Great food. Nice music and decor. Not so friendly service. I tried this place a while back and saw lots of items I want to try. I came in on a Sunday night and had a very good meal. The downside: The cashier made me feel like I was bothering her when I asked questions or for condiments. The food was great, but the vibe was unwelcoming. I'll keep coming back for the food. But I will feel awkward when someone looks at me like I'm asking to borrow money when I'm patronizing their business (and always tipping 20%). Could be an off day. Could be the Boston I always heard about. If I have the emotional energy, I'll make this a go to. If not, I'll eat slightly inferior food from much friendlier people nearby. I've been going to Temptations for years - whenever I'm visiting family and in the Boston area. Usually it's good - but we ordered the egg scramble with spinach, feta and tomatoes and it was awful. Bland and watery. The toast on the side served luke warm with no butter or jam (jam is extra). When I mentioned the food was sub-par they were "sorry I wasn't enjoying my meal" but offered nothing in exchange. We spent more than $30 for breakfast for 2 (most of which ended up in the garbage). This place is very busy and it seems like the staff was swamped and had no time to care. In the past the owner was often there - I'd like to think he would have cared. I gave it 2 stars - a generous nod to better meals I've had there in the past. I'll try somewhere else next time. read more

I love this place for lunch!! It's kind of quiet on weekdays so it's great to go and get some work done. I had the prosciutto and fig panini, which had some other toppings that made for the perfect sweet and salty bite. I was so obsessed with this sandwich that I'm definitely coming back!! A nice pricey coffee shop gem in Coolidge Corner. I love the atmosphere of the place, clean, nice window stool seats for people watching, and gives you the benefit of soaking up some sun rays at the same time sitting there. Heck I even shazamed a song-Daughters by John Mayer. :) I had their breakfast sandwich on english muffin with sausage. You have the options of choosing turkey or bacon as well or a bagel for your sandwich. Heartier fillings egg wise compared to McD and the muffin was deliciously hot. The raspberry mango smoothie was lovely, you could really taste the fine seeds, perfect tinge of tangyness, though lacking on any hint on mango. $11 for this...steep. I could buy a panini soup combo with that at panera. *shrugs* Gotta try everything atleast once. It's busy in the morning. People were already camped out on their laptop at 10am. The lady who took my order said you didn't order that! I said perhaps you didn't hear me and could I order it now? She said that I would have to go back in a long line to reorder food that she missed. I don't know about you but... this sort of indifference to an order that she got wrong in the first place was completely unacceptable. The food is good. The staff is super nice and helpful. There's plenty of seating, even in the middle of a busy Saturday afternoon. Definitely definitely recommend for food, a coffee break, or just a chill place to work or even catch up with some friends! I came for lunch and was wowed by how yummy the Chicken Florentine Panini was. It was super flavorful and crunchy - and came with this bomb tomato-based dipping sauce that was pipin' hot and had me swooning. Trust me. You'll want this sandwich. I stayed for a few hours to study and was left super undisturbed. There was light chattering which was great for white noise. Great place for a casual bite - ample seating and the menu is a list of simple comfort foods. I ordered the chicken pesto panini and the bread was crisp and was not inundated with olive oil. The melted mozzarella provided the instant satisfaction factor and mellowed out the rather strong pesto. The chicken was moist and I found myself with an empty plate within 10 minutes. I'll continue to go here as long as I live in the area. There's another location closer to my office and I'm looking forward to trying that one as well in the near future. read more

