My daughter loves Somisomi, so we sometimes stop by after dinner. The only drawback is there's absolutely no places to sit inside or outside. We either had to eat it standing like everyone else, or sit in our car. Love the ice cream, but hate the layout of the store.

I went to the Katy, TX location and that location also doesn't have seating. I'm not sure if that's a common theme. They do have a standing table that you can place your dessert and eat. I ordered the upside down with matcha and sakura berry soft serve and matcha custard filling. This was from March 29, 2026 so I'm not sure if they changed out flavors. Everything was delicious. The soft serve was good but I didn't really taste the sakura berry. Parking is plentiful, it's in a shared lot. Pricing is fair. Service was fast and pleasant.

Taiyaki- cookies and cream ice cream with the custard filling lining the fish cone

I still love coming to somisomi after all these years because who doesn't love an upside down fish cone with filling, toppings and delicious soft serve? Service is usually pretty quick despite the fact they always have a line. The store itself isn't very large and doesn't really have a lot of seating to eat at so plan to take it on the go. This time I got the taiyakis- delicious hot fish shaped waffles with filling of choice. I was not disappointed.

Strawberry soft serve with taiyaki filled with custard

Always the best soft serve and fluffy crispy waffle. This seasonal flavor was strawberry and I love it. We beat the rush but even so they got our orders out so fast and are obviously very used to the large groups of customers.

Chocolate soft serve with fruity pebbles and fish stuffed with Nutella

Yummy!! I had the chocolate soft serve with Nutella stuffed in the fish. The service was good and we enjoyed our dessert. The place was busy but very organized. It was clean and no places to sit only stand. Small place but worth it to try it.

I generally frequent the Kearny Mesa location of Somisomi but after having dinner in the Mira Mesa area, I decided to give this location a try. Pros: 6 different flavors of soft serve, plus 3 swirls. Everything is always tasty, my go to order is the upside down ahboong with custard. Cons: The worker who was doing the toppings was very unpleasant. Also noticed they give less soft serve at this location compared to Kearny Mesa. Cleanliness inside the store could use improvement. Overall this place has a great product but I think this particular location has some issues.

I only tried matcha soft served. You can't really taste matcha. I tried Ube my friend got and that was really good. No matcha, yes Ube. Service is really quick.

This is a much easier location to navigate than Convoy or UTC. I went at maybe 5:30, so I was the only one ordering and service was fast. There's lots of food in the shopping center, and they're open til at least 11pm. So I can imagine it does get busy at times. I always order the upside-down ah boong. This time I got earl grey and cookies and cream swirled, with captain crunch dust and coconut topping, and my taiyaki with black sesame filling. So good!

3/04/2025. Upside down ahboong with ube soft serve and oreo topping ($6.95): looks and sounds better than it tastes, 3.5/5 stars.

Another Asian dessert spot that serves muted sweets. Upside down ahboong with ube soft serve and oreo topping ($6.95): looks and sounds better than it tastes. This was creamy but the flavors are toned down unlike several Asian appetizers and entrées that are pungent in flavor, 3.5/5 stars. Theses are strictly photogenic and I'd go elsewhere to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Ive never like somisomi. This place is not small, but the room is divided into 2. Its weird actually. You order on the right side and walk over to the other half of the room to pick up your order. My husband got taiyaki. I don't like their taiyaki bc it is to doughy. The texture is just not it for me. The soft served ice cream from McDonald's tastes better. This really just isn't my place. I'll go here bc my kids might want the taiyaki.

SomiSomi in the plaza with Pho Cow Cali! Came here after having pho next door and it checked all my marks for an ice cream store. Quick and good service, fun flavors and also free toppings (I chose graham cracker crumbs and a macron shell).

SomiSomi never disappoints, and their soft serve with Nutella-filled taiyaki is a next-level dessert experience! The ice cream was incredibly smooth and creamy -- I went with the cookies & cream flavor, and it was rich without being too sweet, with a perfect balance of chocolate cookie bits and vanilla base. It's the kind of texture that melts just right in your mouth, making every spoonful feel indulgent. But the real star? The taiyaki waffle with Nutella filling. The taiyaki was warm, freshly made, and had just the right amount of crisp on the outside with a soft, fluffy center. The Nutella inside was generous, gooey, and melted beautifully into the waffle -- it paired perfectly with the cold soft serve, creating that magical warm-meets-cold combo. The presentation is adorable too. The signature yellow cups and the fish-shaped taiyaki sticking out make it super Instagrammable -- especially when enjoyed with cute plushies like in the photo! If you haven't tried SomiSomi yet, this combo is a must. It's fun, flavorful, and honestly feels like a little celebration in every bite. 10/10 would recommend!

Menu 06/2025, does not state the red bean filling has an extra charge
Siu M.

Flavors good, customer service ok, price transparency *needs work*, atmosphere busy and no real seating. I ordered following the instructions on the menu-- a milk ice cream in a cup with red bean filling. The cashier told me the red bean filling was an extra 50 cents. It wasn't about saving 50 cents, but I wish it would say that on the menu, so I know what to expect. Toppings were free though but fruit would be nice and I would not mind paying extra for fruit as long as the price is listed on the menu.

