Thank you to Kayla and the owner of Gelato Sweetspot for having a fun and free experience on Valentine's day. Kayla was very nice, warm, and welcoming when we arrived. She made sure to tell us all about how to order, and the free FroYo on Valentine's day. We perused the secret candy room and found a few things to purchase from the plethora of items in there. It is a nice assortment of all kinds of candy, snacks, drinks from all over the world. Then we checked out the store, the merchandise, the fun props like the pink cow, and the giant circus animal cookie. Great for photos and a fun environment. Lastly we checked out the Gelato and Frozen Yogurt. Plenty of great flavors to choose from. I went with a mix of cheescake and another flavor and I added in some Gelato, the flavor had peanut butter and chocolate. I added in some of the many mix-ins and had a sweet treat. read more

The vibes are very cute and it's a good idea. However, there is only a few gelato flavors, but it was mostly frozen yogurt. There was a cereal bar, which is pretty cool because I've never seen one in person before. And a circus animal cookie you can ride and take photos But the kid working said hi to us and then ignored us the whole time. It was our first time in there and we had no idea what we were doing. We very audibly said at least 6 times "oh don't know what that is, how do we do this, what is this" etc. he was on his phone the entire time None of the toppings had labels so we did not know what was what except for a few things which were very recognizable. The toppings that I did get (I think toffee maybe?) was stale and not crunchy at all. Mochi was good though! The flavor of the cake batter, frozen yogurt was a little weird, but not bad. When we were checking out, he asked us if we had been here before, which very obviously we had not lol. But whatever We check out and left and at least he told us to have a good day. Not bad, but I don't get it. It's not for me. I'm looking for a place where I can get in and out quickly, no chit-chat, just get some ice cream or froyo and go. I came because of a coupon and was interested to see what gelato is. Until now, I always figured it's upscale ice cream that the Von Snootington's out in Fairbanks Ranch had just to tell everyone how worldly and trendy they are. I don't need virtue-signaling yogurt but I thought I'd try it. It wasn't that good. Both myself and the person I was with noticed all three gelato flavors we tried pretty much tasted the same as the others. If I were to eat it blindfolded, I couldn't tell you which one was banana, hazelnut or pistachio. My real gripe is the self-serve method. You're supposed to put on a food-handler's glove ( which they provide ) to scoop the gelato yourself. That would be fine, except that these are stationary scoops, just one, solid piece. They need the articulated scoop for these, the ones with the thumb button that swivels an arm through the cup so that you can clear out the ice cream in it. Because these are all just one-piece scoops, the gelato sticks to it and won't come out. Be sure to wear two gloves because you'll be sticking the other hand in there to pull the gelato out. This was my least favorite part. Either have a trigger-scoop that you can clear it out, or if not then a bucket of water ( or running water ) to water off the static one-piece scoop before it goes back in. Also, this setup assumes your fellow customers are hygenic and can be trusted. Have you taken a good look at society lately? The people in line ahead of us were trying their best, but I was watching this one dude's arm hair bristling off every time he dove in with that scoop. Yuck. How does this pass health inspection? They have a small photo-op up front on a pink elephant which was neat, and in the opposite corner a gift shop which is great if you love a place so much you can't wait to wear a hat or shirt with their logo on it. The most interesting part was the shop-within-a-shop in the back which had mirrored walls and sells international candy. It's not really my thing, but I will give them credit for having a lot of international representation. It's mostly Korean candy but I saw Japanese, British, German, Middle east, Mexican and Canadian candies in there. I mean, it's neat, but I'm here for ice cream so... Definitely a 10/10 for effort but it's more than it needs to be. Photo ops, gift shop, candy store within a Froyo/gelato store? I can't complain too hard, this place will probably bring in tons of customers, I just don't understand how. read more

