I've been eating at Tee Jays Corner Cafe since it opened. Never have I had a bad meal or bad experience. Tee Jay and Chuck have always been welcoming and wanting to accommodate any dietary issue an individual might have. From the most delicious burgers and fries to amazing Indonesian food, I'm always happy I've chosen this corner cafe for a meal. In addition, they cater special events and Christmas dinners for the past five years have been unusual and delicious! Been here a few times. If you have not been to teejays you are really missing out. So unexpectedly delicious. And Teejay and the other guy working (cant remember his name) are so friendly. Tee Jays Corner Cafe is located in Cactus Jacks Casino. To my surprise and sheer delight the Thai food was delicious. Tee Jay prepared the order which was cooked and seasoned to perfection. I ordered the Pineapple Chicken Rice, the Wonton Soup and the Coconut Soup . The gentleman at the counter taking orders and serving was extremely friendly and polite. While I awaited patiently for my order I observed the kind server engaging with the patrons who were enjoying Tee Jays dishes and watching their orders being prepared by the talented Chef. This Corner Cafe is a hidden gem and I would recommend it to anyone craving authentic Thai food. This is my go to spot when in town. My faves are the Pad Thai and the Martabak. I'm kind of picky about my Pad Thai- as I've had it everywhere I go, including Bangkok- and it is spot on with that rich flavor profile! I went to this place because I wanted to try something new. I got the drunken noodles and it really disappointed. The noodles were dry and tasted like plain spaghetti. All I could taste was pepper. Maybe I have to be drunk to appreciate. Was expensive and portions are small. read more

This is a wonderful place inside Cactus Jack's. All the menu items we have tried have been delicious. Tonight it was red curry with chicken and mango and Pad Thai chicken. They did not disappoint. Tee Jay's Corner Cafe has served me well as a great take out option. That's mostly because I'm not a big fan of stale cigarette smoke that comes from the casino side of Cactus Jack's. I may change my mind on that, as its quite pleasant to sit at the counter and interacting with the owner while waiting for my order. I also like Indonesian food of which I developed a fondness when I was on several business trips to the Netherlands in the day. That speaks to the "Colonial" theory of finding good ethnic restaurants. Maybe that's why Indian food is so good on the UK? For those who just want a burger/fries and other "American" food, Tee Jay's has your boring culinary back. Past that, there's so much yummy and well prepared food to choose from! My favorites (so far) is anything stir fry or anything curry, usually with chicken. I've been cautious on the spice and I'm ready for a little more. Or as the saying goes: If I'm not crying, it's not curry. It's all delicious throughout. That said, I have 2 regrets: 1. It's a bit of a schlep to get here from Genoa, so my meal stops have been the "I happen to be in the neighborhood" variety. 2. Hours are somewhat limited: 10-2 and 4-8 weekdays, 4-8 on Saturdays, and closed on Sundays. Note: If Tee Jay's happens to be closed, my backup choices in Downtown Carson (with a couple blocks) would be Sumi Sushi and Basil Thai. read more

Had an amazing dinner. We weren't sure if we were going to stay because it's in a casino. I have bad asthma, so the smoke is hard on me. We sat at the far right side and it wasn't as bad there. The owner and Tee Jay were awesome. Very friendly and helpful. They described the menu and how spicy each item was. My husband ordered the cowboy steak and I tried the chicken sate cup. First time at Tee Jay's corner and it was awesome. Food: I ordered the Shrimp Mie Goreng and the Indonesian Fried Chicken. Both dishes were delicious! As a side note, the fried chicken is not your regular battered juicy fried chicken. It reminded me of a home cooked fried chicken in asia; simple and nostalgic. The staff mentioned that it was marinated for 24 hours! Ask for their hot sauce! Just be careful. It's awesomely spicy. Service: Great service! Staff was awesome. They check on the customers regularly and make sure they are taken care of. One of the friendliest kitchen I have visited recently. Ambiance: Walk inside the casino and look for the neon signs! Delicious!!! What a surprise finding this gem inside a casino. It's got a corner diner-like feel with stool chairs surrounding the counter. Very friendly and informative about the menu and its offerings. The starter of fried beef dumplings were good but a bit oily for my taste. For the main dish, I chose the drunken noodle, kung pao stirfry and the pad thai, all with beef. I loved the crispness of the vegetables and the distinctive Indonesian based flavors of tamarind and shrimp. The house made sambar paste was spicy but very flavorful with nice shrimp flavor and added that kick to these yummy dishes. The owner is very nice I will give that. The food was white mediocre- particularly since Indonesian food is one of my favorites, and yet these dishes lacked a punch of flavor. If I were to ever have a food business, it would be akin to this. It's small enough to get to know your customers, has limited hours so you as an owner don't burn out, and the food is phenomenal. Served atop perfectly cooked rice accompanied by broccoli and a potato. I also ordered Jasmine tea. Thirst quencher that did not need sweetener. Absolutely wonderful. The ambiance is casual. Super casual. It's counter-style in a local casino. My friend who brought me here made apologies -- but I didn't care that I was sitting in the middle of years old second hand smoke (ok, slight exaggeration, but you know what I mean!). Tldr: Food was good. Service and ambiance not so much. I did an online order to-go and they didn't have my order ready when I got there (I arrived ~10 minutes after the online order said it was ready). I had to wait another 20-30 minutes for them to make my order. If you want to try this place, just show up and order at the counter. Finally got a chance to try Tee Jays and have to review how tasty their food was. Tucked into the back of an older dark casino is this little gem of a restaurant. It's a little odd where it's at, but doesn't take anything away from the food or the service. Both workers were extremely friendly and you could tell how grateful and happy we came as first time customers to try. It was hard not to feel like they were family friends cooking for us at home. We even came a little before closing and said we'd do take out since it was later, but they were happy to have us dine in. The food was AMAZING! They had so many options for such a small space. I tasted the green curry and it is chock full of veggies and has a nice amount of protein. It comes with white flaky rice. Nothing spicy, salty or garlic heavy. You would never think this place would be where it's at. Don't let the location fool you. All the food is homemade from the sambal and hot sauce to the curry. I ordered the Nasi Goreng (fried rice) and the special of the day Mango Curry. The Nasi Goreng was a good portion size and tasted great. I'm Indonesian and live in Las Vegas, where there's no Indonesian restaurants at all, so Tee Jay's would be the closest to me and really glad to have them in a city where I travel for work.
