The pulled pork was mediocre, nothing too special. The real winner here were the ribs! The ribs were fall of the bone soft and super juicy! If I'm back in town I'd definitely go back for those ribs! read more

We wound up here for takeout while driving Center Street complaining that we didn't know where to pick up lunch We looked up, saw Wayne's on approach and knew the BBQ Gods were calling to us. We ordered the Carolina Pork (topped this coleslaw) sandwich and the brisket sandwich. I think it's important to note that we are in KC style territory, so a North Carolina native might not give the pork five stars but I think a Midwesterner would appreciate it. The brisket was tender and flavorful. The sides were mighty! The potato salad was ranked a "must order" and described as "church picnic" quality, due to the high ratio of eggs and mustard. We tried the fried cabbage with bacon; if you enjoy greens I felt like this was a cabbage variant and quite tasty. We have vowed to return to try the sandwich that comes topped with hot links!! I also want to try the ribs, the smokers outside looked rib-ready. Combos consist of a sandwich, side and can of pop and if you order to go things are wrapped up in a fashion that's guaranteed to not tip over. I think you should go visit, and help us sample our way around the menu. read more

I realized recently that I love BBQ and that we've got some great bbq places here in Omaha. Wayne's was quick, affordable, and delicious! They do call ahead orders and they have a drive up window for your convenience. There's a few tables and chairs inside if you want to sit there and eat. I got burnt ends, pulled pork, French fries, fried cabbage, a cookie and a drink for less than $20 and literally everything was delicious. read more

I went and grabbed some lunch as I was passing by. I work across the street and have been smelling the food and considered going several times, so I pulled the trigger. The food was great. I got the hot link sandwich. I really enjoyed it. Everyone there was so welcoming. I definitely will return to try some of the other menu items. Support local businesses and GO TO THERE!!! read more

Had weeknight dinner with my family and we decided on Wayne's NSBBQ based on a friend's recommendation. We ordered at the counter and had a seat. Wayne's has a small dining area, but is comfortable. It seems like a perfect "take out" joint, to me. We had ribs, brisket, and sliced beef links with fried cabbage and bacon, baked beans, potato salad, and French fries as sides. We tried both the spicy and mild sauces. The food was all great-everyone enjoyed everything! Definitely, we will be back. Go support this locally owned business! They do a great job and deserve your support. read more

The ribs were delicious; smoked just right and perfectly tender. The brisket was chopped, also tender and flavorful. We found this place with a "BBQ near me" search and don't know that we would have ever know about it otherwise. This is a small place, though you can dine in. We got ours to go and enjoyed a chopped up hot link on the way home. The baked beans had ground beef and a nice tangy flavor and fries were seasoned well. I LOVE dirty rice but their rice was not as flavorful as e rest of the food. 4/5 stars for that and the price seemed a bit high. (A slice of apple pie was $6) We will try this place again; next time catfish filets. The service was super. Parking lot right next to the building. read more

The meat was amazing. Hubs had the BBQ brisket sandwich and I had the catfish. Loved those very much. The fries were just okay. I'd go back though to try the brisket. Guy working there was nice and good was done on time. read more

I've driven past a dozen times.... BBQ pops in my brain.. Yes - let's try Wayne's - Tiny little spot - Do not I'll say it again so not pass by this place. Holy deliciousness I called in an order- said I'd be there in 20- he said I'll see ya soon- Fries sizzling as I walked in - OH just getting in side the door and this lovely couple asks me if I'd like something sweet to go with my order. We stopped by Wayne's New Skoo BBQ for lunch today after reading prior reviews. The place is small with a few indoor and outdoor tables. I had the brisket sandwich with a side of baked beans and a side of cabbage. The brisket was chopped into cubes and piled high onto the bun. The brisket was very flavorful and moist. The beans were sweet, but for me, the cabbage was fantastic and the highlight of my lunch. Very well seasoned and with bacon added. My husband had the fried catfish and said that it was tasty. We will stop by again next time we're in town. read more

