken cashew $9.95
    Ally S.

Got the chicken cashew ($9.95 lunch special) that came with a salad. Have no idea what dressing was on the salad, but it was tasty. You get a good portion of food for what you're paying. I did like the sauce on the chicken cashew, but I think it would've been better if the chicken was marinated in it as well. Tried the chicken satay as well. The peanut sauce was good and made in house I'm assuming. Overall, pretty quick and friendly service.

I have been here a couple of times during Covid. Both times I was not disappointed. I love their curry dishes (red curry with tofu) with just the right kick of spiciness. Look for their daily specials written on the chalk board. Make sure you check out their lunch specials from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm. They use authentic ingredients as I could taste the lemongrass. You can add either chicken, beef, tofu, or seafood to your selection. They now offer dining inside with a few tables. Unfortunately I have been too full to try their mango and sticky rice dessert. Some day soon! If you ever have a hankering for Thai food, this is the place!

Laab with tofu (made vegan by subbing soy sauce for fish sauce)
    Matt B.

Excellent value, no-frills Thai food with lots of vegan options. I'd been to other locations of Thai Basil before but never reviewed any of them. Time to change that. I did a take-out order one evening by phoning in. Their menu says nothing about vegan options, but I'd seen online from other customers that they can cater to vegans. When phoning in the order, the person taking order made sure we were on the same page about what I wanted -- very clear and helpful. I ordered the laab ($7.95 plus tax), a Thai salad, with tofu, which they could make vegan by omitting the fish sauce and using soy sauce instead. I also ordered the pad see ew ($10.95 plus tax) with tofu, which they made vegan by omitting the egg. The order was ready in 20 minutes. The laab was tasty, coming with lots of shallots, fried mint, garlic, lettuce, and lots of tofu. It was quite spicy and flavourful, but it's really not a salad -- more like a spicy fried tofu kind of appetizer. 3.5/5 The pad see ew was solid as well, coming with the traditional flat rice noodles, plenty of fried tofu, gai lan, cabbage, and carrot. It was a stellar portion and solidly flavoured, though nothing mind-blowing. 3.5/5 For the price, this was definitely worth it. It's not the most complex or rich Thai food out there, but it undercuts almost every other Thai place in town, caters to vegans, and has big portions. That checks a lot of my boxes. Recommended.

    Pad Thai take out
    Kay F.

No frills Thai restaurant on the drive. I ordered a pad thai for take out, and one thing that I was quite impressed with was how quickly it was ready, despite it being around dinner time. The food tasted great, a bit on the greasy side, however no real complaints. Tasty and well priced. A staple for Thai food if I need something quick when on the Drive.

Chicken pad thai takeout, so good

Absolutely love Thai Basil and all of their locations! Quality and flavours are always consistent and extremely affordable as well. I always get their Pad Thai and if you go during their lunch hour it is a bit cheaper and comes with a side salad. They usually do a tomato based pad thai sauce but I wish they did a tamarind one. Either way, it is still so delicious, chewy noodles, lots of sauce and flavour and big pieces of chicken. Thai Basil is a great go-to for affordable and consistent Thai food!

    Pad thai. Yum.

Ordered 2 lunch specials via Door Dash. $9.95 each. Pad thai- very good. Absolutely perfect. Red curry beef - good but tastes COMPLETELY different that a red curry at Thai restaurants. It was a nice change and very tasty. That being said, I still prefer red curry elsewhere. This one had pumpkin in it. I prefer the other red curry with bamboo shoots myself.

A spring roll filed with only noodles

Below is the 4 star rating that I left months ago... This is my updated 3 start review... Really guys!? Please explain to me why my spring roll only has noodles in it. See pic... Disappointed Excellent value for your dollar. The food is really good... Hardly 5 star dining but really good food! The atmosphere is and the lack of table service also loses points. We went tonight and will definitely be making this a regular haunt as, while table service is nice we consider the food to be our priority.

To go pad thai tom ka gai thai tea and pad see ew IG:@chewiechows
    Vivian N.

Wanted Thai food to-go so we checked out Thai basil on commercial. All the dishes were on average $11 each (so cheap!) and was a good portion. We ordered pad thai, pad see ew, tom ka gai soup, two iced thai tea, and mango sticky rice. Both noodles were flavourful and savoury. The tom ka gai was a but too salty for my liking but it would've been maybe better with rice. Thai tea and mango sticky rice were delicious too. Overall the food was a lot better than we were expecting and was so worth it!

Downside was the calamari, the pieces are quite big which make it not as crispy as it would be. Our favorite was the salmon penang curry. the coconut flavor of the curry together with the sweetness make it a very well balanced item. it went very well with the jasmine rice. Have had more delicious pad Thai at places like Thai Coco or even Thai Express. Was offered dessert but didn't feel like staying. Servers were telling other customers about their 1.5 hour policy and they were really bothered by my empty drink container on the table until I put it down below on a chair for our purses and things. I actually wanted to keep the cup because it was thick plastic and reusable. Weird that at 5:30, they wouldn't let people sit inside because of reservations. Didn't look full by the time we left either so I think we could have sat inside just fine. Anyway ... I don't think I'll be back.

My kids favourite. The flavour - it just melts in your mouth and it is sooo good. The flavour is what really stands out. It's not a huge portion. All the appetizers are excellent. In particular our group loved the tofu salad. My daughter says it's the best salad she ever had. Ebi fritters were outstanding too. Crunchy and delish but somehow light at the same time. The brussel sprouts were a bit spicy. Spinach Gomae has an amazing flavour. The desserts are great too. The banana mousse in particular was sublime. You can't go wrong here for your next occasion.

Food was fine, but sadly their rice was slightly undercooked and under-seasoned in their sushi. Ive definitely had it better here, so they are just inconsistent. We had the aburi salmon, aburi shrimp, aburi nigiri combo and all with same problem. Seasoning on the fish was on point. though. Also we ordered the sablefish, octopus, soba noodle. These were all pretty good. They are very expensive though with very small portions. They are priced like a fine dining establishment but the dining experience felt more casual. After $300 for a meal for 4 without drinks, we all left still hungry. And given the abundance of high quality sushi in this city, this place is disappointing and way overpriced. The inconsistent quality though is inexcusable if they charge this much. They do have many items catering to a very western palate and clearly this place targets cruise ship tourists and convention-goers which I suspect is part of the reason their pricing is so high. If youve never really had sushi before, this place is a nice introduction in a nice environment with good service and plenty of non-sushi dishes as well. If you're looking for serious sushi then look elsewhere for much better quality, variety, and value.

Som Tum (Papaya Salad) 3/5 The texture was nice and it tasted refreshing but it is QUITE spicy. I appreciate the authentic Thai spice level but it was too spicy for us. I liked the sourness and I know this rating is a very personal rating based on our spice tolerance. Roti with Curry Sauce 3.75/5 Nice, flaky roti that wasn't too oily. I wish there was a little more sauce. Pad See Ew with Crab Meat 4/5 Great flavor. There was a decent number of clumped up noodle but the portion was great. Good amount of crab as well. Boat Noodle Soup 4.25/5 This was the best boat noodle we had so far. Flavorful broth with generous portion of various meats. There could be an option to get more noodles but my partner got this and she was satisfied with the amount since there were good chunks of meat. Good heat that creeps up. Roselle Drink 3.75-4.5/5 Great compliment to the dishes as it lightened and refreshed our pallette. Slightly sour. It tasted better with the food than by itself. Thai Milk Tea 3.5/5 Good enough. I was hoping that they had mango sticky rice but we thoroughly enjoyed the coconut I think it's also important to keep in mind that this is a relatively fast paced restaurant.
