Tasty mango strawberry lemonade, quick service very sweet drink def recommend.. just kind of a chill place

I expected better although it's just at the mall food court. Came here during the summer and while in line, I overheard the employee tell the customer in front of us that they ran out of boba. Hearing that made us leave the line. Recently tried again and got the Mango Lychee milk tea. A little awkward since the employee just looked at me without saying hi first, expecting me to just order. He was nice after that tho. The milk tea was good but the boba was still hot in my drink and surprised me when I drank it. Not impressed especially for $7 read more

Okay, I'm not someone that will leave a bad review without any explanation or suggestions of what I could see to improve. In my experience of trying to retry my visits and giving them second and third chances and fourth chances, for one the flavoring of the drinks is very artificial. On top of that, all the drinks are wayyyy too sweet, so overly sweet it's too much and the flavor of the drinks is just so sugary that it takes away from the element of its natural tea. I've tried multiple drinks and faced the same experience, maybe if there were different ways to make the drinks that involves different recipes or different amount of sweeteners that would be beneficial but even altering sugar to a lower setting doesn't help so maybe just the way the drink is made entirely may be something that could help. read more

Tea Monks is consistent and delicious! Employees are always friendly and the service is fast. I've never had a problem here whether it be with an order or employee. I really hope they hang on since this mall has been going through so many changes. They're one of the last few good places to grab a drink there. read more

First time to this place, it's in the food court area of the north county fair mall. They have a big menu here, lots of options. I'm taking a star off because the service was a little slow, only one guy was taking orders and making them, but I saw three other workers in the store walking around; not sure what was going on there. Once I placed my order it came out fast which was nice. Also the line was so long it was in the walk way of the food court area. Ambiance was not great. My drink was very good though, fresh boba pearls which I liked they were soft and chewy. Overall I'm glad I tried this place, I'd come back again & maybe try something different. read more

So happy there's a boba shop in the mall to get my fix in while running errands! Staff is friendly, patient and knowledgeable of all the different items. Drinks are also served pretty quick too! Extensive menu, with both caffeinated and non caffeinated options. Some items are a bit sweet and I definitely think most drinks are still great at 50% sugar levels, but I also personally don't like super sweet drinks. I have had a variety of their drinks, and my personal favorites are any of their lemonades, the Thai tea (regular and green) and the classic milk tea. read more

Saw their sign near Cheesecake Factory and wanted to give it a try. Menu was eye catching. They just opened for the day, so no line. I ordered a matcha milk with strawberry crystal Boba. It looked like Christmas in a cup and was very good! Two employees behind the counter were nice but spoke very quietly. Almost shy like so I had to strain a little to hear them. They have really huge bobas, but the quality in taste is not as good as other places I've been too. The boba tasted bad, not soft like most places I've been to. It was chewy, just not the right mouth feel. It was too sweet for my friend, but maybe he wasn't aware of a sugar adjustment he could have made. It's at a food court at the mall so there is a lot of places to sit and enjoy your beverage. I would recommend Teaspoon or Daboba versus this place. read more

Not even halfway thru my drink I got food poisoning. Let me tell you about the experience First of all, it's halfway through the mall ON THE THIRD FLOOR. The drink? Over half full of ice, the tapioca was unsweetened, the jelly was icky. The tea, let me tell you. I got strawberry milk tea.. Shoulda been called strawberry milk pee. SO NASTY! Like sweetened piss literally. So I got in the car on my 7 hour road trip. SEVEN. So I got this in the first maybe 15 min of the drive. And started drinking my stuff. Grooooooosssss. So I poured out a bit of the tea, and took out all the ice too. Not even halfway through the drink LEFT from me pouring and scooping out the ice, I get pain in my stomach, and I get nauseous... Guess what. I puked almost two whole gallon ziplocs full. FULL. Puked up the boba pearls too. Tasted grosser going in than out tho, not gonna lie. DONT GET THIS IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR DIGNITY. I needed dramamine and pepto. And still puked too. Service was fine, she took like 10 mins to make the nasty crap I was served, and my mom's microwaved empanada. The drinks shown on the menu have boba or popping pearl toppings, but the prices listed are for base drinks that do not contain what is shown. Instead you pay extra for the toppings. Felt like a bait and switch. The carmel macchiato drink was HORRIBLE (and I love coffee drinks). We also ordered the honeydew tea and that one was delicious. All three stars are purely thanks to that honeydew tea and the pleasant staff working there today. read more

I love boba drinks and I've had them in many places throughout SD. Unfortunately this is the worst one so far. Strawberry smoothie wasn't made with real strawberries and very strong artificial flavor. The brown sugar boba wasn't made very sweet. The syrup sank to the bottom and not mixing well with the tea (not real tea). Their ice cream was good though but they didn't make them in house. I was at North County Mall and wanted to grab some dinner at the food court. I saw Tea Monks and couldn't pass up an opportunity to try a new boba spot. I ordered the Zen Thai Milk Tea. It wasn't prepared as quickly as I thought, especially with it being just me another person there but it was fine. Overall the drink was just okay. It wasn't bad but wasn't anything crazy either. Possibly tasted a little watered down. It is nice that there's a boba place at the mall now if you're craving some while shopping. Though I personally would wait to grab some elsewhere. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to see different flavors I've never heard of before so my friend I tried some of them. We tried the Mango Lychee Milk Tea and the Green Thai Tea! Tea Monk is located inside the North County Mall's dining court. It's easy to locate and there are plenty of parking spaces at the mall parking lot. Since it is located in the dining hall, there are plenty of seating areas as well. I tried the 33 oz mango strawberry tea without the boba. They had 3 different sizes of drink which is surprising to see since most places only do 2, mainly the regular and large. But not here. I bought the 33 oz and it is perfect for sharing! The tea is very refreshing! Its not too sweet and they put a reasonable amount of ice too. The strawberry ice cream is a bit smaller than expected, but it is pretty good, we got the strawberry flavored ice cream and it is sandwiched with a green macaron cookies. The service here is pretty good, the girl that helped me at the cashier was pretty friendly and efficient at her job. The ambiance is consistent of any food court, very casual, lots of space to sit and hang out. read more

We frequent North County Mall often and after grabbing dinner at Red Robin we decided to skip dessert and find something sweet elsewhere in the mall. I always see the signs for Tea Monks so I thought to give it a try. The service was great, I inquired about the Green Thai Milk Tea and the cashier had me try a little bit of it first before purchasing. My husband got the strawberry matcha which was delicious but I need to get my own matcha to truly comment on it. I have high expectations for matcha from cafe maiko and em Coffee house. I enjoyed my green Thai milk tea drink and I love the cute little monk on the cup. I didn't get to try the boba but the lychee boba that my husband got was yummy and not too sweet.