I've visited this place for a few times now. I liked the set up. It's spacious and clean. They have a gelato area, where you can sample different flavors first. There's a topping station and a candy station for topping if you want. There's a cereal and milk station if you prefer something else other than gelato. The best part is the back room where you can find unique treats and snacks. The only negative thing about this room is that some items were already expired. It's a good idea to do a periodic check on the expiration date. Overall, it's a good place to go for some treats. read more

They have gelato ice cream, candy you can buy by the pound, and a secret candy and goodies store in the back that sells unique flavors and options (prices $3-6 per item)! The store is large and has over 20-25 bar stools and seats. The decor is absolutely adorable with pink all around. The young woman working there was very friendly and helpful. The place is very pink and spacious inside and I loved all the cute decorations. When you walk in the frozen yogurt machines are on the back left wall, toppings and gelato on a little cart island on the left, candy on the back right wall, and the checkout is in a circle in the middle and the cashier was very helpful. My friend and I were able to try out the different frozen yogurt flavors before buying and we were told that any of the candies could also work as toppings which was great to know! read more

Before departing Poway recently, I stopped by this family-run business for a cold sweet treat. Although the name was misleading because no gelato was served, the space was HUGE for a dessert shop. It was decorated with bright pink colors and could pass for a frozen yogurt version of Candyland. I do worry that the suite was located in a small strip mall that didn't seem to be busy in the evening hours. The positive was that parking spaces were ample. There were six stations in the back left corner that each dispensed two flavors of frozen yogurt. That seemed to be the standard quantity, however they had the space to offer much more. The price was $0.75 per ounce which was around the typical going rate nowadays with the local shops. What was more impressive to me were the displays and varieties of toppings. There was a standalone bar with the wet toppings near the fro-yo dispensers. Along two of the walls were the candy bins and the cereal cylinders. I obtained a couple of tasters and sampled two of the flavors that were rotated weekly. I decided on the Raspberry Pomegranate and the Mountain Blackberry because they were unique fruity varieties. I swirled them together in a cup without any toppings added. As a first time customer, the cashier gave a 50% discount which was very generous. One corner of the room had three small round tables with chairs and sofas. They could probably add some benches along the perimeter to increase the seating capacity. In a back corner was a secret room that displayed a large quantity of Asian-based candies and snacks. I don't know how many of those products were actually being purchased, but they certainly piqued my curiosity. The opposite front corner had a pink elephant that was social media friendly as people hopped on to pose for photos. Such a cute frozen yogurt shop, they had various toppings, candies, and cereal. The hidden room in the back was awesome, I have never seen or heard of most of the brands back there. There was also a refrigerator with international beverages, pretty cool. Even though the business is called Gelato Sweetspot, they only serve frozen yogurt. I got a large half coffee and half coconut bowl and mixed in various toppings. It was delicious and filling and that was my dinner for the evening. First impression...pink neon! This place is so spacious with 12 gelato flavors on rotation at 0.75 cents an ounce and lots of topping options. Two bowl sizes. Another area of candy like Sweet Factory for the same price then another area of cereal choices! Don't forget the international snack room. They also have merch. When I walked in, I was greeted and they were giving out cute key chains and stickers. She handed me a few sample cups to taste. The machines rarely work and when I told the kid it wasn't working he barely looked up from his phone. The two young male employees were talking to two of their female friends. Then another young male came into the store and proceeded to get in a verbal argument, which included swearing with one of the employees. Gelato Sweet Spot has a really nice vibe. We went in the week they gave out free yogurt. We arrived around 8:45 and it was very crowded, which says a lot about how popular the place is, but it also meant things felt a little rushed with fast turnover. I enjoyed the yogurt however, the frozen yogurt wasn't very frozen, likely because of how busy they were and the quick pace of service. On the plus side, I did enjoy adding some toppings, which made it more fun. Overall, it's a great spot to check out if you want frozen yogurt in a lively atmosphere, but don't be surprised if the crowd impacts the consistency of some of the treats. read more

