Popped into the Good Source Cafe in Escondido while working today. I ordered a classic matcha latte--they serve theirs with maple syrup, which I tend to prefer over simple syrups or other sweeteners. The matcha itself was pretty good. Not the best I've ever had but definitely solid. It was smooth, well-balanced, and had just the right amount of milk and maple syrup. The shop itself is very lively, especially for 11:00am on Tuesday. Lots of patrons, friends chatting, people working remotely, etc. Layout and aesthetic are simple but effective. It feels open and airy. Staff are very nice and upbeat. Overall, a nice spot for a pick-me-up or to chill. read more

I'm rarely in Escondido, but I'd come back just for this spot! There's lots of seating if you're planning to catch up with friends or work, plus such cute merch if you're into that. The employees were all so sweet too! We ordered the iced classic matcha latte and the salted maple latte. I like to order a classic matcha to get a taste for it, and their matcha was great quality. I have friends who live near this place and I've been talking about it for a while and I totally understand why I was only here for a little bit, but was impressed. I got the tiramisu latte, which is recommended by my friends and it did not disappoint. It was really really good! I also got some bacon and egg bites that were good. After the first sip, absolutely worth the hype. The matcha had a vibrant color and tasted smooth and earthy without being bitter, which tells me they're using quality matcha. Pleasantly surprised by how much I liked their matcha here! Everything else fell short tho. I visited on a Saturday morning with a friend and the line was out the door. Limited parking. The employees were friendly and seemed to know a lot of customers. I ordered a regular matcha latte and a pandan croissant. We were able to get a table inside and it seemed like a lot of people were working. The matcha came out quickly and it was really good quality! Very strong and not too sweet. Pretty sure they forgot my pastry though, it took a while for it to come out and it wasn't even warm when I asked for it to be toasted. I recognize the pastries from other cafes in the area so I know they don't make them in house, but the croissant was not good - it wasn't fresh, the pandan was artificial, and difficult to eat. Normally, I'm a fairly regular customer and visit about once a month. Unfortunately, this visit wasn't a great experience. My husband purchased our drinks and a cookie to go, and we waited about 5-10 minutes for our order. When we went to pick up our drinks, the cashier informed us that they had accidentally sold the cookie we had already purchased to another customer who was behind us in line. My husband was really disappointed since he had been looking forward to it. While this may have just been an off day, it was frustrating to pay for an item that was then given to someone else. I hope the business implements a better system for tracking baked goods that have already been purchased so this doesn't happen to other customers. We have enjoyed coming here, so it was disappointing to have an otherwise pleasant visit end this way. read more

A neighborhood coffee shop with excellent coffee and matcha drinks. My husband and I have visited multiple times and usually visit around 7-9am. The service is friendly and we love their recommendations. A few favorites are the strawberry matcha, the dulce de leche latte with pumpkin cold foam, and the cinnamon bun. This is a nice space to come and catch up with a friend or do some work in Escondido! There's a good amount of seating without feeling crowded in the space. Service was friendly and they were playing throwback songs that brought up all the nostalgia. i have yet to find a better coffee shop in escondido and i honestly don't know if it would be possible. i go here all the time and its always amazing. i prefer their matches but the coffees are great as well. i love that they make their syrups in house and always have delicious seasonal options. my favorites are the mango coconut matcha which is currently a seasonal option and the banana matcha which is year round. both of those cold foams are genuinely to die for which is what inspired me to write this review because i wish i currently had a full cup of coconut foam. the service is also always wonderful and the ambiance is great as well. the price can feel a little steep like $8.50 for a matcha latte but honestly all of the pros outweigh that one con. especially knowing its a specialty handcrafted latte with everything homemade. read more

Good Source coffee has become one of my favorite places to grab a matcha as a non-coffee drinker. Their matcha here is ceremonial grade and their syrups are made in house--all very delicious. I typically opt for the matcha einspanner here. They have a fairly large parking lot outside so parking shouldn't be a problem. The inside is also fairly large, though many people end up sitting and staying, making it a bit more crowded inside. It does just attest to the warm, friendly environment they've created here though. Asked if it's very sweet, was told not really but I came out I can only taste the syrup, can't taste the chai at all, no coffee taste either. My favorite of the two was the banana matcha, which honestly didn't taste too different from the einspanner. I didn't taste much banana in the banana cream. The husband-and-wife duo happened to be in the café when my girlfriends and I stopped by after a hike at Daley Ranch, which is about 10 minutes away. So, what makes Good Source... so good? I'm happy to share! As soon as I walked in, I noticed how spacious and clean the place was, and the finishing touches on the decor were beautiful. I ordered the Honey Latte with Oat Milk, and it was the perfect way to kick-start my morning! One of my friends, who isn't a big coffee drinker, ordered a Mocha with a half-shot and said it was the best she's had. They offer both vegan and non-vegan options. For a treat, I chose the vegan Chai Donut, recommended by Good Source's friendly cashier, and it was delish. Parking was easy to find since the coffee shop is located in a plaza with plenty of spaces. The staff and owners are incredibly helpful and kind. I'm thrilled this coffee shop has opened; based on my experience, it's a fantastic addition to the community.
