Came here on a whim because they were open and I noticed that the line wasn't too long. The menu is on the wall and when you get to the cashier, it's on the counter as well. You can get the pre-set items, there's a good amount of choices or you can make your own. The cost of one is about $5-$7, depending on what you get and what toppings you add. I ordered three drinks for me and the hubs to share. I ordered the Thai tea (light ice and you can't adjust the sweetness, classic cream), lychee on lychee (light ice and half sweet) and white crystal (light ice and half sweet). The Thai tea was a bit sweet to me but I'm glad that they added a good amount of cream or milk so that it was well balance. Also the boba had a good chewy on it, not hard. The white crystal and the lychee had good amount of sweetness. Not overly sweet. The toppings were standard but not plentiful but that's okay. I rather have tea than toppings. One thing that bothered me was that nothing was labeled but since I ordered signature drinks, I could tell what was what. But now I wonder if I ordered items that were quite similar, would I just have to play the guessing game? In any case, it doesn't take away from the product, just an observation. Overall, I would come back and order other flavors so I can try out their full menu and figure out what I like and don't like. Glad they are now in 4SRanch! I've been waiting for Teaspoon to come to San Diego and it's finally here!!! Teaspoon has always been one of my personal favorites boba places because of their flavors and quality. I visited Tastea in 4S Ranch a few days before their grand opening. There was already a fair bit of people, though it didn't take very long to get our drinks. I found the location to be a bit random though I think that means boba is gonna become more common towards north county as well :) I usually get their taro here because they use fresh taro. I recently tried their silky mango and strawberry drinks, and they were also both great! They only have one size for drinks and a fairly limited, but somewhat unique menu. They also do fully custom drinks and they have a list at the register for which flavors they have. The service here is so good. Again, didn't have to wait long even though we had a fair number of groups ahead of us and the staff are always so nice! Definitely going to be frequenting teaspoon! read more

Tried a new tea boba spot in 4S Ranch. We were fortunately able to be amongst the first 100 customers so we received a glass and free drinks. I chose the grasshopper tea with lychee jelly and boba with 25 percent sugar. I'm so glad that I was able to adjust the sweetness sugar amount, as their drinks are more in the sweeter side. New boba shop located in 4S commons shopping plaza. Definitely highly anticipated in the area as the nearest good boba is in Mira Mesa. It is still the soft opening period but all of their drinks are available. I have come twice with my partner and we were able to try 4 different drinks. This is a solid boba shop franchise location and they have a good variety of flavors and no caffeinated and nondairy/dairy alternatives. Also they have the most topping options I have ever seen at a boba shop, definitely check out the counter before deciding. In addition to drinks they sell some merchandise like cups and reusable boba straws, hopefully they will be able to make drinks in these containers. Their speed of getting drinks out was reasonable for the midafternoon and when accounting for the soft opening. There are also a few tables for small groups of people to hang out. Overall would recommend the strawberry colada for something creamy and refreshing. I enjoyed the black sugar assam but was disappointed that the drink was very sweet at the bottom and not well mixed, I would recommend turning it over and shaking prior to putting in the straw. The staff inside were absolutely killing it, the lady at the front counter kept a cheerful attitude the entire night. I just went with the House Milk Tea as it seemed like the easiest option and I usually attempt to compare it with all the other bubble tea places I have gone to. Their milk tea was really creamy! The wait was a little bit longer given that it was a weekend, the flavor of the drink was much better overall, though the associate didn't ask me for a level of sweetness or amount of ice, and I felt like I needed to be specific. I don't live local and I wanted to try a new boba place that we don't have back in my hometown. My boyfriend and I were excited to see the bamboo glass tumbler, so we just chose to go here but unfortunately, was too expensive. I'd buy one if the "teaspoon" brand wasn't on it honestly. Teaspoon has been open in 4S Ranch for a little under a month and I feel like it's been a blessing from the Gods LOL. So glad that there are more boba shops opening in the northern parts of SD County! I have been about 3 times and each time my drinks have been pretty good. One time, I did feel like my drink was not sweet enough and the baristas helped me remake the drink to my liking. As a patron of Teaspoon in Northern California and at the Sawtelle locations before, I was glad to find that the drinks taste pretty much the same as I remember them. I would say a huge plus is that their default creamer for a lot of drinks is lactose free! Which is great because as a lactose intolerant person, I dislike changing the milk in my boba as it changes the taste of the drink sometimes. My favorites have to be the Liquid Gold, the White Crystal, and the Creamy Jasmine. They have a ton of different toppings to choose from in their toppings bar right off to the side so definitely peruse them prior to making your order. I liked the strawberry heart jelly (tastes like strawberry and has a good jelly consistency!) and the crystal boba. I will caveat that two of the times I went, there was a bit of a wait due to crowd influx and schoolkids getting out. However, the workers were definitely trying their best to get out drinks in a timely manner as well as addressing concerns from any customers. We really half star options...this is closer to 3.5 stars? There's a self service kiosk and staff available to help take your order. Ordered the House Milk Tea 50% sugar with coffee jelly (~$7-8). The beverage was made v quickly, prob like 5 mins. It was quick considering the rest of my party's drinks took a little longer (5-10 min later or so). My drink was still pretty sweet. Coffee jelly was good, milk tea was mediocre. I like more tea to milk ratio and there was definitely more milk in this. I didn't hate the drink..but definitely didn't care to drink this after a couple of sips. this also isn't my first time here. I also didn't care for my first visit, forgot what I got (that's how little of an impression it made on me). There's just so many boba options now that driving this inland for me just isn't worth it. Update: The owner was very responsive to our compliant and was receptive to feedback. I will continue to keep going to teaspoon because I think they do have great drinks. Coming back a second time after this event, they seemed to have retaught staff on how to properly prepare the drinks. I'm very happy teaspoon has joined the SD boba community. I am from the Bay Area and have been a fan of teaspoon for years. I know they just opened so they are probably still figuring out the quirks, but we ordered a no ice cold drink and got served a hot one because it was no ice and had to explain to the barista how to make it. Then after we got the right drink it was only 3/4 full because it was no ice? But I have been to several locations of teaspoon and this has never happened before. Even the last time we visited this location it did not happen. We talked with the shift lead about this but she confirmed it was again due to no ice. Not great for customer service not to mention that my boyfriend use to work at teaspoon before so unless that policy suddenly changed, i don't know why this was served to us. Also these are 6$ drinks, it's not cheap, it's not that much more to just fill the whole drink entirely. read more

