Order at the counter, get a buzzer, and take in the cute decor. Im not in Escondido often but I will definitely keep this place in mind when Im in the area! Elmisa Cafe - Bacon gouda & vanilla protein latte - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Escondido, California

I first discovered Elmisa in Rancho Bernardo, and was SO excited when this one in Escondido opened up! Their food options are delicious and above & beyond your average sandwich shop. The atmosphere is cute and inviting. The owners & employees are always so friendly and helpful. We've never had a meal we didn't enjoy here. My family's current top favorites that we're always happy to recommend to others are: Rula hot sandwich, chicken artichoke Panini, bacon havarti breakfast sandwich, bagel & Lox, Westwood Cali, salads, & any of their flatbreads if on the lunch specials board. It's been hard to try new items when our favorites never get old. :) I highly recommend Elmisa! read more

We have come back to Elmisa from time to time because we desperately want to support a local, non-chain cafe. This place has so much potential but it is struggling under the weight of poor service and careless food preparation. We went here today for brunch and every service interaction was strained. I asked the lady taking my order if there were side options besides just chips - she casually pointed to the cooler off to the side where some mystery containers were stacked. I asked her, "what is it?" She replied "pasta." Ooooookay... so are you saying pasta is an option? What kind of pasta? I finally had to go over and investigate myself.. I saw pasta salad, fruit, parfaits, etc. I just grabbed a bowl of fruit and finished my order. I later saw that the menu also had soup, which would have been nice to know! The tables were all dirty and I asked a staff member if they could wipe one down and she pointed to the napkins. Really? Okay.. they forgot the chocolate croissant with our order and I went up to ask for it and the other girl didn't acknowledge my question and just rushed off. She did later bring the missing croissant but it was so strange that she didn't even respond with something as simple as "sorry! We will bring it out to you." I got a hampeno and it was drowning in chipotle sauce and had stem end tomatoes. I got a Diet Coke in a can and it smelled like musty plastic. It was so soggy that I had to eat it with a fork and knife. The food was mediocre as a whole but the service definitely needs improvement. read more

We got a vanilla collagen latte and honey cinnamon oat cold brew. Both drinks were a little on the sweeter end so I would adjust sweetness if you don't have a sweet tooth. Service was very quick. Great place to study, catch up with friends etc. read more

What's not to love about this cute cafe in Escondido? The interior is super cute with ample seating and the team is very patient and kind. I tried the iced strawberry matcha, which was a little too "jammy" and sweet for me to really taste the matcha, but the overall experience was excellent. Definitely worth a visit for the vibes! read more

Elmisa used to be a go to! I was excited they opened a location in Escondido as it's closer to me than their RB location. Now that they've discontinued my 2 favorites, I'm not sure if I'll be returning as I've tried several other items on the menu that just haven't been my cup of tea. It's a shame because the staff is so friendly and they have a nice outdoor patio so you can bring your well behaved dogs. The interior can get a bit stuffy especially when it's busy. I guess I'll just have to figure out how to make the Hampeno and Medi Toast at home since they took them off the menu. read more

Ordered food for our office event. Good portions, tasted fresh. Thai chixken wrap was a crowd pleaser. Chicken salad lil sis sandwich was ok. I liked their rosemary bread. Service was on time and they were friendly read more

The food not only looks beautifuly presented it was really really good and reasonably priced. Our specialty Pumpkin Spice coffees were also really good. This is a very brightly lit café, modern aesthetic with comfortable seating. The atmosphere felt busier and louder than expected for an early morning weekday with a large club meeting being held on the patio. Not sure if this would be an ideal spot for reading or studying. However, the place is really nice and we are looking forward to returning and trying out other things on the menu. read more

i had a strawberry matcha latte and a croissant breakfast sandwich. The sandwich was quite good and the matcha was good, but i wouldn't consider it a great matcha! still pretty tasty though. the prices were very good in my opinion, especially for california. more affordable than my coffee shops in phoenix. My cousin ordered a few drinks and it took quite a while, someone else took her order but the employees were nice. i felt like service was not too bad at all. Very average experience but not at all negative! cute spot to stop for a quick breakfast. read more

This small but mighty café. I got good food, the service was okay. I didn't have to wait to be seated. I enjoyed my breakfast. Honestly the cost of the food is a little higher than I would generally prefer. But then I'm not a huge breakfast person, so maybe it's average. I would recommend to friends though. I know a lot of bagel coffee people that enjoy this kind of morning place. read more

Escondido's best breakfast and lunch cafe. This popular cafe is relatively new after being converted from a pizza place. If anything, the best part of Elmisa cafe is that it's casual enough for friend meetups and the food, particularly the sandwiches, are really good. - Skip the wraps, get a sandwich. read more