It is a small unassuming place and the folks there weren't overly friendly, but the cashier was polite and quickly took my order. I ordered the brisket sandwich combo, I guess that I was expecting slices of brisket. No matter really, the chopped brisket was tender and with a little dollop of the mild BBQ sauce that was provide, I found it pretty darn good. I opted for the coleslaw as a side and although it seemed like a small serving, it was good. I'd like to go back and try a few of their other offerings. I really want to try the "Hotboy" next read more

Great BBQ! The ribs are served dry with sauce on the side. They are tender and smoky and cooked perfectly. I like the mild sauce. But they have others too. I never had cabbage with bacon before and it is amazing at Wayne's. BBQ beans are good too. Service in drive through was prompt and friendly. read more

I'll get straight to the point. This is a bbq spot but I have fallen in love with their catfish fillet meal and catfish sandwich and fries soooooooo GOOD!! I tried the brisket nachos and was not impressed it was a bit cold maybe I came on an off day. I do recommend you give this place a try. read more

I decided to get dinner here after driving by the building numerous times with smoke rolling out of the smoker out front. If I'm honest what actually caught my eye was on the sign they said they had catfish, and I LOVE me some good catfish. Anyhow, spot is small, 4 tables inside, 2 outside, walk up take-out/drive-through window, a nice little hole in the wall to grab a bite at in the little strip mall with the tobacco hut. I ordered the catfish sandwich, and a "Hot Boy" sandwich. If you're like myself and unknowing as to what a hot boy is, its a pulled pork sandwich with spicy sausage in it, and damn is it delicious. Catfish sandwich was also excellent. Fish was fried to perfection, flakey, crispy, and not at all oily. Will definitely go back. read more

This is a classic little BBQ joint with the kind of wood-smoked meat that takes lots of work, time, and love to cook. That means they might run out on a busy day (any place that never runs out, I'd never trust). The meat is moist, smoky, and a little salty. It's smoked without any sauce (I prefer a little caramelized sauce on my ribs, which is why I only give it 4 stars). They offer a good variety of sauces--different brands and styles. Seating is 4 tables inside, plus 2 outside. read more

The food was EXCELLENT -- we had it catered to our work today. I've never seen any catering containers here actually get completely emptied, and we ate all of it. With lots of people out of the office! The brisket, mac and cheese, and CORNBREAD (!!!!!) were real stand-outs. read more

Wow!! This place has wonderful tasting ribs cooked just right, and the side dishes are very good too! The fried cabbage is the best cooked cabbage dish I've ever had in my life and I'm probably older than you! Feeling like having a double cabbage kind of day, I had the coleslaw too and it was very good! The lady behind the counter was very nice - you know, just as most Nebraskans are quite friendly! The only negative aspect to this place is that there aren't very many tables. read more

THE BEST BBQ in Omaha this was my first time trying his bbq 1/3/25 and I'm going BACK today 1/4/25 for some more of that WONDERFUL BBQ

I have to say that the ribs were great and the spicy bbq sauce was excellent. Not very spicy, but really good flavor. I also ordered catfish, which was good, but nothing special. Overall, definitely worth the money read more

Oh yeah, the food was super yummy to my tummy. The restaurant is small, bit the flavor is large. I had the brisket nachos and my husband had the hot sausage with pulled pork and a side of fries. The fries had a season salt that was perfectly seasoned, the pork was flavorful and moist. The brisket has a super smokey flavor and was not dry at all. I will definitely go back again again, I suggest you do the same. Your taste buds will thank you. read more

Never in my life have I felt so compelled to write a review of a local restaurant. Wayne is the REAL DEAL. I ordered a half rack of baby back with the sauce on the side. Truth be told, I did not like the sauce, but order them with sauce on the side and lather those bad boys up with whatever sauce you prefer. These ribs taste like good ol fashioned home cook barbeque. I'm not entirely convinced that Wayne isn't just in his backyard cooking these up on a charcoal grill. I can't praise these ribs enough. Give this man his flowers read more

