    The Schezuan Shrimp! Delicious!
    Anthony T.

We found this amazing gem by accident last night. We originally were heading to another establishment and saw Yangs Kitchen and thought wow let check this place out. We have been wanting to find a good Chinese restaurant anyway. So in we went and were seated immediately. The inside is clean and has that old restaurant vibe. We got a nice window seat and given menus. They have quite an extensive selection of food. But we decided to have the dinner special which comes with the a main dish and your choice of steamed or fried rice. An egg roll fried shrimp and a cream cheese rangoon. Also a cup of soup. All for about 14$. In fact it looked like most of their items are in that price range. That's a good deal considering they are located in downtown Carson City. Albeit they are one street over from the main drag. I chose the Schezuan shrimp and my wife for the Schezuan beef. Both with fried rice. They weren't very busy so the food arrived pretty quickly. Not only did it look amazing but was so savory. Not too spicy but just enough. In all we paid about 33$ for the whole meal. Can't beat that. I can't wait to come back and try another item from their menu. I want to try their House Chow Mein. As we were leaving I noticed they have a sushi bar in an adjoining room. I definitely will be trying that soon! Definitely give this place a try if you haven't already.

Small restaurant that offers a really good selection of Chinese food. The place is small but can accommodate a party of 10. The staff were friendly. We enjoyed selecting from their lunch/dinner menu. It was reasonably priced and I came out of it full with still extra food to go. Their dim sum menu was small, but the kids like the pork buns and egg custard buns.

I haven't ordered pot stickers here in awhile, cause I just thought they weren't worth it with the prices keep going up. They're $12 for 6 pot stickers now. Well, I broke down the other day and ordered them as appetizers with other entree's. OMG! The pot stickers have gotten way better than they used to be. They used to be decent, but now the size has gotten bigger and the skins thinner and more filling inside. I know they actually make them here at the restaurant from scratch, so it's not just another vendor, I'm gonna say OK, now they're worth the $12 per order of 6. They're are better than any other pot sticker I've had in Carson or Reno. I just hope the next time I order these they're the same as I just had! Give them a try! I also tried another thing I've not had here in a long time, the Singapore Noodles. ($16) We ordered it with BBQ pork cause my friend can't eat shrimp. That's actually a quite tasty choice instead of just plain chicken. This version here is the best Chinese version I've had anywhere around here.

Let start off with the value. We had the lunch special for under $10. If you have read any of my posts you know I am a stickler about temperature. The food here hits it out of the box. Everything is freshly made to order including the appetizer egg roll and wonton. The food is good. The service was good as well. The place is a little strange as is shares some space with the Japanese place next store. It only seats about 20 people and is fairly clean. We will probably visit here again.

It serves both Sushi and Chinese food. The service was nice and efficient, the prices were inexpensive and the food was generous and decent. Lunch specials were offered and they were real bargains. We ordered: 3*Wor Wonton Soup: lots of wontons and vegetables, enough for a meal. 3*Shrimp Egg Fu Young: the portion was big. It came with three big patties. They were crispy and light. It was really nice that the sauce was served on the side instead of pouring over. 3*Mixed Vegetable: stir fry of Bok Choy, broccoli, carrots and mushrooms. Per normal. 3*Roasted Duck: even 1/2 Duck seemed a lot. The portion was big, and they were good.

Had another spectacular meal at Yangs! The duck was superb, the shrimp dumplings were deelish and the seafood combo was very nice and not oily. Yang always has a smile on his face when he brings the food to our table ... maybe because he knows we will love it. What more can I say... great food, great service and comfortable seating.

    33. Beef Vegetable, hot sour soup, egg rolls and crab ragoon
    Michael G.

Had the Beef Vegetable. Was the same meat as the one in beef broccoli. There were carrots, bamboo shoots, broccoli, cabbage, and onion or it was the cabbage bc of the way it was cut. It could have used more flavor Egg rolls were very crispy yet super greasy. Fried wanton was okay, seemed cold as it's possible it was previously cooked. Opted for fried rice instead of white and I liked it. Had Hot Sour Soup, it lived up to its name tasting sour, not in a bad way...it's hot sour soup!

Outside. Next door is a sushi place but different owners.

