i HATE when places don't acknowledge when they're at fault and try to make it seem like you're the irrational customer for pointing it out. i order the chipotle chicken salad at least once a week, it's my favorite salad, i know how it should look. giving me a plate full of lettuce cores with absolutely no leafy greens, no dressing, no radishes, no bread, no avocado and very little cilantro/onions, i'm going to point it out. this is not what i paid for and i'm expecting it to be replaced or for them to acknowledge their mistake. if they didn't have the ingredients, inform the customer before ordering. it's that simple! i don't need your attitude nor the looks from the kitchen staff. read more

Just to let the management know: Tender Greens was always my favorite, on Thursday (7/14/22) I placed an order for two fried Chicken dinners. I was trying to impress my son with Tender Greens Fried Chicken. Well, I have never had a more DRIED CHICKEN in my life, it seems that chicken stayed under the lights all day, I also ordered the Roasted Potatoes, I couldn't even get my teeth through one they were so hard. Customer service is need of repair! Rude cashiers and workers. They look messy and unkept. I will not be returning. Food was ok. But not worth the all the attitude and dirty looks. This was the worst dining experience I've had in 18 years dining around Pasadena. Walking along the food prep area I noted a stack of juicy slabs of steak, and decided that's what I wanted. There's a "Steak Plate" on the menu. But when I ordered it I was told, "Sorry, we're out of steak." I said "No you're not" and walked back to where I had seen the slabs of steak. I pointed at them and said "You have 6, maybe seven slabs of steak right here." The response was "Oh, it's only for To Go orders." I was incredulous and said" Wait, you're telling the guy who's standing right in front of you that he can't have the steak plate but somebody out there in the world somewhere can order it online and can get it?" Response was "Yes, that's right Sir, is there anything else we can get you?" So I ordered something else (you can't fight City Hall, right?) and then insult was added to injury when we sat down and discovered the wooden table top was sticky and dirty (like a soft drink had been spilled, and not wiped up,, that kind of sticky-to-the-touch dirty), and the table wobbled so badly we had to hold onto our drinks to keep them from flying off the table. After not being a huge fan of tender greens, I decided to check this place out again and I was pleasantly surprised. I used to order their tuna, which I typically like at other places but its always been really bland at Tender Greens for my taste. The street parking isn't always the best, but apparently there is a lot they validate underneath the building. Luckily, we got here at 11:45am just because the lunch crowd (which really wasn't that bad) and found parking on the street right in front at a 1 hour spot. I ended up order the BBQ Chicken Salad. I opted for the balsamic dressing and replaced the chicken with the falafel. I'm so glad they are able to do that and don't charge more like other places when you try to replace meat. OMG, the falafel was so good! They gave you 4 good sized pieces and it was crispy, yet soft inside. It was very flavorful. The salad was delicious, too! Their agua frescas were delicious. I am pretty indecisive when it comes to big menus, and like to use pictures or see the food to help me decide, so I would have preferred to walk past the food first and then order. I got the coconut shrimp chefs special of the day and substituted the salad for mashed potatoes because they looked amaaaaaazing (they were). The rice was tender and creamy and the cabbage slaw and corn salsa added a little zip. Would have like a little more of the sliced steak, but overall was happy with the food. My daughter's veggies weren't hot when she got them, but that was only drawback. Service was fairly quick. Our server was actually one of the managers and she was kind and helpful, even though she was nearing the end of a double shift. I tried to give her a tip and she refused; instead asking me to put it in the tip jar inside, and drop a review on Yelp. I asked for a refund and they said my refund would take 5 days. I called 3 times and was told 3 times my meal was refunded. 2 weeks later I still never got my refund.... I got the hot plate for $11.50. It comes with meat, a simple salad of choice & mashed potatoes or subbed vegetable of choice. I got the salt & pepper chicken, tender greens salad & roasted squash. What I like about this place is that the flavors are light & not heavily seasoned with spices or drowned in sauce. The salt and pepper chicken is a great choice. They give a good portion of meat, I think 5 oz? It was pretty lean also! The tender greens salad is a good basic salad paired with the chicken. I subbed their regular dressing with the lemon vinaigrette. Instead of mashed potatoes, I got roasted squash which came with zucchini and yellow summer squash. It was grilled & seasoned just how I like it!! It also comes with a slice of bread which is either toasted or grilled with some olive oil. Overall, everything paired together very well! This is very similar to urban plates in terms of portions, ordering style & type of food. They have many vegan friendly desserts such as brownies, cookies and cupcakes as well. They always tempt me when I'm at the cashier :P They also have daily specials which is exciting because it's something out of the ordinary I get to try! Love the food here. You just feel good eating here, everything is so fresh and healthy, I am obsessed with their ahi salad, always very satisfying. Service is great, even if they are busy, the food comes out quickly and can be modified to your liking or diet. I ordered the Chicken Chipotle BBQ salad and a free mint lemonade with check-in. The salad itself was just okay -- I wish the chicken was more flavorful, didn't have much of a chipotle taste. Overall, the salad was very lackluster. I even had to add salt to give it a boost. But I will say that they have good portions as I was full off my meal. And the mint lemonade was far too sweet, so I had to dilute it with some water. I noticed that they had amazing service though, even though it's a salad bar where you order and pay at the front, the servers go above and beyond to ensure the customers are taken care of.
