The best coffee I've had lately in San Diego And I also bought beans to make at home -- the flavor is absolutely amazing. So smooth, rich, and honestly one of the best coffees I've had in a long time.

Super cool quiet coffee shop. Small but really good coffee and fresh baked goods. Cinnamon roll was fire for the kidos in addition the chocolate croissant needed more chocolate. Not sure if pastries were baked there but tasted fresh. Service was quick and friendly. A but pricy but delicious and tasty

My only disappointment is I didn't know about this place earlier! What a lovely off the beaten path coffee house! Clean, great service, plenty of tables to work or enjoy friends on an outing. Outside seating as well and dog friendly. I think I found my new writing and coffee outing establishment. Staff are friendly with patrons and each other which to me means they are happy to be there which means the work environment is fair and pleasant. I will be glad to become a regular for a business that is an anchor in the community.

I just popped in for for a quick coffee and pastry, I have been here once before and enjoyed it, the people were friendly and it's a really cute place. There is seating outside, seating inside, they have a really cool logo and what appears to be a robust menu. The ambience here was still pretty cool, however the staff here on this day was really not friendly, not unfriendly, but not very welcoming. The coffee itself was highly milky tasting, and the light ice had ice all the way up to the top. The pastries were warmed for us which was great, however they did not have much filling in them. At this price point, this experience was nothing special.

The coffee was decent. They were out of a lot of things even though we went not that late in the day. The bread was good. I'm sorry. The sando is a BACON lettuce tomato. How are you going to make the worst thing about the Sando the bacon? It was 100% the microwave kind, and 2 pieces of it at that. It was gross. Otherwise. Cute place.

Couldn't get past the cleanliness issue. The visible dust buildup on the pastry case made it hard to trust the overall sanitation standards.

My wife and I woke up wanting to try something new today, so we went to grab some breakfast at James Coffee. There's indoor and outdoor seating, and the restaurant had plenty of seating for both. The inside was very minimal with a nice clean esthetic. They also offer free wifi, which makes for a great place to get some work done. The pastries and other food items are displayed behind a glass and labeled making got easy ordering. We ordered a Ham and Cheese Bear Claw and James Breakfast bagel. The Ham and Cheese Bear Claw was very simple, honestly just ham and cheese, nothing special but enough to satisfy you. The James Breakfast Bagel had a Chipotle mayo on it, which caught my attention. soni ordered it on an Everything Bagel. The bagel was very small for $14.. and when I took my first bite.. the Chipotle mayo was very spicy. There were chili flakes and other spices added to it that were way too overpowering that i couldn't take the Chipotle. All the spice is absolutely not needed. Chipotle is a darn good flavor, and if done right, it could make for a great Chipotle mayo. I took too bites before I couldn't stand the heat around my mouth, very disappointing for what we paid. Overall, James Coffee is a very cute spot but not worth the money to me. I dont think I'll be back.

Cute small cafe with lots of seating. Not sure if there is WiFi but looks like a nice place to study. The staff is super nice. The drinks are poor tasting. We ordered a matcha latte, one with lavender and also sweetened. The matcha quality is so poor and the added flavor you don't even taste it. Basically if you want ice with milk that's what you're getting. Also the flavor of the chai is weak. Wanted to like this place but after tasting the drinks I will not be coming back

James coffee downtown in Little Italy was one of my favorite coffee stops for when I was in that neighborhood. Recently I found out that they are in my backyard here in Escondido. Came in today and ordered an Iced Flat White and happy to report that the coffee up here is just as good as the one downtown. The espresso was well extracted and the resulting flat white was tasty! They also have some baked goods in the shop if you want to pair a pastry with the coffee. Glad to see a specialty coffee shop open here in Escondido.

I've never had an issue the times I've visited. The staff were helpful and accommodating when I needed more sugar or extra flavors in my latte. The pastries have always been good but they sell out fast so I have to go right when they open to get my faves. Prices aren't super expensive as a lot of cafes nowadays. The place itself is spacious and always clean. I'd go more often but the list of drinks and food items feel limited when compared to other spots. Their coffee bean bags are some of my go to gifts for my coffee lover friends :)

A quick stop for morning coffee turned into a lucky experience for my little leprechauns this St Patrick's Day. We ordered the holiday special (Irish cream lattes) along with two perfectly warmed pastries. While waiting for our order, my kiddos enjoyed the quiet and peaceful ambiance; the shop had holiday coloring pages and markers available to keep the tiny humans happy. Our food and drinks were delivered quickly and absolutely delicious. The service was the icing; what an awesome start to our day! Five star shop with five star staff. PS: Thank you so much for the cute hot chocolate cup!!

Is there any nearby public parking that isn't street parking?

Yes, there is a free public parking lot only two blocks away from the coffee shop. It is located on W valley parkway and N Juniper St (2 min walking distance). I hope this answers your question.

Both drinks come with an actual slice of tiramisu on top, which surprised me, l thought it would be more like a tiramisu flavored drink with hojicha or matcha mixed in. The tiramisu itself is really good, but personally I don't think it goes well with the drink. The texture of the cake while sipping the latte feels a little off. I also tried the nitro Vietnamese coffee. It was unusual because when you hear "Vietnamese coffee" you expect something strong, but this one was light and you can really taste the milk. I really enjoyed the bubble waffle series-especially the Oreo one. It's really good. The honey toast series was okay, nothing special. I got the honey toast with ice cream, and I remember honey toast being crispy but still easy to eat. This one wasn't crispy at all and the bread was tough. Overall, this place is reall good for matcha drinks.

The Service: The staff greeted me promptly and took my order without any issues. They were polite and efficient, although a little busy amongst themselves. The Coffee: Unfortunately, the latte was the biggest drawback--it tasted quite bitter and over-extracted. I'd love to make this my "regular" neighborhood spot, but the coffee quality needs to be more consistent for that to happen. The Atmosphere: It's a quiet environment, which was good for productivity. Great location and friendly service, but I'm hoping the espresso improves!

While the selection was respectable, there were not many particularly unique offerings. Most leaned heavily toward familiar vanilla or chocolate based profiles. The staff was generous with samples and allowed me to try as many flavors as I wanted, but unfortunately none of the three that caught my attention truly impressed me. The espresso was perhaps the weakest rendition I have encountered. It lacked both the boldness and aroma that make coffee flavored ice cream appealing. Whether the espresso itself was too diluted or simply not brewed strongly enough, the flavor struggled to make any impact. The stracciatella featured a straightforward milk base studded with chocolate shards. While this was a very traditional interpretation without unnecessary additions, the ice cream lacked the richness and depth needed to carry such a simple flavor profile. The chocolate provided texture, but the base itself felt flat. The sour cream and brown sugar ended up being my favorite of the three, largely because the brown sugar was actually distinguishable. The sour cream contributed an unusual tanginess that made the flavor more interesting, though the balance was inconsistent. Some bites highlighted the warm sweetness of the brown sugar, while others tasted predominantly of sour cream, creating a combination that occasionally felt at odds with itself. I appreciated that the small size included two flavors, and the employee serving me was generous with the scoops. Still, this ended up being a fairly forgettable stop. Those who enjoy gelato with bold, inventive, or highly concentrated flavors may find the offerings here a bit too restrained.