Sometimes you walk in to a place for the first time and you're like "Damn, this is my new favorite place". Welcome to Gelato Sweetspot! They really thought of it all! All the work and small details that went in to opening this place is obvious and deserves a round of applause. When you first walk up to the shop, you are greeted by 2 ice cream chairs on the right and a melting ice cream bench on the left... I see you Sweetpot. Nice touch! When you walk inside, you were greeted by a rotunda in the middle of the shop. All the workers are smiling and says hello when you walk in. Now here's the tricky part. What do you do next? Go straight ahead to the candy bar and fill a bag of all your favorite candy? Do you turn to the right to the cereal bar? Or do you turn to the left where the FroYo is? Wait what is that in the back right corner? A "secret" room filled with unique/imported candy, chips, and drinks? Mind blown! Naturally, I ended up doing all 3 I really appreciated all the flavors of FroYo. Had a great selection and the toppings were also on point. The candy bar was also awesome. They literally had my 3 favorite candies: Coca Cola gummies, peach gummies, and cherry gummies! Not to mention those rainbow sour belts! The cereal bar was legit. They have every cereal you'd want. Grab a bowl on the left, fill up the bowl, grab whatever type of milk you want from the refrigerator on the right. I also peaked inside the secret snack room. They had so much stuff in there, it's definitely a kids heaven. Something I thought was unique is the have a refrigerator with a bunch of canned water and flavored sparkling waters that have their business on. I tried the sparkling lime. YUM! Oh... on your way out, don't forget to take a picture for Yelp on the pink circus animal cookie!!! Let me talk real quick about their business model. For their opening week, their FroYo was free. YEAH! FROYO FREE ALL WEEK! It was a zoo when we went in there the first time. So many people wanting FroYo. I personally didn't know it was free when I took my family, but it was a nice treat to find out it was free when we tried to pay. They also had free stickers and key chains they gave our kids and I thought that was a nice gesture. I wanted to acknowledge the workers were working really hard trying to keep everything clean with the amount of people getting desserts. I really appreciated that and wanted to acknowledge that. Parking, and exiting the parking lot is difficult at peak times. Very cute esthetic. There is a candy room and a good selection of older candies from the 2000s and much before. Paid by card. Gelato Sweetspot is located in a plaza and offers a lot of plaza parking. I've been here several times on weekday nights and there aren't many people here so there are no long waits. It is cutely decorated and very clean. There is a self-serve yogurt area with TONS of toppings, a "secret' candy room, drinks, and a gelato freezer. (I think the gelato freezer was recently added since I didn't see it during previous trips.) The staff is always nice. Personally, I think the cereal topping station could be taken out or reduced and a coffee bar with dispensers could be there. The space is so huge. This is definitely a fun place to visit! I came here for a Yelp event but I was back in the area and I remembered the Sugar Babies Sour Apple flavored candies. I had brought to camp with me and left it on the table and anyone that had tried it loved them. So I returned to buy the last box they had on the shelf. So this is in the Secret Room, full of different and fun snacks and candies! Don't forget to visit this room. But you will be amazed how inviting this store is when you walk in! Went here for the first with my husband on Halloween night. Seeing that it was Halloween the place was very quiet so we had all the time and space to check out every little nook and cranny. There are some fun photo op spots and an entire corner with fun and different candies. Also loved the long cereal bad on the wall. The gelato reminded me of other frozen yogurt places but they did have some more exotic and unusual flavors. I'll definitely visit again. read more

We saw the signs during the grand opening and decided to stop in. The place was a mad house because who doesn't like free gelato? Even though it was busy the shop was clean and well stocked. They have a wide variety of toppings to choose from. We've been back since then with my daughter's softball team and noticed some of the flavors had changed. I like that they have different options. It's serve yourself, so you can mix and taste! very clean, and the staff is on top of cleaning (for those of us who are still covid germ freaks). It's a must go place!
