Burned cherry danish. Pretty obvious
Donna H.

Went by this morning to pick up a croissant. They had no eggs or croissant sandwich. So I picked up a cherry danish. Got it home and it is burned. Shame on you Templeton donuts! You know when your food is burned and when it's not.

Donuts and peanut butter cookies.

I came by late morning and picked up a couple of donuts and cookies. I tried finding this place about 4 years ago but Google gave me bad directions so I tried again this time with no issues. It is sort of out of the way when your traveling north or south on 101 but I say it's worth it now. Templeton is a nice little community and is worth just walking around and enjoy the view. The donut shop itself is a cool looking building. Customer service is great, I asked questions and recommendations and gave me straight answers. I had an old fashioned maple donut and later ate a peanut butter cookie. It's rare to eat a real good homemade cookie especially peanut butter. They had some great looking quiches but I wanted to make sure the donuts and cookies were good. So I'll be back for the quiche when I come through this area.

There are some gimmicky donut places out there--but if you want classic donut crunch and softness and texture and flavor, just pure unadulturated sugary high, then this is the place for you. We usually go with the classics here, maple bar, chocolate bar, or glazed. Plus, the quiche is so good that I used poor judgement and ate the whole thing before I could take the photo...hence the styrofoam container photo--sorry, folks! But you should also try the ungodly monstrosity known as the cinnamon roll donut. It is white and wide. And. Delicious! It is easy to support this type of local place.

Everywhere my fiance and I go, we always try to find a donut shop! From artisan to mom and pop, we love them all. What actually stole the show though was a slice of the Spinach and Feta Quiche. It was creamy, but light. Melt in your mouth good. The donuts you could guess were also like little pillows of love. Get your classic donut fix her for sure. Super reasonably priced too. Staff was all very nice too. Great spot to checkout.

Pig Iron - Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich

The staff lacked…read moreknowledge about the cuisine, but are very friendly and kind. - My breakfast sandwich was absolutely delicious! The brioche bun was phenomenal! My bacon, egg and aïoli sauce all brought the sandwich together. It was delectable and filling. - I don't think you need to add the arugula to the sandwich. It gets wet and kind of limp. It draws away from the overall delicious and presentation. I appreciate that all of your to-go cases are paper. Thank you for being an environmentally friendly.

Maybe it is because we are watching "Yellowstone" on TV, but I was craving the flavor of the Old West, which can still be found in many places around SLO. We returned to Pig Iron Restaurant in Templeton, where we had dined about three years ago when they very first opened up! it was kind of bare and spacious our first time there. It was great to see how they have added to the space and now have room for multiple functions! There's a huge outdoor dining patio with a coffee pick up bar. There's a an indoor dining area where you order your food at a counter. There's also the Club Car Bar with its own separate room. I remembered that Pig Iron sando was good. My husband ordered the Pig Iron. I went for two smoked chicken, Cowboy Tacos, and our friend got a burger. We topped it all off with onion rings. It's the kind of place that you order at a counter in the Merchandise room, then take a buzzer to your table. We commandeered a large booth in the fairly small dining room. It has maybe eight or 10 tables. There is are a couple lounge chairs by the fireplace, which is very cozy on a cool day. By the time our food was ready, the dining room was full. That Pig Iron pulled pork sando is worth the trip! The meat is super tender, and the sauce is piquant and not too spicy. Topped with cole slaw, it is a perfect lunchtime meal. Burger was also nicely done kind of a smashed burger. The tacos were aptly named Cowboy Tacos, as I felt that they were gringo tacos. They were bland, since they didn't have sauce on them and the chicken was in tiny chunks and not shredded. The onion rings were crispy and fun to dunk in the Ranch dressing. We hunkered down cowboy style and enjoyed our meal, talking about about outer space and the moon trip while enjoying our food in the cozy ambience of an evocative historic setting!

Even though it was a 15 minute drive up the freeway from where I was, it was worth every minute. The downtown area this shop is in was really cool, plenty of parking, and the moment you walked into this coffee shop you could tell it was going to be good. Lots of space, people sitting and having conversations, and a greeting from the Barista the second I walked through the door. I went with my standard iced oat milk latte with honey and a triple shot and it was perfect. I wish I could have drank it there because the inside of the shop seemed like a place you could hang out for a while. Unfortunately, I had to take it on the road, but that is a shop (if I lived in that area) I would drive out of my way to get to. Well done guys!

To be fair, we did order a latte, so that is partly expected. The breakfast sandwich was good but a little underseasoned and could have used a bit more flavor overall. The chicken pesto sandwich was the standout. The pesto was well balanced and did not overpower the rest of the ingredients, which made the sandwich really pleasant to eat. Overall, everything was solid, though slightly pricey for the portion sizes. The food was good, but nothing especially memorable. Still, it is a nice stop if you are in the area.

Very nice local diner. Classic atmosphere and with excellent service and big portions!…read moreLoved the bottomless Boyd's coffee, can't beat black coffee at diners. Kid got his water in the paper cup:) Went for what seemed to show up on reviews the most. - Ranchero steak & eggs = the steak was tri tip, which was too chewy. It worked out once I started slicing thin pieces from it and it became tender enough to eat. * I think the correct choice is to pay more to get the 12oz NY steak and eggs instead, since tri tip just too chewy. The famous ranchero sauce was good, but quite spicy! Kept eating it despite getting heated from spice, since it added the flavors. - Chilaquiles supreme = chilaquiles was good, but the tri tip piece from the supreme upgrade made it too chewy and detracted from the base chilaquiles. * I think the regular chilaquiles would be the better choice to enjoy without distraction of tri tip pieces. Or maybe ask if can make the supreme with other protein choices maybe some chopped up bacon or sausage pieces instead if allowed to substitute? - The hash browns side was perfect and delicious! Definitely wins over the homefries option. - Cinnamon roll = huge and a meal on it's own. was too much after the 2 entree's The menu is so vast, I think it's a winner as long as you stay away from entrees with tr tips. I just went too all in on tri tips, lol. Would love to try again sticking to the diner classics of pork chops or chicken fried steak, or the ny steak and eggs, or any omelettes or burritos.
