    Pad see ew (beef)
    Thu P.

My partner and I sat in and had pad see ew, pad kra prow, and a Thai iced milk tea. Everything was divine. The pad see ew had a lot of meat, eggs, and vegetables. The flavour was so good.. I could eat three dishes of this non-stop just to keep tasting it. I have nothing bad to say about it. The pad kra pow was too spicy for me, but it was still so good. I just avoided the chili seeds. Lots of meat -- the meat to rice ratio is basically 1:1. The flavour was phenomenal here too. The Thai iced milk tea was also great. Very sweet! Which is my preference. A great way to end the very umami meal. The service was good -- it's just counter service. It wasn't a particularly hot day, but it was quite hot in the restaurant. I can see it becoming unbearable during the summer, but it was fine for that day. Lots of tables inside.

Great price for the food. The seatings aren't that good but the food is great. The service is fast too although you have to pay at the counter first. The food is flavorful as expected of thai restaurant.

    Chicken cashew $9.95
    Ally S.

Got the chicken cashew ($9.95 lunch special) that came with a salad. Have no idea what dressing was on the salad, but it was tasty. You get a good portion of food for what you're paying. I did like the sauce on the chicken cashew, but I think it would've been better if the chicken was marinated in it as well. Tried the chicken satay as well. The peanut sauce was good and made in house I'm assuming. Overall, pretty quick and friendly service.

I have been here a couple of times during Covid. Both times I was not disappointed. I love their curry dishes (red curry with tofu) with just the right kick of spiciness. Look for their daily specials written on the chalk board. Make sure you check out their lunch specials from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm. They use authentic ingredients as I could taste the lemongrass. You can add either chicken, beef, tofu, or seafood to your selection. They now offer dining inside with a few tables. Unfortunately I have been too full to try their mango and sticky rice dessert. Some day soon! If you ever have a hankering for Thai food, this is the place!

Laab with tofu (made vegan by subbing soy sauce for fish sauce)
    Matt B.

Excellent value, no-frills Thai food with lots of vegan options. I'd been to other locations of Thai Basil before but never reviewed any of them. Time to change that. I did a take-out order one evening by phoning in. Their menu says nothing about vegan options, but I'd seen online from other customers that they can cater to vegans. When phoning in the order, the person taking order made sure we were on the same page about what I wanted -- very clear and helpful. I ordered the laab ($7.95 plus tax), a Thai salad, with tofu, which they could make vegan by omitting the fish sauce and using soy sauce instead. I also ordered the pad see ew ($10.95 plus tax) with tofu, which they made vegan by omitting the egg. The order was ready in 20 minutes. The laab was tasty, coming with lots of shallots, fried mint, garlic, lettuce, and lots of tofu. It was quite spicy and flavourful, but it's really not a salad -- more like a spicy fried tofu kind of appetizer. 3.5/5 The pad see ew was solid as well, coming with the traditional flat rice noodles, plenty of fried tofu, gai lan, cabbage, and carrot. It was a stellar portion and solidly flavoured, though nothing mind-blowing. 3.5/5 For the price, this was definitely worth it. It's not the most complex or rich Thai food out there, but it undercuts almost every other Thai place in town, caters to vegans, and has big portions. That checks a lot of my boxes. Recommended.

    Pad Thai take out

No frills Thai restaurant on the drive. I ordered a pad thai for take out, and one thing that I was quite impressed with was how quickly it was ready, despite it being around dinner time. The food tasted great, a bit on the greasy side, however no real complaints. Tasty and well priced. A staple for Thai food if I need something quick when on the Drive.

Chicken pad thai takeout, so good

Absolutely love Thai Basil and all of their locations! Quality and flavours are always consistent and extremely affordable as well. I always get their Pad Thai and if you go during their lunch hour it is a bit cheaper and comes with a side salad. They usually do a tomato based pad thai sauce but I wish they did a tamarind one. Either way, it is still so delicious, chewy noodles, lots of sauce and flavour and big pieces of chicken. Thai Basil is a great go-to for affordable and consistent Thai food!

    Pad thai. Yum.

Ordered 2 lunch specials via Door Dash. $9.95 each. Pad thai- very good. Absolutely perfect. Red curry beef - good but tastes COMPLETELY different that a red curry at Thai restaurants. It was a nice change and very tasty. That being said, I still prefer red curry elsewhere. This one had pumpkin in it. I prefer the other red curry with bamboo shoots myself.

A spring roll filed with only noodles
    R S.

Below is the 4 star rating that I left months ago... This is my updated 3 start review... Really guys!? Please explain to me why my spring roll only has noodles in it. See pic... Disappointed Excellent value for your dollar. The food is really good... Hardly 5 star dining but really good food! The atmosphere is and the lack of table service also loses points. We went tonight and will definitely be making this a regular haunt as, while table service is nice we consider the food to be our priority.

We were seated next to a window, and it was nice to look out at the happenings on the water near the cruise port. They were very accommodating of our daughter. We made several special requests to accommodate her (sophisticated for her age but still toddler) palate. She loved the meal as much as we did. We ordered some (bento-style) lunch options and the flavours were all divine. It was a ton of food but we felt obliged to eat it all because it was so delicious. The pressed sushi was amazing. All the fish was super fresh. Although it is an expensive restaurant (as most sushi restaurants are), we felt the price was fair for the quality. The only thing I would say is that I wish they started lunch a little earlier than noon. We had a reservation for 12pm noon and arrived a few minutes early. We were the first ones there. Although they were nice enough to allow us to sit in the entrance lobby while we waited, upon opening at noon they took other reservations ahead of ours.

The unfortunate downside for getting a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Butter Beef - beefy, garlicky, herby, tangy, sweet, it's got a little bit of everything. Very tender Trieu Chau Fried Rice - this dish is fantastic. One of the better fried rice dishes I have had. It has the wok hay and I would have been perfectly happy just to eat this as a meal Phnom Penh Chicken Wings - the first bite I had, I was not impressed. I dipped it in the lemon juice with pepper and it had some crisp, but was really lacking in flavor. Then we found a small pile of fried garlic near the bottom of the plate. That's where all the salt and flavor was. We put that onto the wings and they were quite good. Wish that was just set to the side at the beginning. The restaurant is located on a busy street and is unassuming/easy to miss so I'm glad my boyfriend pointed it out for us to try with some friends. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share. They all arrived relatively quickly and my favourites were the pad thai and the khao soi. The pad thai was fragrant and on the sweeter side which I like. I also liked the fresh raw bean sprouts on the side. The khao soi was curry noodles with tender beef and crispy egg noodles. The curry was very flavourful with a hint of heat and sweetness. This was also my first time trying curry noodles at a Thai restaurant. The green curry was filled with bamboo shoots, peppers, and a good amount of chicken. The flavour from the bamboo shoots really comes through as well. For the crab fried rice, it came with a spicy sauce and pickled vegetables. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough to go around so I didn't get a chance to get a good taste of it with the rice. However, I scooped some curry sauce from the khao soi onto the crab friend rice and it was delicious! Finally, we tried the mango sticky rice and my goodness, it was so pretty! The rice was warm and sweet which paired beautifully with the slightly tart mango. I'll definitely have to come back to have more of the khao soi noodles!
