This wasn't my first rodeo with Texas Roadhouse--I've been here, done that, and usually left happy. But this time? This time was an adventure. Knowing full well that the restaurant would be packed on a Saturday night, we opted for takeout. I placed the order through the app (side note: still wish there was a way to apply my military discount there, but oh well). The app said our food would be ready at 7:30, so we left at 7:15, only to hit absolute chaos--downtown traffic, a basketball game, and the auto show. When we pulled into the parking lot, it was a zoo...and past our order time. No parking, not even in the designated to-go spots. My husband circled the lot while I made a break for the to-go shack. I was greeted promptly in the to-go area and informed that our food was almost ready--just waiting on the salads. Cool, no big deal. Or so I thought. Then I waited. And waited. And waited. The guy next to me was also waiting. We exchanged knowing glances--the silent camaraderie of two souls trapped in to-go limbo. Meanwhile, orders were flying out left and right... just not ours. We had made the tragic mistake of ordering lettuce. Slowly, salads began emerging from the back like some rare, exotic delicacy. The other guy finally got his food and left. I, however, remained. Just a girl, standing in a to-go shack, waiting for a house salad. At long last, my order appeared, and I grabbed it with all the hope of someone praying their food was still warm. Spoiler alert: it wasn't. Back home, the steaks were lukewarm at best, but the salads? Peak freshness. So, mission accomplished? Kind of? The real heartbreak? My sweet potato. Instead of arriving fully loaded with all the toppings, I was handed a sad little DIY kit--tiny cups of cinnamon, brown sugar, and butter--while the roasted marshmallows sat lonely on top. I was not emotionally prepared for a build-your-own-side situation. It wasn't bad, just... not the Texas Roadhouse I know and love. As I always told my kids growing up: I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed.

Arrived at 3p on Sunday and it was still pretty bustling. We love coming here for the delicious rolls with cinnamon butter, onion blossom, loaded sweet potato and affordable steaks and ribs. Its not a fancy steak house by any means but the steaks are good and ribs are tender and delicious as well. Our server was very friendly and efficient. The portions are good and we always seem to have leftovers because I get full off the sweet rolls.

We have been to a Texas Roadhouse before and the food has always been very good!!! It's a comfortable atmosphere with country music playing and TVs going. Thankfully it's not so loud that you Can't hear yourself talk! We came on a Saturday evening and it was very very busy. (Being Mothers Day weekend probably made it busier than usual but that was expected) We arrived and asked for a table for 2 , expecting to wait 35 minutes , but to our surprise we got the text to come up front very quickly ! It was a short wait for our table. We got the Fort Worth Ribeye, and the grilled chicken salad. The wait was reasonable for our food, considering how busy it was . The staff was very friendly and we thought they did a great job. The food was delicious and. We appreciated everyone's efforts!

Visiting council bluffs again. We came back to Texas Roadhouse. The place was super busy, with the parking lot full and all tables filled. Our waitress was fantastic and asked us many time whether we needed anything else. We really enjoyed the prompt service. We had the specialMargarita which was very tasty. For our entrees, we ordered steakhouse filet salad, filet and rib combo, ribeye and shrimp combo. The ribeye combo was done very well. the filet combo was very good. The salad was good but the steak was undercooked, because I asked for medium but it was rare. The ambiance was good, maybe a little loud at the beginning of our dinner. There were two birthdays while we were eating. All the waitresses were singing loudly. All in all, we had a good meal. We hope we will come back again next year.

    14oz Fort Worth Ribeye

14oz Fort Worth Ribeye, ordered medium. Picked up, got home, enormous mistake! 2oz of edible beef cooked a smidge beyond rare and 12 oz of gristle and inedible connective tissue. Worst steak I've ever had. Wife's 8oz sirloin, which is usually our go to at roadhouse was also grisly. To top it all off we got a free hair on my wife's steak! Guess we won't be patronizing the Council Bluffs location again.