It's not the besssssst, but for Tahoe and what Tahoe has to offer, it's good. We ordered the Pan Fried Pork Bun $15.95 & Beef Brisket Noodle Soup $18.95. Kind of pricey I'd say, and like Bay Area pricing, however for the price the portions were pretty big. We came in hungry and still had a little bit left over. The pan fried pork bun was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, a little bit much on the bun portion to meat ratio. The beef brisket noodle soup was the Star of the show for us! Mildly spicy, noodles were bouncy chewy and soft, all the flavors mixed well together especially when adding the vinegar into it! You must add the vinegar, it makes it so much better! Located in the main area of South Lake Tahoe near the heavenly gondola. If you need the dim sum/Chinese food fix while in Tahoe, this is not a bad spot!

Basically $35 for 1 order of soup dumplings and 1 order of hot and sour soup. Dumplings were oooookay. Was a little disappointed the only sauces they offered were soy sauce and sriracha packets, but again that's on me for ordering takeout. There might have been more options for dine in as I'm used to an actual chili sauce. Hot and sour soup was not my fav. Definitely had a little kick but was missing the sour in my opinion. Flavor and veggies were pretty basic. Location is convenient, my order was ready by the time I walked across the street, and it would probably satisfy a craving? But pretty expensive for what you get and overall underwhelming

It was tofu and cauliflower. The tofu chunks were enormous and they were nicely seared on all sides. The sauce was flavorful and the veggies including cabbage were perfectly cooked. Well I may not have recognized the first time I came in is that their noodles appear to be udon! they were not open as I write this review so I couldn't call them but I did take a picture and give it to My BFF, "gemini" the trustee AI from Google: Gemini says: "1. Shanghai Style Thick Noodles (Cu Mian) This is the most likely culprit. In many Chinese "hot table" or buffet settings, they use a thick, wheat-based noodle called Cu Mian (literally "thick noodles"). * The Look: They are cylindrical and chewy, very similar to Udon. * The Difference: They are often a bit more "al dente" or dense compared to the bouncy, slippery texture of Japanese Udon. * Terminology: Even though they are thick, restaurants often label them "Chow Mein" simply because that's the term customers recognize for any fried noodle dish. 2. Lo Mein Noodles While most people associate Lo Mein with a medium-thickness flat noodle, some regional variations use a significantly thicker, rounder version. Because these are wheat-based and have absorbed that dark soy-based sauce, they can easily be mistaken for Udon. 3. "Frozen" or "Instant" Udon It is actually quite common for modern Chinese fusion spots to use Japanese Udon noodles because they hold up exceptionally well in a steam table (the "gizmo" you mentioned). They don't get mushy as quickly as thinner egg noodles, making them a practical choice for restaurants. How to tell for sure? If you want to investigate further without a language barrier, you can check the "bite": * Udon: Will be very white on the inside if you bite it in half, with a very springy, almost gummy "mochi-like" bounce. * Shanghai Noodles: Usually have a slightly more yellowish tint (even without eggs) and a firmer, more doughy center." so biting Intuit I do see a white center but then again I don't know if I've tried the other noodle types above so it could be. Whatever the case the experience is that of an udon noodle in my uneducated experience. I wrote another review for Jade Garden that goes into a little more detail and expands to talk about the ambience, which I describe as tight but cozy seating, over here on Nextdoor: https://nextdoor.com/p/pBwBSFyPjn42

It wasn't very busy when we got here, but people started filtering in once we ordered. I'm not sure how much the soup was, but my total with tax was $41.33. The wonton soup did take a lil bit to make, about 15 mins, so keep in mind if ordering. Portions are huge! With the current shrinkflation, this is a welcome change. Everything in our 3 item combos were flavorful and tasty. I did ask for hot oil to add to my dishes, so if you like things spicy, I'd recommend you do the same. The soup was disappointing tho. Still having some money left on our gift card, we decided to give them another chance on January 10. We got there about 6:30pm. We decided to sit at the bar. Again, lots of DoorDash people were waiting for orders. Our server took our order a few minutes after we sat down. Our appetizers arrived very quickly. They were quite tasty. And then we waited. And waited. And waited. The bartender kept checking on our order and kept telling us it would be out shortly. At 8 o'clock, we told the bartender we were done waiting and that we were leaving. I also told him that wasn't acceptable. He tried to explain as best he could but, in all honesty, how can you explain making someone wait an hour and a half for their dinner? I will say, he comped our meals which I thought was very decent. I'm not sure if their kitchen gets overwhelmed with DoorDash orders or whether they are shortstaffed. I just know our two experiences there were less than satisfying. The food was good. I'm just not sure I will go back. If you go on a weekend, be prepared to wait.