I came here for lunch and was craving something light and fresh. This was the perfect pick. I was drawn to the menu because there was a wide variety of options from sandwiches, bowls, smoothies, and more. Upon walking into the cafe I was welcomed by the staff. There inside of the cafe has plenty of seating. I ordered the fig and prosciutto toast and I really enjoyed it! The flavors of all the toppings went together very nicely. I was really impressed by the options for the toasts. I like that this cafe adds protein to to most of their avocado toasts. A lot of other cafes will charge the same amount and will not include protein. I think it's worth it for the price point! I also ordered the banana red and blue smoothie with almond milk instead of apple juice. The was the only downside to my meal. It tasted really watered down and bland. It could have been due to using the almond milk instead of juice. Although based on the runny consistency I feel they may blend the smoothies with ice. My feedback would be to use only frozen fruit for the smoothies for maximum flavor or add honey. I will definitely be back to try the other things on the menu! read more

Stopped in for a quick bite and coffee on my way home from an appointment and have passed this cafe multiple times before finally catching them during business hours. I ordered a peanut butter and chocolate latte and breakfast sandwich. I personally am not a fan of eggs in my breakfast sandwich, and should have ordered without it. To me the sandwich was perfect without and extremely filling. The drink was too sweet for my tastes, and tasted a little grainy, possibly from the peanut butter that's spread on the sides of the cup. Definitely a flavor profile that works well, just missed for my personal tastes which is of no fault to the cafe. I will want to come back to try other items because I'm sure they have some fantastic drinks on their menu and my taste just didn't align with that particular drink. read more

Elmisa Cafe - We devoured this Sandwhich haha! - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Escondido, California

We were in the area for a fair and were looking to grab a quick bite. This little cafe was really sweet. There were some people grabbing stuff for the office and a family or two enjoying a breakfast with their young kids. They provide seating inside or out on the patio. Very clear menu options and a board with a couple of special on it. My wife went for a coffee and I got a shake/smoothie. We tried a couple of their bagel options and then cut them in half so we could each try two different ones. Made fresh and very delicious. Not sure if the food was pricey because it was in California or if that's just what breakfast places charge these days, but after eating it we had no complaints. Glad to have spotted Elmisa Cafe in the parking lot and we would definitely stop back in when we return for the fair. read more

Every time I come here, I want to come back. Lovely and clean interior, present and positive staff, and the food always hits. This is a really nice cafe with great sandwiches and coffee drinks. Nice relaxing ambiance, indoor or outdoor. The music was EDM when I was there, which was not too loud. Good new place in Escondido to just grab a bite, or catch up with friends over lunch or coffee. They have sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches with eggs, healthy bowls, wraps, salad, etc. You can select something from the menu or make your own custom sandwiches. I had a Turkey Gouda Sandwich, which was fresh and tasted like the best homemade sandwich. I loved it! The rosemary bread was excellent. The food came out quickly. 2nd time here. Salads are still great. I went the carnivorous route this time with the Roast Beef Panini (French Dip). Probably the most unique French Dip I've had. Havarti cheese, green chile, pickled onions, horseradish aioli, all on a crusty French hoagie roll. Perfect. And the au jus . . . very different. Really home made taste, not just generic instant beef boullion. Very impressed. The large sandwich is just that - Large ! Excellent for the price. Good quality. Good value. read more

Came and met a friend for a quick meet up here. Easy parking since it's in a shared lot. The Cafe has an open feel once you step in. You order at the counter, find a table and wait for your name to be called. I kept it simple with ordering a hazelnut latte and their seasonal pumpkin bread. Friend got a latte and the NYC. Food and beverages were okay. Sampled my friend's NYC, lox toast, and thought it was good but didn't stand out from any others I've had. Maybe I'll come back to try a more heavier meal. read more

We went in today and ordered two drinks from the seasonal menu: the Brown Sugar Espresso and the Mango Matcha. Unfortunately, the Brown Sugar Espresso had a piece of chopped onion in the drink. My fiancé is allergic to onions, so this was extremely concerning and honestly unacceptable. Luckily, she had her EpiPen with her, because this could have turned into a very serious medical emergency. Finding a piece of onion in a coffee drink is not only disgusting, but raises serious concerns about hygiene, cross-contamination, and how carefully drinks and ingredients are being handled. Something like this should never happen, especially when food allergies can be life-threatening. We hope the shop takes this seriously and reviews its preparation and cleaning procedures to make sure something like this doesn't happen to another customer. Will never go again. read more

Went for lunch with my girl friends today and we were all pleasantly surprised! The Reuben sandwich was 10/10, the Roast Beef Panini was 10/10, the Turkey Brie cranberry sandwich was 8/10, the Turkey pesto balsamic was 9/10. The wait was around 5-8 minutes and the food was nice and hot. Service was great and the ambience was nice! I only have one complaint... the restroom smelled like sewer. I couldn't use it. Physically, it looked clean, but the smell was extremely pungent. Not sure where the smell was coming from, but that really needs to be tended to. Other than that, our experience was lovely. I hope that gets corrected and I would love to comeback for more yummy sandwiches! read more

This is our 1st time here. Nice and clean inside and friendly staff. I got the Breakfast Club sandwich and I really liked it. My wife got the Morning Breakfast on a Croissant bread with ham and it was ok. Our friend liked her Elmisa salad. But both our breads were on the overly toasted side really brown with burnt marks. I've worked in breakfast places a long time in my younger days and was taught never to serve over brown burnt marked bread, but that's just me. Their menu looks good so we will try it again. read more