Last time i went to Texas roadhouse must have been 2 years ago! Food and service were great. Shrimp and steak were delicious and perfectly cooked! We were check on a few times to ask how we were liking the food, they were super nice and we got seated pretty quickly after we joined the waitlist! I usually like to go local but no regrets coming here

After a fun day at the zoo, we decided to finally try Smoking Jay's. On this day, we took advantage of a special that was enough to feed two. Three pork ribs, brisket, two sides, toast, and cornbread. First, like every barbecue place, I like to try the sauce first. Good BBQ doesn't need sauce but a good BBQ restaurant should have it. Strange thinking, I know. They have two sauces here. Spicy and regular. Both seemed overwhelmingly full of, I think, molasses. I didn't care for either but favored the spicy (which is hardly spicy). Strangely, the sauce tasted better when paired with the meat. Imagine that! You get two choices for brisket, fatty or lean. We chose lean and it was not great but better than okay. Well seasoned too. Notice the nice smoke ring in my picture! The ribs? They were 100% perfectly, delicious, and NOT fall off the bone (which should never be for legit BBQ - a good rib has a tug). Bravo for great ribs!! The side dish of BBQ beans was pretty good, better than most, but there was something in there that was not to my liking (best guess, bay leaf... yuck). The coleslaw was alright. There was also a nice small side of spicy pickles and onions too. Overall, we will come back when convenient and get those ribs again! Okra is another side dish that we will try next time. Super friendly people here!

Upon walking in, we saw the place looked clean and comfortable. We went up to the counter to order, but weren't sure what to get. The person in front of us finished his order and we were instantly tickled to see how they send the order to the kitchen. We asked the person behind the counter what was good, as we were visiting from California and had never been there before. He was great at explaining the menu and giving suggestions. Very friendly. We settled on sharing a swamp donkey burger, fries and a side of Cole slaw. We watched our order whiz away to the kitchen and went to get our drinks. We found a good table, sat down and talked for a few minutes. Before long our order had arrived. The person that brought it over asked if we needed anything else. , and we asked for an extra plate and a fork and knife. He quickly brought it all over, and we felt silly because we didn't see utensils were right next to the drink machine, and we should have gotten them ourselves. I apologized for missing it, but he was so polite and friendly and seemed like it was no big deal. We cut the burger in half, I started on the cold slaw (delicious), and then got to it. The burger was amazing. It was big, perfectly done, and completely hit the spot. The fries were also great. We didn't have long before we gad to get back to the hotel to get ready for the flight, and having already paid at the beginning, it was quick and easy heading out. I don't know if/when we will be back to Council Bluffs, but if we are, we will be back 100% for sure. Highly recommend!

We ordered the Carolina Pork (topped this coleslaw) sandwich and the brisket sandwich. I think it's important to note that we are in KC style territory, so a North Carolina native might not give the pork five stars but I think a Midwesterner would appreciate it. The brisket was tender and flavorful. The sides were mighty! The potato salad was ranked a "must order" and described as "church picnic" quality, due to the high ratio of eggs and mustard. We tried the fried cabbage with bacon; if you enjoy greens I felt like this was a cabbage variant and quite tasty. We have vowed to return to try the sandwich that comes topped with hot links!! From the nicely sized loaded taters to the spicy hot links, to the tender ribs, to the succulent pulled pork, it's all so good. They even have great curly fries, and I'm not usually a big fan of curly fries because they are so often dry. One of my favorites from here is the open-face sandwich. It's Texas toast, mashed potatoes, brisket, and gravy. I add their pickled jalapenos on top of it, and it is heaven on a plate! Another thing about them that I love is that their ribs aren't swimming in sauce. They use a wonderful rub on them, and they have some really good sauces that you can add yourself if you want, so you can control how messy your ribs are. I find that I never really need the sauce because the ribs are flavorful, moist, and tender on their own. It's smoky goodness through and through. If you do prefer sauces, rest assured, they have some tasty options for you. The portion sizes are not skimpy, and we always feel like we get our money's worth. They have a nice, big menu board that is easy to read, and the prices for everything are clear. They also offer some great free condiments that elevate the menu offerings. Over by the soda machines, they have a small salad bar-style setup that includes sliced raw onions, pepperocinis, pickled jalapenos, dill pickle slices, and the like. It really makes the meal!