Hands down the BEST mocha in Boston. This cute local cafe in Coolidge makes strong, flavorful espresso drinks, with friendly service. There is ample seating and it's never too crowded. Although the decor and furniture may be showing a bit of wear, there is still a cozy and homey atmosphere. Prices are similar to Starbucks/other specialty coffee shops, but it's well worth it for their mocha! I also tried their seasonal Lavender mocha but the lavender syrup/essence was way too overpowering and ruined the flavor of the drink. They also have a small selection of baked goods and a sandwich menu, which I have yet to try. I had to write a review for Temptations solely due to their delicious mocha. The cashier said we don't have sparkling water, but you can purchase it. I said, "Okay, they don't, and that's fine." I did nothing wrong to ask. There is never any harm in asking. One of the baristas or someone who works in the kitchen mocks me: "Oh, poor you, boo hoo. We don't have fancy sparkling water. Boo hoo. How tragic." This was highly uncalled for. Unprofessional. Temptations is solid. On all fronts, from food to coffee to service. Good: coffee is good, tea is good, sandwiches are good. Service is always kind and helpful. Average: prices are pretty normal for a nicer coffee shop. It's pretty spartan in the place, with some tables and dim lighting. It's actually really kinda fucking dark in there most of the time, even mid-day. Bad: It gets packed with college kids who take the T and sit there taking a seat with a $3 coffee for hours. It's not the best coffee locally, it's not the best food (but it's pretty good on both). It has tons of competition. If you live near here, it's a good place to grab a coffee and maybe a bit of food. I do wish they'd turn on a light or two, though. read more

HORRIBLE PLACE! I would not recommend this place to anyone. I ordered coffee not even 15 minutes later the coffee was so hot the bottom broke and spilled all over my sweater. Luckily, I did not burn myself nor did I get to try the coffee. Called the shop hour later to inform them and the manager has yet to call me back. For those like me have been hovering for an uncomfortable and often unavailable seat and who have been paying $10 for an hour of unreliable wifi at Peets in Coolidge Corner, let me say, we have been idiots. Temptations is just around the corner, spacious, has plenty of comfy seating, eclectic music at good sound level, nice staff, makes good lattes, nice tea selection, cheaper, offers more food options: - Panini's - I've had Tuna (a very light tuna melt), Cuban (not totally authentic, but the best tasting one I've had since NYC), Florentine (light and spinachy), prosciutto and fig (gorgonzola waaay overpowering), chicken pesto (pleasantly light), and ham/cheese (just plain incredible) - Baked goods - blah, not the freshest - Brownie is dryish but chips on top good, spinach pie dough is dry and pasty, but damn the congo bar is good! - Sweet temptations - LOVE, done perfectly!!! I eat one almost every day! - Pressed brioche sandwiches with goodies like bananas, nutella, PB, fig jam...dusted w/ powdery goodness ...and you know what, my wifi has FULL bars... for all freakin' afternoon. This place is a great spot to relax or spend a few hours doing work. It's not as crowded as other cafes in the area and there are usually seats available. I've gotten the chicken Caesar wrap which was pretty good. I've also had the tropical smoothie and chocolate chip cookie. I do not recommend the chocolate chip cookie. It tasted hard and chewy (not in a good way). It was more of a stale chewiness. I did get a cookie when there were only two left and later saw a bunch more coming out so maybe I got the leftovers of an old batch. H and I were in the Coolidge Corner area due to an elective ultrasound we decided to have done. The cafe is located on the very busy section of Coolidge Corner on Beacon. I called (the ultrasound place) ahead of time to find out the deets on parking... Yeah, you're parking on off-street. On a positive note, the "old school" meters take both coins AND cards. So those of you, like me, who never carry cash/change are in luck. It's $2 for two hours. When H and I walked into the cafe, we couldn't help but feel like it's a decent size spot for the area. It's also decently decorated in a modern, yet natural-looking... pieces. There were booths on either side with a long table in the center. On the upside, there were outlets everywhere I looked. Dangit. I should've brought my phone charger for my always-dead iPhone. There was a couple of specials listed on the chalkboard placed on the sidewalk. My H HAD to try Three Little Pigs Panini (or something like that)- it sounded too good to be true. After eating half his sandwich, he was relentless and admitted to was indeed too good to be true- that the sandwich was just ok. I REALLY wanted a prosciutto sandwich after reading the other reviews (next time!)... but I ordered a Cuban. My sandwich was awesome compared to H's. The pickle was tasty- and I do NOT like pickles. There were a number of sandwiches I wanted to try (tuna, cheddar and avocado, prosciutto and mozz, etc). When we're in the area next, we'll be sure to make the stop. read more