The black tea is mid at best and tasted like water and sugar I highly don't recommend the classic milk tea or the brown sugar assam do not waste your money on this fr the only good thing about it was the boba itself. Finally came back after a while since they first opened. I was so excited to see teaspoon open in SD! They definitely have a unique menu compared to all of the other boba shops here. The first couple of times I came when they first opened, some friends and I tried almost everything on the menu haha. They were still brand new so there were a lot of issues with the sugar levels (for example not being sweet at all even at 100% for the black sugar boba) and the employees not really knowing how to answer questions. No biggy! We gave it a couple months and finally came back. This time we got the caramel cream boba and the silky mango with egg pudding. The caramel cream tastes just like a brown sugar boba milk! The boba was cooked perfectly and was flavorful. The silky mango is my favorite drink here. It tastes like the mango pudding you'd get at a dim sum restaurant! I don't think you can adjust the sugar levels for these two drinks (it didn't give the option online). These drinks weren't as sweet as the norm for other shops but still sweet enough. It was just perfect for our taste! We ordered these online and picked up in store so it was easy and fast. Can't wait to come back and try the other drinks again! read more

Excellent drinks! My wife and I visited Teaspoon on a Saturday afternoon for the first time and didn't know what to expect. As we approached the store we saw the line of eager patrons patiently waiting to place their orders. The line stretched beyond the confines of the store out into the patio area. Our first thought was, "Wow this place must be good." It really was! The wait was short, despite the long line and we were greeted by smiling faces waiting to take our order. The cashier was really helpful in helping us choose a fitting drink for us. We went with the caramel cream and the strawberry matcha royale...both awesome. So nice to see a boba/milk tea place not far from da humble abode. Senior G and my nephew Senior M have gone here first. Senior G said that this place is just OK. He's the most critical human I know. Senior M liked it there I suppose as he has a longer trek to get there. Maybe he was checking out one of the girls working there. He is single ladies! I've been over a few times already. Some of them while waiting on my take out order at the dumpling or that sea salt place. These guys do pretty well, with a near constant stream of customers. They take your order quickly and then you wait. It's made to order you know. If you're not there to receive, they place you order in da frig. I noticed that some of the customers were ordering on an app and duhhh there were signs for their app pretty much in yo' face when you come in. I delayed uploading it thinking I don't come here enough. But, alas! I caved. It's so much better ordering your drink online. At the counter, I usually feel pressure to hurry TF up. I can decide at my leisure exactly what I want. There be a lot of options (ice amounts, boba, toppjngs, popping pearls, etc ) So the app enables you to get it exactly how you want you drink. So far, all the milk tea/drinks I have offered were tasty and I had figured out how I's like things, the next time I order. Why only 4 stars you stingy ass?