I'm sure you can find decent BBQ still in Nebraska, but this isn't it. First of all, the price of BBQ is outrageous. I think that's a product of this economy, but we spent over $30 on a 3 meat combo and an extra side. One person could probably have this for their meal, which is a decent amount of food, but this is very pricey for what you get. SMALL sides, and the sample you get 3 spare ribs, 5-6 brisket slices, and maybe 1/2 a link of sausage. Our sides were the Pit chips, Mac n cheese, and a small sliver of corn bread. Nothing else- no drinks, we're just interested in the food. Normally from a "true" Texas BBQ joint, you'll get an entire loaf of bread with your meats - we didn't get any bread at all. If you get a sandwich like their brisket sandwich, you'll get the missing element, but if you have a combo with just the meats, it might go a long way to making the experience better. How was the food? We got our food to go. Give it a little time to rest before opening it up. The smells were decent, so I knew that it was smoked meats (the bare minimum requirement for actual BBQ). Let's start with the sausage. Nothing special - probably bought from the grocery store next door and thrown in the smoker. No cheese in the sausage. It was OK, but wasn't great. It reminded me of an Oscar Meyer kilbasa with a little more kick (spices). Real Texas BBQ like a Rudy's sausage blows this away - not even in the same league. I appreciate the attempt, but if they are serving this stuff, they need to go back to the drawing board. It absolutely does not taste or look like they make their own sausage, but I would love to hear if they do. It would be shocking if they say that they make their own sausage. Brisket was probably the star of the combo. The first few pieces were tender and had a nice arc when you put your finger in the middle. Paired with their BBQ sauce (the sweet is better than their spicy sauce), if it was a one meat combo and they gave me more brisket, then I would have been more satisfied. If you're dragged there, go for the brisket. But I think a good bbq joint needs good ribs. The cooking was pretty spot on - not fall off the bone, but relatively clean bones. The spare ribs might have been a better choice. The bark on the ribs were decent, but just my preference, I like to have saucey ribs. These were maybe sauced and then thrown on the grill, but maybe not. The bark is pretty salty. Maybe good for drunk food, but they could do better on the ribs. Adding their sweet sauce at the end on the grill would make these ribs MUCH better, because all the elements are there, it is just the execution that lacked. My biggest problem was really the portions. The sides were REALLY small. The pit chips were just kettle chips (nice and crispy) with a HEAVY dose of spices. Not bad, but not amazing, and that tells you what you need to know about the sides. Mac and cheese was decent, but can you give me more than 1/2 a spoon full? For $3.00, I would expect about twice or three times the size of the container we got. The small portions sizes make me feel ripped off - when you pull it out of the bag and immediately say "really"? Everyone agrees that it should be like a $1 side if you were to say that you got your money's worth. If you charged $3 for a side, give a decent portion, would ya?!! Finally the corn bread. I love a "famous" corn bread from a competing bbq restaurant, and compared to them, this is rather disappointing. It certainly is sweet, and the taste is ok, but honestly, the way it tasted, it almost exactly tasted like a yellow cake mix from a grocery store. At the "famous" place, you have some grittiness from the corn - this didn't have much of that. It was fluffy and crumbly, so it had potential, but the experience wasn't there. The corn meal grittiness, kicking it up to double the amount, maybe triple, it would have been much better. As it stood, it was a small slice of yellow cake. So overall, you and your drunk buddies going here for drinks and getting some drunk food, I'm sure that's how this place survives. But the food - the reason why we went - it's not something you walk away and say that was an incredible meal! Small portion sizes, expensive food, and just OK flavor, it definitely wasn't worth it. I would say it is most definitely salvageable with some tweaks, but as it stands, I would put this in the mid- to bottom-tier of BBQ I've eaten in Omaha. Probably won't be back unless I hear that things have changed.