Food was actually pretty good and service was also decently fast. Kimchi pancake was extremely large and we certainly appreciate that! Definitely good value for money there. Flavor was also exceptional. It was soft and light and had that kimchi flavor but wasn't too overpoweringly strong either. It was fairly oily though so I had to press out some of that oil using paper towels. Spicy chicken entree item was really nice. Not too spicy and it also had some veggies in there which I appreciate. Sauce itself was delicious and I think the only downside is that there was not as many large pieces of chicken so it was hard to tell what was chicken and what was rice cakes. Friend and husband definitely enjoyed the beef bulgogi. I only tasted a little and it was definitely good. I was really excited about the Hot Stone Bibimbap, but it didn't deliver as much. Rice on the side was fairly crispy which was nice, but overall I think it was missing a little something. The Bibimbap sauce they gave on the side was a 10/10 though!

Came here with their revamped fine dining Korean Asian Fusion menu during Happy Hour and this place…read morewas absolutely amazing!!!!! First off, there is free parking available, just circle around the building until you see a garage entrance for retail parking. Two hours for free! Let me first explain the aesthetics of this place. Clean and modern with mid century feel accented with greenery throughout. Please note that they won't seat you until most of your party is present. We came here for Happy Hour which was from 4-6pm from Tuesday to Sunday! This is fantastic that HH includes the weekend!!!! To start, got a wellness shot which had a meld of juices and ginger. A great drink to ready your palate. For cocktails, I tried the Suika Spritz, which was refreshing! The Absolutely Pho-nomenal definitely tasted like cold Pho broth but spiked. It wasn't my favorite drink, but glad I tried it nonetheless. Of course we ordered the $1 oysters, and ordered all three - Baja, Pacific Northwest, & East Coast. It came with some Asian fusion sauces to dress our oysters. My fave was the Baja as these were the freshest! All three were smooth and non briny. On the HH menu we also tried - Bulgogi Birria Vampiro - Tender meat with bulgogi seasoned beef on top of a tostada. Really liked the meld of the two cultures in this dish. Duck Liver Mousse - Comes with rustic bread & crème fraiche. Very duck forward. I liked this because it was rich with flavor. Stone Crab Taco - Loved the nod to Loganisa in this taco! This was by far, my favorite protein dish on the HH menu!!!! Regular Menu - Mango Nasturium Kimchi Salad - I absolutely loved this vibrant and fresh dish!!!! I had to go back for second and thirds! Shishito Peppers with Bonito Flakes - This was definitely a fun and flavorful dish with lots of umami. Dessert - Hotteok and Vanilla Ice Cream - this was my favorite dessert! The pancakes were flaky and delicious!! Bonbunja Tiramisu - Beware! This has a strong coffee taste. It reminded of the strength and flavor profile of a Vietnamese coffee. I can't believe it's not cheesecake - Definitely a mix of a brûlée but with a cheesecake flavor. Confusing but works lol. We met the executive chef, Kyler, who explained and served some of dishes we ordered. The entire staff was so accommodating and even reminded us if we needed our parking validated! Our water never ran empty and our dishes were promptly taken away as we finished. Definitely a place to visit during HH since they offer amazing food and cocktail choices.

My wife and I went here for dinner expecting to eat great food based on all the high reviews and…read morethe upscale price, but we were instead left with disappointment and a big fat check with an unexpected automatic 20% gratuity fee for 2 people. Food: We got several appetizers and 3 entrees. We had the Mango Kimchi Salad, Bulgogi Birria Vampiro, Silkworm Pupa Tacos, Doenjang Risotto, Miso Lingcod, and Braised Short Rib. We got plenty of dishes to try, but unfortunately they were either simply mediocre or had an issue. The Kimchi Salad was too strong in spice and the mangos were unripe and hard. The Birria Vampiro was simply mediocre and sort of bland. Silkworm Pupa Tacos were again sort of bland. The Risotto was undercooked and crunchy instead of 'al dente'. Miso Lingcod had a very fishy taste and not much else. And the Braised Short Rib was too salty. Drinks: I got the Choi's cocktail and my wife got the Gangnam Style espresso martini. Both drinks were very well made and tasted great! Service: Unlike the food, the service was great! From the person who confirmed our reservation, to the staff at the front of the door, and to our server, they were all extremely friendly. We were celebrating an occasion, which we made known when booking and upon sitting down we got a handwritten card with a congratulations note. That was very unexpected and awesome! We also got a couple of complimentary cocktail shots from the bartender while we were there. Overall, I would say the staff and service was extremely good. Parking: The area of San Diego that Choi's is located is unfortunately very bad. Overfilled with homeless, drug addicts, and just plain shady looking people who roam the streets. I was overjoyed when I found out that they give you two hours of complimentary parking in a safe place! So to summarize: The staff that provide great service, the bartender with awesome drinks, and the free parking in a safe place simply do not make up for the main reason we were there: the food. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 was because of all these other factors besides the food. Before paying the bill and leaving, we did let the server know about the issues we found with the food in a very friendly and constructive way. She was thankful for the honesty and the feedback.

They also offer free ice cream (chocolate, vanilla, and green tea) for all guests, which was a nice touch. The restaurant itself is clean, including the bathrooms, and the ambiance is great.