I've been wanting to check this place out since it is not super far from home. I really struggled between a 4 star and a 5 star review!! Very small place but has a good vibe to it. I like that they play blues music to add to the atmosphere! I placed my order to go and ended up ordering enough food for almost 2 meals as I wanted to sample different items. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, 3 ribs and cornbread. I wanted to try the beans but unfortunately he said they were not yet ready. Next time. Yes there will be a next time! The pulled pork was very tender and juicy. Had a good hint of smokiness, maybe could have used a bit more and would really like to see some bark in it but there wasn't. It still was very good! The ribs were not fall off the bone but pulled off very easily. Juicy and a great smoky flavor. Really good baby backs! The cornbread was in between the old fashioned gritty corn bread (which I love) and cake like and it also was good. I love that they don't put BBQ sauce on the meat. Good BBQ doesn't need sauce as I like to eat some without first! They have a table full of different kinds of BBQ sauce for you to pick from. The 3 people ahead of me in line all ordered the pulled pork nachos, as did 2 people that came in while I was waiting for my order. Guess I better try them next time along with the brisket!! Glad you're in the neighborhood Wayne! read more

Wayne's New Skoo BBQ - Pork and baby back ribs - Barbeque Near Me - Omaha, Nebraska

If you are looking for amazing home cooked smoked BBQ in Omaha, look no further. It can be a challenge to find a great BBQ restaurant in Omaha, especially not a bland chain restaurant. After my previous favorite place moved out of town a couple years ago, I have been coming up empty when trying to find a place that could fill the void for delicious smoked meat. That was until a late lunch search right here on yelp popped up this new place called Wayne's New Skoo BBQ. I went to check it out and the rest is history, Wayne's has become my new favorite BBQ joint in town. Wayne has a lot of options on the menu and everything is good. I have been back several times now and it is consistently good every time. The meat is moist with just the right amount of smoky flavor. Upfront there is a nice selection of different sauces to choose from. Don't let the small atmosphere fool you, some of the best food across the county is found in small hole in the wall places. If you are a fan of delicious BBQ you simply have to check this place out. read more

We tried this place on a whim and we were not disappointed. The location is cozy and the atmosphere is casual. We got everything to go and all was packed up nice and nothing was skipped. The BbQ sauce was delicious! read more

I'd go 5stars but need to try the rest first. But had the ribs. Smokey flavor was perfect and not too strong. Like they offered sauce on side which is the way it should be. Plus have option of mild or hot. Went with mild. It's a VERY good KC style sauce. The ribs weren't too fatty and cut/trimmed perfectly. Definitely ordering again but first trying brisket. If their brisket stands up to their ribs... it will be 5 stars. Drive thru is perfect option. Best ribs in Omaha so far!! read more

Brisket is not sliced. It's cut into small pieces and seems steamed or baked versus smoked. No bark at all. Ribs were dry and not very flavorful Won't visit again read more

Doesn't look like much from the outside but the drive thru option is clutch. I'm pretty picky on my bbq and this is the best bbq I've found in Omaha so far. The sides are amazing too. Highly recommend! read more

This a a great BBQ spot. Ordered two smoked pull pork sandwiches and catfish sandwich. Coleslaw, fries and potato salad. Everything was tasty and prices were reasonable. Super tasty! Went to Wayne's for the first time today and it was great. Had the Carolina pulled pork sandwich and the pork was delicious with great BBQ flavor and very moist. For the sides I had the beans and potato salad. I don't like most bbq beans but these were my favorite. Wayne loads them up with meat so they're pretty thick and I liked that. I'll definitely be back soon to try some ribs. read more

Delicious BBQ and friendly service. Don't expect much in terms of dining in; there's maybe four tables. There's a drive thru though.

I had never heard of this place before but was really wanting pulled pork nachos and found this place and decided to go try it. Truly some of the best BBQ i've had and the fries were delicious. Extremely well priced especially for how much food you get. Definitely will be back!! read more

Was craving some BBQ so I swung by Wayne's. Ordered the family meal, and I was not disappointed in the slightest. The brisket was smoky and tender, the ribs fell off the bone and were also rich in that smokiness. I would definitely eat the chicken and catfish again too, as both were excellent. Steakhouse fries can be hit or miss, but these were well seasoned and crispy with a soft pillowy center. BBQ sauce can make or break a meal, and Wayne's definitely elevated it! The staff was very friendly and down to earth, I can't wait to give them my business again. read more

We've been to Memphis, Austin, Kansas City and St. Louis and ordered bbq in all those cities. Wayne's BBQ was incredible, and reminded me of a mix of Austin and Memphis, but way better.
